You have 1 item awaiting download but never downloads

my iTunes 10.6.1 on OS X 10.7.3 has been telling me 'you have 1 item awaiting download' for the last 3 or four days.
but, when i select '1 iTunes download available' in download or 'download now' in iTunes account or Store/Check for Available Downloads, nothing downloads and the message remains.
i've tried downloading a free tv episode to clear the count or reset the count. it says 2 downloads availabe and the free episode does indeed download. then the message goes back to 1 available.
can anyone suggest how to resolve this problem?

Go to your main itunes library > 'store' on the toolbar > 'check for available downloads' and then it'll ask you to initiate automatic downloads and hopefully it'll find the items you bought and never downloaded and download them successfully! Hope this helps.

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

Have you tried turning your phone completely off and then back on? After trying that you might want to Reset your phone by depressing the Sleep Button and the Home Button at the same time for at least 15 Seconds. Then try your App Download again. If those efforts don't work there are additional threads about various App Download issues you will want to review.

My movie rental wont dowload, it says downloading but never moves from zero KB?

Iv purchased a rental download from the iTunes store. in the downloads part of my iTunes it says it is downloading but never moves from zero KB (even after 2 hours) pausing it, restarting iTunes or even restarting my laptop doesn't help. Anyone have any ideas what I should do?

Does your phone have enough available memory for the movie? Maybe you will need to clear some space.

iCloud is NOT something you download. I'm not positive how you add it after the fact, since I set it up from the get-go on mine, but try going into Settings>Mail, Contacts & Calendars and add an iCloud account.

Is it giving you any option to sign in or license this software. If yes click on sign in/License this software to proceed further and activate it. If it is perpetual license activate by entering your serial key and signing in and if it is a subscription then just sign in with your Adobe it an dit will get activated.

I've sync'd my phone, I've turned it to "show all music" in Settings, I've drag and dropped the songs/albums onto my phone again. I feel like I've tried everything I've seen recommended, but nothing works.

Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match. Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.

Are you doing it thru the Settings panel or are you downloading independently thru the App Store?

Music on iCloud preparing to download but never starts

I Have a new IPhone 6 Plus and trying to download music from my I cloud and it says it is preparing to download but never starts what can be wrong and how do I fix it?

I am having this problem and i could not have explained it better myself.
I have been a iTunes match users since launch and this is the first time i have had this issue. It only seems to be the problem since updating to 8.1.2 because i have no issues downloading whole playlists last week right after i had purchased my new iPhone 6, which was running 8.1.1.
I guess we can only hope to have this issue resolved with a new update, however iTunes Match seems to be becoming increasingly neglected in its support, and continues to be remarkably buggy. Fingers crossed for a fix soon.

You can download your file by logging in to your account at cloud.acrobat.com and clicking the Files tab. Find your file, and select it. Then, click the Download File icon at the top of the window (looks like an in-box with a down arrow). Your file will download to the Downloads folder on your computer.
