Zen V Plus - Resume on Pause Funct

Hi,
I want to buy a MP3 for reading audio books. I am thinking about buying the Zen V Plus.
However, I have to confirm on the most important feature for me -- "resume".
I heard that Zen V does not resume after pressing pause and let the unit automatically turn into sleep mode.
Have this problem been fixed with the new firmware yet? I will buy it if this problem has been fixed.

Thank you for you suggestions.
I did bought Zen V Plus and played with it for a while. Unfortunately I have to refund it at the end because of the resume and bookmark feature.
The player is very nice. The interface is easy to use. The joystick control works better than I imagined. However, the bookmark feature didn't work as I expected it to be. It is a bit hard to set (too many buttons to press), not particular convenient for a feature that I need to use frequently. And the other problem is it doesn't seem to remember the playlist when the bookmark was set (there might be a way for the bookmark to remember the playlist? I didn't spend too much time investigating it)
When I press pause, (which I need to do very frequently during a day) and turn off the player, the position will be lost. I can use the power button, if it is a button. But it's not a button, it's a slider that I need to press for a few seconds to turn on and off. I guess I can simply use the pause without turning it off, but there's a risk that the player will turn off itself after a prolonged idling.
I have bought and refund 3 different players during the last few months, sadly none of them are very audio book friendly. Currently I am using the pocket pc (with some customized solution) for the audio books, it's clumsy and with the way I use it, I don't think the unit will last very long. I hope Creative will come up with something that fix the pause and bookmark function soon.

  • Zen V Plus - popping / crackling when you pause or change trac

Hi, I just bought a new Zen V Plus, and every time I go the next track or hit pause, I hear a faint crackle or pop sound. I just want someone to verify for me whether this is standard for the creative or not. Very disappointed here.
For the record, I already tried upgrading the firmware and that didn't help.

Since your post I have tried repeatedly pausing & un-pausing a track. And yes, some times there is a slight clicking a short time after pausing.
It seems to be programme dependant. In a near silent section of recording, it does not seem to happen.
Anyway, since I don't generally sit there pausing & un-pausing all day, it doesn't bother me - I'd never noticed it in normal use.
    EDIT:
Maybe it's related to the inherent delay in the MP3/WMA decoding process. Perhaps that would explain the slight delay and the programme dependence.Message Edited by daytona955 on 06-9-20070:2 AM

  • Zen V Plus pausing the audiob

So you know how in iTunes under song info you can tell the iPod to remember playback position in an audiobook you put on your iPod. Like not from iTunes or Audible. So is there a way to have the Zen V Plus remember the playback position of the audiobook I uploaded to it's I don't want to have to find my place every time!

Hold down the Menu button and choose Set Bookmark and select a slot to put it in. When returning to play the book again, select Bookmarks on the menu and select the saved Bookmark.

  • ZEN NANO PLUS MICROPHONE FUNCT

HELLO, I'M SEARCHING SOMEONE WHO CAN EXPLAIN ME HOW DOES IT WORK THE MICROPHONE OF THE ZEN NANO PLUS TO MAKE EXTERNAL RECORDING.AT THE BEGINNING WHEN I BOUGHT THE MP3 PLAYER IT WORKED VERY WELL, LATER THE RECORDING WORKS BUT AT THE END THE DISPLAY SHOWS A WAV FILE.WHEN YOU PRESS IN THE DISPLAY THE KEY OF THE RECORDED FILES APPEARS "NO REGISTRATION".WHY SO, WHEN THE RECORD WORKED?THE SAME FILE CREATED IN THE MP3 CAN BE READ IN THE PC WHEN THIS IS CONNECTED TO THE PC. THIS IS VERY STRANGE. IN SHORT,THE PIECE RECORDED CANNOT BE LISTENED INTO THE MP3 PLAYER.iS THERE SOMEONE THAT CAN HELP ME?(THE INSTRUCTION OF THE PRODUCT DOESN'T DISCUSS AT ALL ABOUT THESE TECHNICAL THINGS)THANK YOU.

Are you going to the option of the player called "Recordings" to listen to the recorded file, or are you trying to access them from the "music" menu?
With my older V200, (not the same, but pretty close) I had to go to the "recordings" menu to listen to any microphone or FM recording... My zen Neeon is also the same...
(About the Wav thing, I think that all the older players that could record did so In wav. format... Although a lot of the newer players allow you to change that now...

