XST Post-synthesis simulation differences between Virtex4 and Virtex6

Hi
I've been looking at  a problem we've been having in one of our components where a register interface that we have implemented doesn't seem to be behaving correctly. We've used ISE 14.1 and 14.6, and simulated in ISim and ModelSim 6.6d, which both display the weird behavior. I've attached the project, source, simulation and post-synthesis code which display the issue.
We write a value (0x3FFF) to a register (in the case of the simulation 0xC) When that register is read back, we would expect 0x3FFF on reg_response_rdata. Indeed with pre-synthesis simulation, and post-synthesis on Virtex4, this is what we find. However on Virtex6 the response is 0x8000. Through trial and error we can fix this by changing line 98 of the source to the commented out line 99. Note that the implementation of pad_reg and pad_vector are identical, save for pad_vector taking the length as an argument.
To recreate run ab_dc.do in your favourite simulator. This simulates a register write to pre and post synthesis models. Notice the reads return different results depending on which hardware has been synthesised, and depending on whether pad_reg or pad_vector are used. Note also that the change to fix the behavior on line 98/99 isn't the same register that we try to write to/read from.
When it is broken (ie using pad_reg) we get the following warning: WARNING:Xst:2999 - Signal 'debug_counter', unconnected in block 'ab_dc_pre_comp', is tied to its initial value. I'm not sure what the initial value of debug counter can/should be. This warning doesn't appear when using pad_vector.
Files in zip:
./ab_dc.vhd                                                                                The source
./WarningOutput.txt                                                                   A comparision of the warnings from ISE14.1 when compiling for Virtex6. Broken = pad_reg, Fixed = pad_vector
./xilinxTest.ise                                                                           The ISE project file
./netgen/synthesis/v4_ab_dc_comp_synthesis.vhd                  ab_dc.vhd synthesised for Virtex4 using ISE14.1 using pad_reg
./netgen/synthesis/v6_ab_dc_comp_synthesis.vhd                  ab_dc.vhd synthesised for Virtex6 using ISE14.1 using pad_reg
./netgen/synthesis/v6_fix_ab_dc_comp_synthesis.vhd            ab_dc.vhd synthesised for Virtex6 using ISE14.1 using pad_vector
./sim/ab_dc.do                                                                           TCL to compile and run simulation
./sim/ab_dc_tb.vhd                                                                    Simulation to write to register 0xC and then read from it.
./sim/wave.do                                                                            Useful signals to recreate problem
This looks to me like a bug in XST. I'm happy to be proven wrong though!
Thanks

Looks like a parser issue to me, in case of V4 device XST uses an old parser and for V6 devices XST uses new parser. Check below AR:

  • Posting of difference between PO and invoice by authorization level

    Hi all,
    I have a question on price difference between PO and invoice.
    If i want to restrict postings of invoice by authorization like the following, is it possible to be done?  If yes, how?
    Clerks only allowed to post those invoice with no difference and rounding difference (small difference).  Other invoice with difference (not caused by rounding) can be posted by a higher authorised person and not the clerk.  Can this type of authorization be set?
    Thanks.
    Regards,

    Hello
    First decide on the authorization roles for different users.
    Then these roles can be set by the BASIS team.
    Also tolerence groups for different users and amounts can also be set.

  • Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? Difference between Enterprise and SE?

    We’re seeing the following issue: sql - Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? - Stack Overflow (posted by a colleague of mine) and are curious to know if this behaviour is due to a difference between standard and enterprise, or could we doing something else wrong in our DB config.?
    We have also reproduced the issue on the following stacks:
    Oracle SE One 11.2.0.3 (with Spatial enabled)
    Redhat Linux 2.6.32-358.6.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 16 20:59:36 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    11.2.0.3.0 Standard Edition and 11.2.0.4.0 Standard Edition (both with Spatial enabled)
    Microsoft Windows Server 2003R2 Standard x64 Edition
    However, the SQL works fine if we try it on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 *Enterprise* Edition.
    Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Kindest Regards,
    Kevin

    In my experience sdo_filter ALWAYS uses the spatial index, so that's not the problem. Since you did not provide the explain plans, we can't say for sure but I think yhu is right: Standard Edition can't use the bitmap operations, and thus it'll take longer to combine the results of the two queries (because the optimizer will surely split this OR up in two parts, then combine them).
    BTW: when asking questions about queries here, it would be nice if you posted the queries here as well, so that we do not have to check another website in order to see what you are doing. Plus it will probably get you more answers, because not everyone can be bothered to click on that link. It would also have been nice if you had posted your own answer on the other post here as well, because my recommendation would have been to use union all - but since you already found that out for yourself my recommendation would have been a little late.

