In my continuing efforts to get a simulation of a working system I updated to LR 2.1 and carried out various suggested methods of updating Photoshop CS3 to properly reflect the effects of the 10.0.1 upgrade.
In case it helps development the situation now on my Win XP SP3 is that:
If I open LR before PS CS3, then CS3 reports Sripting Support version 10.0 and the LR "Open in CS3" does not work properly in the way reported before by many people.
If I Open PS CS3 and then open LR, then CS3 reports Scripting Support Verson 10.0.1 and LR "Open in CS3" does work correctly.

Several choices
Download the free Adobe DNG Converter version 8.5 and convert your RAWs to DNG and import those into Lightroom
Use the software that came with the camera to convert the RAWs into TIF and import those into Lightroom
Purchase the upgrade to Lightroom 5 -

iOS 4.2.1 suggests that you may have 2nd generation Touch, which cannot be updated past iOS 4.2.1
Check http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 for help in identifying your model. A quicker method may be to check the back casing. If your iPod has Model No.A 1288 etched into it, then it's a 2nd gen Touch.
Assuming that you are using the latest version of iTunes (today, that is 10.6.3), to check if your iPod can be updated, connect it to your iTunes and look on the Device/Summary pane. Select Check for Updates. If there is one, you will see a message telling you that and how to install it. However, if you see a message saying that your iPod is up-to-date, then it cannot be updated. -
I cannot get .arw or jpeg files from my Sony A6000 to be taken into my Lightroom 4.4 via the normal "synchronise" process. I have updated my Pc to Adobe RAW/DNG 8.4 with no improvement. Can you help please?
With regards to your .arw files:
You need to either purchase and install Lightroom 5.4 -- OR -- download and install and use the FREE Adobe DNG Converter version 8.4, did you actually launch and use the DNG Converter?
There should be no problem importing JPG files into Lightroom from your camera, what happens when you try? Is there an error message? -
I am in the midst of setting up my new iPad Air, and the process seems to be stuck on "Updating iCloud settings..." What is a reasonable time for this step to take?
Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to a minute. If it's stuck, you might want to give Apple support a call to see if they are experiencing unreported server issues. Since your device is new, you are within the 90-day free call support period. You can set up the call here: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/. You will need your serial number, which is on the box and (I believe) the back of your iPad.

I'm running Windows 7 and iTunes (and the other Apple programs) wouldn't automatically update. Went through all the options and finally had to delete all Apple files and re-download iTunes. Worked fine, until the next update. Is there a glitch in the system? Does someone know of some proprietory block (I think it is related to Quicktime)? Also, once I re-downloaded everything, cleaned everything up, and deleted duplicate files, I closed down my computer. When I re-started it, iTunes was "brand new" -- all of my music, organization, tagging, etc. was gone and had to start over. Idea?
Ok, so after like 4 days of going through all these different issues, I figured out that several programs weren't downloading, and it was an issue with my wireless connectivity messing up the digital signatures, so if you plug in your comp to the modem and delete your temp files, it should start to work!

If its manually running then you can select your process chain, and then right click on the start process --> Maintain variant --> Scheduling --> in the scheduler screen , you can click on the Immediate, save the changes and save in the next screen, once it comes back in the main screen, you have a scheduling Icon (Clock idoc). Click on it. Once done then it will be oK.
Or firs the process only failed, then you can right click on the failed process and then choose "Repeat" option to repeat the process.
Also you can check the source system connection is fine or not? RSa1 --> Source system --> CHECK

Can anyone identify the extension MaggniPeica 1.5? It appeared in my extension list, and the only accompanying info is that it updated today. I have it disable for the moment. I am sure it is probably nothing worrisome, but I do not recognize it, and a Google search turned up nothing except some “almost matches” written in Spanish. Unless those pages were asking about a red jacket, a telephone, and if I knew what day it is; my limited Spanish is useless. Thank you for humoring me.

One thing I failed to mention, I had issues last night, uploading images to both outlook (Siverlight kept crashing) and facebook. Thank you for responding in such a timely manner.

