Zip -E for Solaris 10?

Hi, everyone
I have a need for what I think is an older version of info-zip that used to have the -E (capital E) option that would encrypt the file but it could be scripted unlike the current zip -e which will prompt you to enter a password twice and cannot be easily scripted. I need the -E version so code changes don't need to be made in production.
I can't seem to find this version of zip (source or binary) anywhere. Does anyone have any idea what happened to this option or where I might find the old source that contained this option?
TIA

Hi.
Zip for Solaris 8 don't know -E.

-R   recurse into directories     -j   junk (don't record) directory names
-0   store only                   -l   convert LF to CR LF (-ll CR LF to LF)
-1   compress faster              -9   compress better
-q   quiet operation              -v   verbose operation/print version info
-c   add one-line comments        -z   add zipfile comment
-@   read names from stdin        -o   make zipfile as old as latest entry
-x   exclude the following names  -i   include only the following names
-F   fix zipfile (-FF try harder) -D   do not add directory entries
-A   adjust self-extracting exe   -J   junk zipfile prefix (unzipsfx)
-T   test zipfile integrity       -X   eXclude eXtra file attributes

  • Need Agent Installer for Solaris (SPARC)

    Hi All,
I have downloaded Grid Control Agent Installer for Solaris from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/agentsoft.html.
When I tried to extract the zip file, I am getting the following error message.
"Can not open file. It does not appear to be a valid archive. If you downloaded this file, try downloading the file again."
Even I tried using http://sac.us.oracle.com/download/index.html also but getting the same error.
Please send me the location if you have,
    Thanks
    Sumathi

Most commands are identical. Performance analysis, loading all are similar. Tape interaction, creation of tape devices is going to be pretty much the same.
The differences show up a lot at the hardware level. HBAs aren't usually the same, many drivers (and their quirks) are different between the architectures. If you're debugging connectivity to a tape library, those differences may be critical.
So you can't get as close as you may want, but I'll bet it would still be helpful.

  • Unable to create partition for solaris 10

I have windows 7 installed in my vaio, and want to install solaris 10. I have 190 gb of space. Which I divided as
    1. 40 gb for windows
    2. 65 gb
    3. 65 gb
    4. 20 gb unallocated
I want to install Solaris in unallocated space. when I try to install solaris 10. It shows only two partition 40 gb and 150 gb. I am new to Solaris.. please help.

hello, you don't have to use hme0, that may not be your NIC type. your NIC appears to be realtek adapter. download the drivers first [try here: http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/rf-1.0.9.tar.gz] install them, then your NIC will have a name like rt0. you can then proceed to set its interface.i hope ifconfig -a, blah, blah is ok with u. If the adapter is ok then you can now do the zones - they are just automatic no strugling!
you can also find the drivers from realtek website at -- ftp://152.104.238.194/cn/nic/rtl8139abcd8130810xseries/rtls211.zip
here are sample instructions on how to install the driver
    How to install Solaris/x86 version
    1. This is the version 2.1.1 RTL8139 serials driver for Solaris/x86
    version.
    2. It support Speed/Duplex-Force mode, you can set it through rtls.conf file.
    3. It supports 3 PCI-VID_DID cards, VID_10EC_DID_8139 for Realtek's
native, VID_1113_DID_1211 for Accton and VID_1186_DID_1301 for
    D-Link in the install script.
    4. Install method:
    a. Power-off your PC and insert your RTL8139 adapter.
    b. Boot-up you Solaris/x86 and login as "root".
    c. Copy the "rtls211.zip" into the temporary location in your
    hard-driver.
    d. UNZIP the "rtls211.zip" and you will get 3 files, "rtls", "rtls.conf" and
    "Install".
    e. If the PCI ID for your RTL8139 adapter is not VID_10EC_DID_8139
or VID_1113_DID_1211 or VID_1186_DID_1301, you can modify the
"Install" file to match your PCI ID, VID_ABCD_DID_WXYZ for example,
    modify the "pci1186,1301" to "pciABCD,WXYZ".
    f. Run the "Install" from File Manager to install the driver, and
it will modify 2 files, "/etc/name_to_major" and "/etc/driver_aliases"
    g. You need to create the "/etc/hostname.rtls0" file and modify some
other related files to make your networking environments working well.
    h. You can execute "touch /reconfigure" then "shutdown -i5 -g0", so that
Solaris will reboot and scan changed hardware environment.
    i. You can execute "ifconfig -a" to make sure the RTL8139 driver is up.
    success. bye

what could be the problem? The installer is actually a self-extracting Zip-archive. It tries to unpack
itself into /var/tmp/something-random, before starting the actual
    installation.
If you do not have enough free space in /var/tmp, try creating a temporary
directory somewhere else, move the installer into the new directory, and do
an 'unzip server70..............bin'. Once you have unzipped the installer,
I think you can look in a file called AUTORUN or something for the java
command to run the installer manually.

