Access 2010 SP1 - random crashes relating to vbe7.dll

We are experencing the same problem as described here in a post on
Microsoft Answers.  However was are also still occasionally seeing the problem after uninstalling SP1.
Has anyone come across any better workarounds?
Microsoft: can we please have some information on when this is likey to be fixed - this is a major problem!
After installing Office 2010 SP1, you may receive random crashes when opening objects in certain databases and when trying to open the VBA window in those databases.  If you look in the event viewer the crash info may look similar to the following:
Faulting application: msaccess.exe
Version: 14.0.6024.1000
Stamp: 4d83e4fc
faulting module: vbe7.dll
version: 7.0.16.19
stamp: 4d430aec
Workaround:
Microsoft is aware of the issue and it is currently being investigated.  In order to work around the problem, you can try the following:
1.      Make a copy / backup of your database.
2.      On the problematic machine decompile the database by running the following from a Run command line: MSACCESS.EXE <path to database file> /decompile
(example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\MSAccess.exe "C:\folder\database.accdb"  /decompile)
3.      Close the database.
4.      Open the database again normally.
In addition to this, if you experience the crash please send the error report when prompted to do so after the crash.

Hello,
Have you tried the workaround? It should work after you decompile your databases.
And if there is better solution released by Microsoft, you will be able to find them in certain KB like:

  • Crash related to rtsshooks64.dll

    Hi,
I appreciate that this is a fairly generic request and I can't provide much detail but I'm happy to try to respond and investigate further if needed.
Situation, I'm using MSA Afterburner 4.1 to slightly OC my MSI GTX980.
I'm playing X-Rebirth currently and experienced a lot of random crashes during gameplay.
I was working with the Egosoft support through the crash dumps and their developers pointed out that many crashes are related to rtsshooks64.dll. I assume thats a library used for the statistic server part of Afterburner, correct?
Is there a way I can eliminate those crashes without loosing the OC via Afterburner?
    Thanks very much,
    End.
OS: Win 8.1 64bit, latest Nvidia driver

The crash is unrelated to the clock settings. The game crashes (because of mentioned dll) also with stock settings.

  • Project 2010 SP1 Installation Crashes

I'm trying to create a package that will handle both brand new installations for Project 2010 as well as upgrade installations for those running Project 2007, the latter of which represents a large population in our environment.
I basically followed the same process I used when creating packages for Office 2007, Office 2010, Project 2007 and Visio 2007, all of which work today:
    run setup.exe /admin
    create a new .msp
    make my adjustments (very few)
    save into Updates directory
customized PrjPro.WW\config.xml (after first creating a backup!)
    run setup.exe
I'm testing the package on a machine that previously had Project 2007, but after running for a short time, setup crashes.  I thought maybe the problem was with the config.xml so I undid the changes one at a time, then moved up to restoring the orignal
config.xml file but it continues to crash.
There's a setup log in %temp% that contains what may be the core issue

Office Source Engine (OSE) service startup type is set to 'Manual'
    copied ose.exe again from DVD

I'm beginning to wonder if there's an issue with the existing Project 2007 installation, or the way it was uninstalled [by the Project 2010 setup] - but maybe its something altogether different.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

My point above is that Project 2007 was extremely buggy and unless files are saved using Project 2007 SP3 first you are likely to experience problems with the files when opening in project 2010. Project 2007 to 2010 with no service packs is problematic.
With SPs applied you should have far fewer problems.
Doesn't look like a exe with SP2 is available yet so you need to add the service pack separately, probably in the updates folder.
If all Project 2007 installs are already at SP3 then no need for this.