Defective t440s and the worst customer support I've ever received
2 months ago I purchased a t440s that arrived defective. Notably, the screen was the upgraded FHD IPS panel. My unit came with the LG model, which is notorious for being defective. The screen had bad viewing angles (its main selling point...), about 1.5 inches of light bleed along the bottom, and significant yellow tinting outside of a medium-sized circle in the middle of the screen. Additionally, the trackpad was too far left in its housing and would ocassionally *get stuck beneath the case* and ALWAYS scrape against it.
After waiting 3 weeks for my laptop to arrive, I requested a repair after owning it for 2 days and sent in my laptop-- at the end of September. I didn't receive any updates on the status of my repair until several days ago. I was unable to answer the call and the voicemail Lenovo left only said that my repair was pending. After attempting to contact support myself and being placed on hold for absurd lengths of time, I gave up.
Earlier today I received another call. The rep told me that my laptop wouldn't be able to BEGIN being repaired until November 24th, at the very least. This is due to a backorder on replacement screens. I'm assuming that's because they're having to replace more than just a few.
The rep offered to have my laptop swapped with a new unit, yet I'll have to speak with another person who won't be calling me until "sometime next week" to actually have this done.
The girl I spoke with to initially request my repair was very kind and knowledgeable. Everything following that has been unacceptable at best.
I purchased from Lenovo after being told by numerous peers that their quality was legendary across the board. I don't think I'll ever purchase another Lenovo product in my life and I will definitely try to dissuade anyone from making the same mistake I did.

Now my player has sadly broken again...ugh...twice in a year...which is making me consider just buying something else, I know all mp3 players are reportedly like this, but its just not right... ...and I'm pretty sure Creative just have a big warehouse of faulty Zen's which they put all the faulty ones in when they get returned, and then they just pick up another one and send it out to you. I also find it ridiculous that there is no telephone support for everyone...which would solve alot of problems... I sent Customer Support an e-mail, so when should I hear back? My wi-fi connection from my iPad via the Airport Express Base Station on my home computer worked just fine until yesterday morning. I have a Macintosh G5 with a satellite connection. I could not get an Internet connection. After using the Network Preferences and Aiport Express applications several times, then unplugging and replugging in the computer, satellite modem and Airport Express module, checking the satellite dish for any obstructions, and so on, the computer still wouldn't connect to the Internet. (The green light was on in the Airport Express module.) I called the satellite company technical support division last night. The tech couldn't find any problem with the satellite connection. When I plugged the satellite modem cord directly into the Ethernet outlet on my computer, I could pick up the Internet.
Today, the Airport Express module still has a green light but still doesn't connect to the Internet. The only thing I can think of is that lights went out for about 15 minutes yesterday morning. All of my electronics, except the Aiport Express Base Station, are on surge protectors. Why would the Airport Express module still have a green light if it was damaged by the electrical outage?
I bought the module in 2009. I have never had problems with Apple equipment before this. Is this base station fixable?

I have a G5 iMac, a G5 mini-mac, and a G4 laptop. They were all working fine but all have mostly the same problem now in that the G4 does not connect at all and the G5s connect once in a while after restarts but do not maintain the connection. In my case there was no power interruption. In fact, the G4 laptop was not even connected to the home power connection. My iPad2 and iPhone 4s wireless work fine and a wireless PC and Android tablet work fine as well. The G5 and G4 work fine on an ethernet connection. ISP tech support (AT&T u-Verse) was very generous with their time in trying to solve my problem although it was established early on that their connection and equipment was working fine and that the problem was with my computers. They walked me through a manual reset of all the particulars on IP addresses etc. so the problem was not related to that either. In the end ISP tech support concluded that the problem must lie with the Airport driver. For some reason it changes the IP addresses to an incorrect address so it cannot connect. Indeed when I tried the diagnostics on the G4 I got a window Pop-up that said an application had reset my settings. (In retrospect I seem to recall that I may have gotten that same message early on with the G5s but at that time I did not think much about it and went about trying to reset the settings but that process never concluded well) I think that the problem may be that there must have been an update of the Airport software that was not backward compatible with the G5 and older Macs. I mention all this for two reasons. First, perhaps someone out there who knows better than I do how to bring this to Apple's attention and perhaps they will address this. Second, I would be curious to know whether there is anyway one can return a configuration on Macs to some earlier time period (as you can on PCs) when everything worked and then leave it that way foregoing any subseqent upgrades or any subsequent apps?

Creating a new OU and the login scripts don't work

We are running DSfW for almost a year and we never had to make a new OU but that time has come.
When I make a new OU (with iManager or AD tools) the outcome is the same: The login scripts I make for the new OU will not execute within iManager.
If I make a new (test)user of move an existing user (with or without a GW account) the login script is not executed.
If I place a login script directly on the user it works.
I've patched everything and is up-to-date.
What is different on exisiting OU's and new OU's is that it's missing two attributes:
ACL 2#entry#ou=...#loginScript
ACL 2#entry#ou=...#printJobConfiguration
Maybe this has nothing to do with it but the first one I was thinking maybe this is the problem.Originally Posted by preemeyer

Can you please give the details of how you are specifying the login script. Is it using a GPO?

