Run nVision report synchronously from with FieldChange

In PeopleCode you can run an AE or COBOL program synchronously using remote call functions.
Anyone know how to do this with an nVision report? I'd like to run an nVision report immediately in FieldChange but WAIT until output is ready. I also DON'T want to schedule it to batch as this takes too long.
Thanks
Graham

You could use CreateProcessRequest and then run it to the REN server. Is this what your looking for?

  • NVision Report not generated with email option in the Run Report page

    Hi ,
    I want to send the nvision reports through email to the users, I tried it by setting the email option in the drop down of the "Type" after giving "Run Report" and then specifying the email ids. The issue is i am getting emails , but the report is not generated which otherwise generates, and hence no attachement is seen on the email .
    Anybody faced this issue ?? Please help

    Hi again!
    You are absolutely right! I will mark as solved in 5 mins (can't do it now, thread to fresh it seems).

  • Run SBO report directly from SDK

    Hi, is there a way to run an SBO report (for example Service Contracts) directly from SDK? The report should be given the necessary parameters too.
    I know that i can call Service Contracts form, simulate a query to find the appropriate record and then simulate a click on print preview button. This way it will undoubtedly work.
    But I would prefer opening the print preview directly, without the need of opening another form, that slows down the whole process. Is there a way to do this?

    Tamas,
    There is currently not an object via the SDK to directly run a report.  You would have to use the work around that you mentioned.

  • Running statspack report remotely from a client?

    Hi!
    To get a statspack report I run @spreport.sql from an SQL*Plus session on the database server.
    Having to go to the DB server for that sometimes is a chore and I would prefer to get a report from any client, or even from within SQL Developer.
    Is there an easy way to achive this or is there a tool for that?
    Obviously, the spreport.sql might differ from Oracle DB version to version, so I would either need to have a series of these reports scripts on the client and the select the right one or I would need to have some mechanisum (stored proc?) that gets to rdbms/admin on the server, executed the spreport.sql script there, read the output and return that from to the client.
    Is there an easier way or anyone knows of a package that will do that?
    Thanks,
    Marcus

    Marcus,
    I don't think that I did get your question. Sorry but do you mean to say that you want a report from the client terminal , running locally over teh client only? That's what I got from this line,
    Having to go to the DB server for that sometimes is a chore and I would prefer to get a report from any client, or even from within SQL Developer. Or do you want the report to be available from the server side to the client's local machine?
    If you want the report to be given to you on the client side only, I am not sure that there is any way possibly there. What's the issue in fetching the report from the server though ? If one can connect to db as a valid db and o/s user, he can fetch the data as well. But its just a thought. I don't use any of the tools much so I guess, I shall just join you and see what others have to say about it.

  • Running a report from a pl/sql procedure

    I'm trying to execute a report from a oracle procedure using UTL_HTTP.request and I keep getting a 'User-Defined Exception' error. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong or have any other suggestions what might be wrong? Using Reports6i and Oracle 8.1.7. When I run the report directly from the browser to the printer it runs perfectly.
    create or replace procedure p_test
    v_ret varchar2(4000);
    v_url varchar2(2000);
    begin
    v_url:= 'http://webserver:80/dev60cgi/rwcgi60?server=Rep-server-name+report=C:/report_loation.RDF+DESTYPE=printer+Desname=printer_name+userid=userid/password@db';
    v_ret := UTL_HTTP.request(v_url);
    end p_test;

    Cheryl, try replacing the ":" in your URL with the "escaped" version of the colon character instead: "%3a". (Thus your URL would read
    "...report=C%3a/report_location...".) Also, be sure that any other spaces in the URL are passed as either "+" or "%20".
    UTL_HTTP.request is much more sensitive to reserved characters on the URL than most browsers are (especially IE).

  • Run Crystal Report from URL includes username and password

    Hello,
    I've downloaded CR 2008, and CR Server 2008 demo's.
    I'm trying to use a feature I've used with CR10 enterprise, and XI report server, where I can run a report direct from the URL.
    Something like:
    HTTP://scada-ho/crystal/enterprise/admin/en/viewrpt.cwr?id=381&init=actx&apsuser=administrator&apspassword=&apsauthtype=secenterprise
    or
    http://192.168.72.98/businessobjects/enterprise115/infoview/main.aspx?id=1024&init=actx&apssystem=hobprim&apsuser=visy&apspassword=Fillers3&apsauthtype=secenterprise
    I've noticed that there were subtle syntax differences between CR10 Enterprise and XI report server in the past, and expect that similar differences exist with CR server 2008.
    Could someone show me the syntax for CR Server 2008 to run a report from a URL, and pass the required username and password, without having to go through the infoview logon screen

    Tim,
    Thanks for the reply.  I admit I did see that thread when I was looking for a solution.
    My hesitance is that for a non programmer it looks very difficult, and a lot of settings.
    I liked the URL reporting because of its simplicity - one line.
    I know that it advertises the username and password, but for our requirement (intranet reporting, LAN separated from IT), its not a big risk.
    My further investigations indicate that for CRS 2008 something like the following should work:
    http://192.168.207.156/CrystalReports/view.aspx?id=1102&apsuser=administrator&apspassword=admin1&apsauthtype=secEnterprise&init=java
    However I get
    404 - File or Directory not found.
    I'm running on Windows7 with IIS7, so I think it must be an IIS configuration issue
    Any Ideas?

