Best practices says plug the USB cable into the computer, then plug the 30 pin connector into the iPhone.
If everything is working correctly, you should be able to plug the iPhone in at any time. Before or after opening iTunes.
Depending on what settings are selected in iTunes, the program may or may not automatically open when you connect the device.

And when i plug my iPhone in, nothing happens and the device does not show up in iTunes
I have tried numerous cables, uninstalling and re-installing iTunes and searching for devices on iTunes
And i still have no luck

Is this problem specific to one file, or does it happen with any file that you convert to PDF? How was the PDF created (using what application)?

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

"The device does not have necessary services"...what does this mean?
I have been told this error happens because Verizon wants you to use data instead of wifi to browse your phone but as this is happening with a bluetooth connection that does not seem a likely answer unless Verizon is also not willing to let you use bluetooth to browse your phone. All I want to do is browse the files on my S4 Mini via bluetooth. That should not be asking too much... What is the real cause of this error and is there a fix or workaround? Thanks!
hey man, i was getting the same message, with a MacPro 8-core and a MacbookPro, i did this...
1. both has the BLUETOOTH Sharing ON and "Show Bluetooth Status in Bar" ON
(my Require paring is off, don't know if it changes something)
2.in bluetooth preferences, select the device (here MacbookPro) click below in the gear for options than "Configure this device”.
3. when the "Bluetooth Device Set Up" show up, do not click on CONTINUE, instead click on the bluetooth button in menu bar, your device (here my mackbookpro) now has the option for SEND and BROWSE...

My Iphone is not seen on itunes when I plug it. I've tried everything that I found on the internet. but it still doesn't work, so I can't sync my iphone. What can I do? I have checked all the USB ports, I have desinstalled and installed again itunes, and I have run out of ideas.
When you plug it it, it should recognize it as an Apple IPHONE under devices. It will then bring the Camera/Connection wizard for the photos on the device. When you plug into different USB, it should bring the hardware wizard and tell you what its installing, what happens?
Under Device Manager, under Imaging Devices it will show up as Apple IPHONE. Is this being shown in your computer? -

My computer is not recognizing my iPod NanoPod - and as a result 'The Devices' section is not showing up in order to sync new Playlists to my Nano-Pod. Any suggestions?

It seems to take up to a couple of days for the upgrade to take hold, at least that's the experience of some users. Give it 24 hours before contacting apple.

Do you have the date/time set on the machine itself? to do so:
Go to the front display of the printer, and ensure the printer's display is on the home screen, if its not, the home light on the upper left will be lit. If so, touch it and it will take you to home, then arrow right once and select settings, scroll down to preferences and select it. At the top you should see date and time, select this and enter in the correct date and time.

Everytime I have synced my iPhone onto iTunes it says it is syncing cover photos. It is the same ones over and over again but they don't get put on. Is it iTunes or my iPhone?
I'm a bit unsure from your post which playlist is missing from where. If you deleted the "Purchased" playlist in iTunes it will be recreated next time you make a purchase. You can add your previous purchases into this list, and select it to be synced to your device. The "Purchased on <Device>" playlists are locked down and cannot be edited.

If the machine is brand new I don't see why the serial Number is missing (it is entered on to a special chip at the factory)
However if the machine is a return and has been refurbished then the Logic/mother board may have been changed and someone forgot to put the info back to the new board.