  • 27" 2010 iMac randomly crashing on admin user account

This one is a bit of a doozy...
We've had this iMac for a little over a year now and it has been working fine until very recently.  After installing the newest version of iMovie on it through the App Store, a very strange thing has been happening.  While an application is open (it started with just iMovie but it's constant now with any application) the computer will sort of crash to an extent.  The computer still runs and if something is say downloading, it will continue downloading, but I lose control of pretty much everything.  The bar at the top of the screen stays on the application no matter where I click (i.e. if it crashes while I'm in iMovie and I click on a finder window, the control panel at the top still reads iMovie).  After that I can't switch applications, the window of the one I'm in becomes unusable, and I have to force a restart.
I took this to Apple and they had me reinstall iMovie, and I just reinstalled all of Snow Leopard.  Both were unsuccessful.  Then I decided to create a second User Account, as a non-admin.  It works completely fine, not a glitch in the system.  Then I go back to the original/admin and the problem returns immediately.
    Can I get some help?

Not sure but it may possibly be a problem with Disk Permissions that sometimes go awry. You can View Disk Permissions using Disk Utility.  I think to Repair Disk Permissions you need to boot from the Install DVD (boot while holding down the ‘C’ key immediately).  Don’t reinstall the operating system but just get to the Install panel that shows you all the menus at the top and select Disk Utility from the Tools menu.  Click on First Aid and then View Disk Permissions.  You may need to run Repair Disk Permissions two or three times and there will still be messages that look like errors but those can likely be ignored; you’ll see what it repaired.
    Hope that helps.

  • Access 2010 - Wizards not working after installing SP1

    Hi Folks,
After upgrading my Office 2010 64 bit to SP1, I've started Access and now I receive a series of errors related to the Wizards, making the software useless.
Here is what's happening (testing done in new files \ new db's):
Case 1 - Trying to insert a button in a form, while the "Use control wizards" option is activated
ERROR1: The database cannot be opened because the VBA project contained in it cannot be read. The database can be opened only if the VBA project is first deleted. Deleting the VBA project removes all code from modules, forms and reports. You should back
up your database before attempting to open the database and delete the VBA project. To create a backup copy, click Cancel and then make a backup copy of your database. To open the database and delete the VBA project without creating a backup copy, click OK
if I click ok I get
ERROR 2: The code contains a syntax error, or a <DB_NAME> function you need is not available. If the syntax is correct, check the Control Wizards subkey or the Libraries key in the <DB_NAME> section of the windows registry to verify that the
entries you need are listed and available. If the entries are correct, either you must correct the <DB_NAME> Utility Add-In, or the file acWzlib or this wizard has been disabled. To reenable this wizard, run <DB_NAME> or Microsoft Office Setup
again to reinstall <DB_NAME>. Before you reinstall <DB_NAME>, delete the windows registry keys for the <DB_NAME> Utility Add-in and acWzlib.
Case 2 - Trying to insert a picture as button background (using the properties tab)
ERROR: "Microsoft Access can't start the wizard, builder or add-in"
    What I did so far:
    a) Checked the Wizard file (seemed ok - read \ edit permitted for all users)
    b) Checked registry wizard entry (again - seems ok - no errors or bogus)
Right now I'm pretty desperate as I can't really use a lot of features. For the moment reinstall is not an option as I'm against a tight deadline. I would really appreciate any help \ support \ advice that can make this thing work.
P.S. - I forgot to mention that Access worked flawlessly before applying this SP1 - I'm really disappointed on how things turned out...
    Cheers,

  • EntityFramework ODAC Beta - VS 2010 Random Crashes

Is anyone else experiencing random crashes of Visual Studio after installing the EF ODAC and creating a project with an edmx data model? Even without being in use (focus in a different app), my Visual Studio 2010 will simply "encounter a problem and must close".
This does not happen if I have any other project open - only one with an edmx using the new provider.

I tried another machine, 64 bit of course, as I want to deploy my application on a 64bit PC, but still got the same problem.
This other machine was from HP, iCore 3 (4 CPUs) 2.2GHz, 4GB RAM and running Windows Professional 64 bit.
Now as I see it, it could be a Run-time environment mis-match error.
For this I tried installing a 64 bit LVRTE from NI, but still no sucess.
I checked DEP, for all 3 PCs and it was set to the following
Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only (first option).
I am confused. I can not find a solution for this and it is really frustrating.

