Smartform sent as html email is displaying as text in MS Outlook
I'm working on an offline approval form in SRM 7.0 and created a smartform as a body of the email. I configured it to be an HTML message but when I retrieved the email in my inbox, the email is text based. Please help. Thanks.

Fredrick,
You are correct it is an outlook issue this is what we received from SAP
Sadly the problem isn't a SAP-specific problem but a general problem
with Microsoft Outlook 2007. Instead of using Internet Explorer as
HTML-Renderer Microsoft chose Word 2007 for various reasons. Because of
this Outlook 2007 isn't downward-compatible to Outlook 2003 and can't
show many of the formerly possible HTML-tags

View Received HTML Emails - ONLY Displays Plain Text!
I've got Apple Mail set up running two IMAP Email accounts (including .Mac), and two POP3 accounts. For quite some time now, Mail refuses to display ANY email message (no matter what email address receives the message) that has HTML/images in it. For example:
The Apple newsletters for Apple Computer, and the iTunes store that come out periodically, they never display with the images- it's always a boat load of hyperlinks, random text here and there and HTML all over the place. I've purchased e-tickets from United Airlines online and have been unable to print out my confirmation because the email comes through with just the HTML, some text and everything all over the place.
I operate heavily with my email and this is an issue that may get me to ditch Mail permanently if I can't get it to work properly. I am diligent about doing Apple Software Updates, I've gone through the Preferences of Mail time and again, I even erased my harddrive and did a complete system-rebuild just to see if this would fix the problem, and alas no such luck.
I'm not even getting the drop down bar that asks "Do you want to view images associated with this email?" And when I do get an email that I know has images in it and is in the form of HTML, the images aren't even located in attachments.
Does anyone have ANY ideas? I've tried deleting the com.apple.mail.plist file several times to no avail. Is there anything that I could be overlooking? I'd really hate to ditch Mail for Thunderbird or worse, Entourage.
Thanks in advance.Or you could try this:
To make Plain Text the preferred alternative for viewing messages (which may or may not accomplish what you want), quit Mail, open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type the following command (you can just copy it here and paste it in Terminal), and press <Return>:
defaults write com.apple.mail PreferPlainText -bool TRUE
You can revert to the default setting with the following command:
defaults delete com.apple.mail PreferPlainText
And you can reverse the setting regardless of what the default setting is with the following command:
defaults write com.apple.mail PreferPlainText -bool FALSE -
How can I send HTML emails that display in Mail?
Hi,
I have an email newsletter that I recently have begun experimenting with in HTML. The problem is, when I try to use HTML, the message displays properly in things like Yahoo! webmail, but in Mail for OSX, it displays like a regular text message, images and formatting are not used. I'm sending the messages from PHPList. Is there something I need to add to my code to get it to display correctly?
Thanks much.
-JonasWell, I did check the layout in Safari, and it looked fine. Since I'm not sending the messages from Mail (since it's for a rather large mailing list handled by PHPList), selecting "Mail the Contents of this Page" wouldn't really do very much for me.
If I do try to send the page using that technique, it does work. But I have to use PHPList to compose and mail the message. I just need to know if there's any other code I need to add to make it display in Mail. I can receive other HTML emails no problem, but mine just shows up as text, disregarding images and other elements. I just don't know what's going on here. -
Hi experts,
I am sending a smartform as a mail and have encountered two problems:
1. if I define a background graphic it is not displayed in the mail, and if I use a graphic in foreground it is not positioned where I defined it, it comes first before the normal texts in the mail
2. I also defined a table, which is not displayed correctly in the mail. Frames are missing and the data is not separated by column.
When I look at the print preview everything looks good.
Anybody here, who can help me with this subject ?
Regards,
Chris.Hi Chris,
Hope you doing fine. I'm also facing the similar problem which you were facing some time ago. In my case, all the styles which I have mentioned in smartform is not getting displayed in the Email, ie, if some text is made bold, then it is not coming as bold text in email. Can you please suggest me a solution for the same as I need the solution urgently.

Smartform or BSP HTML Emails in Outlook 2007
Hello,
we create different HTML e-mails based on smartforms or BSP. Everything looks as it should with <b>Outlook 2003</b>. But if you send the same mails to user with <b>Outlook 2007</b>, no formats, boxes and colors are visible anymore.
Does anyone has an idea what we could do to make it suitable for Outlook 2003 and 2007?
Thank you in advance,
HeikoThere isn't a very good solution unless there are some recent updates. I've answered on this before. In 2007, Microsoft chanegd the HTML rendering engine to Word. There is very limited support for HTML and CSS in Word's engine. You can Google it or go to MSDN to read more about it. I haven't looked for a better solution because 99% of our user community is still using 2003 though that will change soon. We're actually considering dumping Microsoft altogether and switching to Google Apps.

HTML emails render as plain text. Restarting Mail.app resolves the issue
I keep seeing this problem every day. Occasionally when I receive an HTML email (e.g. a newsletter), the HTML isn't rendered -- instead some sort of plain text equivalent is displayed, which is full of entity codes and URLs to all the images in the HTML. Clearly not right.
If I restart Mail.app when this occurs, the HTML email is ALWAYS rendered correctly. It's really annoying having to do this every day!
It seems like it could be to do with leaving Mail.app running when my Mac is in Sleep mode -- the issue always seems to occur when I wake the Mac. When I have restarted Mail.app after the issue occurs, all incoming HTML emails are rendered correctly.
Has anyone else seen this issue and do you know of a workaround? How do I submit a bug to Apple?
Cheers,
OllyHi again:
The preference file is located in the home folder (~library>preferences). Occasionally (rare, but it happens) preference files become corrupted and then cause all sorts of odd behavior.

