Embedding Quicktime Movies in a webpage

Hi,
I have a lot of quicktime movies stored on a server.
I'd like to create a page on the fly somehow, so the movie is
embedded in the webpage.
Is there something similar to Verity that can do this?
Can anyone think how I could go about this?
Basically I want to setup my own youtube site.
Thanks in advance

Let us assume that you have a table with name and URL fields
in order to store your media file information.
You can get your query via CF from database and make an
output and generate your dynamic HTML page.
Such as
<cfoutput query="myMediaQuery">
<img src="#url#" alt="#name#" />
<br />
#name#
<br />
<br />
</cfoutput>
This is a simple example for image output. You just need to
use this kind of output for your media file.
I hope it is clear.

  • Embedded Quicktime movies

    If I want to embed several quicktime movies on a webpage but dont want it to slow the loading of the page, what is the code to stop the movie from auto loading? and is there a way to make the movie load by clicking on it. I have seen several webpages with several movies embedded and they all start to load at the same time, causing the page to take a long time to load. Hope this isnt to complicated a question. Thanxs for any response.

    The "trick" is a Poster movie. A small button or graphic that says something like "Play" or "Click to Play" that is linked to your actual href movie file.
    If you also use "target="quicktimeplayer" the file will open in QuickTime Player instead of a browser window.

  • Export embedded quicktime movies to html slideshow?

    I'm trying to make an html slideshow of a keynote presentation that has embedded quicktime movies. The movies just get saved as single png images. Is there a workaround or something obvious I am overlooking?
    Since iPhoto lets you do this, I would assume it isn't impossible, but perhaps it just isn't implemented within keynote (which seems kind of backward).

    Thanks. I was afraid that was the case, but a former apple VP suggested I ask since there are many apparently undocumented features (and iPhoto/iWeb can do this, so the api exists).
    The relevent html code is actually a java script that loads an array of exported png files. Each element of the array is defined like this:
    images[2] = "mrnahh.html_files/mrnahh.003.png";
    so I tried just telling it to load a mov file instead, but it wasn't so easily fooled. It might be easier for me to make a slideshow of the png files and mov files within iWeb (which really makes messy html and javascripts that are next to impossible to hack.)
    Anyway, many thanks. I'll leave this open for now in case someone else knows a simple secret.
    The HTML export feature is great, and produces nice clean simple interfaces and web code. I hate to abandon it.

  • Keynote does not support exporting with embedded Quicktime Movies

    I hope this helps a few of you out before you run into this problem.
    Keynote does not support export to Quicktime with any slides that contain a quicktime movie.
    Created a 27 page slide show with transitions, music, narrations and 6 Quicktime movies (Actually LiveType Text scrolls)
    When I attempted to export it never finishes the export cutting it short after about 20 pages.
    And the pages with the movies, don't start playing.
    It exports fine as a quicktime movie without the movies inserted though.
    Spoke with Apple Support and they confirmed that quicktime placed files within Keynote playback is only supported from the native Keynote Application.
    I read somewhere on this board that it was an issue with Quicktime version 7.5, not so as I tried the same test on a mac with Quicktime 7.42 and it had the same issue.
    So, beware.

    Maybe I didn't understand well what you said but it is possible to export a Keynote file with embedded Quicktime movies to a quicktime movie. Actually, I'm doing it and I works. BUT, the issue I get is that I can't get my embedded videos to loop. Grrr...

  • Black frame in embedded quicktime movies in Keynote when exporting to quicktime movie

    I've included some quicktime movies made in Photoshop in my Keynote presentation. When viewing the Keynote presentation from within keynote, the movie play perfectly. However when I export the presentation to a Quicktime move, the first or last frame of the embedded movie is black creating a flicker effect on play.
    The quicktime movies have been embedded as loopable animations using the animation build in function 'Start movie' (after transition with 0 delay).
    Is there a setting that will prevent the black frame on export or is this a bug?

  • Embedded Quicktime movies and DOM layering?

    Is there any way to overlay something on top of a quicktime movie in a web page without the quicktime movie showing through it?
    http://www.boozhowtooz.com/trailer
    I have a low res and high res version of a trailer where clicking the high res link overlays the movie in the a thickbox on the page. depending on the browser, the low res movie with show through the layer.
    I've been searching the web for a solution but the best one I've found is to remove the low res movie with javascript when the high res link is clicked. not exactly ideal but doable if that's the only thing that works.
    Is this a general problem with the quicktime plugin and dom layering?

