Digital looking clock

Can anyone tell me how I could have a digital looking clock (hh:mm:ss) in the corner of my applet. I can't find a good java class to do this. I can get the date ok but the time never works right.
Cheers

Do you mean the display, or actually getting the current time?
If you have a problem getting the time, take a look at the java.util.GregorianCalendar class.

  • Creating a digital countdown clock.

    Hey everyone!
Sorry for the newbie question, or maybe it's not. I'm trying to create a digital countdown clock for a project and am at my wits end. I've tried using the TCG but it doesn't go nearly high enough (175K hours) and I've tried frame animating one, but that turned into a nightmare....quickly. I've tried using Motion to accomplish the task and am getting nowhere fast. So, the question, does anyone know of a nifty tutorial or (hopefully) macro/plugin I could use to simulate a countdown timer?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Can I Disable Password Lock When iPod is Docked in Digital Alarm Clock?

Hi. I bought a Jensen Docking Digital Clock Radio for iPod and set it up today. When I dock it on the Jensen and set the alarm to turn on and play a song, the password makes the alarm just buzz. I cannot find a way to keep the iPod unlocked -- is there a way to do so? I tried removing the password and cannot using Settings. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Matt,
I understand your concern, although I wasn’t able to find a way to disable or change these embedded Windows messages.
With Account Lockout policy enabled, the risk that accounts being hacked has been reduced a lot. In addition, we can monitor security logs to determine whether hacking behaviors exist or not.

  • Making digital looking smoke

I love this effect and am trying to recreate it just using Photoshop but I'm not really getting the effect right.
I saw this; http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials-effects/creating-a-stunning-digital-smoke-effect/ and was wondering if anyone could help to make this without using illustrator at the beginning?
    Many thanks, P

When I have had to create "smoke," I have always gone to Painter (now Corel Painter), and done it on a Layer to bring into PS, where Blending and Opacity are changed.
Alien Skin has a "smoke" plug-in, IIRC, but I have not used it.
Now that PS has added much more control on the Brushes, I'd look into finding a Brush that has some striations in the tip, kind of like a Speedball Steel Brush, or a Japanese Dry Brush. Then, work with grays. That tutorial gives you some shapes to think about and work into the stroke - a pressure sensitive tablet/stylus would be very useful. Set the Opacity to Pressure, and also experiment with Color to Pressure, and change you Color to near white and then darker gray.
Once you have something on your Layer, look at the Blending Modes and also Opacity.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Inserting a digital countdown clock using iWeb

Now I need to do all of this so if anyone has any wicked code or whatever to be able to put a clock counting down using iWeb I would very much appreciate the help. I have a web site using iWeb and use forwarding to link it to the website name, I would love to have a clock counting down as part of my pages!!!
    Steve :o) Can anyone help?

You can add just about any type of html code, widget, or add-on to your iWeb site if you are willing to do a little post-publish editing.
    Basic Instructions are here:
    http://iweb.varkgirl.com
(Click on the first "tip" link in the list)
Check http://www.widgetbox.com or just do a google search for a countdown clock and then use my instructions to add it in.

  • Digital Clock Widget for OS X

Hi, I've just bought a Mac Air (OS X 10.8). Does anyone know of any digital world clock widgets for dashboard? I'd like something similar to the digital clock available on my iphone where I can show the time and date of various countries around the world simultaneously.
I've searched for hours and cant find many digital clock widgets at all. Can anyone help?
    Thanks

The links don't allow to download anymore, at least not from Firefox and I cannot spend all my times juggling between three web browsers because now web development is becoming browser-targeted. I am just getting a page describing the applications. Links either go to a widget browser or to Apple's page describing the Mac computer. Moreover, the Mac page somehow disables keyboard shortcut for Back in Firefox, which is an additional unnecessary annoyance. I needed a digital clock widget to work around the fact that the time displayed in the upper right corner of the screen is in a too small font for me to read comfortably, and there is no way to enlarge the font. Seems I have to take the plunge and write myself a small application, quite bad that something so basic is not out of the box and download links are always broken or outdated.

  • Clock beep on my Imac

Hi! I've got a problem in my "vintage" 2007 Imac. It's a beep that sounds randomly while working. It's NOT A STARTUP BEEP. It's exactly a beep like the old digital Casio clocks from the 80's when they beep every hour. I've bben googling but I don't find anybody with the same problem... Maybe I'm the only one in the whole universe that got this problem??? I've called Apple but they couldn't tell me anything about it...
To show you exactly how that beep sound I have this video from Youtube that it's a kind of tutorial of how to get rid off that sound in the Casio clock.
So my beep it's exactly like this one at 1:32,
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fl22dTiG5hA
The only difference is that I got only one, randomly.
So maybe somebody here could tell where that beep comes from...? Maybe it's from outer space??
    Thank you all!

