Your First iPhone Application Keyboard Won't go Away

I followed the Document "Your First iPhone Application" Right to the letter and no matter how much I start at this code and the linking in the interface builder I can't figure out why the keyboard won't dismiss with the done button
I put a break in the following code and it's not even getting launched when done is pressed
- (BOOL)textFieldShouldReturn:(UITextField *)theTextField {
if (theTextField == textField) {
[textField resignFirstResponder];
return YES;
Anyone have any ideas on what I should check? Everything else works in the program.

MyViewController.h file contents
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
@interface MyViewController : UIViewController <UITextFieldDelegate> {
UITextField *textField;
UILabel *label;
NSString *string;
@property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITextField *textField;
@property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *label;
@property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *string;
- (IBAction)changeGreeting:(id)sender;
@end
I think this is what you are referring to. Also in the Interface builder I have the File's Owner class set to MyViewController
I'm so confused I've felt like I've gone through the booklet 3 times threw trying to figure this out. If I can't get this keyboard to go away there is no way i'm going to be able to build a complex app

  • IB isn't aware of my classes-- "Your First iPhone Application"

    I'm trying to follow the "Your First iPhone Application" tutorial. I run into trouble on this page:
    https://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/iPhone/Conceptual/iPhon e101/Articles/chapter5_section4.html
    The text field does not autocomplete to "MyViewController" nor does it appear anywhere in the list in the dropdown menu. I have called the project "tutorial" and "tutorialAppDelegate" does appear in IB's dropdown menu; I don't know if that tells you anything.
    Do I have to do something special to make IB aware that that class exists? I think IB has changed somewhat since the documentation has written because in mine, "View" is called "Custom View," and I have a fourth icon called "Application".

    I'm afraid that doesn't really help at all. It tells me that I need to do what I am already trying to do:
    1. Create a new nib file using the Cocoa Touch View template and configure it as follows:
    a. Set the class of the File’s Owner proxy object to the class of your custom view controller.
    b. Connect the view outlet of the File’s Owner to the view provided by the template.
    I know that I need to do these things; what I don't know is how to get the GUI to let me. Do I need to put MyViewController in a specific part of the project in XCode? Do I need to flag it as a useable class somewhere? Could I have left out an option somewhere when I made the file?

  • Unwanted iPhone application that won't go away

    Can anyone tell me how to get rid of an iPhone application that I originally downloaded, but decided quite quickly I didn't want?
    About 6 to 9 months ago I downloaded iWorkout Lite - decided almost immediately that I didn't want it. So I deleted it from both my iPhone and iTunes. Fast forward to today and I'm still finding iWorkout regularly in my updated applications when I sync my phone to iTunes. It's constantly trying to download itself. I don't want this application, I'll never want this application, but having pressed 'download' originally I seem to be plagued with this app as it tries to update or reinstall itself time after time. Does anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks a lot
    N

    Did you try this? Delete it in itunes applications section first. Then, without connecting, delete it on the phone (by touching until the icon is shaking, then hit the little cross). Disable autosync, connect the phone and sync.

  • HT203032 Don't enable Wi-Fi calling on your Sprint iPhone or you won't be able to make calls as soon as you leave your Wi-Fi area.

    I tried enabling Wi-Fi calling on my iPhone 6 on Sprint and as soon as I left my Wi-Fi area my phone wouldn't recive or make calls. I would just a error.
    I called Sprint about this and informed them but, If this doesn't happen to you then just go to the Wi-Fi calling setting > Update Emergency Contact > Check Disable Wi-Fi calling. That should fix it!

    Maybe you should get new friends.
    I'm not sure that recovery mode works when you have to trust the computer, but did you try it?
    If you can't update or restore your iOS device - Apple Support
    If that won't work, perhaps you can use Find my iPhone from a computer in your iCloud.com account to erase the device.
    iCloud: Erase your device - Apple Support
    This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone.

  • I've just got my first iPhone and it won't let me verify my email to go in the app store need help big time the phone is useless without apps

    Any ideas

    Leave the iPhone alone for a minute and go to your PC/Mac. Try and set up the Apple ID on there (again leaving the iPhone to sit and look pretty for a while). Check your emails (not on the iPhone) and see if you are receiving the email into your inbox that way, if you aren't make sure you have put the correct email address in the App store. If you are definitley sure you are putting the correct email address in go to the web interface for your email provider (e.g. hotmail or yahoo) and check the junk mail folders etc.
    Do all the above whilst the iPhone is sat around, don't do any of the above on the iPhone. If you manage to crack it and get the email address verified and your account up and running just log in to the App Store on your iPhone once it's all done

  • If you're getting your first iPhone 5, does it have to have the same carrier as your computer and T.V. at your house? Or could you get a different, cheaper carrier instead?

    I'm hopefully getting an iPhone 5 soon, & I'm just wondering if I could get a different carrier for the phone because I heard that AT&T is more expensive than the other carriers. At my house (for our computer & TV) we have AT&T. So, I'm just wondering if I could get a different carrier for the iPhone instead of AT&T.

