Yahoo mail address auto-fill lists everyone ever included in every e-mail I've ever sent/received

At least that's what it seems like....
FF (29.0.1)
Re Yahoo mail: When entering a recipient for an e-mail the auto-fill drop down shows possible matches well in excess of my contacts. It includes anyone that I have ever sent/rec'd and all the addresses that were also cc'd in those e-mails.
From what I have read on Yahoo boards the suggestions are generated from the browser's stored data (ie. it's a browser problem not a Yahoo Mail problem). I have FF options set to delete all history (browse/download/cache/forms/search/cookies/logins/pwds/offlinedata) each time FF closes.
I am able to delete unwanted suggestions one at a time but as a practical approach that is beyond ridiculous.
Does FF keep a master list of part addresses? If so, how do I delete all except my current contacts?
THANKS!

Firefox doesn't store email addresses except as form data; data that you typed previously into Firefox.
See if clearing form history solves that problem: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/control-firefox-automatically-fills-in-forms?esab=a&s=clear+form+data&r=5&as=s#w_clearing-form-history Clearing form history]

  • Mail address not filling in

This weekend I upgraded to 10.7.3 on my Quad-Core Intel Xeon.  Add updates installed.
When I open a new e-mail message window in Mail and start typing an address, the address does not auto-fill from either previous recipients or my address book.  I get a spinning pinwheel that never goes away.  If I drag a contact from my address book, it fills the appropriate address.
How do I get e-mail address to fill?
    Thank you

  • How can I delete unwanted mail addresses from the auto fill list in e.mail

When I go to type a mail adress on my ipad I get a drop down list of previous mail addresses including all the typo's and used once. There doesn't seem to be a way of deleting unwanted one's. Unless anyone knows better?

No, it can't be done. There have been many requests for this.
All you can do is send feedback to Apple on it at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iPad.html

  • How do I clear the email addresses from Mail memory auto-fill?

I am constantly getting emails back from people I didn't mean to email, thanks to the auto-fill option in my email. I don't mind mail remembering the people in my address book, but not EVERYONE I've ever sent or received an email from. Does anyone know how to clear the cache in my mail memory?

  • Clearing email addresses/ auto fill in mail

When I'm composing an email on my ipad2, I may press the "D" button. Then, in a drop down menu, all email addresses that ive sent emails to show up that start with the letter D(similar to how google try's to predict what your going to search for). Is there a way to clear out the email addressees or stop them from trying to auto fill? My account that my  ipad2 uses is a gmail account. I've tried to go through the gmail settings but nothing found so far....any help would be greatly appreciated.

There isn't. It will eventually push of the line unless Apple change things in the interim.

  • Can't delete Unwanted Email addresses, Auto-fill in saves them all !

How do I delete Unwanted Email addresses?
Auto-fill in saves them all !
When I start a new email, every email address I've
ever written to pops up (To:) This greatly increases my
chances of sending a new email to the wrong person.
.....there's got to be a way to delete just the addresses
    I don't want !....but where & how ?

I am also looking for a way purge the email addy autofill of old contacts that no longer exist. Many a family and friends have since changed their E-mail addy's, I have deleted their old addy's from contacts, yet the iPhone autofill still manages to hang on to those in some stored cache that is NOT accessible to purge or delete! This is something I've struggled with regarding the iPhone since my first iPhone months after it originally released years ago, have since owned a few other iPhones as they progressed, currently an iPhone 4, on os 4.01, same issue persists. Have restored my phones, started from new during some restores, etc, those old defunct E-mail addy's still autofill!
I sync with my iMac yet do not even have my mail client set up on the iMac, never have since we bought the iMAc, web based E-mail only, so this issue has nothing to do with mail client on the computer it syncs to.
It would be nice if someone from Apple would reply with acknowledgment that they are indeed aware of this and hopefully it is on their to-do list.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • Address auto fill

I've just done a clean re-install of Snow Leopard. I replaced the user-->Library-->Mail folder with the one from my previous system. My email addresses won't auto fill though. Which file or folders do I need from my old system to get this to happen?
    Thanks.

    Thanks James,
I replaced the users-->Library-->Applications Support-->Address Book folder with the one from my previous system and that did the trick.

  • Clear the auto complete function of Mail addresses?

    Merci d'avance
I don't want the email addresses used for previous sent messages to show when I input the first letter of the desired receiver of the message. How can I disactivate the auto complete function of the mail addresses? i.e. when I type the letter "p", I don't want the 4 addresses starting with "p" to show.
    Thanks.

If you erase the iPad completely, (erase all content and settings) the addresses will go away, but they will return again as soon as you start sending emails again and entering text in the To: field. And you will have to set the iPad up all over again.
If you reset all settings - they will not go away.
Erasing the device is pretty radical and it is only a temporary fix anyway. The suggested email addresses window will always pop up when you start entering text into the To: field and there is no way to deactivate it.

