Zend Remote-Finally !!!

Hi All,
Hundreds of dollars and hundreds of hours and finally I can see a basic mysql database table on a remote host.
I'm not quite ready to say Woohoo !!! yet as this took paying for a hosted virtual machine and going through several variations on debian and centos installs before zend stopped ******** about bad versions or channel disconnects of who knows what because apparently zend work on the free-mason principle of only providing any insight if you know the secret hand shake, and to be honest zend can keep there own hand on it.
The point of the exercise was to get zend working in a hosting environment that actually has real bandwidth and real 0% down time, yes there are hundreds of hosts offering cheap very uptodate software hosting but these are far from commercially viable hosts and I might as well test on a commodore 64 for all those cheap hosts are worth.
@Adobe - please please give us a better way to create release builds for php based applications. What would really be nice is the ability to set up a remote server in the wizard then that is used automatically when preparing for release. At the moment the release build doesn't even include the services folder.
(just a thought if the datawizard plugins were open source(or even a basic template) then we would probably see a rash of great plugin extensions or new creations for all things database driven)
@Zend, no faith, no trust, no respect, thats what you have instilled in me. (all I ever asked was for 1 example and configuration of a remote zendAMF setup, but no it was all local or all zend-server). I now use virtual machine hosting(and thats were all current and future clients will be moved to) which allows me to have any software I want, the chances of zend server getting anywhere near it - ZERO, Honestly I think I will end up back with amfphp. I persevere with the zend framework only becuase I need to trust Adobe's decisions otherwise i'm developing in the wrong environment.

I am on pre-release, I didn't see anything in the latest build relating to including the release folder, but i will have a better look, I think the discussions on where zend is heading is divided. I think that when people start trying to get zend working on commercial hosting thats when there will be some negative feedback plus I don't hold hope on improves to an already lack-lustre performance I am seeing on mid sized tables when using zend (30-40% slower than amfphp). As zend continues to add layers of abstraction performance will continue to take hits.
I think for those that like zend's love of abstraction thats fine but the same people don't seem to understand the performance ramifications. Even in its most basic form which many people will want for amf-php its performance is atrocious.
It was Gaurav's(good one Gaurav) work that got me thinking about 'open' templates(maybe i will have to add java to my list of things I need to know).
Thanks for the jira entry, i'll have to go check on it, if you haven't done so already i'll bring it to the attention of the pre-release mob.

Desktop app + iPhone app syncing

Hello,
I have problems with syncing iPhone apps like Remote and 1password with desktop apps (iTunes & 1password).
First and foremost – my firewall *allows all incoming connections*. I triple-checked it and it’s ok.
Second – FileMagnet has no problems connecting and I’m able to sync files over the air without any issues.
Both apps (Remote, 1password) take ages connecting. Remote finally fails throwing me an error.
I know it’s something wrong with my Mac or Wi-Fi, because I’m able to connect to my iTunes library with Remote at work with my MacBook Air.
Can you help me? Or should I reinstall the whole OS? :/

A couple of possibilities.
Is your wi-fi set up as 'g' or 'n'? Some people have reported problems connecting to 'n' networks. You might try switching settings, or trying a mixed setting (if the router allows it).
Is your router allocating a legit address to the iPhone? Possible factors are: more than one DHCP server on the network; IP addresses fixed to mac addresses, and an address conflict (I had this when I got my 3G - it was trying to use the same IP address allocated to my old iPhone, and the mapping was fixed).
What frequency is wi-fi at? Some routers allow 5GHz as well as 2.4GHz on 'n' networks. 2.4 is generally safer.

160GB ATV Warning: Audio must be reset

This is a rather new Apple TV, about 3 weeks. I've had to factory reset it, and reset it several times now. The latest problem that just started is when I play a video, Either a purchased TV show, or video podcast, any video. I get a warning to turn down the volume because the Apple TV must reset it. And an OK button. I can't click that button via my iPhone Remote, have to use the IR remote.
So I click OK, and the video plays. If I play a second video, same thing. If I play a music playlist no such error.
This is the latest version 3 of the software, new ATV, Wireless N,
I've run diagnostics, and found no problem.
Before last reset I had a different problem. It would go to the home screen, but never load anytying further with any remote, finally ask me to set it up again. I think I set it up 4 times, then did a factory reset/restore.
Before that it would just pause a few seconds every hour or so of play, then continue on like there was no problem. Almost like a slow DVD player switching directions.
Should I take it into the apple store? Really hate going in there if I can avoid it.

I don't have any issues with my tv's and rarely get any error messages temporary or otherwise, however I do spend a lot of time in this forum and have never seen this error message reported before.
I'm tempted to rule out that it's a defective unit, error messages are created as text strings at the programming stage, they need typing in by engineers, they aren't simply generated by the device. For such an error message to exist, it must have been determined that there was a need for it.
How is the tv connected to your receiver, is it by optical, HDMI, or component audio. Depending on your answers, is it possible to send the audio straight to the tv for diagnostics to determine whether it might be an issue with your receiver only or the tv in general.
I'm assuming you have not installed any unauthorised modifications on the tv.