    I'm sorry for saying that David, but you are not right in this point. You would have right if you say that every web page embedded object (flash, quicktime, activx, etc.) has a parameter (wmode, window mode) which is set to true by default. BUT if you are using flash object (flash video) you can set the wmode parameter - as far as I know there are no other embeddable objects which accept this parameter.
    And I think it's a bug, and not in browsers but (in this case) in Quicktime - I can't understand why Apple can't solve this problem. It's one key problem why most web developers (neither I) can't use QT on more complex web pages or in web applications. Easy examples:
    __ you can't drop a popup over a QT video (you can do it with a Flash video)
    __ you can't embed QT into fixed header/footer web pages with scrolling content (it overflows the header/footer
    __ you can't put any navigation over QT objects (imagine the situation: I'm working on an UI which has self slide-bar to navigate within a video, you can add/remove annotations, logs, messages etc. and not for just one video but for more synchronized ones > you I'll need a scroll-bar to display all of these, but if you scroll the videos 'under' the navigation hides the navigation...)
    So to conclude this short message: In my opinion this is a big problem with Quicktime, and I'm wondering why such a big company like Apple can't manage this problem (probably the web 'market' of QT is not big enough - in fact this is an issue why web developers don't like QT embeds...)
    Thanks.

  • Kiosk AND Poster in embedded Quicktime movies??

    In my embedded QT movies, I can get the Kiosk mode to work, and I can get the Poster Movie mode to work. But I can't get them to work at the same time with the same movie. I just changed from non-Poster mode to Poster mode, and the Kiosk setting no longer works. Has anyone had this happen to them?

  • Embedding Quicktime mov

    I have imported Quicktime video into flash with no problem.
    This time when the mov. is embedded I get weird little horz. lines

  • Code for Embedding Quicktime Movies in Web Pages-Question

    I have been embedding QT movies in web pages for years. I used to use the embed and object tags, but due to the problems with the default settings of IE7, in regards to ActiveX, I recently changed to the javascript method.
    I will paste sample code below, of how I use it, with the movie title change to sample: (of course I change the dimensions, depending on the movie size.)
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"><!--
    QT_WriteOBJECT('sample.mov', '644', '76','','controller','true','autoplay','true','showlogo','true','cache','false' ,'enablejavascript','true');
    // --></script>
    and I put at the top of the page, right before </head>
    <script src="AC_QuickTime.js" language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"></script>
    I forgot where I got this code. Perhaps from someone on this forum, or elsewhere. It seems to work with the default settings on most browsers.
    I have a couple questions, however, regarding fine-tuning it a little more.
    1) If it takes a while for the movie to load, users who open my pages see a static Q QT icon. How would one make the icon flash, with flashing text that says "Loading", so that the user knows that the video is loading? (I have seen that on other sites, and don't know how to do that.)
    2)As said the javascript works with most browser default settings, as most have javascript enabled by default. But what if a user does not have javascript enabled? Could the code sense that, and if non-existent, tell the user to enable javascript? Or, if javascript is disabled, could the embed and/or object tags be activated?
    3) The code above, that I got from someone, says "cache=false". That means that each time someone sees the movie, it has to be reloaded from the net, and not from the browser cache, correct? If so, why would one want it to be set that way? If it's a large movie, a user with a slower computer and/or internet connection would certainly prefer if it could play from the cache the next time, loading much faster. Is there any reason to prefer "cache=false"?
    4)Is there any code that could be put in, to allow the user, if they prefer, to download the file,(perhaps with a right-click or CTRL-Click), instead of playing it in the browser?
    Thank you very much in advance, to whomever can help with these code questions.

    Thank you for your reply, Kirk,
    1)Yes, I do have "fast start" enabled in my files, and they were made with QT Pro, newest version. So no, there is no "trouble with my files".
    However, I would still like to have that flashing "Loading" icon when the file is loading, as I see on other sites. (And yes, even with "Fast Start" enabled, depending on the size of the file, the speed of the computer and internet connection, it can take a little time beforeit starts.) Anyone know how to create that flashing "Loading" icon, rather than just the static Q?
    2)I just wondered if there was a way for the javascript to recognize if the user does not have javascript, and bring up a message if that is the case, telling the user they need to enable it to see the content. (As would happen if the user does not have the QT plugin installed.) Yes, I realize it would not work to include in the normal way the embed and object tags as well, I wondered if there was a way to invoke them only if the user doesn't have javascript. Perhaps impossible, but I thought I'd ask, in case someone knows of a way to do that.
    4)Yes, I guess I could just put a separate direct text link to the movie file for downloading. I just wondered if there was a way to put that in the javascript, so that if someone right-clicks on the QT icon, they can download rather than view it, rather than use a separate link. That may also be impossible, but I thought I'd ask, and see if there is a way to do that.
    Your question to me regarding dimensions--I forget which was the QT movie, that I took that sample from. Yes, I have some in unusual sizes. They are not normal movies. I don't have time to explain more now though, and that has no bearing on the questions I asked.
    Once again, thanks for replying, and if you or someone else could help further with my questions, I would appreciate it very much.
    Have a nice day!

