Does Hyperion supports MS SQL Analysis Service 2008

We are evaluating potential application that may be used by our company and would
like to get some information. May I know if:
1. Hyperion On Demand and
2. Hypersion Universal Data Access
would be able to support MS Analysis Services 2008 (MSAS 2008)?
Also, is there any documentation that I can read about Hyperion application?
Please let me know if you require more information.
Thank you,

It is currently not published anywhere that they do, but I suspect from a app repository perspective that you can get it to work. I have 2008 installed on my local machine and am going to test install applications that need a RDBMS repository. I think it will work, but I think it will be some time before oracle publishes that it works with MS SQL 2008.

    any help much appriciated.

    Drill-down feature is a basic requirement, it is concluded in Reporting service from SSRS2000 to SSRS2008 R2, To
    your scenario I think the root cause is relevant to your incorrect steps. Please follow the steps below and then give the feedback:
    1.     Right-click the child groups in the
    Row Groups panel which is at the left-bottom of the BIDS, and then select
    Group Properties…
    2.
    Switch to Visibility tab, and then select
    Hide Radio-button, click the checkbox of Display can be toggled by this report item.
    3.
    Then select the parent group datafield in the drop-down list.
    4.
    Click OK.

  • Connecting SQL Analysis Services 2005 cube with obiee 10g

    Hello experts,
    I'm trying to link an SQL Analysis Services 2005 cube with obiee 10g.
    In Oracle BI Administration, when I choose File -> Import -> From
    Multi-dimensional, I have to fill the next gaps:
    Provider Type: Analysis Services 2005
    URL: ***********
    User: blank
    Password: blank
    Before to do that, I need to create the URL path.
    To create the URL, I have followed this link.
    http://erpthings.blogspot.com/2008/08/obiee-connection-to-msas-2005-
    cube.html
    But, it hasn't worked because when I was trying to configure the HTTP
    access to SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, we have to perform a test to ensure that it has been well configured. In IIS -> WebSites -> Default WebSites -> olap, we should browse the document called "msmdpump.dll" and this should show an xml document, but it doesn't.
    Thanks!

    Hi Alex
    It sounds like your MS data pump might not be configured correctly. First ensure that is working before trying to put the values into OBIEE. Don't worry about the 500 error - I get that too instead of an XML page.
    You can read a bit more about SSAS support on my blog here:

  • The schedule in Power BI report refresh error with the powerpivot or powerview with SQL Analysis services as data source

    In the Power BI Admin Centre, the data sources that cannot be setup with Analysis services, and it has the error to schedule the powerpivot or powerview report to have data refresh. The error is "我們無法重新整理此報表中的資料來源種類。" - english, "We

    Winsee

    It is not currently supported. You might be able to create a linked server in SQL to be a proxy for the connection and enable scheduled refresh if you are desperate.

  • SharePoint Performance services requirement- SQL analysis services

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a question I was hoping someone would verify the answer to. One of the requirements for setting up Performance Point services is for there to be a SQL analysis service instance that sharepoint interacts with. This is particularly true if want to create dashboards
    that are Dynamic(Please correct me if I am wrong).My question is, must SQL analysis in sharepoint mode be used instead of any other form of SQL analysis services, for performance point services to work at all or is it the case that other forms of
    SQL analysis services mode( ie Tabular and Multidimentional) will work but function will be limited?
    Thanks,
    Dominic

    Hi Dominic,
    According to your description, you need to know if SQL analysis in SharePoint mode is must or we can use other form of SQL analysis services in PerformancePoint Services in SharePoint Server, right?
    PerformancePoint Services in SharePoint Server 2013 supports PowerPivot models as a data source. You can use data in a PowerPivot model and build interactive dashboards using PerformancePoint Services features such as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Scorecards,
    Analytic Charts, Analytic Grids and Filters. So if you need to use PowerPivot models as a data source, then first you need to install PowerPivot for SharePoint which is an Analysis Services instance.
    In your scenario, what do you mean by "other form of SQL analysis services"? Pleas elaborate it, so that we can make further analysis. Here are some useful links for you reference.