    Process Request shows status of 'INITIATED' or 'PROCESSING' but no longer running

    Make sure u can open excel from the process scheduler server manually. when excel.exe gets crashed on the server, nvision reports may start to fail on the web. if u have too many excel.exe on the task manager also, u might want to kill the executables by suspending the prcs.
    make sure u have the right parameters for the drilldown and layout paths. this also can contribute to the process running to error status.
    Need to add the run control id - for a drill down report request u don't need a run control id. for a report book u can always add a run control parameters for every run. u can also differentiate the reports by the business units with your run control ids.

  • Running a Report

    hi, we have converted our Forms3.0 to Forms6i, some of these run reports from a trigger.
    the old command was
    acadhist := 'runrep ReportA
    paramform=yes reg_num=' | | TO_CHAR (:stud_m.reg_no ) ;
    host (acadhist ) ;
    which worked fine.
    in Forms 6i i am trying to use Run_product that works fine to run the report but i don't know how to pass in the parameter. my command line looks like the following.
    RUN_PRODUCT(REPORTS,'ReportA.rdf',SYNCHRONOUS,RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM,to_char(null),null);
    Anyone any ideas?
    Eileen

    Here's an example of Run_Product:
    ** Create the 'tmpdata' parameter list afresh.
    pl_id := Create_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    ** Add a data parameter to this parameter list that will
    ** establish the relationship between the named query
    ** 'EMP_QUERY' in the report, and the record group named
    ** 'EMP_RECS' in the form.
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'EMP_QUERY',DATA_PARAMETER,'EMP_RECS');
    **Pass a Parameter into PARAMFORM so that a parameter dialog will not appear for the parameters being passing in.
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'v_diar_id', TEXT_PARAMETER, vr_diar_id);
    Add_Parameter(pl_id, 'DESFORMAT', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'PDF');
    Add_Parameter(pl_id, 'PARAMFORM', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'YES');
    ** Run the report synchronously, passing the parameter list
    Run_Product(REPORTS, 'empreport',SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM, pl_id, NULL);
    Also, keep in mind that using web.show_document in replace of Run_Product works very well for reports on the web.
    Here's an example I have:
    web.show_document('http://webaddress/dev60cgi/rwcgi60.exe?server=servername&report=report_name.rdf&userid=username/pw@db&destype=cache&desformat=PDF&p_variable='| |vr_variable| |'&p_ name='| |vr_name,'_blank');
    I hope this helps you.

  • Unable to run Oracle Form Builder from Designer 10g

    I am using Windows XP with Oracle Designer 9.0.4.5. From Design Editor, I select Run -> Oracle Forms, nothing happen. I am able to open Form Builder manually (C:\ORACLE\904\bin\ifbld90.exe). After I generated a module (form) from Designer, I have to open the FMB manually from Form Builder. In Designer 9i, I am able to open Form Builder from Designer. Is this a bug for Designer 10g?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Thanks for the response, Suresh,
    I believe this is an installation/configuration issue.
    I installed Oracle Developer Suite 9.0.4, which includes Form Builder, Report Builder, and Designer. System Path contains the ORACLE_HOME (c:\oracle\904\bin). I am able to start Form Builder from DOS command (ifbld90.exe). I am also able to start Report Builder (rwbuilder.exe) and Designer (des2k61.exe) from DOS. I am able to Run Oracle Report Builder from Designer, but just not Form Builder. I also checked the Windows registry settings and they seem alright to me.
    thanks,
    Jim

