Import Server fails to import if repository has password
Hi,
I am using MDM SP05 Patch2 on Windows Server.
I added a login password to my repository. Now what happens is the import server fails to import files for that repository giving the error :
"<i>[MDS=MDM Repos=Repo]: CatMgrClientWorker.Connect() failed. RC: 0xffaa0200 Invalid logon credentials</i>"
After changing the password, i restarted MDM Server and Import Server both.
But if i remove the password from my repository, the import runs successfully.
Someone pls suggest.
Regards,
Chintan
Hi Danish,
The process of changing the password in .ini files works till MDM 5.5 version.
From MDM 7.1 version, the password Must be Changed only at the Auxilliary level. Changing it in the .ini file directly will have no effect.
In MDM 7.1, configuration of some repository-specific MDIS/MDSS parameters moved from the repository sections of mdis.ini/mdss.ini to a new MDIS/MDSS-specific Repository Detail pane in MDM Console.
When you connect to the Auxilliary servers, you fill find both the configurations for MDIS and MDSS:
User: The user name MDSS uses to access the MDM repository.
Password: The password MDSS uses to access the MDM repository.
Use the same password that you have assigned to Admin in the Console.
You can refer to the Console Reference guide : page number 263.
If you have already done this, can you please check the log file and let us know if you find anything.
Thanks,
Priti

ODC - Import Server Failing "not properly indexed"
I've install ODC 10.1351.1 along with import server, trying to import files from a folder.
Under "Batch Job Settings", "Folder/File List Provider", I'm selecting the "Import from folder" option. I am NOT creating a list file. I've provided a file cabinet as part of the setup, and I'm trying to use Commit Server to do the commits.
When I execute the job in Import Server, my test tif file gets renamed as expected, but my batch does not get committed. In the logs, I see the following error:
Event: 1223
***Warning*** Batch OCCIT0913113350855 was not committed because it was not properly indexed.
I do see the batch job if I go to the Commit Server UI and look at the batch list. I could review the items in Commit Server. However, I'm looking to just simply load the folder and auto-commit the items. Am I off base, or do I need more setup? The documentation is not terribly clear here.
Thanks for any insight,
WilliamYou are missing an indexing step, which can't be done automatically without the Recognition server (or manual indexing). ODC manual explains briefly on the 34th page:
Import Server, which imports images and other electronic documents directly into Capture from sources such as email, FTP sites, network folders, list files, and fax providers. As images and electronic documents are imported, they are converted into Capture batches where they can be indexed using Index or Recognition Server and then committed.
I use import server only for importing network folder scans and assigning them to the appropriate batch for manual indexing, so can't give you an elaborated advice.

Import-CMDriver fails with "Import-CMDriver : Invalid object path "
I am attempting to use Import-CMDriver but it fails with:
"Import-CMDriver : Invalid object path "
I can see that it is adding the driver to the catalog, but it is failing to add it to the package and I can't figure out why. I have tried with different inf files and deleted and created different packages. It just doesn't work. Here is
the command that I am running. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
Set-Location abc:
foreach($iniFile in $infFilesToDeploy){
$cmDrivePackage = Get-CMDriverPackage -Name "PackageName"
$cmDriverCat = Get-CMCategory -CategoryType "DriverCategories" -Name "PackageName"
$cmDrivePackage
$iniFile
Import-CMDriver -UncFileLocation $iniFile -ImportDuplicateDriverOption AppendCategory -AdministrativeCategory $cmDriverCat -EnableAndAllowInstall $True -DriverPackage $cmDrivePackage -UpdateDistributionPointsforDriverPackage $false
As I said, it is seeing the ini file since it it importing it into the catalog. It just won't add it to the package. It also leaves the package in a locked state if I try to modify it after I run this command.
Anyone have any ideas why this command doesn't function?
Thank you for your time.Hi,
What's the version of your SCCM? I ran this command "Import-CMDriver -UncFileLocation... " on my SCCM 2012 R2 CU1. I didn't get the error above.
I also tried the command below, it ran successful.
$d=Get-CMDriverPackage -Id "..."
Import-CMDriver -UncFileLocation "\\..." -DriverPackage $d -EnableAndAllowInstall $true

File won't import - "Aperture failed to import the image listed below"
Hi:
I have a folder of D200 NEFs and 117 of 119 import OK, but two give an error. I repeated the import attempt on one of the failed images and still get the subject error message (in a "Import Results/Import Images Completed with Errors" status box).
But these two images both open OK in PS CS3.
Any ideas what the issue could be?
(If anyone wants to try it, grab the the NEF file here: http://www.emmachisholm.com/files/07125575Colin_20071219T112008A5575.NEF )
Regards, Colin.Your downloaded file opened fine for me. Aperture 2.1.1, OS 10.4.11, Mac Pro with 8 GB RAM. I did reduce the long file name size before processing it.

