Zen Micro & Treo 600 USB sync collis

So I had a working Handspring Treo USB sync process for a while, and later when I installed the drivers for the Zen Micro and then Creative MediaSource Organizer, I found that I had somehow broken both. Same situation with Zen Micro Media Explorer, and uninstalling/reinstalling does not seem to remedy the problem. I was surprised to not see this issue here - am I just overlooking something obvious?

I sync my Treo600 on the same pc as my Zen Micro. - and I haven't had any problems....
I didn't have an acti've Treo sync going when I first installed the Zen Micro software... But It has never been an issue.
Maybe ask over on the brighthand.com treo600 forums...

  • Can you charge a drained Zen Micro using the USB of the compu

This what happend.. my Zen Micro got drained.. so i decided to charge via USB of my computer.. but it wasnt charging? what may be the problem?

yep.. thats my current version of firmware.. yeah, the first time i charged with a USB.. it didnt charge because i forgot to slide it to lock mode... when i tried sliding it to lock mode, it was charging.. but this happened when i charged the battery was not yet drained..
So, the other day i forgot to charge it, i just noticed it was drained already.. so i decided to charge it via USB of my pc.. i slide it to lock mode, but nothing happened.. it wasnt charging... thats why i had this question that if your player is drained already, you cannot charge it via USB.. it should be via the power outlet... can this be true?

  • Zen Micro and Outlook 2003 Sync

I recently purchased the Zen Micro. While I am extremely happy with the Audio quality the Oultoook syncing doesn't work properly. I have tried many times with a huge amount of frustration to sync Outlook 2003 only to find out that any calendar entry that is a "Series of Meetings" that was entered in the past is just ignored by the Zen Micro. I even tried to update the series by typing in a carriage return into each meeting to update the meeting but to no preval. Is this really the way the Zen Micro is designed to work or is the documentation just lacking?

I just wanted to second everyone's comments for Creative's benefit. I just picked up my Orange Zen Micro yesterday - am loving it - but ran into the same Outlook 2003 issue. When I initially synced just the calendar, it transferred nothing. Then I checked BOTH "contacts" and "calendar" (even though I have no contacts), and it transferred my calendar.
I then discovered that roughly 25% of my meetings transferred over. I also pinned it down to any meetings that are marked to "reoccur" in Outlook fail to transfer to my Zen Micro. That's unfortunate as the vast majority of my appointments reoccur.
I called Creative Tech Support today, and they confirmed that their development team is aware of the problem and should *hopefully* have a fix out. We shall see.....

  • Zen Micro Freezes when USB plugged

My 5 day old Zen Micro 6 GB freezes when I plug it in with the USB cable. It freezes on the "Now Playing" screen. And then I get a little window that pops up on my desktop saying "USB device not recognized." The only way to un freeze it is to remove the battery.
I've also found that if I turn the player on, and have it in Menu, NOT playing any song, it will dock fine.
    I'm using firmware 2..02.
    I've tried (in this order)
    Re-formatting with 2..02
    Disk Clean up
Uninstalling EVERYTHING on my PC and then reinstalling it
Still getting the same error. I'm running WIN XP SP2.
Anyone offer any advice?Message Edited by pi534 on 06-9-2005 06:44 PM

The same problem happens with my 5 gb Zen Micro. But I have noticed that, it happens when I plug it to an USB port with extension cord. It never happens when I use it through my laptop's USB but in my Uni'versity's lab when I plug it in the USB port which is in front of the case by using an extra cable, it freezes. I have to turn the case around and directly connect to the USB. I don't know why but that's the solution I found

  • Zen Micro freezes on USB connect

The other day, I hooked up my Micro to my computer to transfer some files. Part way through, it errored out, saying the connection was broken (or something to that effect). Since then, every time I plug in the Micro to my computer it just freezes up; I have to remove the battery to reset it. It still played normally, though, as long as I didn't connect it to my computer.
I went into recovery mode and did the Clean Files and Format options, but it still has the same problem (and now I have no music on it to play). I'm afraid of resetting the firmware since I can't connect it to my computer. Any ideas on how to fix this thing? Thanks.

