0MATERIAL's attribute infoobject change

Hello All,
Currently 0MATERIAL infoobject has attribute ZXYZ (CHAR 60) and data is populated in it.
This ZXYZ is already used as navigation attribute in lot of Infoproviders.
Now I want to replace all the actual values in ZXYZ. And also I want to change the datalength of ZXYZ (from say 60 chars to 10 chars).
I followed some procedure and it's working, still want to confirm if it's safe to change an infoobject property from 0MATERIAL.
Steps I followed in Development:
1) Nullify the values sitting in ZXYZ attribute of 0MATERIAL. (So now ZXYZ master data can be deleted)
2) Deleted master data from ZXYZ infoobject.
3) Change the length from CHAR 60 to CHAR 10 for ZXYZ infoobject.
While changing the length, it asked me to adjust several database tables where ZXYZ was used. One of the table was /bi0/PMATERIAL which is a master data table for 0MATERIAL.
Database Utitility will adjust the tables when any of the field property from that table is changed.
Do any one of you see any issue if i transfer these change to Production?
I have not done this earlier, so if anyone has done it earlier, please share your experience?
Thank you,
Sarkar

Somehow it screwed up the material P table. It shouldn't have happened ideally.
But after opening the Q system and trying to activate the infoobject manually, system poped up a message to activate and adjust the P table, gave a warning it may completely or partially delete the data in P table and i continued.
All records in P table (attributes) were missing, SID's for those material were still available. Reload of these materials works fine since SID's are still available.
I'm not going to send this High Risk transport to Production.

  • Infoobject change for extracting texts data.

    Hi BW guys,
    Here is my requirement.
I have one info object 'salesmen', which is already used in some other ODS & Cube's.
Now I want to extract texts data for the object 'salesmen', for that I will need to change my infoobject (changes are : adding credit control are object under compounding).
But while i am activating the info object again it is giving errors.
    Error messages:
    1) InfoObject XXXXX (or ref.) is used in data targets with data -> Error:
    2) Characteristic XXXXX: Compound or reference was changed
3)InfoObject XXXXX being used in InfoCube XXXX (contains data)
    etc....
But i don't want to delete the data in any data target.
Is there any way to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance......

    Hi,
If you have not many cubes and ODSs with this salesman, you can consider another, beter, but more time-consuming way.
    1. Create a new IO for your salesman, add a compounding attribute as you want.
    2. Load master data for the new IO.
    3. Create copies of your infoproviders.
    3. In each of them delete an old salesman IO and insert a new one.
    4. Create export datasourses for old cubes.
    5. Create update rules for new data targets based on old ones.
    6. In URs map your new IO with the old one. All other IOs should be mapped 1:1 (new<-old).
    7. Reload data targets.
    That's all.
The way I proposed earlier is less preferrable. Because anyway you'll have to change loaded into data targets data. And in this case it's better to change data model as you want.
    Best regards,
    Eugene

  • Attribute /hierarchy change run

    Hi,
I have to run the Attribute/Hierarchy change run for only one infoobject. When I click on "Infoobject list", the list is empty even though some changes were made in the hierarchy. How can I get the infoobject list?
    Thanks.

    Hi.......
The easiest method is ........use the Program : RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN.........there give the infoobject name.........Then in the top Program tab >> Execute in background...........then u can monitor the Job in SM37........the job name will be RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN..........
But logically if changes has done to the Master data......Transaction RSA1 --> Tools --> Apply Hierarchy/Attribute Change... --> InfoObject List & Hierarchy List ............this List should contain the list of infoobjects.............if nothing is there..............it means no changes has been done.............and there is nothing to be activated............So also check whether the changes hav been done properly or not.....................then use this program............it should be done........

  • Crystal didn't show the BEx query Attributes description changes/Values

We experiencing the BEx query attributes/crystal report  issue.
I create a crystal report using BW- BEx query. Bex query displays the attributes values. But in crystal report side it didn;t show up the values as well as description changes.
But If I change the display properties of attributes (different from one attribute to another) the crystal report reflect the values. But crystal report didn't show the Attribute description changes , the one i did it in BEx query side.
    Example:
Bex has a Masterdata as well as attribute Field1, Field2 etc.. I changed the description like Field_Test1 and Field_Test2. Also I changed the display property for Field_Test1 is Key and text and long , Field_Test2 is Text & LOng text.
I  got the attribute values is crystal report Xi R2. But crystal didn't reflect the description changes?
    Suggestions Please?

