10 days,working on 11th day, with no landline

After the technician that showed up 3 1/2 hours late last Saturday that couldn't fix the issue because the problem is in the cable box I was told the phone would be fixed in 24 to 48 hours.  48 hours passed, still no phone service.  I called customer service and the rep was the worst customer service rep I have ever spoken to ever.  At first she said I should not have been told it could be fixed in 24 to 48 hours because they had to send out a FIOS team (odd since FIOS isn't available here) which has a 7 day backlog.  She made an appointment without asking me if that timeframe worked for me, asked me if I wanted updates via phone call or text to my cell phone, and then just hung up without saying anything like thank you for using Verizon or may I help you with anything else.  She just hung up, click.  I found out about the appointment by checking my account online.  Then the next day I received a phone call, not a text update as I requested.  And now, my phone was suppose to be fixed before 6pm yesterday.  It is now after midnight Saturday, March 24th and still no phone.
This is just ridiculous.  I am going to call Time Warner tomorrow and switch to their digital phone.  I was keeping the hardwired landline with Verizon because I was worried about having no phone if we were to lose power but 11 days with no phone is worse.  Oh yeah, I am also reporting this to the FCC.

A technician showed up at 8:30 this morning and fixed the problem, finally.  This still is not going to prevent me from switching my phone service and reporting you to the FCC though.

    Hi,
    What does "still won't work" mean?  Flash Player 10.3.183.90 is very old.  You might find that many sites require a newer version of Flash Player to view content, perhaps this is what you mean by "still won't work".   Depending on your system, you may be able to upgrade to OS X 10.6 which will enable you to install the newest version of Flash Player.  There's lots of information on this on the internet.  Just search for "upgrade OS X 10.5.8 to 10.6" or similar.

  • My Day With Adobe CC

    Well I've had a [expletive deleted] of a day with your Adobe Creative Cloud. Let me tell you about it:
    1) Had to replace a single bit of video footage in Premiere project I was working on. It was eported as an FLV originall, as it was a Flash file originally.
    2) Went to export the video. No longer able to export the video as FLV. Flash doesn't export it anymore. Export it as mov.
    3) Replace footage in Premiere with mov. Export media.
    4) Export failed for unknown reason. Twelve times.
    5) Review details on this error code on Adobe forums.
    6) Resolve that Media Encoder is having a problem accessing the file for export.
    7) Notice that Adobe has installed ME CC on top of ME CS6.
    8) Remove ME CS6 and ME CC from applications (which doesn't actually uninstall the programs from Mac)
    9) Adobe CC app doesn't update that I've uninstalled them.
    10) Quit Abobe CC
    11) Start Above CC
    12) You've been logged out of Adobe CC
    13) Try logging into CC. Nothing happens.
    14) Try logging into CC. Nothing happens.
    15) Quit CC.
    16) Open CC.
    17) Try logging into CC. Nothing happens.
    18) Reference Adobe forums
    19) Rename OODB (or somthing folder) to OODB so you can login.
    20) Login.
    21) ME CS6 and ME CC are still installed, of course.
    22) Find out how to uninstall programs installed by CC since CC doesn't actually do it itself.
    23) Uninstall ME CS6 and CC to start all over again.
    24) Intall ME ME CC.
    25) Try to export flash FLV again. No dice.
    26) Uninstall all CS6 programs in the event theres an old version of ME that's attached to Premiere
    27) Reinstall all CC apps I have.
    28) Try to export FLV from Flash. Can't
    29) Why? FLV's no longer supported by CC.
    30) Export video as mov.
    31) The required version of Adobe Media Encoder is not installed or the installation is damaged.
    32) While that's happening, all the other flvs in the Premeire project are no longer valid, so now I have 5 pieces of footage that I can't export through Adobe Flash. Awesome!
    33) Frustrated with that, upon reinstall, Dreamweaver opens up again and would you look at that. Coder Workspace no longer exists, so the workspace I was accustomed to using is gone. Thanks for that.
    So basically my entire setup is now [expletive deleted]. And I still can't export the first piece of video that I wanted to export.  And I've been problem solving your software problems for about 12 hours.
    I guess there's not one specific question in there since everything is pretty much broken now. Maybe if you can either tell me how to fix my setup, or barring that why I'm paying you for a product that doesn't seem to work at all I'd appreciate it.