But I am assuming that when I make the installer, the 32-bit Run Time Engine is appened with the installer, as show below
Since from the picture you can see its including the support installers from '\Program Files (x86)\'
The application runs queries to fetch data from database in SQL server 2008, and for that I am using a Microsoft SQL Native Client 2008 R2 64 bit ( this is the only version that installs on either PC, even the one on which I developed my LV Application).
I am not using any driver, only toolkits for reports - and for that I un-checked the "Remove unused polymorphic VI instances" when making the executable, otherwise LV throws up an exception that share variable are not being included.
Yes I did reboot every time after I ran the installation.
    Still getting the same error.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional Random Crash (Access Violation)

hi all. first time poster. long time reader.
i have encountered an odd access violation problem - 'ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000005 - The instruction at "blah" referenced memory at "blah". The memory could not be "blah" - in 'acrobat.dll' recently with a customer who is experiencing seemingly random crashes with adobe acrobat 8 professional.

i have access to numerous crash dumps and nothing seems to really stand out...other than 'Acrobat_3000000!AVAcroALM_Destroy'. For example...

is 'AVAcroALM' to do with licensing?
other than advising them to bring citrix presentation server 4.5 up to date (HRP2) i'm at a loss what to advise. citrix often have issues with seamless published applications when spread across multiple monitors (as in this case), hence, my reason to ask them to bring their software up to date. often the funtion called will be different - often times 'Acrobat.dll!PDDocCreateWordFinderEx', other times 'Acrobat.dll!PDDocAcquirePage' and there are others.
i can post more of the mini-dump if required. any - and ALL - assitance appreciated.
    thanks.

  • 2010 Mackbook Pro Randomly Crashing/Blackscreening

I have a Macbook Pro 15-inch Mid 2010 laptop. For the past year and a half it has been randomly crashing. I have specifically noticed it when running larger programs such as games or adobe programs. Sometimes it could be once a day, sometimes 15 times. I did some research and noticed that there seems to be a problem with this specific computers NVIDIA GPU being defective. I wonder if that's the case or if there are other issues. The problem happened when I ran 10.6.8, and updating it to mavericks a few months ago did not fix it. If anything its gotten worse. If the problem is the GPU, any idea how much that would cost to fix?
Here is my last panic attack.

You have the MacBookPro6,2—the Edsel of Macs. It may have the logic-board defect that was covered by this recall.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider, to have the machine tested. The routine hardware diagnostics used by service providers do not detect the fault. There is a specific test for this issue that Apple calls "VST" (for "Video Switching Test.") Ask for it. A "Failed" result means that the fault is present. However, according to reports, some units may pass the test, and yet still be deemed eligible for repair under the program. Your experience may vary.
Print the first page of the panic report, if any, and the support page linked above, and bring them with you.
Note that the recall only applies within three years of purchase. After that, Apple may refuse the service. In that case, you may be quoted a price of about $300 (in the U.S.) for a "depot repair," which involves shipping the unit to a central repair facility and takes about two weeks. For that flat fee, anything found wrong with it should be fixed, not just the logic board.
The model was discontinued on February 24, 2011, so the recall has nominally ended. Some units may have been sold after that date by Apple as refurbished, or by resellers as new, and they might still be covered.
Some owners report that their unit was repaired under the program after the deadline had passed. Others report that the repair was covered by the extended warranty from a credit-card issuer. Again, your experience may vary.
Sometimes the replacement part is also defective, so be prepared for that possibility. If you decide to pay for a new logic board, test thoroughly during the 90-day warranty period on the repair. Some owners have reported that they went through as many as three replacement boards before getting one that worked.
If it's too late for your unit to be repaired free of charge, and you don't want to pay for the service, you may (or may not) be able to stop the panics by disabling automatic graphics switching. To use the discrete graphics processor, you'll need a third-party utility to switch to it manually.
Often the problems start after an OS upgrade. If the upgrade was recent, and you have backups, then you can revert to a previous OS X version.
If you're dissatisfied with Apple's response, please keep in mind that no one here represents the company or can help with customer-service issues.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Random crash on MBP (Mid 2010) - Mountain Lion

