10.10.1 update looks to be frozen. Advise?

Its been almost n hour and the progress bar has been stuck at about 15%? Restarting is not recommended correct?

HI,
*"Disk utility won't repair the HD (I've tried multiple times). I did get 10.4.2 to install once, but still won't reboot. Tried a disk repair again - still no luck. I've tried reinstalling 10.4.2 again and it doesn't even recognize the HD as an available disk to load the OS on."*
What type of errors is Disk Utility reporting????
Are you booting from your install disk when you try to repair the drive using Disk Utility ??
You can't repair the drive using the Disk Utility app that resides in the Applications folder.
Try running the Apple Hardware Test
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always *have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk* space at all times.

    You cannot update iPhone 4 to IOS 8.1.2, the highest you can update is IOS 7.1.2.

    It's not uncommon for it to not work the first time and sometimes, you have to try it a few times. Turn off your antivirus software and your firewall while you are trying to restore the iPad. Enable them again after you restore.
    If that still won't work, post back with detailed information as to what exactly does happen as you go through the process.

    - If ou can turn the iPod off, then see if manually placing the iPod in Recovery mode  will allow a restore. Next try DFU mode.

    - If it always remains on let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try a rest and restore.

  • Updated software and phone frozen

    updated software 4 hours ago and phone is frozen with white screen and black apple.
    not sure what to do, cannot remove battery on iphone 6 plus.

    Same thing happened to me, except I have the 6. I just got the phone, not more than two weeks ago. I decided to update to iOS 8.2 just to have the most recent software, and I was fine for a few days. Like I said, I just got the phone so I'm fooling with it, looking through my facetime application. I then get this notification that says something about a failure, and facetime closes, and it goes directly to the white screen with the black apple logo. Now, everytime I unlock my phone, it goes directly to that screen. I can't even use my brand new phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried resetting it and all of the above. I visited my sprint repair center and the lady tried to hard reset it through iTunes and it wouldn't even go into reset mode with iTunes, so I have to order a whole new phone smh

  • TS1702 Updates appear to be frozen

    Updates appear to be stuck or frozen the apps in question show the black update bar but no update. Rebooted ,Internet is working.

    Take a look at the rug setting for real-time-package-updates on one of those two systems by running
    # rug get real-time-package-updates
    I would like to know if that is deactivated and then the normal software inventory interval might take over and that might run depending on your configuration just once a day and then the updates are getting recalculated.
    This setting is new in 7.3 and might be a good thing. When we distribute software to mayn managed devices they send after the installation their new inventory back to the zlm server and cause there a little bit high utilization. Deactivating it would help with this, but the new inventory is visible at a later time then.

  • Updates and downloads are frozen.  Now what do I do?

    I have about 3 App updates and one download that are just sitting there saying "waiting...".   It's been that way for the last couple of hours.  I have tried powering off and on.  I have tried connecting the sync cable and downloading the updates, etc. from my laptop.  They downloaded.  I synced, but the those same Apps are just sitting there saying "waiting...".
    My other Apps work.  Apps that use wireless can use it fine.
    My iPad has a 14GB capacity.   About 8+ is in use and 5+ is free.  I updated to the iOS 5 last week.
    What now?

    pjl123,
    Not sure if this is going to be readable.  It looked weird after I posted it.
      Now we are getting somewhere.  That WAS helpful.   At first when you said "iTunes" I thought, "Oh, no, this guy hasn't even read the problem.  There is no iTunes on my iPad.  iTunes is on my computer, and I know the problem isn't there."
    But you sure sounded like you knew what you were talking about, so I went looking.  I clicked on the App Store icon and looked around. No problem there.  Then I thought about the "Music" icon.  Wasn't that named iTunes before the update or was it iPod?  I don't remember.
    Lo, and behold!   I clicked on Music, then on Store.  There was a red cirlce with a number 5 siting on top of Downloads.  I went in there and paused those downloads.  I went back out of all of that and looked at the App whose update was previously frozen.  It was sitting there completed.
    I went to Purchases and chose an old App that I had not yet downloaded.  It downloaded with no problem.
    But I still had those downloads that were stuck, and there was no way to abort them; I could only pause or restart..  Drawing on previous advice from Demo, I double clicked the Home button, closed Music and iTunes, and did a two button restart thingy.  (It might have helped that downloads were set on pause.)  When I restart I went into iTunes (oh, found an icon for that, btw, that I hadn't previously seen...duh!) and restarted one of the downloads.  It downloaded.  So I took them one by one.  They have all downloaded, except for two downloads having to do with the Economist Magazine.
    HERE IS THE PROBLEM  (I think)
    I have an App for the Economist Magazine.  They evidently have done a complete app replacement rather than an update.  I think I no longer have the app that these issues are trying to download to.  Could that be the problem?  The downloads in question are called "Syria's Crisis" and "Babbage: November 16...".   So I guess you would consider them documents that are somehow linked to a defunct app.  I'm just speculating.
    So now the question is:  How do I get rid of these two stuck downloads.?  Keeping them paused will probably solve my original problem, but I would like to clear them out.
    Thanks guys for your help.  pjl123 - Correct answer.  Demo - Helpful answer (qutting App Store and restarting)

