YouTube won't work on any device, rest of Internet fine.

I have periods in my house when YouTube will not work on my MacBooks, iPads or iPods. I'll get the rest of the Internet fine, but YouTube on these devices only brings a black screen and spinning dial.

It may have been - I did disable it (was my first thought), but that didn't work. Disabled it on another router and it still didn't work - have just disabled it again and it's all working again! My 4mb line speed (welcome to South Africa) is now flying at 8mb speeds so I think it definitely has had something to do with our ISP. Strange strange but thanks to you all for making the effort to help - much appreciated!!

  • YouTube won't work in any browser

So I'm running 10.6.7 on my Mac and YouTube just doesn't work in any capacity, on the page itself (which doesn't load properly and seems to ignore that I have Flash and/or Java) or embedded. No, wait! I just spontaneously got two embedded videos to work, which is the first time in days. Before now, I wouldn't even see them on pages; there would just be a big blank space.
I've made sure I've got all the updates. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Java and Flash. I dumped the "preferences" folder in Macromedia/Flash. I've rebooted a few times. I've opened Safari in 32-bit mode. I've tried to open YouTube in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera. And guess what? Not a single of these things has worked.
It seems unrelated to my connection because YouTube is working properly on the PCs in the house. Also, video sites like vimeo are working for me, so it doesn't seem to be a Flash problem, though like I said I reinstalled it anyway.
Possibly related is the fact that a lot of images embedded on webpages appear broken or dead to me, even though I've verified with a bunch of other people that they're working. The same applies when it comes to working across browsers--those images don't appear even if I open the same page up in Safari.
I just plain can't figure out what to do anymore. I've run out of things to Google. Any suggestions?

No, nothing changes. It reloads still telling me to join. I tried it in the latest Safari as well, but no dice. My default browser is Chrome, but I've been trying everything that doesn't work in Chrome in Safari because I might as well, right?
I mean clearly it's an issue with my Mac, because if it were just a browser thing, YouTube would be working in other browsers, and if it were a YouTube thing it'd be happening to everyone else, and if it were a connection thing it'd be happening to everyone else on my connection, but it's not so it must be my Mac but then...you know...what is it? Apart from YouTube and the weird images thing, which seems to be a recent development, I haven't noticed any other symptoms.
But the YouTube page won't even load properly for me all the way. It's not limited to the video, it's the entire page refusing to load any images or anything other than plain text. Except, bizarrely, the login page, which looks just fine.

Did you try to set it up "as new device" without using the backup afterwards? How to set up your iPhone or iPod touch as a new device
If this does not work, get it serviced or visit your next Apple Store.

  • Flash player won't work on any browsers

For some reason, flash won't work on any browsers. I've tried Chrome, Safari and Firefox. I have always had to click on any flash element to load it however now, it just says I have to install flash. I have tried re-installing flash, uninstalling flash (checked it wasn't still in macHD/library etc)
I've searched around for any ideas that might work but can't find anything that's working. Does anyone have any suggestions!?

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
If the warning persists, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 6
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 7
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
    Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 8
    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • HT2688 Having updated to iOS7, I am unable to upload a video to shared stream but when I do, it won't play on any device other than the one used to upload ... help

Having updated to iOS7, I am unable to upload a video to shared stream but when I do, it won't play on any device other than the one used to upload ... help please

I also have this problem, as does everybody else I know who has tried to use the video in icloud. As the original poster says, they can be uploaded, but will only play on the device from which they were originally uploaded, appeaering only as images which display an endless buffering symbol when "played" on any other devices with which the photostream is shared.
Has anyone been able to get this to work? And if not, why is there no acknowledgement from Apple that this bug exists and will be addressed in an update (now running 7.0.2 and still no improvement)? It was, after all, advertised as one of the attractive new features of iOS 7. So why the stony silence?

  • Apple TV2 airplay audio (via Airport Express) works well with music, but won't work with any video.

I have an ATV2 and Airport Express connected to speakers all connected to the same network. It all works with music, but won't work with any video audio. In my ATV's settings I've selected my AirPort Express speakers. It works for music, why not everything else? Is there a fix or work around?

Netflix is first on that list...What I mean is, if there is a feature that allows for a wireless audio connection to the Apple TV, why wouldn't the developer allow it. To keep me from enjoying a more convient connection? I can have the same listening experience on a wired connection...

  • QT7pro license number won't work. Any ideas?

I have a QT7pro license number purchased several years ago, now have reinstalled QT7 on W7, but license number won't work. Any ideas?

b noir:- It's a Windows license key. Has been fine on an old XP PC, but am moving to W7, so reinstalling everything bit by bit. I paid for it, should still be able to use I reckon, even years later. I can still log in to Apple and see the order number/license number etc, but it's just listed as an invalid key when used.
Technically I don't really need it any more, as I have other video conversion / production software, but it is useful for quick production of movies for website usage.

  • Can the MacBook Air work with any other type of internet connection beside wifi?

Can the MacBook Air work with any other kind of internet connection besides Wifi?

Who? ITS VERY important when doing a restore, in fact you DO NOT want to do a wifi restore
The pros all have that Ethernet adapter,... that should tell you something. An Ethernet restore via that "thing" makes restoring the OSX about 8X faster.
Its called a Gigabit Ethernet adapter for a reason.
"who the heck" is anyone working with their Macbook Air at home and want a MUCH FASTER download / internet connection.
*Stockbrokers who pack their Macbook Air, arrive at work and plug that "hardwired" dongle to their Air........  because even seconds in the stock market can make the difference between losing a million $$, or making a million $$
So now you know WHY,.....before you didnt.

  • Flash player won't work on any of my home computers/network.

All the sudden, as of 15 hours ago, my flash player will not load on any of my computers at home. I've tried on a Mac, PC, notebook using Chrome, IE, Safari, and flash doesn't work for any of them.  I was using flash for Restaurant City. Flash works fine for youtube, its just the flash games.
All my Adobe flash players were updated, cleared all my cache, restarted the computers and the wireless router.
    Any ideas?

Hi, Are all of the computers with all browsers able to view videos on Youtube? If so, then for that to happen so suddenly, my first thot would be malware/virus.
I would run scans on all of the machines with all browser windows closed with your Anti-Virus program.
You may want to see if a Kill-bit has been set here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/782435?tstart=0
Post #1 describes where and  what Key to look for. Post#4 at the very bottom gives the solution if the Kill-bit is set. If you find that is set and after you have extracted the file and Saved it to your Desktop, Close all browser windows. Also Disable you Anti-Virus, then run that file and when it's finished, Reboot.
Then see if that takes care of it.

  • My macbook's sound won't work - no output devices found in settings?

I've been having a lot of issues with my Macbook.  It has a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and is running on version 10.6.8 Mac OS X.  It asks for certification whenever surfing the web or loading websites, and always redirects to a different page.  Now, the sound won't work at all - regardless of mute on/ off or sound turning up and down. I went to settings to check out the problem, and there is no output or input device listed or found on that page.  I have no idea what's going on, and now, even though it's plugged in it won't charge.

First thing I would try for your sound output issue would be to reset the parameter RAM.
    Best of luck.