Import Server not picking up the file
Hello,
I have 2 repositories running on the same server. Import server picks up file for one repository, but not for the other. What could be the reason? Also, for the repository, import server not picking up the file, workflow also does not send an email notification.
Please help
SubhashHi Subhash,
Hope you are not using the same Import Server for both the MDM Servers. If yes then you need to mention the MDM Sevrer name in the MDM Server parameter of MDIS.ini. Check the parameter list of MDIS.ini file.
If your repository has password for Admin user then you need to specify the same in MDIS.ini file under your repository section for User = Admin and Passowrd = [Admin password]. Remove the E from the PAsswordE and give the password for Admin user. Once done restart the Import Server and check again, parameter Password would have converted to PasswordE.
For Email Notification two things you need to check:
1. You should have specified the mail server address in MDS.ini file under your repository section for parameter Mail Server.
2. Workflow owner should have entry in Email address field of the user. Check this in Console under Admin -> Users.

ashutoshI don't know if this will be much help, maybe if you could point me to the JDI Cookbook you're using...
Based on the stack trace that you've included, it seems that your client is trying to connect to the DTR and an error is occuring in the operation that the DTR is trying to perform for you.
It's hard for me to assess the full situation without more details, but hopefully that should narrow it down a little bit for you.

Difference bet. Import manager and Import Server
Hi
Can anybody tell me what is the difference between a Import Server and a Import Manager? And How data is imported using these two?
Thanks in advanceHeii,
In MDIS :
MDIS can be installed on any machine on a network. It works with the MDM Server to import data automatically into existing MDM repositories. If MDIS and its associated MDM Server are installed on the same machine, no further customization needs to be done. If the MDM Server is located on a separate machine from MDIS, you will need to edit the MDIS settings file, mdis.ini (for more information, see MDIS Configuration).
Before you begin using MDIS, you need to be sure that both MDIS and the MDM Server are running and that the target MDM repository is loaded and running. Directions for starting MDIS are located in this section. Directions for starting the MDM Server and loading a repository can be found in the MDM Console Reference Guide
In case of Import Manger :
The MDM Import Manager is a GUI cockpit that defines a very specific sequence of steps to prepare source data for import. But rather than perform the import a record at a time as with other import tools, the MDM Import Manager offers a comprehensive set of data transformation capabilities that allow you to pre-process the source data a field at a time prior to import.
Moreover, for each field, the MDM Import Manager collapses the set of all values across the entire set of source records down to the set of distinct values, whose number will usually be dramatically smaller than the total number of records, often by several orders of magnitude.
Field-at-a-time rather than record-at-a-time processing and the distinct value lists of the MDM Import Manager are together the lynchpin of its patent-pending Parametric Import technology, which supports the import of electronic source data from any tabular or XML format.
Hope this might help to remove your confusion between Import Manager and MDIS.
Plese reward If you find this useful.

ODC Import Server - Working with emailed read only files
When running the ODC import server as a service or as an application we sometimes get users that send us emails with "read only" attachements. ODC will get stuck on these emails becasue excel will prompt to open the read only file.
Is there a way we can easily get around this problem? Is there an ODC setting or an Excel setting that I can use to always open all excel documents?

Have been trying to publish a 44 picture album to MobileMe Gallery all morning using Aperture 3, and I consistently get a "Request to the server failed" message. I transferred the pictures to iPhoto 9, and the album published with no problem.
Does anyone have an answer for this, or is anyone else experiencing the same thing? It isn't duplicate names that is causing the issue for me. Earlier I had successfully uploaded several mobileme galleries under Aperture 3, but for the past 2 days have gotten persistent "request to the server failed" messages. (wonder if it has anything to do with the most recent Aperture update that fixes an HD video problem?) The sync with mobileme appears to be working, shows the clock rotating, and takes quite a bit of time, but at the end I get the "request to the server failed" message.
I have checked all my file names and *none are duplicates*. I have unstacked any stacks with new versions (which should in any case be named differently from the original and should have a "version 2" as part of the name). I have tried the upload with version name as the photo title, and also with the caption as the version title. Nothing works. The fact that files from the same camera worked earlier this month, with the versions and the stacks arranged similarly to what I'm trying to upload now points to the new update as having broken something. When I check mobileme, the new gallery appears as a generic gallery with no files in it.
What now? -
can't check my mail on the phone. Connection to server failed.Need to make sure correct password is there. I've changed passwords??????