  • A few weeks ago I cleared the history in safari.  Since that time it no longer records any new history and the "clear history" tab looks to be frozen.  Have tried shutting down, nothing helps.  Advice please.

    A few weeks ago I cleared the history on my iPad.  Since then it has not recorded any new history and the "clear history" tab looks like it is frozen in place.  I have shut down the iPad several times, checked to make sure I have the latest update and read everything I can find about history.  It tells me how to clear history but there is nothing that addresses what to do if it doesn't record history since the last time it was cleared.  Can someone help me please?  Thank you.

    - Resset the iPad. Nothing is lost
    Reset iPad: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Do you have Private Browings turned on in Settings>Safari?

  • Software update failure, now phone frozen. Now screen only showing itunes logo and USB Cable on screen. Have I lost my backup?

    I just tried updating the most recent software on my 3GS (on my Mac) but it said the updated on my phone failed. Now my phone is frozen and only showing the itunes logo and USB cable. When I connect to the USB lead, its says: iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.
    Have I lost all the data on my phone?
    What should I do?

  • How to fix ipad disabled? it is looking for password, it looks like its frozen

    how to fix ipad disabled? it is looking for password, it looks like it's frozen.

    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Using menu to update look and feel

    Hi all,
    I am trying to update the look and feel of my application.
    In the main method I set the look and feel to metal.However, I have created a menu with an option to change the look and feel at runtime. I want the user to be able to just select the required look, e.g. Windows,on the drop down menu and then have the application updated.
    I know that the following does not work:
    void jMenuItem10_actionPerformed(ActionEvent exc) {
    try {
    UIManager.setLookAndFeel("com.sun.java.swing.plaf.windows.WindowsLookAndFeel");
    this.repaint();
    catch(Exception excs) {
    excs.printStackTrace();
    Am I miles away from the correct solution or am I nearly there? All help gratefully received.
    Regards.

    After UIManager.setLookAndFeel() add this row:
    SwingUtilities.updateComponentTreeUI(this);
    I don't think you need this.repaint();
    Hope this will help you!

  • Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage Wireless - Driver and Firmware update, now it's frozen?????????

    Just recieved my headphones yesterday - plugged it in and charged it = works. I then decided to download the newest drivers and firmware and went straight to bed. This afternoon, suddenly no sound is detected, what so ever! The USB Power LED flashes slowly and a constant red glow is showing at my headphones.. When I try to re-pair it, the USB Power LED flashes rapidly as it should, but neither the Mic Mute button, nor the Connect Button on the headphones responds.. It feels like the headset is simply just frozen right after the new driver/firmware installation.
    I've tried everything pretty much.. Went from Wireless to USB to see if that helped, but it didnt. Tried to remove / setback the drivers, still dosn't work. Headphones is just completely frozen with no buttons working and a constant red glowing light - can't be turned off or restarted!!!
    WHAT TO DO?!?
    Cheers,
    Alexander

    My headphones just ran out of power during the day = it resetted itself. I then connected it again and re-paired it. Atm it's working perfectly fine again. I will now try to reinstall the Control Panel, not the driver though, hopefully it will work this time and wont make the headphones go into "non-responding-retarded-mode" once again :-)
    Conclusion: For me it felt like it was either the Drivers or the Firmware update, maybe both, which made my headphones "crash", or atleast not respond to any command / buttons pushed. If anyone faces the same or similar problems as me, due to installation of drivers/firmware, let your headset run out of power (if you as me, don't know how to remove the battery manually) and just reconnect it :-) Should work then.

    Note:

    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.
