  • Official Zen Micro Case. Any Go

Hi, I have just received zen micro number 4 from the Creative RMA department after a string of problems?with dead players and headphone jack?issues.
?I wondered whether I should get the official zen micro case. Has anyone got good experience with this case? I want to keep my headphones plugged in but store it in the case at the same time. Will this be possible? I have a cheap silcone skin case at the moment but maybe wanted something a little more sturdy for my rucksack.
    thanks

Thank you Alicia. Geez, I can't really understand why people are making protecti've cases that don't protect the most scratch prone surface of the Micro....
I think I'll end up buying a silicone case and one of those screen protecti've films designed for PDAs and cell phones. Too bad there's nothing better around.

  • Creative Zen Micro Case/ Accessor

I recently purchased the Creative Zen Micro Case. I've had a purple ZM since they came on the market and really haven't had any problems other than one crash where I lost everything. That was annoying but it did force me to put new stuff on which I don't do on a regular basis.
I have the white Capdase case but was looking for something with a belt clip. The quality of some of the cases with clips isn't that fantastic and not terribly stylish. I decided to go with the Creative case because it was finally available, looked nice and the website claimed it had a clip. They say "clip it to your belt or waistband, or wear it around your neck". The website doesn't have any really good pics of the back of the case though.
The case arri'ved this week. This case does not have a clip. It has a leather loop on the back, attached at one end with a snap. So I could snap it around a belt loop on pants, belt (if I wore one), perhaps snap it around my wrist, around a bag or through my clothes (although that doesn't work and I don't want holes in my clothes). I was very disappointed. I called Creative and complained about the difference between clip and snap. They easily gave me a return authorization number and I shipped it back yesterday.
Just thought anyone looking for a case and considering the Creative one should know so they may avoid disappointment.
Anyway, I purchased a custom Vaja (vajacustom.com) case yesterday. I should have it in a month. The company is in Miami but everything is made in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Yes, this is the same company as Vajacases.com but now you can customize your case and make it any color you want for the same price. Mine will have a lavendar front and violet back... and yes it will have a belt clip. I seriously researched the clip it came with to avoid that mistake again.
    Other Accessories:
I have the Vivid 60 speakers in purple and they are fantastic. Great for the office or any place where its important to hear what's going on around you (i.e., can't wear ear buds).
But I wish there was a docking station in production. Does anyone know if that guy who did zenmicrodock.com is actually going to produce them?

Oh man, I got that case and I hate it. When my Micro is in it, the case doesn't firmly close, and I'm afraid that it will pop open and my Micro will get scratched worse than just being carried around in my pocket.

  • Zen Micro Case Quest

Not sure this belongs here...but I have a question about the Creative Zen Micro leather case. You shouldn't get magnets near Mp3 players such as a micro, but the leather case shuts with a magnet. Is this actually safe, or can a keep using mine?

Should be no problem. The magnet is very weak and will not interfere with the player...

  • Anyone bought the Creative Zen Micro Case y

    Hi all,
Just wanted to know if anyone can rate the case for the micro that creative put out. Wondering also if the clip is as weak as the one that came with the 5Gb package (slides into cradle). Thanks

  • Questions about the zen micro leather case???

    hey everyone,
i saw the pictures of the zen micro leather case in the US store and was going to get them until i heard that the case is quite useless and annoying with the two-way flap open. Do you still think i should get them or a diiferent one(im DESPERATE to get one!!)
    thanks everyone.

There are several designs out there including... the flexi-skin (at Boxwave.com as well as eBay), Noreve's, Krussell's?and Vaja. It really comes down to what you want from a case. I've gone for a flexi-skin as I want easy access to the controls, and I kept my screen protector (but screen protectors are easy enough to buy).

  • Cheap/free DIY Zen Micro/Photo Case and wall charg

Ahoy! I've been on the Head-Fi forums and figured to check out these and didnt find much.
Its simple to make a hardcase for your Zen Micro or Micro Photo, check out mine!
I used a penguins mint tin, (like Altoids but caffinated)
also, the standard wall charger for USB motorola phones will charge your Zen Micro Photo
its still a 5v usb charger, it works and you can find them cheaper than one from
    creative
    <img border="0" alt="My DIY Case" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/Fev3r/Zen/DSCN087Small.jpg">

