Hi,
If I check in TOAD, then I see that the max size of the tablespace is unlimited. Btw, Tablespace XYZ is actually an index tablespace - dont know if this makes a difference. The max size of the data tablespace is also unlimited.
Using the query select * from user_ts_quotas or dba_ts_quotas, I dont see tablespace XYZ or its data tablespace in this result set. I'm not sure why.
Maybe giving the user unlimited quota on the tablespace might solve the problem - i dont know, but if it does, then I have to ask why has it worked all the time without this and only now it's giving an error??
The user has been doing the same thing everyday for the past couple of years and only now getting this error.

  • TimeMachine errors when backing up to XSan Volume

    Hi all,
I've been trying to solve this problem for a while. I have an apple xraid unit with a timemachine enabled afp share that I want to use for client backups over our network.
10.5 and 10.6 clients initially can configure timemachine preferences to use this share and the first backup image gets written. However, on subsequent backups a new sparse-image bundle is created with a numerically incremented filename. (i.e. client_backup.sparsebundle gets created then sometime later timemachine creates client_backup(01).sparsebundle).
Also, I've seen subsequent backup attempts simply fail with "Volume cannot be accessed (exit code 109)" errors. From the client console, I see these log messages:
Mounted network destination using URL: afp://[email protected]/TimeMachine
    com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.netauth.sysagent[1333]) Exited with exit code: 255
diskarbitrationd[13]: unable to repair /dev/disk2s2 (status code 0x00000008)
om.apple.backupd[1332]: Failed to mount disk image /Volumes/TimeMachine/client_backup.sparsebundle (DIHLDiskImageAttach returned: 109)
Has anyone seen similar behavior? I'm stumped as to why the first backup is apparently successful but subsequent backups fail. Thanks for reading.

I'm seeing the same problem over our network to an Xserve with an external RAID 5 volume.
The user that's having the problem had lots of errors when trying to back up due to funny files on his hard drive that were WAY down in the hierarchy of his drive... like 15 folders deep.
I'm going to try running Disk Warrior on his drive to see what's up. Maybe somethings broken...

    Hi,
did you get a resolution on this?
I get the very same error when trying my first backup to a new LG Blu Ray burner. I have Win 7 and PSE12.
The error happens in the first blu ray. When retrying I get the same error. Very annoying: spent 2 BD-R discs and half a day!

I get this error when trying to create and backup to the new Vault:

I can't find this file. Has anyone seen this error before? I feel naked without backups.

I'm getting a similar message approximately every second time I try to update the vault. I've rebooted the computer but still the same issue. Seems a bit of a problem if you can't trust it to backup to the vault, can you trust it to restore if needed?

  • Time Machine: Repeated errors when backing up for the first time using a new external firewire drive

My Iomega 500GB firewire external drive failed on me last week and I have just replaced it with an identical model. I used to use the old drive with Time Machine on my MacBook Pro running 10.5.8 with no issues, until the drive had a hardware failure and stopped spinning up, hence the replacement.
Two days ago I tried using Time Machine for the first time with the replacement external drive. The backup failed and each subsequent backup attempt has failed since then with a different error each time. The drive cannot be ejected using Finder (Finder says disk is in use and cannot be ejected even when no processes are running except for Finder and Time Machine has been disabled), by dragging it to the dock (hangs computer which can only be fixed by a hard reboot), in Disk Utilities (drive cannot be unmounted) or in Terminal ("no such file or directory").
The first backup attempt failed after 3 hours of "preparing" with the message "The backup was not performed because an error occured while creating backup directory".
I tried repairing the disk in Disk Utilities and Disk Utilities said the drive was OK ("the volume Time Machine Backups appears to be OK"). I tried ejecting the drive (hard reboot of computer and disconnecting the drive), plugging it back in again and trying again.
This time it started backing up, then failed after a few minutes with the message "an error occured while copying files to the backup volume". I had a look at the troubleshooting suggested on http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/C3.html and followed instructions. It failed again, so I did a full reset as per http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/A4.html.
It failed again, so I tried reparing the drive again in Disk Utilities and again it said it was OK. I tried using different cables and ports (Firewire 400 instead of Firewire 800), and backups still fail.
I have turned off anti-virus scanning (Sophos). I have tried excluding it from Spotlight but this causes an error message from Spotlight. I have tried trashing the com.apple.TimeMachine.plist file and rebooting. I have tried selecting deselecting the drive as the back up in Time Machine preferences, selecting "None", then "Stop Backing Up" then quitting preferences, rebooting, disconnecting the drive, reconnecting the drive and selecting the drive again as the backup disk in Time Machine preferences. I have tried erasing the drive completely, rebooting, and trying to back up again.
None of these have worked. This is a brand new drive and I do not want to have to replace it again if I do not have to.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