Yea, I've read the FAQ and troubleshooting. I can get into rescue mode but when I select any option it then freezes along with more clicking. I've spent the last two hours reading about this, I'm quite certain it's hard dri've failure/sticking. My last mp3 player got stolen and I had to wait a week to receive my zen micro in the mail. Now I have to wait another few weeks to have it fixed. I need it at work, so my life sucks without my mp3 player. This is very not cool. Thanks for your reply, btw. Unfortanetly, I don't think there is anything I can do.

  • Zen Micro USB chargi

Never have I had more difficulty finding an answer to a rather simple question...
Can the Zen Micro charge via USB?
I searched the knowledge base here, and found one article that was a FAQ for the Zen Micro that indicated it would answer the issue of "USB Charging" but does not do so.
    I'll ask the question here:
Can the Zen Micro charge via USB?
If not, Creative, then why not . . . my original Nomad charges via USB as do its successors.
    Thanks
    Artie

Yes it does. I just left it plugged in last night after exhausting the battery and transferring music and this morning it had a full charge.

  • Zen Micro detected as MTP Device? Is that norm

The Zen Micro drivers under C:\Program Files\Creative\Jukebox 3 Drivers\ no longer work after the firmware upgrade, but I was able to install it as a generic "MTP Device". Is this normal? Shouldn't it be labeled as Creative Zen Micro and not MTP Device?
It still works with WMA and Napster To Go, but I'm concerned that I cannot install the Zen Micro Media Explorer because it cannot find the player.

I'm having the same problem!!? Today I downloaded the latest firmware (2.2.02) to see if it would then allow me to transfer a Real Player download I bought (it didn't, that's a whole separate, awful problem).
After I downloaded the firmware, now when I connect my Zen Micro player by USB, the computer detects it as an MTP device and neither my Zen Micro MEdia Explorer software nor the Creative MediaSource Organizer will recognize it!!
I had to re-transfer all my songs just with windows?folders copying files from one folder to the "mtp device".
What?does this MTP device mean? Why did this change? Is my creative software now useless?
    Any help? thanks so much!!

  • Zen micro photo charging without

How do I charge my zen micro photo using USB without XP? I tried charging using my office PC running Win 2000. I left it plugged in for 8 hours and my battery level never increased.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    OZ

I tried switching to mass storage mode, plugged to USB (with Win2000), waited ~2.5 hours and no increase in battery level. Thanks for the suggestion, but it is annoying that my ZMP does not have support for Win2000 in the first place, but now it can't even charge without XP.
    Creative!!! Here are some suggestions
    . Windows 2000 support.
    2. USB charge capability with at least Win2000.
    3. New software to manage files and playlists already on the ZMP.
I still have another week to return the ZMP, but it looks like I'll return it.

  • Zen Micro Problem- Email support not helpin

I tried email support, I waited over 24 hours just to have someone tell me to upgrade the firmware. I know this is not the problem and I have the upgraded firmware. I thought I would bring my problem here for assistance since I am getting canned responses from the email support team. Heres the problem:?Sunday Night- I put my Zen Micro on the USB charger, I have a trip on Monday and wanted to be sure I have a full charge. Monday morning- I notice that the Zen Micro is on, and has a blank screen. I can see a little line at the bottom, I can scroll through the keys but nothing on the screen. I take the battery out and put the unit away, at this point I have to leave and I opt not to take the unit with me.
Friday- I come back from my trip and decide to further research my problem. I find that I cannot reset the unit, I cannot access the restore screen. I hold the power in the ON position and insert the battery. I wait about 5 seconds, nothing is happening so I let off the power. At this point I get a blank screen. I plugged the unit into the USB charger (unit is off) and I get a blank screen. The blue LED light around the unit dims and brightens which to me indicates it is charging. Windows XP gives me the found new hardware wizard but Media player 0 attempts to locate the device and comes back to tell me to connect the device. I just bought this unit in December and was not expecting it to fail me this soon.
Saturday- I email support. The support team emails me back after 24 hours and gives me the firmware upgrade canned response. I have replied to that email but I would like to get this resolved pretty quick since I am now week into this ordeal.
I do alot of flying, the MP3 player makes the long flights a little more tolerable. This is my first time to purchase a creative unit. I weeded through some threads here and found other folks with the same problem. I assume that Creative Labs is aware of this problem and working to implement a fix soon that will resolve any future problems. I have my email headers, and contact information available upon request. I look forward to a speedy and sensible solution to this problem. Sincerely,Tim