  • How they create the cinematic look (Basic Film Question)

Just wondering how real cinema is done with digital cameras. Is it filters, or their cameras, or programs which clean the colors and image up, like After Effects, or all of the above? Seeing all digital movies like "Inland empire" was a little disappointing because the digital look is, well, TOO realistic.
Traditional film in most movies for the last two decades always has the same feel, where it's not familiar enough to resemble a home movie, but close enough that you can identify with it.
Anyways, I'm just pondering the potentials of my low budget and access to these great programs, such as FCP and AE, and I wanted to know if it is indeed possible to create what we see from modern films with our humble means. Phew.
    thanks.

I think it comes down to a couple of things. Film has grain. (but you could add that to the RED shots an get it that way if that's what you want).
The other thing that will replace film is plain dollars and sense. You can buy 24 RED One setups with the cost savings of a major motion picture's film stock/processing/telecine costs. With the general public not being able to tell the difference (heck most of them can't tell the difference between video and film now), Hollywood is gonna take those savings. They already are actually... there are many films right now in production using RED ONE... and if it makes the bucks that a film shoot does, trust me, producers are going to start wanting RED shoots instead of 35...
The situation reminds me a lot of the time when Hollywood editors wouldn't touch an Avid, because they said they "needed" to feel the freaking celluloid. PLEEZE... the real reason was they were computer illiterate and quite frankly, they were too lazy to get up to speed. It wasn't until the younger editors began to get it that Avid began to take hold in motion picture production. Took years for this in fact. The same thing is going on right now with DP's and RED. I think it scares them a bit and there's that old "film is better than video" thing that still pervades.
Content is king. Doesn't matter what you shot on.

  • LabVIEW controlled Arduino outputting self-clocking signal

    Hello All,
I am trying to be able to control my LED light strip (http://www.adafruit.com/products/1376) using LabVIEW and Arduino. To do so I need to make Arduino output a digital self-clocking signal, specifically a combination of two square waves of fixed frequency with varying duty cyle. The two waves represent either a 0 or 1 to the LED strip.
0   =   HIGH for 400 ns then LOW for 850 ns
1   =   HIGH for 800 ns then LOW for 450 ns
In the end, using either of those waves as a bit, I would like the full signal to have 3600 bits. After one full signal the pin would remain LOW until I want to change the color again, and would send another 3600 bit signal.
(If you want more info on the data transmission protocol, there is more info here: http://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-neopixel-uberguide/advanced-coding#writing-your-own-library)
Is there a way of controlling the output of the Arduino at such high speeds through LabVIEW. If you can think of any way of doing this, please let me know.
    Thanks!

AFAIK, the arduino LabVIEW interface module only reads and writes pin values, and it can't do this with the timing precision you need. The only way around this is to write some arduino code, which can't be done in LabVIEW.

  • Os10.3.9 crash-screen is now 'flickery'-looks like wrong refresh rate

I crashed Protools (typical in osx it seems). After a restart my screen (digital) looks all flickery - sort of like the messed up look you can get by selecting the wrong refresh rate or unsupported resolution.
    1. It's not the monitor - I have 2 other os's installed (os9.2.2 and os10.4.7) which continue to work fine.
    2. Tech Tool can find nothing wrong.
    3. OS10.3 is my only choice for PT6.4.1 - my point: can't upgrade.
    4. The display settings are as I last set them and yes I tried simply re-selecting the same options.
    5. I'll speculate that the display driver got corrupted or something.
    6. I've restarted several times and switched back and forth between os's with no change in my corrupt 10.3.9.
    7. The Protools hardware tests OK and is still running in os9.
    8. I haven't really tried running anything serious in the corrupt os10.3.9 so I don't know if there are any other clues.
Anyone seen this and know what to do?

    3) If you do not specify a restricted list of modelines, I'm pretty sure all of them will be read from the EDID. I have only one modeline appearing in the output of xrandr and only one appearing in the XFCE display dialog. I do this in the "Display" SubSections where you list all the bit depths.
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "Card0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth 16
    SubSection "Display"
    Viewport 0 0
    Depth 16
    Modes "1024x768"
    EndSubSection
    EndSection
I never restricted anything, the modes are simply not there in the EDID. Call it manufacturers safety, I call it manucafturers dumbness. Anyway, what I like is full list of modes from 640x480 to maximum supported with every single refresh rate mode which wont kill my eyes (85+ Hz). Usually the highest modes aren't there even if the display supports them. Missing refresh rate modes are the most typical flaw here.

vacant: Yes, this is one solution, although not nice, but in this case I get
    xrandr: Configure crtc 0 failed
when trying manually added mode, as I already wrote.

