Catch Exception - End User Form

Our end user form requires that we display the manger of the end user. We have the manager id stored for the logged in user so we grab the id and get the fullname. This functionality works fine.
<br><br>
The issue is if an id pointing to a manger that does not exist! Basically, an invalid id (no corresponding user exists) then the following error is thrown:
<br><br>
XPRESS exception ==> com.waveset.util.WavesetException: Can't call method getObject on class com.waveset.ui.FormUtil ==> com.waveset.util.InternalError: ID not passed to ObjectCache.getObjectIfExists
<br><br>
How do we capture this or any other error on an end user form (not a workflow)? Or do we need to check to see if the user exists before we try to get the fullname? And if so, how?
<br><br>
The last part of my code to get the fullname:
<br><br>
<RuleArgument name='mgrPersId'/>
<cond>
<notnull>
<ref>mgrPersId</ref>
</notnull>
<invoke name='getObjectNames' class='com.waveset.ui.FormUtil'>
<new class='com.waveset.session.InternalSession'/>
<s>User</s>
<map>
<s>conditions</s>
<list>
<new class='com.waveset.object.AttributeCondition'>
<s>name</s>
<s>equals</s>
<ref>mgrPersId</ref>
</new>
</list>
</map>
</invoke>
<null/>
</cond>
</Rule>

Please suggest anyone.... Its Urgent....

Vinash

  • Is that possible to catch exception of a form

    Hi,
    As we know, in ABAP exception handling can be at least 2 ways:
    1. For class exception:
    try
    catch cl_ex into ex.
    endcatch.
    2. For function module:
    call function 'function'
      exceptions
       ex  = 1
       others = 99.
    3. is it possible to capture non_class exception from a form?
    Thanks and regards,

  • Session Error - Cannot call getObject on :display.session on a user form

    On an end user form I have a manager label.
    The manager attribute in the user object holds the unique identifier but I must display the full name.
    <br><br>
    So I have the following code to go get the fullname:
    <br><br>
    <block>
    <invoke name='getAttribute'>
    <invoke name='getObject'>
    <ref>:display.session</ref>
    <s>User</s>
    <ref>accounts[Lighthouse].sponsor</ref>
    </invoke>
    <s>fullname</s>
    </invoke>
    </block>
    <br><br>
    Now it does go ahead and display the fullname but at the same time throws the following error on the page:
    <br><br>
    ERROR:XPRESS exception ==> com.waveset.util.WavesetException: Can't call method getObject on class com.waveset.session.LocalSession ==> com.waveset.util.InternalError: ID not passed to ObjectCache.getObject
    <br><br>
    Since it is not a workflow I think I need to use the :display.session reference.
    <br><br>
    Is there another approach I could try? Do you have any suggestions?

    You could also use the following for your session:
    <br><br>
    <invoke name='getCache'>
                      <new class='com.waveset.session.InternalSession'/>
    </invoke><br><br>
    But the biggest problem I see is the string value User. I think it needs the following:
    <br><br>
    <invoke name='findType' class='com.waveset.object.Type'>
                        <st>User</st>
    </invoke><br><br>
    Note: I used st instead of s to avoid a strikethrough.
    <br><br>
    If I'm not mistaken, your code could then look like this:
    <br><br>
    <block>
    <invoke name='getAttribute'>
      <invoke name='getObject'>
          <invoke name='getCache'>
                      <new class='com.waveset.session.InternalSession'/>
          </invoke>
          <invoke name='findType' class='com.waveset.object.Type'>
                        <st>User</st>
          </invoke>
           <ref>accounts[Lighthouse].sponsor</ref>
      </invoke>
      <st>fullname </st>
    </invoke>
    </block> <br><br>
    Best,

  • How to create a PDF form which can be filled out and saved with change by end user

    I am using Acrobat 8.0 - Mac - and want to create a PDF with text form fields. Simple one page file. The end user needs to be able to fill out the text form fields and SAVE those changes. so far they can fill out the fields but can not save the file with changes.
    Thanks

