Zip file upload to content area

Has anyone tried zipping up a huge folder on the filesystem, say around a 100 files and uploaded the zip to a content ara folder? I could successfully upload the zip file but and then used the unzip link next to the uploaded content. It unzips as well, but when I click on the folder to view the unzipped files, before it could show me the 100 odd files, the server times out. I believe it is due to the number of files in a single folder. If I do the same thing with a hierarchy of folders and sub-folders containing only 10s' of files it works and displays the page to me with all links working.
I hope you must have tried this, and pls. help me and provide me an alternative.

  • How to zip files in a content area

    Hi!!
    We have a lot of documents in a content area, and every day the number of documents is going up. The question is, if we can zip these documents or something similar.

    If you're asking about compressing the files in the repository, or adding a bunch of items to a zip file, neither of these features are currently available.
    You would have to download the files, add them to a zip on the desktop, and then upload the new zip file.

  • Automatic upload of content area items from the O/S

    I wish to automate the upload of content area items into the portal. Can this be done via the PDK or otherwise?
    I have a number of PDF and HTML reports that get generated and placed into a physical directory on the server. I want all these files from a specific directory to be uploaded as items into the portal automatically so that users can view the reports with appropriate security. The reports can be modified so that when run they insert a record into a custom table to store their path and file names. This can be used by a custom procedure to point to the files at the point of upload.
    However, can this upload actually be done?
    Any ideas on how to do this would be useful.
    Regards,
    John

    Physical path on the database server.
    Using the api to upload is easy as long as you provide the content-area id, folder-id, display-name, item-type (PORTAL30.WWSBR_API.ITEM_TYPE_FILE), content-area type id (PORTAL30.WWSBR_API.SHARED_OBJECTS), folder-region-id (whatever it is for Regular Items, you'll find it in wwsbr_all_folder_regions) and the physical file-name.

  • File handling in Content areas

    Where is it determined what happens when you select a file in a content area folder? If I want to only be able to download the file and not try to read it, is there a setting that may be changed to allow this?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Chris,
    We just do whatever the browser is configured to do with the file type. There are no special settings available in Portal.

  • Problem upload too large file in a Content Area ORA-1401

    Hi All
    I have a customer who is trying to upload a file with a too large name in a content area.
    If the filename is 80 characters, it works fine.
    But if the filename is upper or 80 characters the following error ocurred:
    ORA-01401: inserted value too large for column
    DAD name: portal30
    PROCEDURE : PORTAL30.wwv_add_wizard.edititem
    URL : http://sbastida-us:80/pls/portal30/PORTAL30.wwv_add_wizard.edititem
    I checked the table: WWV_DOCUMENT and it have a column name: FILENAME is defined like VARCHAR2(350).
    If i run a query on this table, the filename column stores the filename of the file uploaded.
    Is this a new bug? may i fill this bug?
    Do you have any idea about this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Catalina

    Catalina,
    The following restrictions apply to the names of documents that you are uploading into the repository:
    Filenames must be 80 characters or less.
    Filenames must not include any of these characters: \ / : * ? < > | " % # +
    Filenames can include spaces and any of these characters: ! @ ~ & . $ ^ ( ) - _ ` ' [ ] { } ; =

  • Limited File size uploaded to Content Area

    Is it possible to limit the file uploaded as an item in the content area/folder ?

    Its a benign error. It has to do with flexible parameter passing. You can ignore it.
    Recently I have been receiving the following error in my apache error log file...It tells me to refer to the doc for ways around this issue...I am unable to locate any doc on this issue. I have looked in the iAS plsql doc as well. Now this comes and goes as well. For the most part clients can upload files successfully, but once and a while this error occurs. Hi,
    I am using ZIP API in Web Dynpro JAVA for multiple file download scenario.
    Issue:--->

  • Docx file upload to content repository on MS Sharepoint

    I have installed Primavera P6 EPPM version 8.2 in use with content repository on MS Sharepoint 2010 SP1.
    When I an trying to upload files with extensions "docx", "xlsx" ... system message "uknown error, please contact
    your System Administrator" pop ups.
    Plus to it, all uploaded documents dissapears from list in "Projects" menu "Documents" . In "Dashbords" portlet
    I can see all earlier uploaded documents.
    May be somebody had similar problems and found solution for it? Advice would be very valuable.
    Juozas

    I'm not sure about that code for the file upload part. You should really go find the File upload stuff from Jakarta Commons or UploadBean from whoever wrote it. That will handle the file upload. The database part, there are tutorials in Java's site ... try searching for "store image database"