Hi guys, I'm currently using this machine, it was given to me by a colleague that use it for almost two years without any issues.
When I got the machine I just did the following:
    1. Format the hard drive (HDD) and replace it with my working SSD (OCZ Vertex 2 180GB)
    2. Install a brand new Mountain Lion, Office and a few programs (nothing harmless or complex I think, istat for example)
Since my first day with the machine I am experiencing some random crashes, I've readed A LOT about the Video Issue with this particular MacBook Pro but I didn't think I have it cause the machine was working perfectly before I reinstalled the software and the failure behavior is quite different as I have readed so far.
My machine just pop up the gray screen whit this message (http://roberthuttinger.blogsite.org/images/kernel_panic.jpg) that says that something went wrong and ask me to press a key to reboot the machine, when I do it I get an error report that i don't understand.
My CPU temp always is between 45 and 80 and mostly of the time is around 60 C.
I'll appreciate any help or Ideas you may have,
    Cheers,

  • Premiere Pro random crashing since update to 2014.2

Been working on the SAME big project over 18 months, in Pr Pro CC, 2014, working on the SAME PC:
Win 7 SP1 pro 64bit, i7-3770K, 32GB fast memory (25.7 available for Pr), Intel HD 4000 graphics on Asus motherboard with 30" NEC Multisync screen at 2560 x 1600 (same as for years)
42GB free on my SSD drive C: and 54GB free on my SSD drive S: for preview files, 24GB free on my SSD drive T: for caching files.  Project files etc stored on a normal hard drive F: (for Files!) 1.25TB free.
NOW last update to 2014.2 and I get constant RANDOM crashes (Windows encountered a fault and had to close this program) despite updating graphics driver and trying different settings in preferences, use mercury etc.  No particular action causes it  - sometimes I am just watching it play a sequence and it just stops. Though of course it may be rendering the last edit at the time.
Sometimes it runs for all of 15 mins and I think the problem has sorted then it goes again and I have to restart the project, find where I was and re-do my last edits.  If I remember to press Ctrl-S very frequently (every few seconds) it seems to run for a while then I forget for 5 mins and it crashes.
Grrrr what did you do to the latest version, Adobe??  I need to get this project finally finished in a hurry.... I wish I had not updated the program!  Of course I cannot go back as it says the saved copy is now incompatible with earlier Pr Pro versions.
I then tried running a previous version at the same time, as simonray suggested in his post - it worked!  So I am able to continue as normal provided I do this stupid bodge fix.
So it really is down to Adobe as it is the same project, same PC, just different version update.  You did something to a great, stable, program that made it unstable, Adobe...
To ANSWER RAMEEZ from previous thread:
A variety of issues can cause PPRO to crash:
a problem with the Preferences, or some other pref-related file in the Profile-<USERNAME> bin. >>  DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING since 1½ years running previous PrPro versions on SAME PROJECT on SAME PC
the graphics driver  Checked for latest version - didn't stop the crashing
    third-party plug-ins - don't have any
a problem with the cache files. I am using the same 2 x SSD I have been using for years for autosave and caching. 54GB free space / 24GB free space (current cache in place)
a problem with the project file (if you're loading a project...)  Doesn't apply
the Preferences files be set to read-only  How would that happen? Never happened before on any other update and I can change it.
the user not having administrator rights  Only one user on PC since installation, full rights
a conflict/incompatibility with some OS setting  Haven't changed anything
a problem on the licensing/authentication side.  I'm signed up to full Adobe CC. Everything else works, Ps, Lr, Id ...
A log file might help identify the cause of the crash. Please right-click 'My Computer', select "Manage," look under 'Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application' to see if there's an event there from Premiere Pro. If so, copy the contents of that log and paste them here.