Can you check if the container is samified, and samify it if it is not.
domaincntrl --samify
May not work, but can be tried. -
Why is the "Lightroom Help"(F1) and the "Map Module" Offline?
I ask because everything requiring Internet connection thru Lightroom appears fine, such as the Web Module! There is nothing wrong with my Home Network nor any usage of the Internet, except when it comes to the Map Module and contacting "Lightroom Help"(F1) from the HELP Menu within Lightroom! I have been using Lightroom for a couple of years without encountering this issue and am baffled as to how to address solving it. Any input would be appreciated!
This is a well-known issue with Lightroom. Lots of adjustment brush usage on a particular photo will cause high CPU usage.
If you need to do a lot of brushing, you may be better off doing these tasks in Photoshop.
By the way, I have no idea what SSBOD means, I have never seen that acronym before. -
IPhone number formatting for Ireland and the UK now supported!
I was pretty impressed to discover that the iPhone 2.2 update now supports telephone number formatting in Ireland and the UK.
So, for example an Irish mobile number will be displayed as (086) XXX XXXX instead of just 086XXXXXXX. Seems to work flawlessly for any number I've tried, including special rate like freephone 1 800 etc.
The same is now also true for the UK, it displays the numbers correctly formatted now too!

Does the 4th Gen iPod touch and the iPads really support 802.11n?
Ok so I see on the boxes of my iPad and my iPod touch 4 say that they support 802.11n wifi connections. The iPad even supports 5Ghz 802.11n. However when I change the settings on my network to '802.11n only', only my MacBook Pro can connect to the network.
Config Details:
802.11 Band - 2.4Ghz
802.11n Mode - Auto
Bandwith - 20Mhz
Security - WPA2-PSK [AES]
What's really going on?? I also see that all the devices are in 'g mode' and only my computer is in 'n mode' based on the router settings.I do use it a lot for games...they tend to be larger files. My songs are whatever my dad buys and whatever I buy. Once I import this big batch of songs I will be at 700 songs and then will only add more when Dad or I buy them. I make a lot of money for a high schooler but my mom doesn't like how much I spend on iTunes (she's not into music the way I am). I don't want to have to pick and choose on which apps I have on my iPod. Songs, I can pick and choose if necessary. I just hate running low on available space.

Does MediaSource and the zen xtra support secure WMA fil
I bought a CD that uses some encryption utilities from a company called sunncomm (real blockheads @ that company, from the tech support to the VP by the way) It would seem that I'm able to download the "digital keys" from their web site however I get the message "license required" when I try to copy the songs to my zen extra using mediasource.
Anyone ever had experience with this?
....and for the record I would not recommend buying any CD's that are using this company's (sunncomm)system, or anything from RCA records. In their effort to thwart illegal distribution the two have decided to punish those of us who legally purchase their products and simply want to listen to it in our preferred format and on our preferred players. I really don't listen to anything on CD anymore, as my CD's just get loaded onto my player, in fact I'd taken the CD player out of my car all together and the zen is the only thing that gets played there. Without the ability to transfer the songs from CD to my player what I wind up with is a fifteen dollar coasterThe CD is Contraband from Velvet Revolver. It's released on the RCA label under BMG music. The name of the company that delevloped and runs the protection software is SunnComm. I'm working on a list of other titles and artists that have this installed on their releases well. CL product users may find that useful as a list of titles to avoid.
The thing that is really bothersome is that nowhere on the CD did it indicate this protection was there when I bought it. Only when I popped it into my PC did it become evident. This as it turns out would have been a bit different if I owned an ipod, as since ipod has it's issues with WMA files to begin with they don't even pretend to support anything related to ipod. While that's a move that I'm sure CL thinks is just fine, it's seems like a bit of a bonehead move for the record company. What really irks me about sunn comm it they are quite frankly lying about what their product does, it does NOT allow someone who has legally bought a music release to listen to that release on a digital player like they it does ... which as a consumer is a right I expect to have when I purchase music in any format. I've spoke with several people at sunn comm and they are of no help and obviously do not care about any issues a consumer has with their product. I'm also in contact with RCA and BMG about this mistake they are making in not properly informing consumers about what their product actually is. I'm not a music pirate, I bought their release intending it only for my own personal use, but they have turned the simple act of buying music in to a week long Odyssey and headache. No one at Sunn Comm or BMG seems to understand that which does not bode well for for either company or industry.