  • Zen V Plus firmware wishl

I could not find a wishlist for the Zen V / V Plus, so here it is.
Plain and simple just like the other player wishlists. No questions and no discussions. Just topics with firmware improvements for Zen V / V Plus. Hopefully, the Creative developers will see this.
The Zen V Plus is a great multi-function DAP, almost perfect for its niche. It only needs a few improvements.
A list in order of importance to me (most important first):
) Improve the current bookmarking mechanism by saving the current playlist along with the current audio track position. Currently, if you are listening to track number 0 out of 20 tracks for an audiobook and save it to a bookmark, restoring that bookmark will restore only the one saved track to the current playlist. You have to manually add back the other tracks to the current playlist.
    2) When powering-off on a paused audio track, the Zen should power-on paused to the same position in the audio track. Currently, the Zen V powers-on paused to the beginning of the same audio track. I listen to a lot of audio books and track position is important in a power-on resume.
2a) Option to treat an album as continuous audio content so that a rewind started in track 6 will back into track 5 continuously (in other words from the beginning of track 6 to the end of track 5 and so on). This is very important for listening to audio books.
    3) Add FM tuner radio recording.
    4) When scrolling a long list of songs, the scrolling should accelerate.
    5) The lower end of the volume scale in terms of loudness should be quieter. I listen with high sensitivity IEMs at night and level one is too loud.
    6) Audible.com tracks should be in their own album named Audible. Right now they fill up the Album selection list. I have about 40 Audible.com tracks on my Zen V Plus and about 20 music albums. The Audible.com tracks clutter up the album list.
    7) When configuring the menu, unchecked top level items should move into the EXTRAS menu. In other words, unchecking PHOTO would move it into EXTRAS.
    8) Option to backup all Zen V settings and radio presets to the PC.
    9) Allow charging of the Zen V from an ordinary (not Win XP) USB port or from an ordinary USB charger.
    0) Add a sensitivity (low and high) option and/or an AGC (auto gain control) option to voice recording for close and distant recording.
) An option to select all tracks EXCEPT speech tracks like Audible.com tracks, podcasts, and audiobook tracks, so that Shuffle mode will play only music. This might be done by having a setting for genre exclusions (speech, audiobook, podcast, and so on)
    2) A fade in/fade out option.
    3) A configurable HOLD option (lock all, not volume, not play/pause, not both).
    4) Scheduled FM recording.
It would be nice if the Zen V Plus could play compressed video, but I presume that with a small battery and low power processor, this is not possible.Message Edited by IpaqMan on 2-05-200609:2 AM

Glad this form is here. I was considering buying a Zen V Plus. I currently use a zen nano plus to listen mostly to audible books. My complaints:. Can't lock it so that if it's sitting in a purse it sometimes accidently turns on and then keeps going until it sues up the battery2. You have to scroll through everything on the zen nano plus in order to get to the book you want to listen to.I thought I would change to the Zen V Plus but am very concerned that you can't rewind within a track. Iuse that a lot and don't want to only be able to go back or forward to a a chapter or track. I tried using a Sandisk Sansa?c40 which had this characteristic and it drove me crazy and I went back to my Zen Nano.
I 'd like a player that has a menu so that you can choose the book or music you want to go to from a menue - withhout scrolling , but that allows you to rewind\fastforward inside the book by the second. ANy ideas? Thanks?Message Edited by lisamp3 on 05-0-20072:26 PM

  • Zen Nano Plus Playb

When I turn off my Zen Nano Plus, I want the player to resume from where I left off (usually in the middle of my audio book), but it goes back to the beginning of the file. It only started doing this recently... Is there a setting I can change so I can listen from where I left off? Thanks, Dave

It should work every time but sometimes doesn't. Others have noticed that it is more likely to resume where you finished if your pause the track first before shutting the player off.

  • Zen V Plus stops playing

    Hi everyone,
    nice forum New to it.
Allright, to the subject. I recently bought a zen v plus 8gb. I noticed that sometimes while listening to music on it, it sometimes just stops playing. Like its paused. But on screen it still says its playing (the play icon is still on), but the playtime is stopped to. anyone have any ideas?
    Greetz and thanks in advance,
    MTFDarkEagle?

I have the exact same problem. It happens if you listen to a track and press back to either rewind or skip back to a previous track. The second playthrough will "pause" at some point requiring you to press the play button to make it resume. It is quite an annoying glitch which I have yet to find a solution for. The last (very outdated) firmware doesn't address the issue and every topic I have seen regarding the problem seem to go unresolved. I can certainly li've with it, but it will be the last time I ever buy a Creative MP3 player.