    I thought it would be interesting to share my first day using the new Adobe SpeedGrade CC with everyone. Most would be embarrassed to do this, not me.
    This is NOT a tutorial, but more of a way to show you what I am struggling with and what I like. So if you are having your first day with this program you might run in to similar items.
    Perhaps even a product manager from Adobe might watch this and help him what they should work on next.
    Issues I had:
    Where are the Curves adjustments?
    How do I sharpen an image?
    Can you use the tracker backwards?
    Why didn’t my track work?
    Playback at 10fps (not real time with my Monster Computer)
    How do you blend layers?
    How do you zoom into the timeline?
    Things I love:
    Doesn’t crash like Resolve
    DIRECT LINK!!!! Love it!
    2 up and 3 up for shot matching.
    No more XML and EDL!!!!

    I'm basically a noob here too ... only been working with this for what, 5 months? 
    Yea ... would LOVE the option to switch to a curves-based control, one each for luminosity/R-G-B at the least. I've put in a feature-request for that, as have apparently some others. Maybe next year in ... oh well.
    Also ... you might have noted, there's no skin line in the vectorscope! Ridiculous, and that's ALSO been feature-requested by people ... again, maybe next year in ... oh well.
    Still ... but dang this program does work fast in concert with P-Pro as your NLE. One bit of advice. In a P-Pro/Sg/Ae workflow, the link from/to P-Pro and Speedgrade works perfectly well both ways. HOWEVER ... your Sg grades do not come into Ae if you send the project from P-Pro to AfterEffects. Now ... if you save your P-Pro projects with it's Sg grades ... then open Ae and use its Dynamic Link feature to pull a P-Pro project into Ae, your grades from Sg come in just fine thank you.
    And anything you do in Ae comes into Sg on a different layer that you aren't allowed to 'touch', so you can do fx work afore grading and see how the footage looks including the fx, but you can't touch the fx layer of the timeline (other than to turn on/off visibility in the monitor) to do anything to it.
    Still ... easy workarounds, NO time to transcode/export/import ... glory hallelujah!

I have all my apps, contacts, even my photostream back, but my camera roll has said "downloading 137 of 1,345" for two days.  I really don't want to have to start over as the whole process took almost 3 hours. Help?

    Someone mentioned that syncing with ITunes, making sure that photos are being synced - even with an empty folder, fixed the problem.  I tried it and it didn't work for me.  Anyone got any answers that don't include losing the photos or erasing and restoring from backup again?

    I see how to do this for a given month.  Sorry I thought incorrectly the solution above would work.
    Open the month you would like to priint.  Do "Edit > Select All" from Calendar's menu (or command-A, which does the same thing).
    Do File > Print > <Change view to Selected Events>.

    The drivers that shipped with Win 8 are pretty out of date (and buggy).

    My progress is like 6600 --- N70-----N73----N95----N97---- NOKIA N8.
    I got my Nokia N8 on 14th Oct 2010.
    As Usual I started doing R&D on this since I m a tech Enthusiast.
    Over the last 50 days I have experienced lots and lots of N8 and hence posting my experience.
    I would divide it into hardware and software review.
    Nokia N8 is a HARDWARE gem from Nokia
    Good Processor, adequate RAM , USB OTG, good screen, good protected Aluminium case, Good Design.
    That’s where List ends.
    Software Problems-----
    Lot and Lot of problems.
    1.      Hangs inevitably in a day or 2.
    2.      Screen goes blank when incoming call is there so I have to use side button (rocker switch ) repeatedly to get back the screen and caller information.
    3.      Does not connects to my home wifi network after continuous usage for 30 min. than I have to make N8 offline than again search and it some times catches it , otherwise I have to switch off my mobile (not the Linksys Router since my laptop continues to work normally connected to router)
    4.      Music will not download from Ovi Music store , file will start downloading and after showing 2 % or 5% it will hang.
    5.      Multitasking  as advertised a lot is not smooth. RAM will show approx. 60 mb with 2 or 3 tasks open and it will hang after that.
    6.      RAM is not freed even after task is closed . it goes down with app but does not return to previous capacity after that task is closed.
    7.      Caller ID will not work some time ---- so I will not get callers name even if it is stored as single entry.
    8.      Since my SIM is provided to me as CUG no (CLOSED USER GROUP) sometimes N8 will not allow me to make a call. After lot of hassles in last 50 days , I somehow tricked this by setting phone and security options to CLOSED USER GROUP to OFF in  menu and than switching it back to default after some time. I posted this question even in nokia forum but even there I did not received the solution.
    9.      Battery will drain in a days time with normal usage , what is expected of a smartphone. Checking mail 2 times on wifi and talking for 30 to 40 minutes.
    10.   Except for the camera, which I don’t use much , I do not see any great things in N8 to fall in love.
    This is a TRUE  review , since I m a great NOKIA fan and not happy with Nokia , first with N97 and than N8.