  • Table for log of attribute/hierarch change run

    Hi Guys,
Can someone please tell me the table name where all the attribute/hierarchy change run log is stored? Early reply is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    hi Joseph,
what are you going to do with the log ?
attribute/hierarchy change run has no special log table,
it used the same one like other application log, BALDAT and other BAL* tables.
if you want to check the log, you can click 'log' in attr/hier change run screen ? (rsattr)
or view with SLG1, object RSSM, sub object MON.
    specify date.
to delete log, you can use SLG2.
    hope this helps.

  • Display attribute is changed to nav in a cube.

I have change a display attribute to navigational attribute.
Now if I run a BEx report on this cube, I dont get values for this nav attribute.Instead of value the column is displaying 'not assigned'.
Please tell me what could be the reason?

    Hi,
To change a display object to navigational attribute you need to make changes at two places.
    1. At the infoobject maintaince level
    2. Other at the infocube level.
Try to change at these two loactions.

  • Infoobject change in Production

    Hi
We are in production. Now i want to change an infoobject Material Number, by attaching another char, Marketing Line as Nav.Attribute. Marketing line gets its data from a derivation, not extracted directly from R/3 like other chars (material no,...)
so will this impact my Production objects anyway ?
because i am just adding a object. not deleting it.
    Anything can go wrong ?
    thanks
    venkat

    Hello,
    I believe not.
You just add a new characteristic as a nav. attribute and feed that attribute by a non SAP extractor.
Then you can use that nav. attribute whatever you want (in InfoProviders and queries).
    Diogo.

  • Existence Column in General Attribute (CRM) Change - PPOMA_CRM

    Hi,
By no means a CRM expert as I generally deal with authorisations, but something has cropped up which has just caught my interest.
Previously we have always created business partners via BP in the CRM client and then carried out the position assignment in PPOMA_CRM. However we are now integrating the CRM org structure with the HR org and so the user is hired, their ID is associated with IT0105, PFAL is run and the sync programme carries out the relevant business partner into CRM and is then assigned.
All well and good and working perfectly well. However I now notice that in the 'Existence' column in the 'Hit List' in PPOMA_CRM some records have a diagonal arrow and some don't. Hovering the mouse over the arrow gives the test 'Object to be removed'. Any ideas what this is?
    Thanks,
    Nick.

    Hi,
    Follow the steps
1 change the attribute Lesse Code'(CHAR) length 2 to 5 in the Develop ment system.
2 check the consistancy if the info object and activate.
3 do not worry about the Master data inside the Infoobject
4 after doing soo find the master datasource in the BI system
5 right click on the master datasoure replicate Metadata
6 By this time the data gets syncronize with the existing data
7 now give a full load to the infoobject Vehicle
8 now go to the transport connection collect all the necesseary objects into a trnasportable request and import the same into quality
9 now the changes done in development will replicate the same in the Quality system.
10before  loading the Quality sysstem for Vehicle data soure , Replicate the Metadata once again ibn Quality after transport and the data will matches as exactly the same in the quality

  • Attribute order changed

    Hello all!
I'm developing a webapplication with JSP technology.
i have to manage xml files, change and rewrite them.
i use those pakage for manage and edit xml files :
    "javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilder and DocumentBuilderFactory"
and that one for rewrite in a file:
    "javax.xml.transform"
Now the problem is that the xml file edited had a particular element attribute order. the file rewrited change this order into an alphabetical order.
i want to mantein the previous order.
    Is that possible? how?
    Thanks!

No you get over it. The spec doesn't say it, but it is clearly an oversight by engineers more concerned with computer consuming XML then humans. One of the big selling points is that it is human readable and editable, this goes right against that.
Now that XML is more of a standard, programming languages and other things are being generated using it. Configuration files and all sorts of things. Consider you have a tag like <function name="" comment="" >
Suppose comment becomes really long while name is very short. Right now XSLT will reverse these attributes..now comment comes before the name and the file becomes unreadable....XML is used by humans too!
The spec also doesn't say you need it or not. Java and the rest of the community have actively decided to be like you, a complete dick, for no reason and not support it. Just lazying coding for no reason. I guess maybe open standards are a bad way to go huh? Man up and have the right attitude...no reason not to make it an option other then total disregard for other peoples real world ( not virtual specification ) problems.