  • Migrating to Oracle Reports 6i from Oracle Report 9i

    Hi all,
    We re-compiled original Forms & Reports 6i source code with Oracle 9i Forms & Reports.
    Forms are working really nice with almost no change at all with Oracle 9ias Forms services and Oracle 8i as db. The Oracle 9ias server is W2k. Will be upgrading to oracle 9i db in a short time.
    The only change we applied to forms source code was the function to call reports. We are using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT() instead of RUN_PRODUCT.
    i.e. the URl is formed in all reports as
    http://ip_address:port/reports/rwservlet?DESTYPE=cache&DESFORMAT=PDF&userid=user/passwd@dbname&report=f:\web\formas\ametas\REP_DET_METAS_DPTO.REP&estrategia_par='08'&centro_par=249&depto_par=27100&anio_par=2003&TRIMESTRE_PAR=1
    At the beginning we used directly the 6i reports but they were running inconsistently, after several calls to reports they got stock and we did need to reboot report services.
    Then as a suggestion we re-build only two reports in reports 9i for testing. But same result when running in combination with 6i reports. Combination means, sometimes called 6i reports someothers reports in 9i.
    The reports run fine several times but inconsistently. What I mean is that they can be running normaly many times and suddenly the reports server sends this message
    REP-50002:Server is shutting down
    DBA reported this issue to our local support but they said configuration is ok.
    In other tests and only running 9i reports it seems not getting stock never, at least we run two 9i reports more than 40 times. So the problem seems to be when we run 9i reports in combination with 6i reports. We are planning to migrate all our reports but this mean to rebuild all reports again.
    Is someone facing this kind of problem?
    Or is this the only solution? Losting men/machine hours rebuilding the reports.
    Any suggestion for my DBA to check in configuration?

    Sorry for the confusion the subject for this issue should be

  • Checking default printer before running a report

    Hi guys,
    I'm trying to run a report directly from a form on the Web. However, at form runtime, the only thing known is DESTYPE ('PRINTER') but DESNAME is not. What I would like the form to do first is to check the user's local machine's default printer before running the report, and maybe show a message like: 'Oops, wait a minute dude! Your default printer is 'X', please change your default printer to 'Y' before proceeding.' Or something to that effect. After the change, of course, 'Y' (the name of the printer) gets passed on to DESNAME, and the report printing proceeds from thereon. Well, I think you get the point. Any cool ideas?
    null

    I can't tell the exact solution.
    But just check the Oracle Reports Remote Printing Utility(ORARRP).
    U can download this from oracle website.
    Using this u can generate o/p to a file and then a double click on that file will display a popup with all the printers accessible for that m/c.
    Thx,

  • How to run a report in back ground

    how to run a report in background with out using job open, submit , close is there any other function module to run report in background.

    Hi,
               There are two ways for you to handle,
    one manually setting up the job through SM36 which is better and convinient,
    secondly through program using FM's JOB_OPEN, SUBMIT, JOB_CLOSE.
    Find below steps in doing both:
    Procedure 1:
    1. Goto Trans -> SM36
    2. Define a job with the program and variant if any
    3. Click on start condition in application tool bar
    4. In the pop-up window, click on Date/Time
    5. Below you can see a check box "Periodic Job"
    6. Next click on Period Values
    7. Select "Other Period"
    8. Now give '15' for Minutes
    9. Save the job
    Procedure 2 via Program:
    Below is a sample code for the same. Note the ZTEMP2 is the program i am scheduling with 15mins frequency.

  • Where running a report in the scheduler through Discoverer where does writt

    When running a report through Discoverer with the scheduler where is the file actual written. I have some reports scheduled and when I look within the tables I don't see the data.
    I want the file to export in a excel format. how can I make this happen through schedule and then where can I find the file?

    Hi,
    Not aware of any command line option through which you can acheive it.
    A different approach to acheive this is explained below :
    In your MTM do the following :
    1) Update a known ini (or XML) file with all Sub sequences names  in your test sequence file that you intend to run (you need to write a exe with command arguments for this)
    ex : Subsequencetorun = TestID2,TestID3
    2) Call the \runentry point using the "single pass"   (SeqEdit.exe /runEntryPoint "Single Pass" "c:\My Seqs\test.seq")
    In all of your test sequences do the following :
    1) Parse the ini file and get all the subsequences to be run in a string array (need to write a dll for this)
    2) Use a for each loop for the string array to run only the sub sequences of interest
    Please check the attached sequence.
    Hope this helps.

    My parameter form comes up and I enter the necessary information and hit submit query button. Then I get the Rep-52005: The specified key report does not exist in key map file.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

    Your code seems to be implementing metalink note 139546.1 - Using Reports parameter forms with RUN_REPORT_OBJECT on the web.
    For what I can see, the P_ACTION parameter should end in ?...
    i.e.
    P_ACTION=http://<hostname.domain:port>/reports/rwservlet?'
    set_report_object_property (
    repid,
    report_other,
    'paramform=yes P_USER_CONNECT='
    || vc_connect
    || ' P_SERVERNAME='
    || v_reportserv
    || ' P_ACTION='
    || v_report_url
    || '/reports/rwservlet?'
    );If this does not fix your problem, then to troubleshoot further you would have to post the code in your Before Parameter Form trigger of your report.
    Hope this helps,
    UPDATE:
    If the above does not fix your problem, my guess is that report name is not being generated in the hidden runtime values build by the code in the Before Parameter Form trigger.
    i.e.
    http://localhost:8889/reports/rwservlet?report=&destype=cache&desformat=PDF
    The above code will throw error REP-52005: The specified key report does not exist in key map file.