  • Difference between sendRedirect and RequestDispatcher?

    Difference between sendRedirect and RequestDispatcher?

    I have a situation of needing to redirect a request to a URL that is outside of the container. The scenario is the following, we have a simple logging in servlet that takes some POST parameters (username, password, and other values.) Depending on the username and password, the logon request along with all its POST parameters need to be redirected integrally to another machine. How do i do a redirect with all my parameters intact? sendRedirect does not seem to have any (visible to me) mechanism to do this. We cannot send them on the URL as this will reveal things too easily to our users and we don't want them to bookmark the resulting page.

    While I cannot speak for everyone else here, I personally find your approach rather rude and inconsiderate. The manner in which you are posting these questions implies that you not only do not recognize that there is work involved in answering them but that you do not sufficiently understand them in such a manner as to be able to phrase them coherently.
    I expect that you are attempting to do your homework by exploiting the helpful people on this forum rather than by learning the material in question. If I am mistaken as to your intentions, please inform me and I will apologize to you. However, I find it difficult to believe that anyone would have such poor forum etiquette as not to realize that posting a "question" in the form of a topic statement is impolite.
    There are many fine people here who will assist you in learning and applying Java; I have relied upon their assistance on multiple occasions and found it indispensible. But you are far more likely to receive a helpful response (at least from me) if you take the time to express your questions more fully and (especially) to learn the material.
    Cheers and happy learning.

  • Difference between void and null?

    wht is da difference between void and null w.r.t java?

    Why do you care, unless you're implementing a java compiler or JVM?Wow, you sure do suck at helping out in a forum. Why even make this post? You're not helping the OP any, and you made yourself look like a tool.
    To the op:
    Null is java's version of a null value. Java's version is more strict then many other languages, and will not work in a boolean expression or anywhere code expects a real and not null value. It's simply null.
    Void is java's way of declaring no return type on a method. Methods that are void take no 'return' statement and if one is provided will cause a fatal error. The exception to this is using 'return' without a value, which returns control to the caller of the method.
    Observe:
    //this method returns an int
    public int return_int(){
        int value = 5;
        return value;
    //this method does not return an int
    public void return_nothing(){
        int another_value = 123;
        System.out.println("Here's the value: " + return_int());
    //this method does not return anything
    public void nothing_returned(){
        return_nothing();
        return;
        System.out.println("This line never gets printed; the method returned control already!");

  • ABST2 - Differences between Assets and G/L accts

    Hi Experts
    We are working on ECC 6.0 and INR is our local currency.
    At the end of FY 2007 by mistake direct postings were made to Dep Fund Account which is a Recon a/c and FY 2007 was closed
    And because of which FI-GL and FI-AA doesnt match by INR 37353.71 (amt posted in above doc) as shown in ABST2
    I've referred SAP notes 104567 & 69225 and found the note 69225 relevant to follow as the difference has not resulted in the current or open years.
    So we have passed direct entry which is exactly the reversal of entry posted above using ABF1 (INR -37353.71)
    After posting the 2nd document, in ABST2 another line has appeared of INR -37353.71. Although the sum for my recon GL is now zero.
    The output of ABST2 is as below now -
    Sc  Acct no.   BusA  Year  SG  1st local difference  LCurr  Doc.no.    Period
    AS  31100                2009               37,353.71-        INR     W004
    AS  31100                2009               37,353.71         INR     W004       999
    When I come out of ABST2 , addition to 1st, error no 2 is also coming which I thought would disappear.
    1.Differences between assets and G/L accts in the balance carried forward
         Message no. MQ555
    2.Differences between assets and G/L accounts at the key date
         Message no. MQ557
    Is still something else needs to be done?
    Or can I move ahead as the summation of the difference is now zero?
    Please suggest.
    Kapil

    We referred to SAP and they suggeted that the tagging of W004 in both the lines means that now there is no error even system prompts it as error.
    So we continued with the transactions and after closing the FY 2009, today when we run ABST2, we dont get any error messages as there is no difference left between Assets & GL.