    Does Nokia Have answers to these , or solutions in next firmware .

    I have been using N8 for about the same time - 60 days and am coming from similar path of N97, N95-8G, N95 and so forth before that from ~Y2000. I do netbrowsing, maps, email, weather and other apps several times per day, also while roaming. I dont do calls and SMS that much. I can relate to number of issues highlighted in this post, however with different view.
    As with any hi-tech gadget its likely that we see bugs and design annoyances at initial launch. The amount of trouble I have with N8 is for my (happy) case quite small compared to what I was actually expecting.
     - Yes it has hanged few times where the scenario is hard to repeat/define
     - Screen blank with incoming call - has happened number of time and I think its a software problem where some of the phone sw misunderstands its screen/blank state. When it happens its "always" the case for incoming calls for me, no matter if Im close to prox sensor or not, until I reboot the phone and then it is fixed. Most likely some application, battery saving state or the way of killing apps from start tab rather than gracefully exting them causes this I think.
     - There are some scenarios where my phone works vice versa with screen - keeps it always on, even with battery low, etc - I think thats when the software misunderstands it the other way. Also I get sometimes continuous "wlan connection failed" without any apps running/startup widegets all beeing offline (and wlan available in proximity). Id suspect that some application "parts" are left to run while theres no visible component to show in task manager... Might well relate to screen behaviour and battery drain...
     - Unable to match caller ID to names in phonebook has similar pattern - it behaves like that until I reboot the phone. At the N95/8G period similar problem manifested itself when there were other problems visible related to low memory. I would suspect something like that here as well.
    For me the most of the concern is the case design and build quality of N8. My previous phones have been subject to number of falls and bad weather conditions... I went for a 20 min swim with N95 in my pocket, dried it for 2 days and it worked again. N958G was submerged in mud for 2hrs and again worked after throughout cleaning (have to admit that buttons and rest of the electronics started to fail due to corrosion after few weeks). I slammed N97 between my car trunk, it bent a bit but no screen cracks, antennas all seem to be connected well and works allright. N8 feels fraigile with all its small sockets for various plugs and its concept of screwing the case together probably cant take as heavy beating as the plastic covers which acted as pdding for the internals of previous phones. Im afraid to drop the N8 in snow, mud, pool or down few floors of stairs...   Anyways, I guess something will happen sooner or later and I will see then.
    Coming back to the software issues - I foresee these will be gradually fixed as the new firmware and app updates come out. The sooner the better - people will be happier about their phones which behave better and they will act as ambassadors for Nokia

I don't understand why it wont allow me to download previous purchases?? I never had this problem before the 10.5 update.  I have emailed their help panel numerious times and they never do anything that remedies the problem??  I only have one computer and one ID I just dont understand what the problem is. I use a 3G connection to download music and sometimes the songs are not completely downloaded too and when I cant redownload them its like a waste of money.. I am so discouraged!!! Has any of you had this problem or know what I can do to fix this problem?? Thanks!!!

    I have a couple of articles that should be able to help you troubleshoot this issue a little further. You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes first. This has to be done in a specific manner, and this article can help you do that:

  • How to address HP Printer Software Update 3.0, iTunes 12.0.1 update that sits in the App Store, 'Calculating' for days with no install?

    The App Store indicates there is a Software Update that appears to include the HP Printer Software Update 3.0 and iTunes 12.0.1
    Unfortunately, the software update fails to install. Instead, it just sits there 'Calculating' for days with no progression on the status bar of the overall update.
    The update buttons of both the HP Printer Software Update 3.0 and iTunes 12.0.1 are both greyed out, with no progress bar.
    Not sure of what the issue is, there is no warning or error dialog box that appears or any indication of an application that may be interfering with the install.
    Any advice? 
    MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2011) 2.3 GHz Core i7, 4GB RAM

    Thanks for the suggestion. I wanted to install the individual updates but because I had settings to automatically download and install updates, whenever I opened the App Store, the system would try to download and install, preventing me from canceling the update to execute each application update one at a time.
    After changing the settings from automatically downloading and applying updates, followed by a restart. I was able to open the App Store and run each individual update.