Import Error: Connecting to Dynamic Link Server Failed
Just tried to import file sinto a brand new LR Catalog when I got this message...here's the entire error message:
"An unknown error has occurred while reading the video file. Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed. (98)"
Connecting to Dynamic Link Server Failed
this was then followed by a list of files of these types:
.mov
.m4v
.3gpI've read several threads about this problem (because I had it myself) and what worked was closing Lightroom, uninstalling Quicktime, restart Lightroom, ignore the "you have to have quicktime" message, and import the videos. Then I reinstalled Quicktime.
But, I think the problem isn't quicktime itself; I think it's something to do with iTunes. During Quicktime uninstallation, it said that iTunes was open. I disagreed, but Task Manager showed the process still running. I had to kill it manually to complete the uninstall.
So, just a thought, maybe check to be sure iTunes isn't running before trying the Lightroom import? One never knows.... -
OracleVM-Server-3.1.1-build365.ovf fails to import
I am having no luck importing OracleVM-Server-3.1.1-build365.ovf in to Virtual Box 4.26 r82870 running on Mac Pro with Mountain Lion 10.8.2.

1. Navigate to OracleVM-Server-3.1.1-build365.ovf in Finder
2. Double Click which then opens VirtualBox Manager
3. A box saying reading appliance is open which is busy for some seconds but then the following error is given:

I have tried multiple downloads of the same file however all efforts end with the above error.
Please can some one help ? I am able to open other VBOX VM's from Oracle.
md5 check has been done and sum is fine.Hi, I'm afraid there is not a fix but perhaps an alternative option.
Apple believe that Lion is too old to be worth supporting so they can't be bothered and provide comical advice: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5279
Fortunately there is still a way to manage clients from Jaguar to Mavericks which is a little more reliable in a local network, the ancient and trusted Workgroup Manager: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1698 , you can apply settings over a VPN client also if the remote Mac is bound to your directory.
Not the best solution but seems to be the only one which works, I'd hate to rely on OS X Server in a medium to large business environment. -
Importing changlist failed: unknown error has occured
Hello,
while importing a changelist from mas-test to mas-prod-system I get
error in transport service:
Importing changelist failed: unknwon error has occured, trying to reconnect.
I reinstalled the service, connections are ok, but this didn't solve the probelm.
What I have seen is that in the tile set 'imported changelist to be released'
my released changelist is about 25 times there - I think that is not normal.
Does anybody know where the problem could be ?
Thanks GerdHi Gerd,
I don't know how to solve that particular issue but as a workaround I suggest to manually export and import the CL.
In 4.0 use these commands:
1. Export
Transport.exe /DBDars_db /DBUarsadmin /DBP /EXPexport /DIR"C:\temp" /CIDXX43748642B841409C5F03XXXXXXXXXX
where:
/DBD = Dsn of DB
/DBU = Administrator user(ARSAdmin)
/DBP = Password
/EXP = Operation(either export or import)
/DIR = Path to save the files to(during export) as well as path from where to pick up the CLs from(during import)
/CID = ChangelistID to be exported/imported
2. Import
Transport.exe /DBDars_db /DBUarsadmin /DBP /EXPimport /DIR"C:\temp" /CIDXX43748642B841409C5F03CXXXXXXXXX
If you are on .net use the Import / Export Manager. If you need that tool please contact me directly.

Import Wizard fails to export - object could not be written in the ids-file
Hello,
the complete export of the BO environment into a biar-file with the import wizard fails. In the wizard's dialog every option is choosen as "all". When the export is started it stops already in the folder objects. The log file says the object allocation could not be written in the ids-file. So I presume a problem with references.
In order to figure out which object is responsible for the error I varied the export and finally identified the "repository objects" as the the responsible type of objects. When I now run the export and only use the needed repository objects it works fine.
But I don't know, if export is complete (I presume it).
Has anyone a idea what the reason can be for this problem? Can it be fixed in the database? This kind of export did work fine the week before.
thanks, matthiasCould you quote the entire error message, word-for-word, verbatim? What Import settings are you using ... Copy, Move, Add?
Most likely you have a permissions issue, but it will be much more clear to me if I can see the entire message.