  • Credit Management: Difference Between Static and Dynamic Credit Check

    Hi,
    Could anyone tell the difference Between Static and Dynamic Credit Check?
    According to website: http://www.sap-basis-abap.com/sd/difference-between-static-and-dynamic-credit-check.htm ... this is the answer:
    ====================
    Simple Credit Check : Tr.Code - FD32
    It Considers the Doc.Value + Open Items.
    Doc.Value : Sales Order Has been saved but not delivered
    Open Item : Sales Order has been saved , Delivered, Billed & Transfered to FI, but not received the payment from the customer.
    Static Credit Check it checks all these doc value & check with the credit limit
    1) Open Doc.Value / Sales Order Value : Which is save but not delievered
    2) Open Delivery Doc.Value : Which is delivered but not billed
    3) Open Billing Doc.Value : Which is billed but not posted to FI
    4) Open Item : Which is transfered to FI but not received from the customer.
    Dynamic Credit Check         1) Open Doc
                                                2) Open Delivery
                                                3) Open Billing
                                                4) Open Items
                                                5) Horizon Period = Eg.3Months
    Here the System will not consider the above 1, 2, 3 & 4 values for the lost 3 months.
    ====================
    Question 1: Could you further explain the above information, if there is any?
    Question 2:: What is the Tcode to customize settings of:
    a) Simple Credit Check (isn't this same with b) below?)
    b) Static Credit Check
    c) Dynamic Credit Check

    Hi Tanish,
    Diff between Static and Dynamic Filters.
    Example One at report Level.
    Create a variable for a Infoobject say ,Material .
    1)In the Query Designer and if u restrict it to some 10 materials at query level, the report will display for only those 10 materials only.This is Static Filter.UR AHrdcoding it to those materials.You cant change them at Query Run time.i.e not changeable by user.
    2)If u give the variable as input ,and when u run the query ,u can can choose the material,may 10 may be 1 or may 20 .It is dynamic.Changeable by user at run time
    Example Two at DTP and Start Routine Level,say Document Type.
    1)If u give filters in Start routine it is Static as u cannot change it in Production,not changeable by user.
    2)f u give filters in DTP it is Dyanamic as u can change it in Production.U can give any doc type,Changeable by user at run time.
    Hope it is Understood.

    Hi,
    Exchange rate difference between MIRO and GR/IR we need to written off as a expense for imported w/off expense and in case of assets we need to post exchange rate difference to exchange fluctuation account. Currently exchange rate difference is accounting under capital work in progress(Asset)instead of exchange fluctuation.

    Hi,
    At MIRO stage, after entering PO number system will automatically populate the GRN value for selection. Here if you found that invoice value, which you have received from the vendor, is more than the system proposed amount, then you can adjust that diff amount in the GL account tab, which is next to PO reference tab in MIRO.
    There enter the exch loss GL account and enter the diff amount.

  • T-Code for reporting stock quantity difference between IM and WM

    Hi All
    I'm probably going to kick myself for asking this quastion but is there a report to show the stock quantity differences between IM and WM?
    I have searched the forum first but cannot find info.
    We have various differences in IM and WM shown in MD04 and LS26. This is usually the result of an unplanned plant to plant transfer not being recipted in at the destination plant.
    If no standard T-code is available, which tables can I join to create my own query?
    Thanks in advance
    Darren

    compare MMBE with LS26
    Make sure you dont enter a storage location and storage type in selection screen of LS26.
    if you post a difference with LI20, then you have just posted a difference within WM, means you moved a quantity from a bin into the difference storate type 998.  The balance of both is still equal to your stock shown in MMBE. You have to clear the difference with IM by executing LI21 transaction. Only then the quantity will disappear from difference storage type and will be adjusted in MM and FI.
    LX23 will only report real inconstencies and will adjust them.
    If you do a MM movement like 303, then this creates a transfer request in WM, this TR needs to be converted into a TO. to move the stock from the bin to the interim storage type for goods issue.
    In your case you created just a negative quant in the interim storage type for goods issue and still have a positive quant in the bin, the balance is equal to the stock shown in MMBE.
