1.5 incompatible with some programs?

For a program on my computer i need JRE 1.4.2 (the program is called: DMM, a production of philips for putting mp3's on the new mp3-RUN-player - PSA260/00).
In school, as studying engeneer, we need Java 5.0.1 because we work with ArrayLists and those don't work in 1.4.2.
So in installed then 5.0 and I saw DMM didn't work anymore.
I tried every possible re�nstallation (in every way you can imagine) but still DMM doesn't work when 5.0 is installed on my computer.
(With 1.4.2 and without 5.0 it's still working)
I don't know what's the problem, i thought that a version further (5.0 is the newer version of 1.4.2) would make no problems for programs who'll need just 1.4.2 .
Is there someone with the same problems? Someone who can help me?

I solved your problem under Windows XP. I think that it is probably a general solution though.
Set your environment so that the 1.4.1 JRE which comes with the Digital Media Manager software is on your path and so that JAVA_HOME points to it following the normal methods.
To run the software what worked for me was:
java -jar psa.jar
You will probably see a lot of debugging messages. Just ignore them. It might be possible to turn them off but I did not persue the clues.
You should be able to write a simple script to package this all up. Unfortunately, I do not know how to invoke this when the device is connected. However, since the task tray program which is supposed to invoke the Media Manager does not work you can stop running it.
The AutoLaunch program gets started by a key in the Registry:
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run
If you (carefully) delete it, you will have one less useless program running. Or, of course, you could work out how to get it to invoke the DMM correctly...

Sounds to me like you could have a Motherboard problem. Formatting it takes away the chances of it being a software issue. Try taking out 1 stick of ram and testing it with that. If it continues to crash, take out that stick and try the other one. If it does it with both RAM then those are ok. HDD is not the culprit, so now it could either be processor or MB. Find a program to measure the heat of the notebook and run some heavy programs to make it overheat. If the temperature goes up and then it crashes, it could just be overheating. If it continues without overheating you either have a problematic CPU or MB. Hope this helps.

At the moment I have to run these programs on another computer. I have to download Trend House call each time I want to scan this computer for viruses etc
So....as it stands......FireFox really isn't all that you say it is.......IO am not happy with it and I am scared to try another version and lose more stuff

Safari incompatible with some public hotspots (wi-fi)?

Safari seems to have problems with certain wi-fi hotspots. For example, I was staying at a Radisson, and Safari promptly crashed whenever I attempted to use their wi-fi. The same thing happens at Caribou Coffee shops. Alternate browsers (such as Camino and Opera) work fine.
Any ideas on why this might be?

Maybe this will be of some assistance.
We operate a few hotels with hot spots for our guests. These hot spots are free but are protectect by password so only the guests can use them.
The way this operates in our case is that our D-Link router intercepts any attempts to go out on the internet and HiJacks the browser to the authorization page. A cookie used for authentication is set when th browser is HiJacked. Once a correct password is authenticated the router sends the browser to the original destination page.
Problem is Safari doesn't have the security loop holes that Explorer on a Windows machine has and can not be HiJacked. since the needed cookie is set during the HiJack you can not ever manually navigate to the Auth page as a work around.
The only way a Mac running Safari can use this system is if you install FireFox or have an old unsupported version of Explorer on your mac.
Btw, the newest version of Explorer for Windows finally closed this security risk and cannot use the authentication also.
D-Link has yet to provide a solution for this. My guess it won't be anytime soon since they (and most router company's) were relying on security bugs in Explorer as the basis for implimenting thier features.

Officejet Pro 8600 Plus prints with some programs, but not others.

I have a new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus connected with an Apple Airport Extreme. My iPad and Dell will print without problems. My MacBookPro using OS 10.6.8 will print iPhoto and Excell when using Parallels. It will not print using Appleworks or Office for the Mac. The Mac recognizes the printer and will print the test page. When told to print in Appleworks, the computer says it is printing, but nothing is happening.

I understand you are able to print from an iPad and Dell PC with the Officejet 8600, but unable to from your Mac 10.6.8. Since it will print from the other sources it would appear to me that the printer software is not installed correctly on the Mac.
Try uninstalling the printer software, when you are running the HP Uninstaller, just prior to clicking uninstall I would like you to hold down the Control, Option & Command button then click uninstall.
When ready to install the printer, HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver - Mac OS X 10.6, OS X 10.7, OS X 10.8.

Is the latest version of firefox incompatible with some scripting applications?

Since upgrading, some popup and redirect pages won't load, at all. Nothing in the URL bar, nothing on the page. It does not appear to be a popup blocker issue, It still happens when ABP is disabled, and only started after I upgraded. Also, when I tried to log into my email account, nothing happened when I hit "sign in". I opened google chrome and used it to sign in.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

It should still be compatible. Have you tried plugging it into a different USB port using a different cable to see if that helps? Perhaps, try it another computer as well to see if it's recognized there.
Otherwise, start by checking to see if it's even recognized in Device Manager. See this article for details.

I tracked down the problem with the download and installation, my windows 7 was missing a file and after reinstalling windows everything worked out. The first 32 bit program in their list was used. I hope this can help others.

It would appear that you can ask for an exchange but it doesn't specify any time frame... Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can add to this.
By the way, if you've replaced the drive so many times, perhaps there's something else going on elsewhere.

To use external code in LabVIEW, you can create a dynamic link library (.dll) that you can call from LabVIEW or a Code Interface Node (CIN). The instructions on how to make any of those are in National Instruments manual Using External Code in LabVIEW, which is included with LabVIEW, or you can download it from NI website.
Also, in the knowledge base there is a "External Code for LabVIEW - CIN / DLL - Starting Point" page.
If, on the contrary, you want to use LabVIEW code on your C application, you can build dll's in LabVIEW. Depending on your version of LabVIEW, you may need Application Builder to do so.
Of course, you can also use other techniques like, for example, making that your LabVIEW application save the data in a file and then your C++ application read the file and continues from there, or vice versa. You can also use the "System Exec.vi" in LabVIEw to do that, assuming your C code is an executable.

I would recommend that you download and install the excellent and Free "VLCPlayer for Mac", which reads many more types of files for video than Quicktime Player:

Use an app called chameleon ssd optimizer.
I enabled trim with it after almost a year of having installed a Samsung 840 pro SSD and my read/write speeds almost quadrupled.
I would definite;y advise using it even though Samsung SSD's come with there own garbage disposal.