  • Embedded QuickTime movie malfuncioning

    I'm using Keynote '08 (vers 4.04) under Tiger.
    One of the slides in my Keynote presentation is a short QuickTime clip with audio. Everything works perfectly when I play the Keynote presentation.
    However, after adding a narration to the presentation and exporting the presentation as a QuickTime file, the short clip malfunctions. The clip's audio starts, but the movie itself only starts rolling towards the end of the short clip.
    Any clues what could be causing this please?
    Thanks

    Mine is not a true test as I am using Keynote '09 with Mac OS X 10.5.8, but just did a test and the slide that had both a Quicktime movie and a narration did export but the movie did not start until everything that I said in the narration had finished. So when I was trying to talk over the movie, it did not export that way.
    One workaround for you would be to record the narration in Keynote and save, then right click the file in the Finder and Show Package Contents (if you don't see this option see below how to find the file) and look for the file called narrationTrack1.m4a and drag it to the desktop.
    Then go back to your Keynote file and Export, but uncheck the box that says to include the Recorded Audio. Then add the Quicktime movie to iMovie and then add the audio file to get the narration with it. Then export the whole thing from iMovie.
    Definitely not the ideal workaround, but hopefully it will work for you.
    If you don't have the option to Show Package Content, follow these steps
    Go to the Finder and find your Keynote file and make sure that it has the .key extension on it. If it doesn't, click it and command i to view info and uncheck the box that says Hide Extension.
    Delete the .key and change to .zip and then click the use .zip in the dialog box that comes up
    Double click the new .zip file and it will change it to a folder
    Open the folder and drag out the audio file
    Close the folder and add .key to the end of the name and click Add in the dialog box (this will change it back to a Keynote file)

  • Viewing embeded quicktime movies in the player?

    Is it possible to view a movie that's embeded on a webpage in the Quicktime Player instead, therefore allowing the viewer to watch the movie at a different size?

    Its the browser, not the web-page or file that decides how to handle files of any particular type. Safari does not allow the user to configure it to a great extent (and insists on using the QuickTime Plug-in even if it isn't installed...) but other browsers do.
    If you use Firefox ( http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ ) the first time you go directly to the url of any mov file, ( paste in the URL of this mov file for instance: http://images.apple.com/macbookpro/gallery/images/macbook48001122006.mov ) and a window will appear. ( see http://wings.buffalo.edu/computing/documentation/mac/Sorted%20Images/norton10/no rton10_01.jpg )
    If you then choose to "Save to Disk" and "Do this automatically for files like this one from now on" a Download action is created in Firefox's preferences.
    To view or change the Download action:
    Menu bar > Firefox > Preferences > Downloads > View & Edit Actions
    Select the "MOV" action.
    Click "Change Action"
    Select whatever you wish - save to disk, open with a plug-in (QuickTime Plug-in for instance), open with the default application or pick any application with which to open this type of file.
    Click "Ok"

  • Embedded Quicktime movies have a Quicktime logo all over blog

    I recently moved my website from Wordpress to Squarespace. Most has gone smoothly. I used to embed my movies in Wordpress with the 'Embed Quicktime' plugin. Squarespace doesn't have something similar so I was left to figure it out on my own.
    I exported a few sample movies from Quicktime 7. The resulting folder supplies the movie files and an html file with code to embed the movie in a folder. I ftp'd the resulting folders to the appropriate place. Then I injected the code Apple supplies into my <head>? section. I think injected the code Applie supplies for the movie in the post.
    It works...sort of. The movies are indeed embedded beautifully, but there is now a huge Quicktime Q at the beginning of all posts on the website. It is there whether there is a movie in the post or not.
    You can see the site at http://thesullivanadventure.com
    I can supply the code if necessary. Please help. Thanks in advance.

    I opened a ticket with Squarespace and they altered the 3rd line of code and it now works. Thanks to all those who looked.

    Incomplete answer:
    You want to "kiosk" that movie via Powerpoint?
    Have you tested the Powerpoint presentation with embedded movie on another machine aside from the one which originated it?
    If you can do it on the Mac - with Powerpoint looping it, it should be the same on Windows.
    +Disclaimer: I haven't done this in a long time, I do not use Powerpoint on a Mac, thus+
    +my info might be outdated.+
    I believe on windows, (in the past this was true)
    you need that asset file being linked to from Powerpoint, in a folder - on that Windows machine
    and that it may not be automatically packaged with the Powerpoint you are transferring.
    If you must do this via Powerpoint, check to see if the linked file made the trip to the player machine.