HTML email saving as Rich Text
Hi,
We are having an issue with Outlook 2013 on Exchange 2013, where we need to save emails on a regular basis and it loses embedded attachments.
The emails when we attempt to save them are in html format – but when they save they auto change to Rich Text and as such they lose the attachment.
We found another guy who has the same issue
http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/392648-outlook-items-converting-to-rich-text
and there seems to be no solution – drama is I really need one !!!!! HELP!
We have so far: -
Tried a ‘save as’ to outlook msg with and without uni code.
When saved email is opened, it is in ‘Rich Text’ format
Embedded attachments are missing.
Also when responding to emails that are received from clients outside of the organisation, it converts the email to rich text and if sent, do not get past the exchange and remain in the ‘submission queue’ with “a storage transient failure” error for 3 days
before bouncing back as undeliverable.
TNEF was enabled which gave a whole lot of other errors so was disabled againHi Alanvdw,
Thanks for your response.
Cached Exchange Mode provide users a better online and offline experience. Cached Exchange Mode lets users move between connected and disconnected environments without interrupting their experience in Outlook. Also, it insulates users from network latency
and connectivity issues while they are using Outlook.
For more information, here is an article for your reference.
Choose between Cached Exchange Mode and Online Mode for Outlook 2013

Hope it helps.
If you need further assistance, please feel free to let me know.

suddenly today my email won't display properly. html emails just display the actual html code instead of a graphic display. Text emails just show a blank page. I have changed the View setting to show messages as original html, simple html and plain text. None of the settings restores things. All these emails were viewable properly yesterday.
Anyone got any ideas as to what's up?sounds like your index and the data are out of synch. Often the result of anti virus activity either blocking the update of the index or quarantining the whole inbox so there is no mail left to display.
Right click the folder, select properties and then the repair button. -
How to send a plain text and HTML email at once?
Hi all,
I'm attempting to use cfmailpart to send a HTML and plain text email all in the same cfmail script. I'm using Outlook and Gmail to test. I temporarily changed my Outlook settings to "read all standard mail in plain text," but it does not read the plain text cfmailpart of the email, it just attempts to format the text from the HTML email and display the links. If I remove the HTML cfmailpart from my cfmail script, the plain text version is delivered, but Outlook removes extra line breaks that I actually want to keep intact, and some of the other formatting is improperly rendered. Is there a better way to make sure email clients hold the plain text formatting (even though there really isn't any formatting with plain text) and a better way to test? The HTML version looks great in both Gmail and Outlook.
Thanks!Use the wraptext attribute of the cfmailpart tag to add line breaks.

Lumia 920 no HTML email?
four days into my first WM phone, I cannot find the settings to receive my emails in HTML. Are there?
Very frustrating to see garbled messages instead of a HTML mail.
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi,
As well as an issue with the phone settings, this issue could also depend on the mail server you use.
If you set up the email account to a non-Microsoft server as "Outlook (Outlook.com, Exchange, Office 365)" all HTML emails appear as plain text
If you set up the account using "Other Account" and use IMAP, all HTML emails display correctly.
This might suggest that the "Outlook" implementation on Windows Phones is specifically developed for 'Microsoft' servers.
We can therfore assume that this will affect all Windows Phone Users that wish to use ActiveSync on non-Microsoft servers or non-supported platforms such as Exchange 2003.
Thanks. -

Urgent : Display logo in Smartform with XSF+ HTML as Output Format
Hi,
Through the Portal we are displaying ESS Salary Statement of a Employee for last 24 monthys in the iView using the Customized Smartform ZHR_ESS_PAYSLIP_TO_PDF which is copy of Standard Smartform HR_ESS_PAYSLIP_TO_PDF .
Requirement is that we have to change the Output Option to "XSF+HTML" and Display a logo at Top-Middle of the form.
But the problem is that Logo is only visible only when Output Option is "Standard Output". and not visible when Output Option is "XSF+HTML".
Please tell me how to display the Logo in the Smartform so that it is visible in "XSF+HTML" or "XSF" as Output Option.
Asnwers will be suitably rewarded.
Thanks,

Some HTML Emails Do Not Display Properly
Recently, some HTML emails do not display properly in Mail. All I see is HTML. Yet, 98% of my HTML emails render properly.
Any thoughts on why this happens with some emails? Is it a Mail issue or are these emails not coded properly?Hello Tony.
Could be a combination but since Mail renders 98% of of all HTML messages properly (using Safari as the engine), this indicates it is a coding problem.
I'm not a big fan of using HTML with email since it introduces a number of problems. If everyone used Plain Text for message composition, the majority if not all problems experienced with email would be eliminated. -
IPAD3/IPAD2 :PDF files/ attachments sent in an email displayed inline ( embedded within the main email) in the message text on both my Ipad2 and Ipad three, however the same email displayed the PDF File icons/ attachment on both my Iphone and a friend’s PC. How do i get both my IPAD devices to display the PDF icons/attachments? Bearing in mind if i open the same email over the internet the PDF Icons/attachments display OK!
Has anyone come across this? Your advice/help would be most appreciatedThis happens to me all the time.
If is a one page PDF it seems as though it comes over already open and inline in the body of the email. Multiple page PDF files show as the PDF icon.
I can't find any official documentation of this - other than based on my own experience with PDF attachments in my various email accounts.