Problem Solved! (with a small catch)
While searching crashing issues I came across this thread,"Premiere Pro random crashing since update to 2014.2"
Marc_Lec  Answered (and I paraphrase here)"...I had the same problem and this is what I did. In 'Preferences Memory'  I increased the memory reserved for other application to at least half the installed and changed the optimize render from 'performance' to 'memory."
Thank You Marc_Lec for what has been a game changer for me since my last computer and the beginning of PremiereCC problems.
I changed my Memory reserved for Other Applications from the default 7gigs to 1/2 of my approx.31 available Gigs = 16Gigs. Viola!
    No more crashing what-so-ever!
I still have to purchase an older  GTX 980 graphics card to take advantage of Adobe's approved code to utilize X=Cuda Cores and GPU, but I think I'll hang onto my new TitanX, in hopes that Adobe will write code and approve it someday in the near future.
Now why doesn't Adobe say this officially about Memory Settings? (I don't know maybe they do and I missed I somewhere)
Mine and probably many peoples computers problems here on this board may be attributed to a simple Memory adjustment, because the computer needs more than 7Gigs to run itself, not to mention Premiere.

  • "Document Not Saved" Microsoft Excel 2010 SP1

We have a remote office which has a 2mb WAN link, The users in the remote office have a variety of Office installs from 2003 to 2010 SP1.
When attempting to open an excel file over the WAN link (The file is on our main shared drive in Sydney) they can open and edit the document however when it comes to saving they receive "Document not saved" and the original document is gone and a .tmp file
remains where the original file was on the network drive/shared folder.
If they then hit save a second time it saves correctly and the document is in the correct .xls format.
The excel files do have some funky tables etc in them and are a few mb's in size, however we have the same issue with a new excel document with only one word written in it.
Does anyone know what would be causing this issue?
We have tried added NetworkResiliency and PivotTableNetworkResiliency as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291204.
We have tried removing certain hot fixes from Microsoft as mentioned in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/983458.
We added the share to be a trusted site.
There are no errors in Event Viewer.
I have found another few threads on similar issues with no fix:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/office2010/thread/f559b061-b98f-4b33-ab8a-d1a41d2e8cb8/
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/officeappcompat/thread/4af962a0-d883-4e82-8995-7eb766d6c720
We do have a RiverBed at the remote office and one at the site in Sydney which is for network optimization. On the RiverBed with have all CIFS ports added and QoS marking done so it should be optimized.
Any assistance with how to fix this annoying issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

We're having the same exact issue in our office where we just installed a new Riverbed Steelhead as well... only happening in that office as well...User opens a document on a network share that the rest of the company works from day to day, they save 10
or 20 minutes later and BAM... "There has been a network or file permissions error. The network connection may be lost", then a non-hidden *.tmp file is then created in the same network directory as the actual file and the original file doesn't get
written to, you click [OK] on the error and then try to save again and it magically works...and you're left with a messy TMP file as well in the directory now. I doubt it's related to antivirus, definitely not firewall, reinstalling/repairing office and tweaking
settings doesn't help, I agree it has nothing to do with locking files or read-only files as they're plain old word docs and excel files...MAYBE it has to do with the Riverbed WANOP appliance but either way... don't you love how this thread just randomly died
    with no solutions? :'(   Thanks Micro$oft ;)
{Edit} Oh! And one last thing...this MIGHT help steer someone in the right direction in the future... there could be a problem related to your network filer such as a NetApp appliance, EMC, Netgear etc where there is an SMB version mis-match or a bug of some
kind requiring you to apply a patch your storage device in order to fix this type of issue.

  • Photoshop CS6 Randomly Crashes using Intel HD Graphics 4000

When using Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8 [Surface Pro], it randomly crashes. I normally can only use Photoshop for less than a minute, doing less than ten actions, before it crashes. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working." If I debug it using Visual Studio, I get this message:
Unhandled exception at 0x5442B60E (ig7icd32.dll) in Photoshop.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000002C.
I looked up ig7icd32.dll and it seems to be published by Intel and related to my graphics hardware, so I assume the problem is related to my Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem or as to what might be causing it?
    EDIT:
Also, when launching Photoshop, I get this message:
Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware.
Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software.
Graphics hardware enhancements can be enabled in the performance panel of preferences.
    For more information, visit:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/photoshop_gpu_en
All my drivers are fully updated, and all Windows updates are installed. No other applications have any problems with my graphics hardware.