Deploying Air Application with Zend AMF Dataservices to remote server?

I cannot find anything to guide me through getting this set up.. it's frustrating because I feel this is probably the whole point of Air!
I have an Air project in Flash Builder which is set up with the Data/Services panel, using a custom php model file.
It's working fine on localhost, but I do not know what is necessary to have it work while the app is running locally but connecting to a remote server (can get it working as a flex app in browser hosted remotely, though)
I uploaded the Zend framework and my custom php files to the net
I changed the amf_config.ini file .. the webroot and the zend_path, I assume, should be different depending whether it's localhost or on a server, so I changed the one online to be match where the files are.
I found in the _super_Database.as it was referencing the Zend gateway.php locally, so I changed that to be an absolute link to where I put gateway.php on the server.
But I'm not sure what to do next... I assume I only need the Zend framework and the php files I'm using online, but then there is no link to my Database.php anywhere other than as a symbolic link from services/Database.php to the bin-debug folder.. but I don't know how exactly to put that on the server and then compile my app... and I can't find any explanations anywhere.
Anyone know how to go about this?

Exact the same problem here. I've build an Air app with PHP in the backend. On my localhost it works fine... but, when i am tranfer it to the remote server it just won't work.
I have changed settings in amf_config.ini and in gateway.php, and I have changed the settings in super class of my flash file, so it knows where to find the new gateway.php.
Can someone please help a hand... (mmm it is almost Christmas .... )

How do I Remotely Access Final Cut Server?

I set up Final Cut Server on a Mac mini at work and uploaded some Final Cut Pro projects into it. Now I want to be able to log into the server from home "check out" the .fcp file, work on it and then check it back in again.
I really don't know how to go about doing that though. What address should I be using to do this? Do I need to install anything on my remote computer first before trying to connect.
Also, when I check out the .fcp file remotely will it also download all the proxy files, as well. This is my first time setting FCS up so I'm pretty clueless about this.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

We're doing the same thing at my company and it's working really well. We're a small post production house and our editors like the flexibility of logging on to the server from their homes and checking out the projects and the media, without needing to come into the office. Great for companies that want to engage in green practices, or cut down on commute times, if you need any good points to bring to your staff. Here's how we do it:
1.) Enable VPN access for our editors.
2.) Create compressor settings for our edit proxies that are h264 and small enough to travel over the web, or smaller internet connections.
3.) Editor logs in over VPN and downloads the FCS Java Client.
4.) Editor checks out project and allows the edit proxies to cache overnight.
5.) We use a lot of Apple's out the box Review and Approval options, and with a little configuration, they work great.
6.) When the editor is done with the project, they check in the lower rez versions and it "auto-magically" connects to the uprez media.
We color correct in-house, and it's just nice to have the added flexibility to send the time intensive offline out of house.

Can Remote Desktop install Final Cut Studio?

I'm planning a large rollout of Final Cut Studio 3 to a network of 36 MacPro's. I use Apple Remote Desktop to install as much as possible, but I've never been able to install Final Cut using ARD due to it being a multi-disc installer and requiring the serial number during the install. The best I've been able to do is push installer disk images out to the computers, then run the installer manually on each via screen sharing. Not horrible, but a lot more time consuming than it should be.
I don't see anything in the Final Cut Studio installer on using ARD, but I thought I'd check here.

Thanks. My method thus far is similar. I image each disc to a folder, then put the discs away (pretty much standard procedure for any install really). Remote Desktop lets you push the image files out to all computers simultaneously - freakishly fast using multicast networking. The image files are then local to each machine. I'll then sit at the admin station, and using Remote Desktop's screen sharing jump between each computer starting the installer and pasting the serial number. When done, I trash the installer image files from the local computers.
I've played with imaging full systems, but I always think of "one last thing" that needs to be done to configure then I'm back imaging again.
Most applications that use the pkg/mpkg installer format install great over Remote Desktop. Even some that have serial number entry during install have workarounds (Filemaker lets you create a plist containing the serial for example). Even Adobe has come around with CS4, not using the standard format but packaging their multi-disc installer with configuration info for simple network installs.

Run Final Cut Express through Apple Remote

I am trying to capture a lot of video clips and to do that I have set up a couple of Mac Minis with tape decks connected and want to run them from one work station through Remote Desktop. Trouble is the Mini won't run Final Cut Express unless a monitor is attached. It does not recognize the video card being installed without the monitor. Is there a solution I am not seeing? Any ideas would be welcome.

We shoot hours of video everyday on mini dv camcorders. The tapes are then captured via Final Cut Express to a G5 Mac Pro connected to a dv deck with firewire. Clips are then mpeged and stored on a server for everyone to use in their research in the office. The tapes are about an hour each and I want to capture more than one at a time without setting up a bunch of workstations for one person to man. I want to have three or four decks connected to three or four computers all running Express and I want to operate those computers through Remote Desktop without monitors on those computers. This all works, I have set it up and done it with a couple of G5 Mac Pros but when I bought a Mini to save space and cost the Mini will not open Express without a monitor connected to it. Is there an easier way to capture video than I am thinking. I welcome any advice.