  • My Zen V Plus doesn't seem to remember the point in playback if it goes into idle shutd

I have a Zen V Plus, purchased apx 6 months ago. I use it with my I-Mac so also use XNJB .4.6 to manage my music.
I find, specifically if I'm listening to a mix, that if I stop using my player and then return to it that it doesn't remember where I left off.
    Is there anyway around this?
Any help would be appreciated.Message Edited by Timma on 06-30-200703:38 AM

If you power off with the switch while a track is playing, play will resume where you left off.
If the track is paused when power off happens (either by idle time out or using the switch) play resumes at the start of the track.

  • Creative Zen V Plus Backli

Sup all!?I really hope it'ss not defecti've but for the past week it seems to be losing its display power (most likely called the Backlight). It's almost to the point to where I can't even see the display. The Backlight seems to be burning out (If possible). I reset it 4 times and it'ss still real dim.
?I checked the contrast and it'ss at 00%. I even tried moving it up and down but as soon as I take it down from 00% I can't see it at all. It says in the online V troubleshooting to go to system/Backlight and then adjust it. Well My Zen V plus has the system folder and then a folder called player settings and that?s where I find the contrast but no where does it have a backlight setting.
I?m disappointed since I just got it for Christmas and I only use it at bedtime. The battery is still holding a good charge (So I think anyhow). I?ve charged it full a couple of time of the PC to try to get the backlight problem fixed but no go. The play/pause and the back button still seem to be lighting up just as strong as when I got it. No scratches or marks of any type on the LCD screen, like I said though it'ss been treated good. I?ve never taken it out of the house and the only time I use it is at bed time.
    Thanks for any help.
    Wade

yo tambien tengo el mismo problema, y me acaba de ocurrir hoy de buenas a primeras, cuando lo encendi para escuchar musica no iva el back light.
tendre que llevarlo a la tienda que lo compre para devolverlo.

I also have he himself problem, and she finishes to me happening of today good to first, when start to listen to music not work back light. i will go to take it to the store that buys to give back it it. there is no some solution on the part of creative.

  • Zen Stone Plus: Does it start playing again where i stopped the so

I hope one og you can help me.
I want to know if the Zen stone Plus MP3 player starts in the same song after it has been turned off.
So if I turn it off 3.4min in a song, does it then start at 3.4 when i turn it on again, or does it start from the beginning of the song
The reason i ask is because i often use the mp3-player to hear "sound-books", and the files are often very long, so its very annoying when my current mp3 player starts from the beginning of the file after i have heard maybe 30 min

I believe the pattern with the Stones has been that if you plug them in for charging, even if you don't update the mp3s, playlists, etc., they essentially get "reset" when they resume.
They pick up where you left off as long as you *don't* plug them in for charging, changing what's loaded, etc.
I don't recall it being possible to do something like set a bookmark.
Basically, you should have several hours of play / resume time like you desire, but if you have to charge the player at some point, you'll have to go back to the beginning of the file. Not sure if they can alter this in future firmware or not.

  • Creative Zen V Plus - Seeking your help with "Audio format is not supported" error

    Hi,
I have a problem with my Creative Zen V Plus and am looking for someone to do a quick test to help me. I listen to a lot of MP3 podcasts, so I often rewind, fast forward or set bookmarks inside tracks. When I do those operations in some tracks, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? when I ?land on certain places in a track (and I am able to reproduce the problem, which happens always at the same place in a particular track).
Here is what I mean by ?land?. For instance, there is a particular track (see the mp3 link below) that whenever I rewind to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? and playback is stopped. If I fast forward to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I also get the error. If I set a bookmark to exactly 35 min 37 seconds and I then go to that bookmark, I also get the error. But I don?t get the error if I play the track normally without any rewinding or fast forwarding: the track is played and passes the 35 min 37 seconds mark without any error.
Creative Labs customer support wants me to return my player for repair, but I am not sure if the problem is with my player or if the problem would also be present on other Zen V Plus, thus my asking for your help.
I would appreciate if someone of you could try one of my problematic tracks on their player. Here is what you could do to help me:
1- Download and transfer to your Zen V Plus player the following audio file (it'ss a technology podcast and don?t worry, it'ss virus-free, it comes from CNET):
    http://podcast-files.cnet.com/podcas...oud_090808.mp3
2- Go to the 35 min and 37 seconds mark, press PAUSE and set a bookmark there.
3- Go into the Bookmarks menu and go to the bookmark you just set.
4- Do you see the error ?Audio format is not supported?, or the audio plays just fine? If the audio plays just fine, could you tell me what are the first words you hear
when going to that bookmark, just so that I am sure we are indeed doing the same test on each of our side?
5- What firmware version is your player at ?
Thank you very much for any help you could bring me.
    Patrick

    never mind. figured it out!