    [url="http://photobucket.com/"><img border="0" alt="My DIY Case" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/Fev3r/Zen/DSCN9986Small.jpg">[/url]
This was very easy to do.
Take the mint tin, trace it onto the back of a peice of foam (the white plasticy side)
cut slightly inside the line, about /3 a centimeter.
measure the height of the tin and take about /5 to /4 of a cm off of that and cut straight down the long edge of the foam, its an exact fit (if you want it fitted like mine)
you will need TWO of these, its double layered
Check the fit of the peice before you place anything.
i placed the sides first but do whatever you find easiest.
fold the long peices in half to find the center and just start applying from the bottom of the tin.
next, cut a peice big enough to cover your screen but not the buttons.
take the sticky side off and lay the foam, sticky side up, onto the screen. close the tin.
Your MOST of the way done
now take a dremel (what i used) or what ever else. maybe a nail and hammer the corners and scisor the between? (that may be sharp)
and you have yoruself a great case everyone will marvel at and youll be proud of it, post your pics here or atleast email me at [email protected]

I deal with the slight buzzing while the screen is on, i just haev my screen cut off in 0sec of idle and its good to go, thats a known bug.
Also, one time my zen kinda froze booting but that was a fluke adn has been fine since then.
I Love my hard case i made, it has a mysterious ding in it but that just means that i spared my zen from that same ding.
I've been IM'd and asked abotu it overheating in the enclosure and i've used it in the sun for hours on end and the zen itself stays cool, i dont think there is a problem with that at all.
If you rmaking one know that its one layer of foam on the bottom and two on the sides.
the easiest way to apply the screen protector is to peel the sticky off of lay it on the screen, sticky side up and then just close the lid.
I had the idea of putting a hole in the lid where the screen is and glueing the clear plastic from a CD case but scrapped that idea because it would look tacky and get dirty.

  • Zen micro hard case ideas in the

there was a great thread with people's ideas for hard pouches for their zen micro a while ago - mobile phone cases, altoids tins etc. These were perfect but available only in dollars. anyone got any British ideas?
    thanks

    From www.altoids.com:

<SPAN class=darkyellowBold>A:<SPAN>Currently, Altoids are most popular in the United States, although they are also available in Great Britain (of course), Germany, Canada and Japan.

  • New cases for ZEN MP (and ZEN Micro) - and other accessor

    All,
Not sure if anyone noticed this, but there is a new case available in the US for the ZEN Micro Photo and the ZEN Micro. It's the Belkin Sport Case for ZEN Micro Photo and can be seen here:
    http://us.creative.com/products/prod...y=&product=454
Also coming very soon is going to be a leather case from Belkin for the exact same players. It's not up quite yet as we are waiting for stock still but it should be up in the next few days. I'll post when it comes up.
We also added a Belkin TuneDok for ZEN Micro/MicroPhoto: http://us.creative.com/products/prod...7&product=4535
and a Sync Adaptor for ZEN Vision:M: http://us.creative.com/products/prod...7&product=4539
    Jeremy

I think it really depends on what you are looking for. The ZM/ZMP leather case has a cover that you have to open and shut to access the controls unless you have the remote and there is only a belt loop on the back versus a clip if you want to attach it to your body. The Belkin case has an open style front but fully protected with plastic and has three options of carrying (hand strap, waist strap or removable swi'vel clip). Plus it is neoprene whereas the other case is leather.
So I guess it depends on what you are looking for.
BTW ... I have the Pdaden/Capdase leather flip case in black for my ZMP and it is fabulous for the price $24.00 shipped. Has a removable swi'vel clip and the leather is surprisingly nice quality for the price. It is a flip case, so you have to open the cover to access controls but I'm interested in the Belkin because the front is accessible.

  • New Zen Micro will NOT connect!

    Hello all,
I just bought a Creative Zen Micro player. I installed the software, charged the battery to full and guess what.....the Creative software does not recognize my player as being connected. And yes, I've checked device manager to see if it appears. It does, with the correct name and everything. So what is the problem? I've read other messages on this forum about this problem but it usually seems to be a problem after installing a new version of firmware. But this hasn't been done in my case because I haven't been able to get the stupid thing connected in the first place.
I'm confused as to what to do next. I've tried resetting it by removing the battery and then holding the power button but this hasn't worked either. I first was using a usb hub to connect but after reading that you should avoid this, I tried plugging directly into a usb port on my machine. That also didn't make a difference. I've unistalled the player from the device manager about 5 times and reinstalled it. I've tried reinstalling the creative software/drivers about 5 times and no resolution. I've followed instructions from the Creative website step by step as the proper way to install the software but nothing works. I'm extremely disappointed to bring home a product that does not work out of the box. Oh, and yes I have Windows XP Pro so the OS isn't the issue here. I guess I will just return this useless product unless someone else has another idea that I could try. I'm really at my wits end.
Thanks for listening to this short novel,
    Drawn-a-Blank

The software that will not recognize the player is the Zen Media Explorer and Media Source. I'm not sure what firmware I have and I can't check since I'm not at home. But, I can't install new firmware even if I wanted too since it won't connect. However, I have downloaded the lastest drivers but I don't think I've installed the lasted version of Zen Media Explorer, so I guess that is one other option.