  • Cannot start Analysis Services 2008 service

    Hi!
    I have Sql Server 2008 R2 and Analysis Services 2008. I could use it without problems for few days, but today, when I stop analysis service with Sql Server Configuration Manager and tried to start it again, it gives me error message: "The request failed
    or the service did not respond in a timely fashion. Consult the event log or other applicable error logs for details". The msmdsrv.log file doesnt have any entries related to this error.
    Both Sql Server and AS are installed on my local machine and log on as LocalSystem.
    My system is XP sp3 professional.

  • Is SQL Analysis Services black-holing my server's memory?

    I'm running a SQL 2008 SP2 database engine on a server that also hosts analysis services and reporting services.  The server has 32GB of memory.  When I run performance monitor against it, I can see only 2.5GB in use:  see the included screen
    shot.  Yet, the server reports that out of that 32GB, only 208 MB are free.
    How can I discover which other process or 'gremlin' is sucking the missing 30 GB of memory?

    How can I discover which other process or 'gremlin' is sucking the missing 30 GB of memory?
    Then check the other processes.
    And yes, SQL Server and SSAS have a different strategy in utilizing the memory (RAM) and depending on the current workload it can happen, that e.g. SSAS requires the memory used by SQL Server and this can cause performance problem. If you use SQL Server
    as data warehouse for SSAS, then you will see this effect extremely during cube processing.

  • Does DII support document based web service?

    Hi,
    I am writing a web service cleint DII, the web service is document based. I followed the sample in
    https://bpcatalog.dev.java.net/nonav/soa/standalone-client/
    Everything seems correct. When I call call.invoke, I got an exception saying "operation style: \"document\" not supported".
    Here is the code fragment, can anyone tell me what's wrong or does DII support document based service?
    Thanks a lot!
    Y. Zhao
    try {
    ServiceFactory factory = ServiceFactory.newInstance();
    service = factory.createService(new QName(EXTRACTURLSERVICE));
    port = new QName(EXTRACTURLPORT);
    } catch (Exception se) {
    // throw new Exception("Can not create stock service: " + se.getMessage());
    _endPointAddr = "http://www.atomic-x.com/xmlservices/HyperlinkExtractor.asmx";
    _qnameNamespaceURI = new QName("ExtractUrl");
    requestQname = new QName(NAMESPACE_URI, "ExtractUrl");
    responseQname = new QName(NAMESPACE_URI, "ExtractUrlResponse");
    Call call = null;
         try {
    call = service.createCall(port);
    call.setTargetEndpointAddress(_endPointAddr);
    call.setProperty(Call.SOAPACTION_USE_PROPERTY,
    Boolean.TRUE);
    call.setProperty(Call.SOAPACTION_URI_PROPERTY, "http://www.atomic-x.com/xmlservices/HyperlinkExtractor/ExtractUrl");
    call.setProperty("javax.xml.rpc.encodingstyle.namespace.uri", "");
    call.setProperty(Call.OPERATION_STYLE_PROPERTY, "document");
    call.setProperty(Call.ENCODINGSTYLE_URI_PROPERTY, "literal");
    call.addParameter("parameters", requestQname, ExtractUrl.class, ParameterMode.IN);
    call.setReturnType(responseQname, ExtractUrlResponse.class);
    result = (ExtractUrlResponse)call.invoke((Object[])params);
         } catch (Exception ex) {
    //throw new ServiceException("Can not get service: " + ex.getMessage());
    String msg = ex.getMessage();
    ex.printStackTrace();
         }

    There shouldn't be any restriction on the type of payload that's specific to DII.
    I did come across a similar message, but I found the cause back in the WSDL rather than the client code. Have a look at the WSDL and see if it mentions "RPC" meaning the web service is making available a remote procedure call interface.

    statment.executeUpdate("DROP DATABASE IF EXISTS diy55;CREATE DATABASE IF NOT EXISTS diy55 DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8;GRANT SELECT,INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE,CREATE,DROP,ALTER,INDEX,USAGE on diy55.* TO 'diy55'@'localhost' identified by 'diy55';FLUSH PRIVILEGES;");Java seemes doesn't support multiple sql statements in one call, just like PHP mysql_query(), is it?