  • Zen V plus hiss

I just bought a Zen V plus 8GB model after my microphoto's hard disk died. I use Sennheiser in-ear plugs with it, and there is a very noticeable hissing noise when playing any music that does not approach full volume. I can't hear the hiss with the headphones supplied with the player, but I'd guess that's more a sign of how limited the range of those things is - the hissing with the Sennheisers stops as soon as I press the pause button. Does anyone else have this? Is my player simply a dud? Is there anything that can be done about it's I don't expect this kind of sound "quality" from a player in this price range.

Well, it seems it's not my superior ears, but rather a faulty brain that is at fault here, as far as my personal attributes are concerned. Hardware-wise, I think it is a problem with the sennheisers after all - I hear the same hiss when I plug them in to my amp. They seem to be very sensiti've to noise, I'm not sure if they were like this when I bought them or if this is a new development - I've mainly used them with my now-defunct zen micro photo, which definitely did have a hissing when the backlight was on. That previous experience was also why I was so quick to lay the blame on the player, when I should have done more checking.
Oh well, problem solved, except not really... Now my good earbuds are not so good after all. I wonder if I could do something to filter the noise out...

  • Zen V PLus 4gb inoperative after Firmware upgr

I upgraded the Zen V Plus 4gb to Firmware version .32.0 for Windows Vista 32 bit. After powering down, the player will not power up. The screen remains dark and it is not recognized in Windows Explorer or in the ZEN V Series Media Explorer. Using the reset button and recovery tool has no effect. Holding play while powering up has no effect. Trying to power up or connecting to the computer illuninates the play/pause and options buttons solid blue. Battery status is 80-90% charged. In Device Manager it is displayed as Player Recovery Device Class. Player is approx. six weeks old. Does anyone have any suggestions that would help revi've this player ?

I have that same problem, even without upgrade firmware, with my brand new player.

  • Zen V Plus 4gb Power On/Detection Is

I bought a Zen V Plus 4gb player on Tuesday (December 3st, 2007) when my old Zen V gb died (and it was out of warranty).
I bought this out of familiarity with Creative V series players, and my experiances with them have been positi've so far.
However, when I first put music on the player (I had the software installed beforehand)...about 2.5 gigs into transferring the music, the computer stops recognizing that the Zen V Plus is there. When I checked the actual Zen V Plus, I noticed it was frozen so I pressed the reset button.
The player tried to rebuild the library, and it froze again after maybe 30% progress. I waited around ten minutes, I reset the player again, only to have it then freeze on the "Creative" start up screen, and after waiting another ten minutes (after a lifetime working with computers I have learned patience is a very valuable tool in troubleshooting) I hit the reset button again.
Now, the computer refuses to recognize anything other than the chipset on the player, (its a model number of SMTP3600). I have tried almost every fix here, yet still cant get my player to work.
In addition to the player not being detected, I have the problem of it refusing to turn on. When I hold down the power button to turn it on, the play/pause and back lights blink without the player turning on. I have tried charging it using other USB charging equipment (with the usb cord it came with), without effect. I have tried leaving my computer on for several hours to charge it, with no effect. The charging indicator doesn't even show up..because the screen doesn't work.
Does anyone have a solution to this before I exchange it and buy a different mp3 player?

If you have not already, try the recovery tool to see if it hel
    ps.
If that does not work, it's best to contact support for further assistance on the issue.

  • Brand New Zen V Plus is Fro

My player is less than a week old. The Now Playing screen is constantly displayed. None of the buttons work, even the on-off button. An audio book is at 0:32:07 with -0:22:48 left. This happened as I was fast forwarding to find the place I had left off. For some reason, yesterday as I tried to resume playing the book, it refused to start. After turning the player off and on, it did start to play again at the beginning of the book. In fast forwarding to find my place, just now, it suddenly froze.

Here is a follow up on my post. I just allowed the Zen V Plus to run out of power, so the display finally turned off. Then I connected it to my computer and the Zen began to recharge. After it was recharged, it seemed to be working. The only thing wrong was that it seems to have lost my book license so I had to resynch it. That worked and I again tried to fast forward and find the spot in the book where I had left off. That also worked and I hope my problems are over.
Was my problem an indication that there may be further ones down the road?