  • Creating a zip file from the contents of a directory

    hi, I am having a problem as the title suggests with a zip fil creation...
    using the basic example zip.java i wished to edit it so it doesnt zip a file fro the current directory but rather a directory i inputted.
    It is able to read the first file then throws out the following error with the code below it:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: test.jpg (The system cannot find the file specified)
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.zip.*;
    public class Zip {
       static final int BUFFER = 2048;
       public static void main (String argv[]) {
          try
             BufferedInputStream origin = null;
             FileOutputStream dest = new FileOutputStream("C:/Documents and Settings/Phil/My Documents/My Pictures/Work/test.zip");
             CheckedOutputStream checksum = new CheckedOutputStream(dest, new Adler32());
             ZipOutputStream out = new
               ZipOutputStream(new BufferedOutputStream(checksum));
             //out.setMethod(ZipOutputStream.DEFLATED);
             byte data[] = new byte[BUFFER];
             // get a list of files from current directory
             File f = new File("C:/Documents and Settings/Phil/My Documents/My Pictures/Work/");
             f.listFiles();
             String files[] = f.list();
             for (int i=0; i<files.length; i++)
                System.out.println("Adding: "+files);
    FileInputStream fi = new FileInputStream(files[i]);
    origin = new BufferedInputStream(fi, BUFFER);
    ZipEntry entry = new ZipEntry(files[i]);
    out.putNextEntry(entry);
    int count;
    while((count = origin.read(data, 0,
    BUFFER)) != -1)
    out.write(data, 0, count);
    origin.close();
    out.close();
    catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    After investigation i am lead to believe this is because the method returns an array of file and directory names only but not their path and the unqualified names would have therefore be defaulted to the current working directory. Something i understand if this is the case.
    So instead i used the File.listFiles() method to return an array
    of File objects, instead of an array of Strings as shown in the snippet of the changed code below (the changed code highlighted)...but arrived at another error on the second section of highlighted code meaning i cant compile. I cant understand why this is so!
    The error is: "cannot find symbol, Symbol: Contructor ZipEntry (Java.IO.file), location: class.java.util.zip.ZipEntry"
    File f = new File("C:/Documents and Settings/Phil/My Documents/My Pictures/Work/");
             **************File g[] = f.listFiles();***************
             **************String files[] = f.list();**************
             for (int i=0; i<g.length; i++)
                System.out.println("Adding: "+g);
    FileInputStream fi = new FileInputStream(g[i]);
    origin = new BufferedInputStream(fi, BUFFER);
    **************ZipEntry entry = new ZipEntry(g[i]);************
    out.putNextEntry(entry);
    int count;
    while((count = origin.read(data, 0,
    BUFFER)) != -1)
    out.write(data, 0, count);
    origin.close();
    out.close();
    Any help and thoughts most appreciated. Thank u in advance

    I'll admit i took 1 look at that reply an thought "thats stupid that wont work"...
    then a second look an though "actually, i should work i cant believe i didnt think of that"
    Anyways i tried it and it did work
    How are the duke dollars awarded, cos u should have them ordinary_guy
    cheers!

  • Messages with zip files or multiple attachments are not being delivered

    Has anyone else come across this? I've discovered that files sent from my .mac account are not being delivered if they contain zip files or multiple attachment. A single .docx file goes through, but multiple doc files or a single zip file do not.
    I get no error message, and neither does the recipient. The message sends on my end but simply doesn't show up on their end.
    Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

    Another follow-up: Now, for whatever reason, even attachments of a single document aren't going through.
    Again, I'm receiving no error message, and it shows up in my sent folder. It just never makes it to the recipient.
    This is very frustrating, and makes my iCloud mail account all but useless. Does anyone have any idea at all what might be happening?

  • File Upload Action Button are not working

    Hi  ,
    In the File Upload Process when the processor are open change request there are Action Buttons  Approve/Reject ,
    When the CR Processor are Click on either Approve or Reject  these two Action Button are not working (means its not show any activity) , while rest of all action button like save,close check , Run validation  are working ...
    While Processor has authorization to Approve/Reject that CR ...

    Hello Nikhilesh
    These buttons are dependent upon the workflow steps. Check that. Check the linkage for workflow. Check SWI6 - CR number and the step. Based on the step you can identify whether the proper step is assigned or not.

  • Zip file uploaded by CF can't be unzipped by CF or Java

    I'm having a WTF moment right now trying to track down this
    problem. I am creating a monitoring tool for our merge email
    system. What I would like to do is submit a job zip file through
    our upload form, in which case I just need to upload a zip file
    with cfhttp to the action page.
    What I'm running into is a problem unzipping the file when it
    is on the server. However if I go to the server the received file
    opens fine with WinRAR or Windows Explorer. If I manually go to our
    form and upload the exact same file it works fine. Really odd. I
    can only find very basic information about uploading files with
    cfhttp and tried all of the attributes that seemed logical.
    Attached is very basic example of the problem. It may end up
    being a bug in CF or something.
    The code does the following
    1. creates a text file
    2. creates a zip file with the text file
    3. tries to unzip the file to make sure it is fine
    4. uploads the file (processed by a <cfelse> block at
    the bottom)
    5. tries to unzip the file uploaded
    The error occurs in step 5. CF just can't unzip the uploaded
    file, but I can unzip it using other tools.
    ================

    danielmroberts,
    I tested it and received the same error. Using
    GetHttpRequestData() I did notice the size of the received file is
    usually 2b bigger than original. Though I do not know if that
    matters at all.
    The strange thing is if you add another parameter after the
    zip file (an empty text file or a form field), it suddenly works.
    <cfhttp url="
    http://#cgi.http_host##cgi.script_name#?upload"
    method="post" result="jobSubmitResult">
    <cfhttpparam name="zipfile" type="file"
    file="#path#temp.zip" />
    <cfhttpparam name="placeholder" type="FormField"
    value="Empty Field">

  • Internal File Names within Content Areas

    I have a problem where I have loaded up a series of inter-linked HTML files created in an HTML editor (e.g. Dreamweaver). They all exist within a folder and all the links work. As soon as I amend a file and reload it, it gets a new name on the database (for example index_0.htm and then index_1.htm). Therefore because the name has changed the links no longer work. I have item versioning switched off in the content area and the folders where the items reside.
    Is there any way around this problem?
    null

    This behavior has been fixed for Portal 3.0.8, which is going to be part of 9iAS release 1.0.2.1, due out later this month.
    In the meantime, perhaps you could have dreamweaver update the links for your files as part of a dreamweaver "site" definition. If you update the name for one file say from ("myfile" to "myfile_1", all the other links would then be automatically updated by dreamweaver to reflect that). What version of Portal are you currently using? 3.0.6 or 3.0.7?