  • Turning off contact address auto-fill

Anyone know how to turn off the auto-fill for calendar entries?  Entering customer appointments into iCal for contacts in my address book takes forever when it has to predict who it might be.  Plus, if I select that particular contact, it won't show the address, only show "Tom's work" as the location.
    Thanx!

Tom .. No, I was just using google. Not http etc.
I really think that was enough last week. We messed with some of
the network settings lately in an attempt to set up ethernet connection
to old machine. I bet that is what changed things.
Yang .. I did what you said. No Joy! Thanks anyway.
How does this work for other tiger users?
Maybe I'm wrong about it working last week?
Typing .com every time isn't the end of the world. But
it would be nice if the Imac would do it.

  • Auto-fill lists

I'm trying to achieve a similar functionality that can be found in the Home Inventory template in iWork '09. If you open that template, you'll see that changing the category moves the items around to be filed under the different category headings. I would like some help trying to figure out how to do this. However, I'd like the information to be copied from another sheet.
    Sheet 1 - 2 columns: item, category
Sheet 2 - Multiple headings as different rows, similar to Home Improvement template, with items listed under each
Adding an item on sheet 1 creates the new row on sheet 2. Changing a category on sheet 1 moves the item around on sheet 2.
I hope this makes sense. Any tutorial would be nice. I'd rather learn than be given a step-by-step, but my searches aren't returning anything close to what I'm looking for.
    Thanks.

    Hi Charlie,
Let's start by using vocabulary specific to Numbers.
a Sheet is the base which may contain one or more tables, charts and/or other objects
a Table is an array of cells, placed on a Sheet.
    1. Adding an item to Table 1 won't create a new row on Table 2, but the data can be copied to an existing row on Table 2. Table 2 can be placed on Sheet 1, Sheet 2, or any other Sheet in the document (and may be moved from one Sheet to another within the document).
    2. Changing the data in a cell on Table 1 will change the copy of that information on Table 2.
Categories are groupings of the data based on specific criteria. They are specific to a single table, and the data used to sort and categorize the table must be contained on that table.
With that in mind, for Table 1, I would use a "Standard" table (One header row, one header column), two columns by as many rows as you need.
Table 2 (also a "Standard" table) needs at least two rows, and at least as many rows as Table 1. To begin with, I would put it onto the same Sheet as Table 1, so that you can work with and see both at the same time.
The easiest way to construct the simple version of the formula to copy values from one Table (Table 1) to another (Table 2) is to use a combination of keyboard and mouse.
Click on A2 of Table 2.
    Type an equals sign (=)
Click on A2 of Table 1
Press return or tab, or click the "Accept" button.
If Table 1::A2 contains data, the data will now appear in Table 2::A2.
If Table 1::A2 is empty, that will be interpreted as a zero, and 0 will appear in Table 2::A2.
A column full of zeroes is probably not what you want to see for empty lines on Table 1, so a cosmetic addition to the formula is in order.
    Current formula: =Table 1::A2
    Revised formula: =IF(LEN(Table 1 :: A2)>0,Table 1::A2,"")
LEN() is a text function that counts the characters in a text string (and interprets a number as text for this purpose). If there's any data in the target cell, LEN() will be greater than zero, and the formula will show that data. Otherwise the formula returns the empty string, and the cell appears 'empty'.
Enter or edit the formula, then select Table 2::A2 again if necessary.
Grab the small circular control at the lower right of the selected cell and drag it right to copy the cell into B2. (As A is an Header column, you may have to Copy the cell, then Paste it in B2).
Reselect both cells if necessary, then grab the control again and drag it down to the *last row of Table 2.*
      • Filling to the last row makes every non-header cell in the column contain the same formula, a necessary condition for added rows to be automatically filled with the formula as they are added.
    Setting categories:
Click on Table 2 to select it.
    Click the Reorganize button.
In the bottom section use the popup menu to select column B
Leave the new popup that appear set to 'unique values'
Check the checkbox to "Insert Categories from the following'
New categories will be added for each new value entered in column B of Table 1.
New items will be placed in the correct (existing or new) category on Table 2 when their categories are entered on Table 1.
    CAUTION:
As noted earlier, Table 2 must contain at least as many rows as Table 1. NOTE that this does NOT include the inserted Category rows in Table 2 (nor those in Table 1 if there are categories inserted there).
Rows may be added to Table 2 by selecting any cell, then dragging the Row handle at the bottom left of the table downward. remember that formulas will be autofilled to added rows only if ALL cells in that column (except header row cells) contain the same formula. Category row cells contain no formulas, and will break the autofill. *Before adding rows, go to the Reorganize dialogue and uncheck the insert Categories button.*

    Barry