Remote operation of Final Cut Studio?

Okay, deep breath...
I have been charged with finding a way to log into a MacPro running Final Cut Studio and edit HD video from a remote location. The remote Mac would likely be of a lower spec and wouldn't need to have the video on it (make sense?).
What do I need to consider?
Is this something that could be done with Remote Desktop?
Would I need, say, a dedicated line to shuttle HD video about or would the MacPro be doing all the grunt work while I manipulate from a distance?

Apologies if I wasn't very clear before. I shall try to explain/expand.
I'm coming in at the ground level of a new media company. The chap in charge wants to know if it would be possible for the editors to log into the FCP machines that will be located in the office from their home Macs and edit remotely.
I was under the impression that, via Remote Desktop (or similar), all that would happen is that the home machines would simply act as a display, keyboard & mouse for the office mahcines. Effectively the computer equivalent of the guy working with the nuclear rod; he looks through the glass with his arms in a pair of attached gloves.
At no point does the video content need to travel to the home machine.
Does that make any more sense?
Apologies if I'm babbling; I was thrown in the deep end with this a couple of hours ago.

P265 Remote won't control volume on Pioneer TV AFTER I press the final OK to lock in programming

I have a variation on the common problem with getting the P265 to control the volume on my pioneer TV.
I go through the setup instructions:
- Press OK and 0 for 5 seconds
- enter 290
- Press channel up until it turns off my TV
- Test Volume +-, mute, input, EVERYTHING WORKS FINE
- Press OK to set the programming - red light blinks and goes out just like it is supposed to
BUT, once I push that final OK, the remote no longer controls the Volume. IT still works for on/off, mute, input, but NOT for volume. Somehowe volume was working before I pushed the final OK to finish the programming, but once I push OK the remote forgets how to control the volume (but still works of on/off, mute, etc).
Any ideas?

If your remote control is programmed for your TV, but the <VOL>, <Mute>, or the <A/V> keys do not work correctly, then you can try using the Key Fix feature to fix the buttons.
1. Press and hold the OK and * buttons simultaneously. • The Red LED will blink twice and then stay on.
2. Press and hold the key that does not work correctly. The remote control will try a new code every second.
3. Once the TV responds correctly, release the button.
4. Press OK to save the current settings and finish programming your remote control.

No remote control on Deck Link HD Extreme and Final Cut Estudio 2

Hi all. I have a little problem width my video card, when i update my final cut studio 2, Final Cut can't control the deck. I try with another port, KeySpan UXA 28 and he work properly. The port RS 422 deck control by Deck link appear in the list of port in Device control tab, but "no communication" message appear. I have proven with the application "Blackmagic Deck Control" and work play and stop but it does not appear the Time Code.
Any suggestion.

Yes, I am using the 9-pin deck control connector, and i have updated the Deck Link software to 6.2 the last version.

New DC for Remote Office also has Large DFSR Share - Promote to DC before or after its in its Final Location?

I'm Adding a 2nd 2012R2 DC to a remote location and it is going to have a large DFSR share on it. I wanted to start the DFSR replication and get everything replicated on the new server while it is still in the HQ Office and Connected via Gigabit network.
The Server will also be a Replacement DC for the remote location. If I make the Server a DC in the HQ Subnet, then Change its IP Address once Its Onsite I should be okay as long as I make sure that I move the server into the Correct Site and make
sure DNS has the new IP Address. Any other Gotcha's ?

In addition, once you've moved the DC and changed the IPs, run:
ipconfig /registerdns
net stop netlogon
net start netlogon
Then go through EACH and every zone in DNS, including the NS records, A records, GcIpAddress (the GC records under gc._msdcs.domain.local), the LdapIpAddres (the 'same as parent' name under domain.local), and dig down into the SRV records to make sure
everything is correct.

If FCP recognized this device at all, it would definitely not support all of the features that the unit offers. In order to work with FCP an audio control surface needs to support either the Mackie Control protocol or Logic Control protocol. And even then the only controls you actually can utilize are the faders for levels, mute and solo buttons, pans, and transport controls. If your device can display timecode, that will show up as well.
Now if you use Pro Tools or Logic or some other DAW this would be a great control surface and it would be a bonus if it worked with FCP. However, for just using with FCP it would be overkill and most features would remain inactive.
If you are looking for a cheap control surface consider the Behringer BCF2000. For about $200 it gives you nearly everything that a Mackie MCU gives you.

Remote desktop final cut

Hi, appreciate any help on this one. It's pretty niche.
Have a client who wants me to cut on FCP 7 (no prob) and watch playback 20 miles away on her laptop. I know it's possible, but don't do a lot of sharing or remote desktop.