    Hello, some possible clues...
Should you click “Start New Backup”? Not yet! If you see the dialog above, your existing Time Machine backup is corrupt, and you might not be able to recover data from it. But you can save a copy of the corrupt bundle and, perhaps, extract some data from it if needed.
Ask yourself if Time Machine has saved data you might need before deciding what to do next:
If you are sure you won’t need anything backed up before today, click “Start New Backup” and let Time Machine do its thing.
Otherwise, click “Back Up Later” and save a copy before letting Time Machine start a new backup. Just look for a file called “computername.sparsebundle” (for network backups) or “Backups.backupdb” (for local ones) and create a copy with a different name. You can open sparsebundle files with DiskImageMounter and browse them like any other disk. More information is available here.
There you go. If you click “Start New Backup” when you see this dialog box, Time Machine will erase all of your old backup data and start a new bundle. It won’t be corrupt, but it will be empty.
Note that you can manually initiate a Time Machine backup integrity check by option-clicking the “Time Machine” icon in the menu bar and selecting “Verify Backups.”
    http://blog.fosketts.net/2010/08/11/time-machine-completed-verification-backups- improve-reliability-time-machine-create-backup/
According to This Time Machine resource   “This appears only on Snow Leopard, and started with the Time Capsule Backup Update 1.0 in mid-May of 2010.  It also seems to have been included in the 10.6.3 v1.1 update and 10.6.4.”
So, what can you do about it?  Grin and bear it, it seems, until Apple fixes it.
One thing you can do to make the backup take less time is to connect your machine to your Time Capsule or other backup drive via Ethernet for the duration of the initial backup.

  • Error when backing up databases: stops on "autotext data version"

    Hello all,
A new Bold owner here, having had an 8800 for a couple of years.  Like the Bold very much except for not being able to use BBSmart Alarm Pro any more, but that's a different subject...
When I attempt to backup the Bold, the Desktop Manager stops with "Error Backing Up Databases" when I am (apparebntly) partway through AutoText Data Version.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

jforce : in the desktop manager somewhere on the right you have the advanced options. There, you can do a backup one database at a time. Do that for all databases and eventually you will see the databases that have an issue.

  • Memory Cleaner causing error when backing up storm?

So I've recently started using the memory cleaner on my bb storm.  I think it's causing my bb storm not to be able to back up on the desktop mananger.  Has this happened to anyone else or is there a different program I should be using to clean out the memory?

So I restored w/ my last backup and then was able to backup my phone and save it w/ the current date.  I truely believe I get an "error unable to backup" because of the memory cleaner.  It does something so that I'm unable to backup my phone.
    Hi!
So you believe you get the error with Memory Cleaner active -- have you run controlled tests to validate this? And is the error gone if you run your test with Memory Cleaner inactive?
Memory Cleaner is belived by most to be not necessary. It is a resource and performance drag on the device for benefits that only fit people with very very high security requirements. Here is a KB that discusses what it does.

The most common misconception about Memory Cleaner is that it performs a defrag of the App Memory and clears out memory leaks and such, returning the BB to a good functioning state. This is incorrect. The best way to accomplish that remains the batt-pop reboot.
    Hope that helps!

  • Issues...rattling when back is tapped...voice control just turns on

Ok...its the first time ive used my iPhone 3GS without a case...just noticed that when i tap the back i get a little rattling noise, when i shake the it i dont hear anything. Also when i use the old iPhone earplugs sometimes the voice control just opens after a couple of taps and calls...
So for the rattling noise...is this normal?
For the voice control...is it baecase i use an old iPhone ear plug? I havent even used the new one that came with the GS...since i dont realy care about having volume control...
    Any comments?

I believe it is the autofocus lens you can hear as my 3GS also does that.
I am not sure about the voice control problem as I used the ones I got with my 3GS after I upgraded from my 2G and I really like the volume control on the earbuds.
Your best bet is to try the ones supplied with the 3GS and see if you can recreate the problem then you will know for sure.

  • Error when backing up HFM File

When making a copy of the HFM application every week we get an error message saying the journal tables can not be copied. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