    The iPhone is avaialble in the U.S. with the following major carriers:
    AT&T
    Verizon
    Sprint
    T-Mobile

  • Creating your first AIR application for Android with the Flex SDK

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WS901d38e593cd1bac25d3d8c712b2d86751e-8000.html

    The name of the self-signed cert that is generated in the "Create the APK package file" step is sampleCert.pfx, but the name of the file in the next step is sampleCert.p12. This should be fixed.

  • Iphone app update won't go away, now app not working after sync

    Using Iphone Appstore to update aurora feint, progress bar gets to 75% then pops up "Unable to Downlaod Application. Aurora Feint The Beginning will be available for download when you log in to the iTunes Stone on your computer.
    So I log on to iTunes store download the update, plug in phone and sync goes ok. Unplug phone and the Aurora Feint updater icon is still left on phone, and the Aurora feint app is now gone. So I remove app from phone, resync, update icon still there, I reinstall app, resync, same issue update icon is there, but no app. I have rebooted phone, tried a restore, I can't get rid of Aurora Feint updater on iphone, and I cannot see aurora feint app on iphone.
    Is there ANYWAY to manually remove the Aurora Feint Updater from iPhone?????? Everytime I run it I get the same error message.
    thx

    Ok so if I hold down an icon (in order to move icons around) and press (x) on the installer it went away. Had to then resync and remove app from phone, and then reinstall app back to phone.
    That sucked.... had a brain **** about the wiggly remove icon bit. But still I would have thought that the updater and the app would be recognized as two different objects by itunes.....

  • On G4 System Preferences, Network, I have a dropdown menu that says that my settings have been altered by another application and won't go away when I click ok, I can't work in the Network preferences and it won't respond to be closed.  Have to Force Quit

    On G4 Powerbook System Preferences, Network, have a dropdown menu that says this has been configured by another application.  when press OK it keeps coming on & can't work in System Preferences.  It won't even respond to Quit System Preferences and I have to Force Quit to close System Pref.
    Any ideas?

    Look at this link. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9372513
    I did BDAqua's suggestion
    To stop the pop-up, Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.

  • OpenOffice to Applications box won't go away

    Every time I open OpenOffice the "OpenOffice to Applications" box pops up. I have already put OpenOffice in the Applications folder. How do I get rid of that box?
    Also, another OpenOffice icon pops up on the desktop every time I open the program, and I have to manually "Eject" the icon when I'm done with OpenOffice. Is that normal?

    It sounds as if you have dragged the install dmg file to applications instead of the application itself.
    Solution: Doubleclick on the icon on the desktop and then move OpenOffice to applications.
    Hope this helps.
    And by the way: When OpenOffice has been properly installed, you can safely drag the dmg file to the trash after you have ejected it.

  • IPHONE MESSAGE THAT WON'T GO AWAY!!!

    Why I'm I getting this message on My iphone? "this accessory is not made to work with the iphone" "Would you like to turn on airplane mode to reduce audio interference. Also my ipod on my iphone plays but no sound.....help!!!!!
    I have restored my phone, updated to 1.1.1 and I still get this message.

    It might also be some lint stuck on the connectors, see if it does anything if you clean it
    If that does not work restore it in iTunes
    If that does not work it could be a bad port so you should call Apple 1-800- MYIPHONE or make an appointment with an Apple genius at a store about having the phone checked or replaced

  • Problems installing Xcode for building iPhone applications

    Just got a mac mini today for building iphone applications. I'm new to macs.
    Downloaded the iPhone SDK. Installed it. But I saw there are a lot of
    packages. Do I need to install them all? I've installed the iPhone ones.
    When I launch Xcode I get the 'Welcome to Xcode 3.1', which just looks like
    a lot of tutorials. How do I run the Xcode application to build iPhone apps?
    Cheers,
    John.

    you just install XCode and it will install ALL packages, the packages that you see are to be installed one by one for expert users or users that want to have a the newest packages.
    Remember: Install the iPhone SDK 2.2
    you just go to menu and click File > New Project > iPhone and choose the type of project for the iPhone that you want to use, WebApp, UIApp, etc ...
    because you are new to the MAC world and probably never used Objective-C in your live, it is good to start somewhere first, buy a good book of the subject, start with the language (Objective-C) them learn about the framework (Cocoa Touch) and then read all about XCode.
    In the meanwhile you can check several websites to start knowing what you going to be able to do one day, here are some examples:
    - Writing your first iPhone application (payed movies, first for free)
    - iPhone Developer Central
    - Apps Amuck
    - iPhone SDK Articles
    remember that you will need to apply to the iPhone Developer Program in order to submit your SDK Apps to the Apple AppStore.
    Updated: You can find several movies on YouTube on how to start building apps to the iPhone, but the most seams to do a bad job cause they are screen casting the entire desktop rather the area that we need, so text will be unreadable on such dimensions.