What I am learning is that customer service is not really service. I was telling everybody about my great Zen Micro but, if I don't get a timely response, will start spreading the word. It's?frustrating to spend money on a product that doesn't even last eight months and that they don't support. I want to buy reliable electronics from companies that stand behind them. I wonder what it takes to get their attention.

  • Charging zen micro from mac powerbo

I know that Creative doesn't support Macs, but can I charge my Zen Micro via the USB port on my Powerbook? Even if I can't load music, etc, will it transfer a charge?
Alternately, will my charger work with an outlet in europe if i attach an adapter to it--and i mean just an adapter for the prongs not a voltage adapter?
    thanks,
    ed

Firmware 2.22 should be able to just charge as well as ..
So here's what you do to just charge via USB:
) Turn your Zen Micro off.
    2) Switch the power switch to the hold position.
    3) Plug the Micro to the powerbook's USB.
Then the Micro's display should say that it is charging.
Note: There's no software option to let the Micro only charge via USB; the only way is the way I described above (if not, please correct me).

  • Creative Zen Micro isn't detected

When I connect the Creative Zen Micro with the USB cable the computer asks me wether I'd like to synchronise my player with Windows Media Player or do nothing, but then it always gives me a message, that the computer can't detect the player. I can't put new music on it, for example via explorer, nor I can update the Firmware or something else. I rolled Windows Media Player back on a lower edition and installed WMP0, but it still does not work. I use Windows XP.
Additional the player rebuilds library everytime I switch it on, plus some time ago there were several music files on the player deleted - without me doing anything.
Does somebody know what to do?

Did you erase your firmware?Have you done a Cleanup>Reboot on the player? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3

  • Zen Micro firmware update, but can't backup files b/c "player is not connect

I want to update the firmware on my Zen Micro 5GB so I can put new songs on it through Creative Mediasource, but the computer won't read the device---all i get is the error message "player not connected." I opened up the firmware download, however, and i am able to install it on the player (somehow now the computer seems to know the player is there--the zen micro responds to the update), but it warns to backup all files as they will be lost in the update. I cannot backup my songs to the computer because it won't recognize the player as connected! What the heck can i do to backup my files?

what in the world? i unplugged my zen micro from the USB port as i was giving up for the night trying to make it work, when i decided to try it one last time. all of a sudden creative mediasource popped up from the minimize and it read my player like normal. very strange...