    Then just extend the java.sql.Statement to your own Statement class and write logic which splits the given query at the right places and executes them one by one.
    That the mysql_query() already has it built-in wouldn't say that it isn't possible in Java. Comparing with PHP is a bit pointless, it is a completely different language.

  • SQL Server Analysis services 2008 ODBC support

    Hi,
    We are trying to use a data federation layer that provides ODBC access as a source for a SSAS cube.
    It looks like SSAS cannot access ODBC sources startign SSAS 2005 per documentation. Is there any solution to make this work. The data federation vendor doesnt provide OLE DB connectivity.
    Appreciate your help.

    Jerry,
    the link is bad - it leads to a non-existing website (as for today).
    I found ODBC .net provider  on softpedia, downloaded it, installed. However, in my case I don't see "OLEDB for ODBC"  or ".NET provider for ODBC" in the list of providers  in the window where the data source is created.
    So, I'd be very happy if anyone tells me how to make the connection to ODBC data source.

  • Trying to Perform an install of SCSM 2012 SP1 - SQL Analysis Services Not Installed

    I'm performing a clean install of System Center Service Manager 2012 on a Windows 2012 server.   The prerequisite checker told me the Analysis Objects were not installed.   I clicked the link and downloaded the SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis
    Management Objects.   I restarted the install and it still says it's not installed.  I also tried installing the 2012 version of the objects and still no luck.
    I also tried installing both the x86 and x64 versions of these tools.
    I have also tried the same install on a Windows 2008 R2 server and had the same error.  I'm convinced this is a bug in the setup.
    Has anyone else seen this?  Is it a known issue?

    Try to check the log file SCSMSetupWizardxy.log under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp
    perhaps it could not load Microsoft.AnalysisServices.dll assembly.

  • Does Hyperion Support Failover?

    Hi Experts
    I need some information on how Hyperion APS prevents failover of an existing Application/Database. I need to create a backup plan for AAS 9.3.1 and I have read online that "
    Hyperion System 9 Analytic High Availability Services enables the distribution of processing across multiple physical servers, thereby increasing application availability. Features include connection pooling, cube clustering, load balancing and *automatic failover*."
    Can someone please tell me where can I find more detailed information on failover process and how does this actually work.
    Thanks in advance.

    Their is virtually no information in the DBAG on this, and precious little anywhere else. In my mind, this is a placeholder for things to come more than anything real -- like marketing ran it in for a touchdown before the referees noticed the players weren't on the field.
    I'm sure they have a good example or two where it was successfully implemented -- but it's likely that there is an army of support people behind the initial effort and a slightly smaller army still supporting it.
    Based on the cost and methods, it is often easier to go with an external load balancing solution and have multiple "identical" servers deal with it. It's more of a "real" answer than the current support that is given natively. Yes, the SOA approach has made good strides to support it "in theory", but the configuration and licensing requirements just don't shore it up in a meaningful (or particularly useful) manner.
    Of course, System 11 may have made some headway here, but the evidence hasn't been well publisized if so, and I would think it would be heralded in with a lot of fanfare if they did. Why? Because it's one of the relatively few weak spots in the overall product.

  • Does Toplink support PL/SQL storedProcedure (cursor + join operation)

    Hi,
    Context:- There are two table with relation (Emp, Dept). I am getting data from both table by using Join opeation.
    I am working on Toplink storedProcedureCall and want to get PL/SQL Cursor + join operation
    for example:- select d.dname,e.ename,e.sal from emp e, dept d where e.deptno=d.deptno;
    it's working fine but, when I am dragging DataControl on Form it's only showing EMP attribute but, I need to both EMP,DEPT attribute so that I can display ADF readonly Table control.
    please, help me out. Thanking You.
    regards,
    sufi

    Hello Adilz,
    You seem to have posted a number of times trying to get cursors to work. Cursors do work, and in this case it looks like your stored proc is not working because the procedure you are calling does not accept any output variables - hence the error stating the wrong number of arguments.
    Try defining read_emp and ename in your stored procedure definition in the database.
    Best Regards,
    Chris