  • Attribute / Hierarchy Change Run and BWA Index

    HI!
During my analysis to the perocess chains in our BW/BWA systems, I noticed that Change Run either rollup or update BWA indexes. I am not sure what Change Run exactly does for the indexes, so if you please can help in that it will be great. because we are inpecting that this may caused us a failure in BWA indexes before.
    Thanks,

  • Audit of attribute value change: is the old value available?

When changing the value of an user attribute in the FIM Portal, the new attribute value is properly logged. This can be read in the request and in the standard report FIMUserHistory.
The question is, what about the old value that was replaced? Is the old value available in the Data Warehouse somewhere, so one can make a report or is it gone forever (of course one can find the old value by looking at the previous attribute change or creation
event, but this could be too long time ago)?
    Thanks for helping,
    Didier.

As far I remember (I don't have access to test FIM Reporting now) in reports stored on Data Warehouse, there is no such thing as "old value". But as far I remember it, also very old data is stored there, so there can be something like:
User: JJK003 -> New attribute (mail) value: [email protected] (12.12.2013)
User: JJK003 -> New attribute (mail) value: [email protected] (12.02.2014)
so, if you look closely to a history and sort it by user - you can determine what was the old value.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj133843(v=ws.10).aspx
In report, you have always most recent display name of this user and of attribute's display name, but history should show what value was inserted long time ago and what value was set a week ago - than you know what value was there previously.
But please be aware that users report, according to TechNet, does not include all properties:
This report provides information about changes to key attributes on user resources in FIM, including account name, email, job title, and
    employee start/end date.
    Keep trying

  • ECC to BW CHAR Infoobject changing values

    Hi,
I am loading ECC to BW and one of my Infoobjects is a CHAR with Length 3.  In ECC the value = 7, when it is loaded to the DSO the value is 007 and actually overwrites other values with 007 with the same key.
When the data is loaded, is BW automatically adding the leading 0s? Is there a way to just bring in the value as it is stated in ECC, since it is of Type CHAR and not NUMC?

    Hi Michael,
InfoObjects of type CHAR, by default, have assigned ALPHA conversion routine, which is responsible for adding the leading zeroes to values containing only numeric digits.  In this case, zeroes are added when data flows towards the InfoObject -usually from the PSA-.  However, you can remove ALPHA conversion routine at the InfoObject maintenance screen, in the "General" tab.
On the other hand, datasource fields may also have assigned the ALPHA conversion routine.  In this case, the conversion routine is applied at a previous stage, when data is being written into the PSA table -from the source system-.  You can check if your field has a conversion routine at the "Fields" tab, in datasource maintenance screen.
Depending on the datasource, sometimes it is not possible to change or remove the conversion routine at datasource level (this means that PSA will inevitably contain values with leading zeroes).  However, if that is the case, you can always remove them when you are updating the InfoObject with a short ABAP routine.  For example:
    MOVE source_fields-ebeln TO result.
SHIFT result LEFT DELETING LEADING '0'.
    I hope it helps you.

  • How to find if a particular context node attribute is changed.

    Hi,
When a screen is opened, the context node attribs has some values.  On some event, i wanted to check if one particular attribute in the context node has changed.  Is it possible to figure this out.
(ps note that I need not find if any change has happened to the entire table but only one column (attribute) of the node.  Note that the node has cardinality 0...n.  So there are multiple possible values)
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    suresh.

    Hi,
If you use the [Context change log|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/ae/f95e42ff93c153e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm]
and loop over the result table, looking for a certain attribute name and node name,
you'll get all the changes of that attribute, for all elements in that node.

  • Date modified attribute not changing

    hie,
    the situation is this:
everytime I modify a file in netbeans or zend (a javabased php editor), the changes made to the file are written ok, but the "date modified" attribute of the file is not changed, thous, when I try to commit (cvs) the file, the cvs clients tells me that theres nothing to commit. I have to open the file with notepad, do something, and then save it, in order to get the date changed and then send it.
I post this here, because i believe its a config java thing, that could solve both IDE problems.
thanks in advance for any idea.

Apparently you are maintaining the file open; until closed, the date is not updated.