  • OEM 12c for solaris (sparc) disk2 download failed

I am trying to download OEM 12c for solaris (sparc) from below link but disk 2 download failed after 80% with a error saying connection to server closed. I tried it couple of times with different browsers even from different machine but still same error. Disk 1 downloaded successfully but disk2 always failed right at 80% after 2.4 GB downloaded. It makes me belive that it is a problem related to source file or server. Anyone has similar experience and know how to get it solved?
    Appriciate for your help.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/solsoft-094433.html

I can't download it either, and nor can any of my colleagues, using any browser. I am in UK, I suspect there's an issue with the Oracle mirrors, and that if you are downloading from US it probably works fine. Can someone from Oracle investigate this please?
We consistently get the same result: the downloaded file is: 2,732,571,489 bytes, rather than 3,430,333,041 bytes. It will not unzip as it is not a valid archive, error message:
    bash-3.2# unzip em12_solaris_sparc64_disk2of2.zip
    Archive: em12_solaris_sparc64_disk2of2.zip
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of em12_solaris_sparc64_disk2of2.zip or
em12_solaris_sparc64_disk2of2.zip.zip, and cannot find em12_solaris_sparc64_disk2of2.zip.ZIP, period.
However, this error message is caused by an invalid / incomplete zip file.
I have also tried Oracle Edelivery site with same result.
    TIA!

  • Smpatch and Recommended Patches for Solaris 10

    Hi,
Is there any way to make smpatch only retrieve recommended patches for Solaris 10 ?
I've seen several forum posts saying to use
    smpatch set patchpro.patchset=recommended
but other posters indicate that this only works for Solaris 9 (additionally, it doesn't seem to work at all currently:
Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve recommended.zip: Not Found )
As far as I'm aware, Sun's patching policy is to apply the Recommended patches, as well as any that address specific issues you are having. This seems to contrast with the behaviour of smpatch which grabs all patches..

    Hi.
Depending on your hardware, you can use the following in place of 'current' in patchpro.patchset to get recommended patches:
    sunu45 = Sun Ultra45/Ultra25 Recommended
sftxk = Sun Fire T1000/T2000 Recommended
    sfv2x5 = Sun Fire V215/245 Recommended
    sfv445 = Sun Fire V445 Recommended

  • Creating Disk Image for Solaris 8 Admin Pack

    Hi,
When I download the zip files "Software CD Image" for Solaris 8 Admin Pack / Solstice AdminSuite 3.0 and "Documentation CD Image", I get a zip file containing the contents of an installation disk (ie files and directories) rather than ISO files for creating a disk.
lf I then burn these to a CD (in either UDF or 9660 format) and try to install, it fails for various reasons, not least of which is the fact that the top level installation file does not have X permission. I know that I could copy these files to the Sun, change permission and run from there, but for various reasons I also need to be able to install from CD.
Does anyone know either how to create a CD with the correct format / file permissions / etc, or alternatively where the correct ISO's can be retrieved?
    Thanks in advance.

Partition before installing, then try it. Alternatively, use something like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! to put a bootable backup/clone onto the partition. That gives you something that you can immediately verify. A disk image requires restoring before you can be assured that it's viable. I've beta-tested Panther through Snow Leopard and have never made a disk image, only clones. Finally, creating the disk image takes much more time to create than does the clone. Just my 2¢. BTW, the image is useless unless you can successfully restore it. I have no idea why it's not working for you.

  • Installation problem: Java Chartbuilder for Solaris

    Hi all,
I have downloaded Oracle Java Chart Builder for Solaris. It's a jar file in 3.8 M size. According to the documentation, I think I suppose to extract it, so I use this command to extract it:
    $jar xvf chartbuilder_kit.jar
This will just give me a META-INF folder which contains a MANIFEST.MF file. Other than that I get nothing much. I have tried the NT version of it( a zip file) and after I unzip it I suppose get a set of folder which included a lib, doc, demos, bin and Meta-inf.
Please advise, is it because of I use a wrong way in extracting the jar file????????
    Thanks for reading.....

I'm having the same problem installing on W2K, what I discovered is that it's unable to start listener, I hat to start it manually but it still won't end tihs task.
I also have a 9i Client / Manager software installed in a 9i Home which disapeared from home selector.
If I try to deinstall OEM10G it'll just get to a 2% advance and stop...
    ...is this a BETA?

  • Zip 250 and Solaris 9

    Hello,
I recently upgraded my x86 box to Solaris 9. I used to be able to use ZIP 250 disks and have the system automatically mount a ZIP disk under Solaris 8 x86. Now, I can't get it to mount. If I run the configuration disk, my zip drive comes up a possible boot device (along with my IDE drive and IDE cd player). Why doesn't my solaris 9 see the zip drive once the system is booted up???

I'm not 100% sure, but it seems the Solaris 8 -> Solaris 9 upgrade does not
add the following service to /etc/inetd.conf (or it adds it commented out)
    # smserverd to support removable media devices
    100155/1 tli rpc/ticotsord wait root /usr/lib/smedia/rpc.smserverd rpc.smserverd
This problem does not happen with a "fresh" Solaris 9 installation from scratch.
The new "rpc.smserverd" daemon is needed for vold.

  • Wrong chksum failure unzipping file for Solaris x86_64

    Hi together,
trying to install latest DB (10.2.0.1.0) for Solaris x86_64 fails in the first step unzipping the file. The size of the file is the same but chksum is different.
I download the file multiple times on a windows pc and copy it by an external hardisk (fat32) to the Sun machine, but I don't believe that can be the failure.
Maybe the file isn't a real zip file?
Know anyone how I can solve this problem?

report it on the OTN issues forum, they're quite good about that stuff.
