10.4.11 and cookies/caches

Does anyone know why my list of recently used Excel files, in the File menu, is being erased frequently, without my doing it? Also, and maybe related, Safari is not always remembering numbers and data that I ask it to autofill. This started when I updated to 10.4.11... Thx

1. Excel>Preferences>General>Recently used file list. Put whatever number of files opened you want Excel to remember.
2. Safari 3.0.4, I find is having some difficulty with that.

  • Firefox doesn't load my banking website but other browsers do even after virus and malware scan and cookies & cache cleared

    I have cleared cookies and cache, scanned with Panda and still can't load my banking website. I can load the website with any other browser I've tried with no problems.
    This is with Firefox in safe mode and in regular mode.

    It sounds as though you have worked through this article: [[Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can]].
    Do you notice any difference between secure sites and non-secure sites in what error message you get?
    Do you use any kind of content filtering or parental control software?

  • How do I get Firefox to show the proper font and layout of a site when it keeps loading an older version of that site? (I have cleared cache and cookies already)

    We are having a new website developed and my designer has made changes to it. Despite clearing the cache and cookies, the fonts are not showing up as the actual fonts. Also, the form fields at the bottom are extending beyond the border on the right side of the box on my screen, but this does not happen for other people using Firefox - it is only on my computer.
    I AM ON A MAC.
    I received a suggestion to reload the page and bypass the cache with:
    * Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
    BUT - this did not work.

    You can reload the page and bypass the cache with:
    * Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    * Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    * Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

    Error message is FAILED TO GET DISPATCH FROM IBRWSR2.  Then when you click on it the next error message says:  PHTML IS NULL. You have to click this error message twice and then the PDF finally loads. Happened every time
    Does anyone have a solution since Adobe will not respond?
    As a last resort I will try uninstalling the Adobe Reader XI and install Adobe Reader 10 instead. It seems to work ok. But when I try to install version 10 the Adobe site tries to install XI.  Any ideas?

  • I have problem with deleting all cookies, and all cache.

    I use FF for web development, and frequently have to clear all cache, and cookies to see my developed changes. But with the recent update from FF3.16/17 to FF4, I have started to face a weird problem while clearing all cache, and cookies. One is, I have observed that the process takes more time compared to previous versions, and secondly, it gets stuck sometime showing a script error on a file called sanitize.js file.
    I have a grab to show, but not sure how can I show it you. but the alert says "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete."
    Script: chrome//browser/content/sanitize.js:136
    Below are 2 buttons, Continue and Stop Script

    Firefox 4 also tries to clear the cookies from plugins like Flash and starts a plugin-container process with the Flash player and possibly other plugins as well for each cookie, so that can add a lot of extra time if there are a lot of cookies to remove. Also make sure that all plugins are up to date.

  • I'm having to clear cache and cookies daily to have certain favorite websites appear normally - why does that intervention only work for a short period?

    I'm having to clear cache and cookies from the tools menu sometimes 2-3 times daily in order to make certain websites appear normally. The websites will have mostly script, which will be placed in columns, and very little in the way of graphics, maybe just a still picture of two. After I clear the cache and cookies, the sites go back to normal, but maybe after a few hours when I go back to the website it will re-appear as described above. The url below is the most commonly affected but it also happens on others like Yahoo news.

    In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:
    #From the Firefox window click the Firefox button at the top left and select ''Add-ons'', or, if the Firefox button is not shown, click the ''Tools'' menu and click ''Add-ons''.
    #Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the ''Extensions'' button on the left side of the window.
    #You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
    #To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the ''Remove'' button on PDF Viewer (what is this?). You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
    #Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the ''Restart now'' link in the message.
    You can find further information about uninstalling extensions in the following articles:

  • Repeated "Bad Request" errors after clearing cache, cookies, and cookies.sqlite

    I get repeated "Bad Request" errors when submitting forms, logging in/out of sites, etc. I get this on a wide variety of sites. I have tried repeatedly clearing all cache and cookies. And I just tried disabling all my add-ons (only have 4) and then deleting the cookies.sqlite file and this still made no difference.
    I am using Mac OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 5.0.1 but I have been experiencing this problem in past versions as well, maybe as far back as the latest firefox 3. My main motivation for upgrading Firefox multiple times was hoping this problem was corrected. It never used to happen, it just started happening all of a sudden. It has never occurred on Safari and I am still able to get any site that doesn't work properly to work on Safari without any problem.
    I experience this on many sites. One reliable cause of it is logging out of Facebook.

    You did delete all cookies.* files ?
    If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file <i>cookies.sqlite</i> that stores the cookies is corrupted.
    Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> and <b>cookies.txt</b>, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cookies#Removing_cookies
    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
    If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • Cannot load newegg web site. have tried clearing cache and cookies

    Newegg.com fails to load nine out of ten time and takes over a minute to load when t succeeds. I have already tried clearing the cache and cookies as suggested in trouble shooting with no improvement in performance.

    Try:
    # Navigating to about:config
    # Searching for "intl.accept_languages"
    # Right click on the matching result and click "Reset".
    Newegg doesn't respond if you send a malformed Accept-Language header.
    There is some plugin that is changing the default value for that header (I'm pretty sure it is, or was, Firefox Sync)

  • Users forced to clear cache and cookies after server move

    We recently moved our ColdFusion 9 website from one server to a new and improved upgraded spec server. The site works great and the upgrades are a huge improvement. However, since the move last Friday we are being flooded with calls to our helpdesk because a user goes to our normal login screen, enters their username and password, successfully login (which I store their last successful login in the account in a database so I know it's passing all login scripts), but when redirected to the "successful login" message screen, it is not holding the session variables from the login page and prompts them to login again. It's a basic form with username and password, a simple query to check for an account with those credentials and then if found sets a session.usauthenticated and then moves them to the next page. This has been working on the old server with no issues. I don't believe it's a coding issue, because on everyone who has called in, if we clear their cache and cookies from the browser and then attempt to login again, it works fine and maintains their session. This has worked on everyone so far. So I'm thinking it has something to do with our users storing cookies from the old server and the new server is trying to access them unsuccessfully.
    Is there a way around this? It seems rather odd to me that there isn't an easy way to migrate a website to a new server and treat it as a new website to the user instead of something cached. How can we make our website work for past users without having to have each and every person clear their cache and cookies (we're talking over 300,000 users here so this could get intense). Most users won't know to do this so they are all calling our help desk which is being overrun with these calls right now.

    never fails, after you post a question, you find the answer.   For anyone else who runs into this, we had to purge all cookie and session data from our users prior to them hitting the login screen. After doing the following code, they were able to successfully login on our new server without having to manually clear their cache and cookies from their browsers.
        <cflock scope="Session" timeout="10" type="exclusive">
          <cfset structclear(session)>
        </cflock>
        <cfloop item="name" collection="#cookie#">
        <cfcookie name="#name#" value="" expires="now" />
        </cfloop>

  • What is the definition of cookies, cache, and local storage?

    Hello all, my first post but I've been Mac'd for about two years now.
    My question is, how do cookies, cache, and local storage function, and other than where they're stored, what makes them different.

    Thanks Sig, actualy I brushed up on the definitions prior to posting the question. Was hoping for more of a dialog on the subject as it seems there is some confusion. At least my conversasion with Support would suggest. So I'm curious what other members of the Apple community have to say.
    Local Storage are flash cookies yet I was told not to be concerned as I am blocking cookies just fine. So are we talking hot dogs or franks?...