  • Creative MediaSource won't recognize my Zen Micro all of the sudden!! What is going o

When I first began using my Zen Micro, Creative MediaSource worked fine. I could start my player and it recognized it right away. Then I was told I had to update my firmware and download an update to MediaSource. I did both but shortly thereafter I started having problems! Primarily, when i plug in my Micro a window pops up where I have 3 options, none of which are Creative MediaSource. The window has "MTP Media Player" across the top bar, but i havn't a clue what the "MTP" stands for. The 3 options given are "Sync your music using Napster", "Synchronize media files to this device using Windows Media Player", and "Take no action". I initialy tried "Take no action" and then opened MediaSource only to find it didn't recognize my Micro any more. I then e-mailed Creative for help and got a reply telling me to.............
Thank you for contacting Creative Technical Support.
In regards to your issue, you can try uninstall and reinstall
    MEdiaSource with these procedures.
. Click START -> RUN -> type MSCONFIG and click OK.
    2. Click SELECTIVE STARTUP and then uncheck LOAD STARTUP GROUP ITEMS.
    3. Apply the changes and reboot the computer when prompted.
    4. Uninstall MediaSource from the system using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
    5. Manually delete the MediaSource folders from the computer system :
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\CTCDDB
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIA MANAGER
    C:\MEDIA\MUSIC
    6. Right-click your My Computer icon and click Properties.
    7. Click the Hardware tab and then click Device Manager.
    8. Remove any listings for Creative NOMAD products in the Device
    Manager
(they will most likely be located in the Uni'versal Serial Bus
    Controllers category).
    9. If you have a category call Other Devices, look for listings in
    there
called USB Device. If you have any, remove them.
    0. Install MediaSource only from the original installation CD.
NOTE: DO NOT OPEN MEDIASOURCE WHILE PERFORMING THESE PROCEDURES.
Also, you can try reloading the Zen Micro's firmware through recovery
    mode.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert
the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue
    mode appears.
Clean Up: Performs a disk scan on the players hard disk
Format: Formats the players hard disk All contents will be lost
Reload OS: Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Do not select
this option unless you have downloaded the firmware. Reloading your OS
will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Jukebox Zen
    Reboot: Reboots the device
Please attempt the options 'Reboot' and 'Clean Up' first. If they do
    not
help, you must try 'Reload OS'. To do this, you must have a downloaded
firmware from our website ready. Please let us know the results after
these steps, as soon as possible.
For faster service please reply with previous correspondence when
    replying to this email.

    "Get Creative"
I followed the directions, but 3 of the folders listed in step 5 didn?t exist (only C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE did), there were no Creative NOMAD products listed as in step 8, and there was no ?Other Devices? as stated in step 9. I did everything else for all the steps through step 0.
I then re-installed Creative MediaSource from the CD only to find it still didn?t recognize my player! I?ve now done this twice with the same results!
Zen Micro Media Explorer doesn?t even recognize my Micro when it'ss plugged in! It just keeps saying ?The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen Micro to the computer?.
I?m hardly a tech expert, but it seems to me that something on my PC is detecting my player and decieding for itself that the only 2 programs it will let manage my Zen Micro are Napster and Windows Media Player. If this is the case where do I go from here?!?!

    LakeTahoeGuy,
Just as SSR mention, if you're using v2.xx.xx (MTP) firmware then you will need to get the correct version of Media Explorer that support this firmware and also install the MTP plugin for MediaSource. Both the software and plugin are available from the site SSR mention.

  • How to transfer all music in my Zen Micro to either my PC or another mp3 player....help ple

i have a creative micro zen with about 000 handpicked and some very hard to find songs on it...i don't really have trouble with the player itself, just the software and the continous problems seems like everyone is having with something... my question is this..........if i wanted to get another mp3 player as a backup in case this one crashes, then what does everyone think about one of the smaller ipods? what about their software and such? and, if i do decide to get an ipod, then how would i transfer all these 000 mp3 songs onto the new ipod? would there be an issue with the fact that they are not bought from itunes?? would it not be safe to do that? and if it is okay to do that,? how would i transfer the songs back onto my PC, as i have tried everything suggested on this board recently in trying to do that using Mediasource and it just won't work even after downloading all new plugins etc. if someone has an idea about this, please let me know step by step if possible about how i can get these songs that are valuable to me from my zen micro, to my computer, and then onto another mp3 and if ipod (nano for instance) is a wise choice or if there is another player in the same category that others have found they have waaaay less problems with and better support/service with it's?any help anyone gives would be greatly appreciated!? i appreciate all the suggestions to my other questions as well!?thanks, barb

for a new mp3 player, i would get this one, its awesome (and the one i would get if i had a choice instead of my microphoto that broke)... here's a link