    After the uproar from Users about Standard being little more than Apple's Print to PDF; there hasn't been a Standard version for Mac since version 6. So many people were use the features in Acrobat 5  to create Forms that could be filled out by Reader. when the bought 6 Standard they were ready to hang the CEO of Adobe in effigy. When 7 came out is was Pro only.
    I'm confused.
    The current version of Acrobat comes in Standard, Pro, and Extended Pro versions. Only the Pro version is on the Mac. But that doesn't mean that the Mac community wouldn't have wanted the Standard version of Acrobat.
    The Standard version is hardly a mimic of Apple's Save to PDF. The most important features of Standard is to enable Rights in Reader as well as add comments, form fields. etc.
    The only thing that Standard does do are the pre-press and production features of Pro.
    However, given the difference in price ($450 vs. $300) there is ample reason for business on the Mac OS to buy Standard--if they could buy it.
    I didn't say PC users.
    I should have said Mac users. Because the Print system and sytem by which Mac users view anything is based on the PDF engine. The Mac sytem can do anything Standard Standrd could do. although in order to placate Adobe the pdf engine used is a version or two behind. If the Mac OS could do everything Acrobat could do there would be no reason for Adobe to provide Acrobat Or Reader for Mac.
    And you basing your assumption of what Standard can do a PC. Standard on Mac is basically Mac's Print to PDF  wrapped in an Adobe Package. It shad no ability to confer rights to reader (that didn't come to Acrobat Mac until Version 8) and was unable to to create forms. The current version of Acrobat PC comes as Standard, Pro, And extended. There never has and never will be an extended pro version for Mac (that adds the ability to create XML based forms) They don't have the interest. To adobe is little more than a Play toy. Because Windows has so much clout They can dictate what they want. Apple not so much. One advantage Mac does have is that Forms creator is built in. on PC its an adon (it free but an addon or was).
    Now back in OS 9 days and Acrobat 5.x Acrobat for Mac and PC were equal. except to have the print press features Mac users had to pay an addition $200.00.  (It exactly as you described in your last sentence - except Acrobat 5.x without the printpress and The Acrobat 5 without Print press was $299.00 and $499.00 with Print press.) I know I've used Acrobat since version 3.

  • End User Can Not Open A Form within Responsibility

    Hi to all,
    I have an end user who tries to click on a form within a responsibility. And the form does not launch. As matter of fact, the browser green progress bar does not show up. There are other forms within that same responsbility that she is able to launch.
    This end user was not having this issue before. She was able to launch any forms under any responsibility without any issue.
    I tested the same responsbility and same forms on my machine as was able to launch without any issue.
    These are the following conditions the end user has:
    IE 7
    Jinitiator 1.3.1.29
    I tried the following steps to remedy the issue:
    Cleared cache and cookies.
    Clear jar cache
    Did not fix the problem
    Reinstalled Jinitiator
    Did not fix the problem
    I turned on the show java console and show exceptions dialog box on end user jinitiator. When I go back and click on the problematic form, no java console shows up, nor does any exceptions dialog box.
    Does anyone have an idea, why this may be occurring and how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks

    Greetings Hussein,
    I worked on your recommend steps, and still unable to resolve issue:
    Try opening the form using your username from the user's machine, and do the same with this specific user from some other machine.
    I logged onto oracle with my credentials, and went to the same responsibility and form. This issue happens to me. But when I go back to my local machine. I have no problems.
    Did you try using some other browser on the user's machine (for example, Firefox)?
    I installed firefox, but everytime I click on a form, it tells me to download jinitiator.
    Any recent changes have been done on the user's machine or in the user's profile options?
    Unsure what profile options have changed for user

    If none of the above helps, obtain FRD and see if you get more details about the error -- See (Note: 150168.1 - Obtaining Forms Runtime Diagnostics (FRD) In Oracle Applications 11i).
    I uninstalled jinitiator, then reinstalled. Turned on java console and enabled tracing. Console/tracing does not come up for this form. On other forms it does.
    I uninstalled jinitiator a third time. Then reinstalled. What I notice is that jinitiator still has the java console checked and tacing parameters set. What I believe could be happening is the jinitiator is not being uninstalled completely.
    Where or how can I check if the jinitiator gets removed completely.
    I have check the control panel and jinitiator is not there. I also check HKLM and it is not there also.
    Any ideas how to move forward.

