when the code reaches the line: oReportClientDocument.open(reportName, 0)
I am using Eclipse as SDK and Tomcat as Webserver.

  • Run SBO report directly from SDK

    Hi, is there a way to run an SBO report (for example Service Contracts) directly from SDK? The report should be given the necessary parameters too.
    I know that i can call Service Contracts form, simulate a query to find the appropriate record and then simulate a click on print preview button. This way it will undoubtedly work.
    But I would prefer opening the print preview directly, without the need of opening another form, that slows down the whole process. Is there a way to do this?

    Tamas,
    There is currently not an object via the SDK to directly run a report.  You would have to use the work around that you mentioned.

  • How to run BW reports since BI JAVA is not available in 7.4.

    We have Upgrade our BW 7.0 to BW 7.4 on HANA, How to run our BW reports since BI JAVA is not available in 7.4.
    My scenario: Producer Portal (BW portal ) we are creating/marinating Portal objects ( Folders, roles, work sets ……etc.), which replicate in Consumer portal (EP portal) via Federation framework. In-fact its abstraction layer, not hosting any Portal content physically but giving a unified enterprise access to business.  The actual content and execution of users requests occur on Producer portal itself.
    We have to maintain two portal in this case (consumer & producer).
    In BW 7.4 version,  dual stock is no longer supported. In order to maintain the federation paradigm have to purchase new license & servers for java stack.  What about if we directly integrate our BW reports in EP portal ? what would be draw back or issues in this approach in terms of durability, maintenance administration efforts……….etc . Please suggest us the best design solution for me.  Need expert opinion.
    Now it looks like extra layer (Standalone JAVA stack) to maintain & host?  Agree or no?
    Is federation still have worth or have some else new SAP concept. ?
    Thx,
    Jameel

    Hi Nawab,
    1
    Of course, do additional users and activity also consume ressources of the EP 'machine'.
    If you'll run in performance leak, is depending on the special situation. And of course the AS Java can be tuned/optimized for higher workload.
    Maybe if you are on a virutualized environment, it's easily possible to increase the ressources of the machine/s - or its possible to add additional java-nodes on separate servers...
    Lots of possibilities to increase the workload-power if needed...
    From my personal opinion, I usually recommend a separate BI-Java instance - not shared with other funcitonality.
    2
    Not sure if I get you right.
    There are two technical options to run a ABAP+JAVA Stack on one server.
    In one SAP instance - then ABAP and java processes are controlled in one framework. --> This option is not possible any more under 7.4
    in separate SAP instances - then the two SAP systems are running on same host but each has its on framework/instance running. It is similar to running on separte servers.
    Licensing:
    From an SAP view, there is no additional licensing cost for the separte Java Stack!
    But for sure, if you set it up on a separate server you may have additional cost for OS licensing, VMware, etc. - depending on your infrastructure...
    My recommend, if you plan to move with that stuff to HANA:
    Assuming you have 2-system landscape - DEV and PRD.
    Assuming you are in a virtual environment like vmware.
    Currentently you have two servers - on each a DualStack BW incl. current database on it.
    1. Set up four new machines with half sizing as you currently have.
    2. Split the DualStack and run the two new Java stacks on the new servers.
    3. Migrate your BW ABAP to HANA
         Set up the ABAP Application servers for your BWonHANA on the other two new servers.
    4. Kill/Recycle the two now free servers.

  • Can u access Oracle9i Reports objects from Java Code?

    Hi,
    How can you access Oracle9i Reports (Rel 2) objects like Body, DataSource, Groups etc from Java Code?
    What are the available APIs?
    I went thru the APIs at http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/docs/Javadocs/oracle/reports/plugin/definition/package-summary.html
    However various constructors stated in these APIs are using classes from "oracle.reports.definition" package which are difficult for me to locate.
    For eg. Report constructor is using oracle.reports.definition.RWReport and there is no API documentation available for RWReport class.
    Please suggest me the site for the above APIs or the method to get a reference to "Report" instance.
    Thanks
    Rakesh.

