HELP! I NEED TO CONNECT WINDOWS VISTA AND MY MAC TO AIRPORT EXTREME !!!!!!!

*Im getting frustrated !*
Specs:
I just bought an airport extreme (802.11n)
Mac os X 10.5.4 & Windows Vista
I want to connect the airport wirelessly to my mac and some other wireless devices but also connect it through my D-link DSL-302G internet modem. So what i exactly want to do is airport via ethernet cable to DSL modem then DSL modem via USB to my windows vista PC.
Problem: There is only one ethernet plug on both DSL modem and airport extreme. On my windows vista i can't figure out how to use the internet using the USB cable.
By the way, my windows PC DOES not have a wireless card.
Since this also associates with windows --> So if you cant help me with the windows side of things, at least give me a link .. :D:D:D:D:D

Sounds like you've got an Airport Express, not an Airport Extreme!
The Extreme has 4 ethernet ports, and would do exactly what you want - not sure about the Express, as I've never used one.
Try posting a new thread, asking about sharing an internet connection using an Airport Express.

  • Connecting a hard-wired Windows Vista machine locks up my Airport Extreme N

    I just installed a new Airport Extreme 802.11n.
    I have 3 computers...
    1. Hard-wired Mac Pro
    2. Wifi connected Powerbook
    3. Windows Vista machine--works with Wifi, but I can't plug it in without locking up the modem
    I'm using DHCP with a comcast connection.
    Everything works great until I plug in the Windows Vista machine. This immediately locks up the router and prevents internet access on all hardwired machines (wifi still works). It disappears from the Airport Utility and needs to be unplugged and reset to reappear.
    Obviously this has something to do with the IP address assignment and DHCP.
    What settings need to be changed so that I can have both my Mac Pro and Windows Vista machine hard-wired?

    Hello LeeMI. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    Just to make sure, your network configuration, with the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), should look something like the following:
    Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > /[WAN port] AEBS /[LAN port] > (Ethernet cable) > /[Ethernet port] Main computer ... is this correct?

  • Help, I need my older PowerMac configured to work with my Airport Extreme

    So, I have a powerbook laptop that works perfectly with the Airport Extreme that I just bought. However, I also have an older desktop that technical support told me was decided obsolete(even though it runs on tiger,10.4.9!) and they refused to give assistance to configure it to the airport.
    My modem only has one ethernet port. Theoretically, you can use the extra port on the airport extreme to connect, via ethernet cable to the desktop(because it has no airport card.)
    Does anyone know how to configure my PowerMac G4(model 3,5 serial number xb1381c2ksd) so that when it has it's ethernet cable routing through the airport extreme to the modem, the internet will connect?
    Thank you

    Steph_D., Welcome to the discussion area!
    Configure the PowerMac G4 to use Ethernet and DHCP to get an IP address. That is all you need.

    Your expectations are not based in reality.
    Your G4 will not run iCloud. There will be no upgrade from Mobile Me to iCloud for you with that machine unless you do it manually, and only mail will work without further expenditure.

  • I have purchased a new computer with Windows 8.1 and the old computer had Windows Vista  and was very slow.   I need to uninstall Adobe Creative Suite 3 and put it on the new computer.  Is this possible and what do I need to do?

    I have purchased an new computer with the Windows 8.1 OS.  The old computer had Windows Vista and is just about to quit working altogether.  I wish to uninstall it on that computer and deactivate it; so that I may install the software that I purchased (some years ago, but hardly used) on my new computer.  Is that allowed and do I have the right idea about doing it?  I have the serial number
    and all that with the software.

  • I have windows vista  and can open itunes but cannot access store anymore it tries but stops like it's stuck no message comes up .I would be grateful of any help. thankyou

    I have windows vista and can access my itune downloads but when I try to access the store it thinks about it and then stops - the bar is stuck halfway across.  I get no message come up.  Desperate to access the store but am at a loss what to do. I am a novice on the computer so an idiot's guide for me would be welcome.  many thanks, regards Lesley

    I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

  • I have Windows Vista and need 64 bit update to upload new itunes version, where do I find this upload?

    Hello. I have Windows Vista, and get ERROR 7 (Windowns error 126) when I try to download the latest version of Itunes. This has never happened before for the Apple downloads. What does this error mean, and how do I get the 64 bit Microsoft upload?

  • TS1717 I have been running Itunes on windows vista and recently loaded Itunes on my Lap top which runs on Windows 7.  When I try to play my music the Lap top only play sample music.  Any suggestions?