  • Form Designed in LiveCycle will not work for End User

    Please Help!
    I am a newbie to Adobe LiveCycle but recognized the utility in the program, so decided to give it a while to try and streamline some of my employer's forms.  After spending too much time learning how to design a form (much to the dislike of my boss), I am finally going to have to ask for some help.  So here's the deal:
    I've designed a dynamic pdf in LiveCycle with two master pages and two repeating flowed subforms.  The first repeating subform is basically an expanding table intended to be used as a photographer's log where they can log each photo taken with the camera.  The expanding table has some code with a button at the top for the end user to enter the number of photos on the photo roll, click submit, and table expands to however many instances of rows are needed for each photo that was taken.  The second subform is basically an image field and text fields used as photo captions/photo compilation pages.  When the end user clicks submit on the first subform to expand the table, I also have javascript in that click event to also create same amouint of instances of the second subform (the photo compilation page(s)).  Each text field for the photo caption on the second subform is populated by the data entered into the photo log table cells.  I was able to find a script to correctly populate those fields for each instance of the table.  Wish I had the form here, but it's at work at the moment.
    My problem is this: I've scratched and clawed to get all of the forms expanding correctly and the scripts populating each instance of the fields correctly and everything works great in LiveCycle preview.  I then saved the form as PDF for use by my field crew personnel (whom all use, at the very least, Adobe Pro 9, but most Pro X).  I sent the new form to them and they move it to their desktop, open it with Adobe Pro, and populate all of the fields and everything works swimmingly.  However, once they save it, it gets all jumbled and they can't even print it.  We even thought we found a workaround by entering all data and printing to PDF, but even that has turned out to not work.  I checked to make sure that I designed and saved the form in LiveCycle for use with the Adobe Pro versions, but still not working for my end users.
    Anyone have any thoughts on my long explanation??  Please HELLLLPPPP!

    The error(s) occur when trying to save the document.  I want each user to tell the first page how many rows they will need in the photo log table, so they would enter however many photos were taken in the box: "Number of Photos on Roll:"  ---> Then click the "Submit" cmd button.  That should expand the table.  Once it expands, it should also add the same amount of instances of the photo compilation page (2nd Page) as there are rows in 1st page table.  Then the user will populate each cell of the table on page 1 with data.  The data entered into the page 1 table cells will populate the text fields (photo caption) in Page 2 once the user clicks on the "Populate Captions!" cmd button in the lower left corner of the table on Page 1.
    The problem is in the distributing of the form to the user so they can save the form after populating the data.  I did a test run this morning and for some reason it did do the "print to PDF" correctly for 5 photos on the roll (though this has not been happening every time and especially for a large number of pages, ie. 80 photos).  However, after entering the data for 5 rows on page 1 and then populating the 5 photo compilation pages, I saved a copy as "Save As PDF" and closed the document.  Then re-opened the copy in Acrobat Pro X.  The new copy:
    -had 5 additional rows added to Page 1
    -Duplicates of some of the fields
    -Only retained the 1st instance of the Second Page (Photo w/ Caption) and not all fields were populated
    Again, this all works fine in the LiveCycle Preview but not anywhere else.  I do not have this set up to be linked to an external data source (YET) but there is javascript in the cmd buttons.  I also do not want to distribute this form to end users and then collect the data back from them.  I want them to be able to save a copy of my LiveCycle designed form, open in Adobe Pro, populate the data and save as many copies as needed for form production.

  • Forms application not opening for the end user.

    I have an Oracle Form that works fine when I copy the url into the browser and user the login credentials of the schema owner. But when I use the credentials of the end user, it does not open the form. I receive no error messages.
    To troubleshoot, I opened the form in Forms Builder, log in as the end user and Compile, but I get no error messages.
    I also took a call to a server-side procedure that is in the Form, and ran it in SQL Developer, once again while logged in as the end user, and it ran successfully.
    I’m not sure what could be wrong. Any suggestions on how to debug this?

    To troubleshoot, I opened the form in Forms Builder, log in as the end user and Compile, but I get no error messages.What happens if you run the form from forms-builder with that credentials.

  • How to Allow the End User to Save a Form

    How do I allow an end user to save form after they've filled it out? I understand this can be accomplished using the distribute function where you email the form to people. We don't want to do that. We want to put it on a website and allow them to access it, open it, fill it out, then save a copy to their hard drive (with the data they entered visible). I have searched the forums and cannot seem to find a solution for this.  Thanks, in advance!

    Hi Kyle. Thank you for the reply.  I do have Acrobat Pro, so I will try that. To make sure I understand correctly, the form has to be create in LiveCycle Developer, then you have to open it on Acrobat Pro and set the permissions?

  • How to set an 'alert'  or reminder message for end-user Acrobat X form.

    Hi,
    I'm trying to see if I can add an alert or reminder message for the end user who will be filling in a form that I'm creating from Acrobat Pro X.
    Does it require a script if so, could anyone share one that is already exists?
    If it doesn't need a script, how can I set that up?
    What I want to do, is to remind end-user to fill in Numbers Only and not text.  I have already set my properties for numbers only and provided an example. But, In-case end users did not understand, I'd like to have a message for them to say that they must type in number and not text.
    Currently, with the limitation I've made, they couldn't type in any letters but, they might be frustrated and not fill in anything!
    Please help!
    Thanks,

    Thank you for the code.
    Is it correct to put that code under VALIDATE > run custome validate script, within the Properties box?
    Because I tried it, and it worked only AFTER I typed a number onto the field.
    Since my goal is to have the alert BEFORE, so if someone typed in a text, they should see the alert and correct themselves to type in a number instead.
    Please clarify.
    Thanks!

