New Ipod and new computer-how to transfer
I just got the new ipod video and had the 20gb. I now have a new computer and new ipod. How do I transfer my songs to my new ipod and computer?
any help would be appreciated.
D
If you transfer your library from the PC to the Mac, and then plug in your new ipod to the new Mac, a question will pop up asking you whether you want this computer's library to be transferred to the iPod. Click Yes, and it will start synching with whatever is in the library.
You can also use some programs, like "Senuti" (for mac, freeware) to rip off the contents FROM your iPod TO your new Mac. I personally like Senuti since it has an iTunes-like interface except in reverse.

I have copied all of my CD's, probably over 100, on to my iMac, through iTunes and now am considering buying a new iMac. Would like to be able to transfer what's in my music library w/o having to recopy all of the CD's. Any thoughts? Can I do it throught the iCloud or do I need to buy and external storage device?
Thanks BrendaWhen you buy your new iMac you will be able to have the installation process transfer all your applications, data (including music, pictures, documents, etc) and settings to your new computer. In the past that was done via Firewire. I'm not entirely sure of the process with the new iMacs that don't have firewire. I think it can be done via ethernet and probably via tha thunderbolt cord using a firewire adapter but you'll want to check that out.
With the your new computer properly connected to your old computer, the initial booting of the new computer will include the ability to move everything over.
If for some reason you don't want to do that (smart if you have some horrible software issue that is causing problems) you can connect your old computer to the new one and start it in Target Disk mode where it will be seen as a hard drive. You can then manually copy over all your music and import that into iTunes (and any other data you want).
Somebody here will surely point you to directions for connecting an older iMac with no Thunderbolt to a newer iMac with no Firewire. -

New ipod and new computer, how do I get my songs back?
I recently moved. In my move, my ipod shuffle was damaged, but is now replaced(thankyou warranty). But I also have a new computer. I've logged in and my account appears, but where have all my purchased itunes gone? How do I get them back? I really don't want to buy all those songs again.
Restore them from the old computer, or click here and fill out the form, or purchase them again. It is the responsibility of purchasers to make backups, and Apple rarely allows people to freely redownload purchases other than applications because Apple pays a royalty on other types of content.

I have an apple i tunes account and now I want to set my daughters i pod on my account as well, but the account only seems to recognise one ipod when i want it to recognise 3
There is no limit to the number of iPods you can sync with one computer, iTunes library, or account. See this article for different ways of managing multiple iPods.

Are you saying that iTunes does not recognize the other 2 iPods?

"Other" in a new ipod (and new library)
Saw other discussions about the "Other" yellow in the ipod capacity bar, but this one seems to be different.
Had this issue with a 120gb ipod classic (would not sync, sayingn it is 5-6 gb over capacity).
(1) restoring ipod didn't solve it.
(2) I moved all the mp3s and video to a new location, new library was created - AND I bought a new [in a sealed box] ipod (160gb) - and the same issue remains: it cannot sync 110gb library saying it is 4gb over, and the yellow "Other" has grown to 36 (thirty-six) gb.
What could that be and how to solve it?
Note: In the library, there are only mps/m4a and mp4/m4vAnd every time, such incomplete syncing ends by itunes suddenly closing - it does not hang, but just dissapears from the screen.

I have an iPod nano 2nd generation and I want to download the songs I have on it to my new computer, as my old one crashed with all the songs on it. I also got a new iPod and would like to transfer the old songs onto it. How do I do this?
Ok so sorry for clogging the community!! I figured it out - you have to copy your videos into itunes manually. I did that, synched and all good!

My mom has an iPod 2nd gen. I have been using it this whole time until Christmas. I got an iPod 5th gen. We listen to the same type of music and hers is on iTunes on the computer. I want to have my own iPod (set up as new) not set up with her account. But I do not want to re-buy all of the music that is already on her iPod. Is there a way that I can transfer all of her music from iTunes on the computer to my iPod (using the computer). If so, then how? and if not, is there another way that is possible other than logging my iPod in with her account?
Copy the music for the old iPod to his computer by:

Then sync the new iPod to that computer. -

I have and ipod and itunes account, how do I add my daughter's new sony mp3 player so we can purchase music?
Home sharing only allows you to stream content from a computer's iTunes to an iOS device or another computer (and to copy from the computer to another computer), you can't use it to copy items to an iOS device.
If the apps are still in your country's store then you should be able to redownload them on your iPad via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on it, and for music (if you are in a country where music purchases can be redownloaded and they are still in the store) then you can redownload them via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your iPad. Or you can copy them from your iPod to your computer's iTunes library by connecting it and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option and then sync them to your iPad. -
I have a new ipod and added all my apps to it. When I sign in to Words with Friends it says that "user name is already in use" because it is linked to my old ipod. How can I use the same user name with my new ipod?
Was the iPod setup via iTunes on this computer?
Setup via wifi?

To have EVERYTHING on your New computer...
From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
Full Details Here > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.