    Thanks Tugdual for your quick reply.
    Thats exactly what I am trying to do. I want to develop a utility which can have a subset of Report Developer's functionality.
    Currently using Reports Developer & Report Wizard, I can create a report by providing SQL statement and few parameters (like Report Style, Calculated Fields, Template file etc). I want to put all these parameters in a XML file and run my java utility (based on the APIs which I am looking for) which will use these XML parameter file and generate a '.rdf' file.
    Also, could you please suggest me the site for oracle.reports.definition package API or the way to get a reference to oracle.reports.plugin.definition.Report instance.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh

  • Running statspack report remotely from a client?

    Hi!
    To get a statspack report I run @spreport.sql from an SQL*Plus session on the database server.
    Having to go to the DB server for that sometimes is a chore and I would prefer to get a report from any client, or even from within SQL Developer.
    Is there an easy way to achive this or is there a tool for that?
    Obviously, the spreport.sql might differ from Oracle DB version to version, so I would either need to have a series of these reports scripts on the client and the select the right one or I would need to have some mechanisum (stored proc?) that gets to rdbms/admin on the server, executed the spreport.sql script there, read the output and return that from to the client.
    Is there an easier way or anyone knows of a package that will do that?
    Thanks,
    Marcus

    Marcus,
    I don't think that I did get your question. Sorry but do you mean to say that you want a report from the client terminal , running locally over teh client only? That's what I got from this line,
    Having to go to the DB server for that sometimes is a chore and I would prefer to get a report from any client, or even from within SQL Developer. Or do you want the report to be available from the server side to the client's local machine?
    If you want the report to be given to you on the client side only, I am not sure that there is any way possibly there. What's the issue in fetching the report from the server though ? If one can connect to db as a valid db and o/s user, he can fetch the data as well. But its just a thought. I don't use any of the tools much so I guess, I shall just join you and see what others have to say about it.

  • Run nVision report synchronously from with FieldChange

    In PeopleCode you can run an AE or COBOL program synchronously using remote call functions.
    Anyone know how to do this with an nVision report? I'd like to run an nVision report immediately in FieldChange but WAIT until output is ready. I also DON'T want to schedule it to batch as this takes too long.
    Thanks

    You could use CreateProcessRequest and then run it to the REN server. Is this what your looking for?

  • How to run 10g forms developed on win XP platform from linux based App serv

    dear all,
    I am developing 10g forms being on widows XP platform. I have also used
    both pl/sql and object libraries to develop them.
    Now what i have to do to make these forms work from a 10g application server
    that is installed on linux 4

    thanks for ur reply.
    the problem i am facing now is
    I used to use a specific path in the forms where the
    libs are located.
    but in linux path location identification is different from wins.
    i tried with remove path as well still it can not read the libs.
    waitin for ur reply

  • Running a report from a pl/sql procedure

    I'm trying to execute a report from a oracle procedure using UTL_HTTP.request and I keep getting a 'User-Defined Exception' error. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong or have any other suggestions what might be wrong? Using Reports6i and Oracle 8.1.7. When I run the report directly from the browser to the printer it runs perfectly.
    create or replace procedure p_test
    v_ret varchar2(4000);
    v_url varchar2(2000);
    begin
    v_url:= 'http://webserver:80/dev60cgi/rwcgi60?server=Rep-server-name+report=C:/report_loation.RDF+DESTYPE=printer+Desname=printer_name+userid=userid/password@db';
    v_ret := UTL_HTTP.request(v_url);
    end p_test;

    Cheryl, try replacing the ":" in your URL with the "escaped" version of the colon character instead: "%3a". (Thus your URL would read
    "...report=C%3a/report_location...".) Also, be sure that any other spaces in the URL are passed as either "+" or "%20".
    UTL_HTTP.request is much more sensitive to reserved characters on the URL than most browsers are (especially IE).