  • Frame blending and Film look

    Hi everyone,
I'm editing a moutain bike video shot with a sony HDR FX1 in HD and imported as SD.
Editing is finished and if I preview the video on my computer screen its just fine, but if viewed on a TV it has of course that artificial digital look far away from film. now, I noticed that the portions of clips that have been slowed down to 50% and used "frame blending" do look a lot better... by better I mean, they loose a bit of that digital "sharpness". I also played with gamma and colors but I think that the "frame blending" adds a sort of "softness.
I was wondering: if I duplicate my sequence, overlap the original with it's duplicate and play abit with blur (or else?) and make it let's say 30% transparent... would that help?
    any suggestions?
I've seen a skiing video presented on QT website shot in HD and compressed H264... and it has that perfect film look.
Would love to know your thoughts.
    Thanks
    Ciao

    Ok,
this is the procedure I courageously undertook:
    1. duplicate of my sequence
    2. added to the new sequence a level 4 blurr
    3. played with color and gamma levels
    4. overlapped the two sequences
    5. adgusted transparency of the copy sequence according to the different portions of clips... some may result too dark. Transparency goes from 50 to 75%
Result: clearly a less digital look - closer to film -smooth
Downsides: loss of luminosity - everytime I change transparency it takes about 5 hours to render and if it doesn't look how you want it, you have to add another 5 hours.
Raises a problem: on TV it has a look and on a computer screen it has another. Consequently you have to create two separate files according to where you want to play it!
I'm sure there is a better way to do it.

  • Two digital channel output question

    Hi, everyone
I need some helps on design two digital channel output
In brief, I want to use a PCI-6731 output with BNC2110. Two digital
output channel will be used, e.g. Dev1/port0/line0:1. I hope line0 could
output a steady finite samples in frequency f1 (e.g. 10kHz), and total
number of samples like N1 (e.g. 1E6); in the mean time, I hope line1
    could output finite samples in frequency f2 = f1/M (e.g. 2kHz), and
    number of samples like N2 = N1/M (e.g. 2E5). In another words, I expect
line0 and line1 output same time length samples sequence with different
frequency and also different number. Please note that parameter should
be expected to be controllable, and sometime f2 and N2 are not exactly
integer (then we need take round value).
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Solved!

Attached is a vi that does what you want, I think. It used two digital outputs clocked by one of the counters. The digital outputs are fed waveforms that are generated by making two frequencies with an integer ratio. You can change the part of the code that generates the waveforms as you wish, and use the rest to do the output.

  • Setup external clock

I just bought a GENx192 by lucid. I was having problems with the projectmix and my audio. So I went and picked up a better clock. But now Im wondering how to hook it all up. I have it hooked up I think. But do I have to set the sample rate on both the GENx and in logic or if I have it sync right should I be able to just set the GENx and Logic should change also. Thanks.
I cant remember the name of the cable that I use but its a monster cable and it is the right one thats for sure.

I have an iMac (Intel) running Tiger 10.4.11 and when I have a digital input to this Mac I can see the signal is going in on the input meter in the iMac. But the clock source "default" is greyed out. But it must be clocking to this audiio... I figure... otherwise it would not sync to it. When I remove this input I cannot select external/digital clocking. When I connect a firewire digital audio interface and select properties for it I can select clocking for it either internal or digital.
But my real problem is on a Mac Pro running Leopard 10.5.3. On this Mac it seems to me that I cannot select external or digital clocking under any conditions.
And I am wondering if a change has been from Tiger to Leopard such that there is no option to select digital/external clocking for audio. That is the crux of my question?

  • Lock screen clock changed to analog clock

I use either Sony clock or digital clock on lock screen.  However, it will get changed to analog clock for no reason.  Few times already.  Changed it back to digital/Sony clock, but it goes back to analog clock after awhile (days).
Anyone see this behavior?  Any way to make the Sony/digital clock to stick?
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have not experienced this behaviour and just like Thommo said, the clock should stick as long as you don't change it or have any application that affect it. Are you sure that you lock the screen when you put the phone in your pocket or similar?