If Intel does not have an updated driver, I would check the MS Surface Pro Web site.
If no updated driver exists, you might get it to run, if you turn off all graphics acceleration.
Unfortunately, Intel graphics chips are good, but driver support has been horrible. I recommend against using them, if one has programs like Ps CS 6, Premiere Pro CS 5 - 6, Premiere Elements 9 - 11, After Effects CS 6, any 3D applications, etc.. The Intel chips and drivers are OK for checking e-mail, surfing the Web, doing light wordprocessing, or some spreadsheet work, i.e. the tasks that they were designed for. They fall far short with video-intensive applications, that need to interface with the video driver.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Random crashes iMac mid 2011

    Hello fellow iMac users.
I’ve been experiencing random crashes/application crashes on my mid-2011 iMac for the last three months or so. I’ve taken the computer to my local Apple store twice, but the Geniuses there weren’t able to identify the problem after running their various diagnostic tools.
    In addition, I have:
    reformatted my hard disk and reinstalled all software from scratch;
    updated to Mavericks;
    removed one set of 2x 4GB RAM chips (purchased in mid 2013 from Apple online store), leaving original 2x4GB RAM;
    removed original 2x4GB RAM chips and reinserted 2x4GB RAM purchased in mid 2013 from Apple online store;
    restored all 16GB RAM;
run iMac diagnostics, disk utility, etc.
Following is the latest crash report. I would be most grateful if anyone could provide insight on what the problem might be related to:
    faulty software (I was running Office 2011 for Mac, Parallels, and Safari at time of latest crash)?;
    faulty RAM?;
    hard-disk;
    graphics card;
    CPU…
Many thanks in advance for any help and advice.

I used the shift key to boot and had it running for 4 hours and the gray progress bar never got past about 20%. That said I never got into a working safe mode.
I did however boot from the recovery drive and did the fix permissions and fix drive options. Drive check said drive looking good. Permission check showed about 5 permission issues which it was able to fix.
Restarting the system just takes ages and the harddrive keeps crunches away (not a clicking which would be an easy indicator for a bad hard drive). At 20GB Ram this is an odd behavior.

Kind of reminds me dealing with a Windows PC before I swapped to apple. Just wasting time. Time wasted: 5 hours. Is like a second job, unpaid.
Thanks for the help now I have to see if this has any positive effect. Will keep you posted.

  • A1 randomly crashes

My a1 will freeze and reboot while playing games and once while on the market. If anyone has any ideas on how to prevent this random crashing it would be much appreciated.

I agree that most random reboots are wifi related, however, I had a random reboot occur when playing a game two days ago (I was playing a canasta card game and when moving the cards, the A1 rebooted).
I've been seeing more frequency with reboots that are wifi related. Just 10 minutes ago, my A1 appeared to be stuck in a loop of sorts. I had my A1 off of the charger (running on battery only), and had set it next to me where it went to sleep for about 15 minutes. Normally I turn wifi off when I'm not using it, but since I had only briefly laid it down, I thought it would be ok. Wrong. I picked it back up, pressed to power button to wake it up, and saw the wifi had turned off. I have a widget I put on my desktop to make wifi accessibility easy, and tried to turn wifi back on, My A1 rebooted. I rolled my eyes, thinking, "oh boy, here we go again". My A1 finished booting up, I waited several seconds, and then tried turning wifi on again. Reboot, again. It did this FOUR times. I ended up totally powering my A1 down, waited several seconds, turned it back on and let it boot up. This time, when I enabled wifi, it didn't reboot.
I really hate cringing everytime I enable wifi on this thing, wondering if it's going to work. We also have an older Viewsonic G Tablet and two Android smartphones, and we don't ever go through this with any of those. They're not perfect by any means, but at least they don't reboot every time I turn around. Otherwise my A1 runs alright, but I'm not sure how much more of this wifi reboot crap I can tolerate. Let's hope Lenovo brings out some sort of an update to fix this issue. It's been going on long enough.