  • Checking default printer before running a report

    Hi guys,
    I'm trying to run a report directly from a form on the Web. However, at form runtime, the only thing known is DESTYPE ('PRINTER') but DESNAME is not. What I would like the form to do first is to check the user's local machine's default printer before running the report, and maybe show a message like: 'Oops, wait a minute dude! Your default printer is 'X', please change your default printer to 'Y' before proceeding.' Or something to that effect. After the change, of course, 'Y' (the name of the printer) gets passed on to DESNAME, and the report printing proceeds from thereon. Well, I think you get the point. Any cool ideas?
    null

    I can't tell the exact solution.
    But just check the Oracle Reports Remote Printing Utility(ORARRP).
    U can download this from oracle website.
    Using this u can generate o/p to a file and then a double click on that file will display a popup with all the printers accessible for that m/c.
    Thx,

  • Crystal 2008 upgrade from Crystal 7

    I use a program named Sytline to manage large customer and product databases.
    At the present we have Crystal Reports 7 installed on a Citrix Server. Our Sytline Program pulls reports from Crystal and makes them available on demand to our users.
    My question is.....Will we have any issues with our existing reports in regards to the 2008 upgrade? Will they retain the same formatting? Are my reports going to break?
    Thank you for your consideration.

    You may want to check with the makers of Sytline to see if their product has an update so that it will work with CR2008
    Other than the fact that you've skipped versions 8, 8.5, 9, 10, 11(XI), and XI-R2 and a lot of changes have taken place it's best just to test a few of the reports to see if they work.
    Are the reports provided by Sytline or did you create the reports yourself using CR7?
    Do you run the reports directly from CR7 or do you use Sytline's user interface to run the reports?
    If you use their interface you most definitely need to check with them before going to CR2008.

  • Run SAP transaction from Java?

    I'm looking for answers for two questions:
    1) Can I run an SAP transaction from Java & capture the result either in a file or table.. or any such structure?
    2) Can I run an ABAP report directly from Java? and then capture the result as well? I realise that I can use the JCO to run any RFC enabled function module..? But what about a report itself.? Can I run the report behind an SAP transaction directly from Java?
    I need this information urgently, and would appreciate any help on this.

    Hi Deepika,
    I think the requirement you have asked is quite complex and there is no solution as far as i have know.
    You can use BAPI to run SAP Transactions for example BAPI_MATERIAL_DISPLAY will take you to MM03 transaction when you pass a valid material number to it.
    When i searched for the same i ended up with no solution,
    but got a good link which gave some idea

  • Error when running a report in Crystal Reports Server 2008

    Received the following error message:
    Error in File Relatorio4: Failed to load database information.
    Or
    Error
    Failed to open the connection. Relatorio4 Details: [Database Vendor Code:
    12154 ]
    I'm trying to run a report Crystal Reports 2008 in Crystal Reports Server 2008.
    I use the native driver for Oracle (Oracle Server).
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Vilari,
    Do a small test to test your connection.
    -Right Click on desktop ->
    Create new text document->
    Save as test.UDL->
    double click and test connection by selecting driver name,datasource name,user id and password.
    Click on Test Connection.
    It should be succeed.
    Database Vendor Code is the error returned by the database client/server.Its not a Crystal Report Error.Check Microsoft's web site for more info on what that error means.
    Likely the client has not been in stalled or configured or both.
    Also check that proper DSN is configured or not.
    As you are using Oracle make sure that a TNSNAMES.ORA file exists and is in the proper place and accessible. See the operating system specific manual for details on the required name and location.
    Check to see that the service name exists in one of the TNSNAMES.ORA files and add it if necessary.
    Make sure there are no syntax errors anywhere in the file. Particularly look for unmatched parentheses or stray characters. Any error in a TNSNAMES.ORA file makes it unusable.
    Hope this helps