  • When creating a fillable form fields from an existing pdf file, how do you set or allow end user to set the font size in the fields?

    I successfully created a form filled pdf using an existing pdf document.  However, the font size is too large to allow end user to type in information in the form box.  Is there a way to 1)globally set all  of the form fields when generated to a much smaller font size &/or 2) allow end user to change the font size if needed to put all information in one box without font being so large?

    Hi DenisonDoc,
    There is no option right now to set properties globally primarily for Text fields. You may make sure fields doesn't contain anything.
    Select all the text filed from the form and right click any of the selected field make sure all of them are selected choose properties --> Appearance there you can choose Font Size and Font type.
    - End users cant change size and type of font. It is up to designer.

  • End users are not able to save interactive pdf form created with designer

    I am new to using LiveCycle Designer and have created a pdf form but my end users are not able to save edited form. Does this have something to do with whether the form is static or dynamic. If so, I am not exactly sure how to use the restorestate option to convert it back to static. I also tried to enable the "user rights access in adobe reader" under the advance menu and had no luck.
    My end users have acrobat reader 9 - do I need them to download anything else, maybe professional.

    Thanks Paul for your reponse
    In my Adobe Pro I don't see the option Reader Extend rather I enabled "Enabled Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" amd I figured this was somewhat the same. So if I enabled this option in Adobe Pro already and they are still not able to edit the fillable text slots or save it what other option do I have in figuring this out.

  • End user have ability to change font style in text field of interactive pdf form?

    Does the end user of an interactive pdf form able to change the font style, i.e.: make something bold or underline a word in a text field?
    I am making a form with text fields and the end user would like the ability to make something bold or underline it.. I do not see anywhere in acrobat that allows styles to be changed.
    I have created the form in Indesign > saved it as an interactive pdf and brought it into Acrobat.

    Thank you for the quick response! Do you set this in Indesign before exporting or do you set this in Acrobat? I am in Acrobat 10.1.10 and when I go to properties it doesn't give me  'options' to choose from.

  • Auto-populate form fields based on end user input?

    I'm currently attempting to create a new form that has a combo box "Locations" with various options.  What I'm looking to do is have another text field auto populate other fields related to that location (such as address, contact information) to save on time and reduce opportunity for end user errors in input.
    What are my options for accomplishing such a task?  Some form of binding fields with a MS database possibly?
    Thanks in advance for any advice and assistance on this matter!

    Paul,
    The form and (potential) database would be located on a shared drive on the company network in which those that would use the form already have access to.
    The pc's that user's would be using have Reader 9.
    The pc I'm using for developing this form has LC Designer 8, Acrobat Professional 8, and Reader 9.
    Ideally, I would "like" for the end user to have the ability to add new locations, addresses, etc ... in the event it is needed, although this would not be likely to come up.
    Based on the software I have on hand, and the need to not incur additional expenses, what would you suggest?
    Thanks again Paul!

  • Allowing end-user to create a user using a form

    Hi all,
    I'm working on a project whereby I must allow end-users from anywhere to create an account for themselves (Register).
    Which table/object should I create a form on to enable users to register.
    (APEX 3.1.2)
    kind regards
    Mel

    Hi Mel,
    I just set up custom authentication for the last application I developed. The user table is pretty simple and you can easily hash the passwords. I even developed a process where a person can change their own password and the process email them of any such changes. Course, that requires an email address to be a column in the user table.
    There is a relatively new Apex book out titled Pro Oracle Application Express. It has a lot of good information concerning custom authentication. It takes you through the whole process, step by step. Also, the book is excellent in itself and definitely worth having. It has a lot of good information in it.

  • Forcing end user to open the child form in the resource request dataset

    Hi,
    Is there any way where we can force end user to open the child form of a resource request dataset and enter the values for the attributes in the child form. The child form attribute is mandatory. However, currently, OIM allows user to submit the request without opening the child form and to enter values for child form attributes(which is mandatory).
    Thanks.

    Child dataset attributes are set to required="true". But it will come into picture only if end user opens the child form. If he forgets to open the child form, still he is able to submit request without entering values to the attibutes(whose required=true) in the child form. OIM is alowing to submit request if he doesn't open the child form.
    I hope i was able to put it in corrrect way.
    Thanks.