  • Vista 64 Treo 600 Sync Solution that should also work for Vista 32

Ok Here is a partial solution for a Treo 600 (Bell) with Vista 64 (along with my Treo 755p TELUS)
I recently purchased an Acer with Vista 64 to replace a XP machine that was having increasing hardware failures. I did not know at the time there was no support for Vista 64 and that Palm had only released a Vista 32 desktop the week before.
I managed to install the Vista 32 bit desktop software on my Vista 64 machine with no error messages but when I tried to install my Treo 755p I found out about the lack of Palm USB Vista 64 drivers
Insert Palm wasting time on Folio instead of Treo driver support rant @#!%!#%^^!#^@^@!%#!!!!!!! (I know it should be longer but most of it has been said before) Ok back to business.
    Treo 755p
On the Palm forums I found the instructions for getting a Treo 755p to sync via Bluetooth
I followed the instruction and purchased a Blue Tooth USP key (Oh and I tried the Kensington - Bluetooth 2.0 USB Adapter first...^$%^@@^@^!!!!! before I found the Iogear USB Bluetooth 2.0 Class 1 Wireless Adapter which works fine and is the only one I would recommend) I now have my Treo 755p working with Vista 64 with only one error message (I'll get back to it later)
    Treo 600
I was not impressed with the fact that this device had not support at all from Palm for Vista (32 or 64) $#%^!%!^@^@^%@ (ok I feel better)
I found a suggestion from a UK site that mentioned you could sync a Treo 600 via IR and even suggested the correct IR USB unit to buy (SITECOM CN-100)
    http://www.sitecom.com/product.php?productname=USB+to+fast+IrDA+adapter&productcode=CN-100&productid...
Unfortunately that particular IR USP reader is only sold in the UK. So I took a chance and ordered a "Cables Unlimited USB IRDA Adapter tem Number: C250-1160 (about $17.00 Cdn). It arrived a few days later and it installed on my Vista 64 machine immediately without requesting any "driver disk" I followed the instruction from Palm on how to set up a USB Sync and tried to sync. The Vista machine identified the Palm and was willing to work but the Palm desktop and active sync was not responding. I reread the IR instructions and it requires you to complete a USB sync first (@!#$!$#%!^%!#%~%!!!!!!!)
So I took a night to think about it. My only solution I could think about was to see if I could fake out the Palm desktop / sync software. I fired up the old XP device and copied the user profile for the Treo 600 and copied it into the correct location on the new Vista 64 machine. I tried IR sync and low and behold it worked. (Oh and an IR Sync takes a very, very long time) After the first sync I received a few errors, my Documents to Go files were in new locations, some calendar and memos were duplicated all were very minor. I manually fixed those errors and then completed IR Sync and the Treo 600 now works with a Vista 64.
Of course this solution only works providing you have access to your old Profile, but I figure if you been using a Treo 600 you probably not a new user. If your completing a totally new install on Vista I would suggest find a XP machine install it on it and complete sync, then copy that profile to the Vista machine.
    Treo 755p Back up Error
The one error I received was it was unable to back up this file PmTraceDatabase
The message read: “Protocol Error: Handheld file could not be opened. (4004)
    -SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN”
I looked for this file in my profile on the old XP machine and was unable to locate it, but I noticed they the Treo 600 didn't have this message when I copied over the entire profile, I tried to do the same with my Treo 755p profile but the error did not go away. So after researching the Palm Forums I found this simple solution
    http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=windows_hotsync&message.id=28291&query.id=134275#...
So now that I have spent the last 3 weeks trying to get both of our Palms working with Vista 64 I figure the 64 bit USB drivers should be available any day now.......oh and I'm now hating Vista less......
Post relates to: Treo 600 (Bell Mobility)

Used Cables unlimited IrDA wireless Bridge....followed instructions...installed included software...even with Vista 64 and Zire 31...worked like a charm!

  • IBM T30 XP USB error with Zen Micro. Does not recognize dev

I've tried everything I can think of on this board and others. Zen Micro, IBM T30 laptop, 2 usb ports on back, Windows XP. Downloaded latest everything I can find. USB does not recognize device. Error report shows "USB Root Hub (2 ports) ---> Unknown Device"
    Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Tried one last thing, just for grins...
Put the IBM into it's docking station, which has another USB on the dock (low speed, though), and voila! It worked! Go figure what's different but since it was working, I took that opportunity to blow in the new firmware, and also upgraded to ZenMicroP4S_PCFW_LB_2__02 to get away from drivers all together (and to use Napster2go, my ultimate goal through all of this!) Syncing with MP0 worked great. Even an explorer view with folders and such, so all is well.
Since everything seems to be working, I'll stick with it for now!
Can I now delete Zen Micro Media Explorer from my system? (it doesn't seem to recognize the device anyway)
    Thanks!