    I have a desk top which has Windows Vista.  On this computer I have been running Itunes for a long time.  My new computer is a Lap top and it runs Windows 7.
    I recently loaded Itune on the new computer. I attemted to use Easy Transfer to transfer my Music but was unable to connected the two computers so I transferred my music to a external hard drive and loaded the music on the new computer.  I have the folders and files carefully and they appear to match.  When I try to run Itunes on the new computer I am unable to access the new music.  Itune always goes to the sample music.  The only difference I can come up with is Windows Vista and Windows 7.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
    Are you trying to use the Help -> Updates method?
    Both those patches need to be manually applied to PSE 9.

  • Networking Printers   Windows Vista and Mac

    I have my Mac connected to my home network(wired) and a HP 5550 printer connected to my Mac. I would like to print from my Vista PC to the HP via the network, but it keeps stating that I don't have sufficent permission when using Bonjour for windows. HELP.

    Hello SteveKid. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    Have PC with Windows Vista and Belkin N1 Router. Want to replace Belkin with Airport Extreme to use with both PC and MacBook Pro.
    Unless you have additional networking requirements or are having issues with your Belkin router, there is no reason to have to replace it with an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) just to support both Macs and PCs. Your MacBook Pro shouldn't have any difficulties connecting to routers provided by manufacturers other than Apple.
    Do I need to download special software for Windows or is this included on disk that comes with the Airport?
    Software (AirPort Utility) to administer the AEBSn from either a Mac or a PC is included with the installation disc that comes with the base station. The necessary software is already installed on the Mac, but if you intend to administer the AEBSn from the PC, you would need to install it on the PC from the disc or download it directly from Apple's Support site. The other software that comes on the disc is Bonjour for Windows. This allows for easier access to a printer attached to the AEBSn from PCs, but is not mandatory in order to print.
    Printer is HP Photosmart C6380 all-in-one ane purports to work wirelessly...so far wired to PC and unable to link to PC wirelessly. That's why Airport Extreme with USB for printer makes sense to me.
    Unfortunately, there is one caveat. The USB port on the AEBSn does not fully support the non-printing features (fax, copy, scan) of all-in-one printers ... just the print function. If these features are important to you, then you may want to look for wireless print server provided by another manufacturer that does support these additional features. I believe Linksys/Cisco still provide these.

  • Windows Vista and Winhelp

    Hi,
    Yesterday a client contacted us saying that our online help
    doesn't work with Windows Vista [
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607/en-us
    ]. For the moment, we don't support Windows Vista yet, but a
    developer and I have been working on a solution. I've converted the
    winhelp into a html help with Robohelp HTML X.05 and I seem to have
    the same problem as so many people. The Map IDs aren't linked
    anymore to the topics. The file I included in the project is
    helpresourceB.h and looks like this:
    #define IDD_EVASELECTION 91
    #define IDD_RUNSETUPDLG 92
    #define IDD_CHECKCONNECTIONS 93
    #define IDD_LICENSE 94
    #define IDD_CHANGESERVER 95
    #define IDD_EXECDLG 96
    #define IDD_CENTWAR 97
    #define IDD_LOGINDLG 98
    #define IDD_TELNETVIEW 99
    #define IDD_ABOUTBOX 100
    #define IDD_SYSOPTIONS 430
    #define IDD_CHANGEPASSW 449
    #define HCUS_CONTENTS 39999
    #define HCUS_LANDCODE 40000
    #define HCUS_CLIENTSOORT 40001
    #define HCUS_CLIENTCATEGORY 40002
    #define HCUS_NO_TOPIC 40003
    #define HCUS_CREDITEUR 40005
    Is there really no way to maintain the links while converting
    the project? I have almost 1200 map IDs I have to assign and it
    would be fantastic if I didn't have to do that manually.

    Since you are converting from WinHelp, there are some
    differences you need to be aware of. As Colum said - don't forget
    the alias file. What is an "alias file?" you may ask. In WinHelp
    'aliases' were used to asign a different map number to the same
    topic. In HTMLHelp, they are a totally different species.
    One of the design ideas of HTMLHelp was that the developer
    and help author would work independently on conrtext sensitive
    help. The .h file you have shown is supposed to be the developer's
    end. Note that it does not contain any references to your topics -
    just map numbers and somewhat cryptic IDs. The alias file is the
    help author's end and it links these IDs to your topic file names
    with the syntax IDD_EVASELECTION=YourTopicName.htm#bookmark. All of
    these live in an alias file (projectname.ali). These two files
    together comprise your context sensitive help.
    Hope this helps,
    John
