15 % restocking fee for my customized but undelivered laptop

Hello, everyone.  i am an international student. Last Monday, I customized a satellite laptop and it is scheduled to arrive at my house next week. Yet, I changed my mind and today called customer service to cancel my order.
Surprisingly, Toshiba says that my ordered but not yet delivered laptops is subject to a 15% restocking fee. If at all, I think that at least I need to pay less for a restocking fee when I canceled my order before shipping.
Could you give me any tips on how I get the laptop returned without paying the restocking fee? Again, I have not gotten it yet. For an international student like me, $500 is big money. I need  your help.

  • Restocking Fee for an exchange???

While I understand the need to charge a restocking fee for returns, I find it incredibly ridiculous that we are charged a restocking fee when it is an exchange for the same exact phone. My mother's phone was not working properly so she went to the verizon store to get it exchanged within 14 days as they mentioned, and the representative at our verizon wireless store charged my mother with the restocking fee in order to exchange her less-than-14-day old phone for another phone.
Then what she witnessed afterwards is disappointing. The phone that she had turned in was being wiped down carefully and put back into the box. Does that mean someone else will buy that phone as a "new" phone even though it was not working properly?
We almost feel as if we were scammed into getting a bad phone at first and then exchanged for a good phone afterwards.
Is this just an over-imaginative thought or does this seem highly possible for a company that will nickel and dime you at every thing possible.
This is upsetting as I've been with the company for a very long time and will have to consider other options when my contract ends soon.

Sounds like you were at a Verizon Wireless Authorized Premium Retailer and not a Verizon Wireless Corporate store. Retailers are owned and operated independently of Verizon Wireless. All of the inventory in those stores is paid for by the proprietor out of pocket. They have to sell it. They shouldn't get away with putting a returned phone, defective or not, into a box and reselling it to someone else but it does happen.
At a corporate store if you have a defective device (very rare but it happens) and it needs to be exchanged for the same exact phone within 14 days there is no fee.
There are a couple of ways you can tell the difference between the two types of stores. First, below the big Verizon Wireless logo it will say Authorized Premium Retailer or the name of another company. Most people miss this when walking into one of these locations. Second, usually the phones on display are fake or non-working models. Third, your receipt is usually printed on 8 1/2" x 11" paper and not on regular receipt paper. It's a shame but I would call VZW customer support and see what can be done. When you purchase at one of these locations you must take it back there within the first 14 days. It's the same as if you went to Best Buy. After the first 14 days these locations won't even help you and they will direct you to a corporate store anyway. In which case a defective device is replaced with a Certified Like New Replacement no matter where it was originally purchased.

  • Restocking fee for faulty EXCHANGE?

lets say a unit is faulty to some degree and it is taken back as purchased with recipt to apple store for a replacement, not a return... is there a re-stocking fee?
    thank you.

As a ln At&t rep i can tell you that we are not processing exchanges in the store for defective iphones. Apple has made it clear to us that all phone related problems are to be forwarded to the apple iphone service hotline or corporate apple stores. The 10% restocking fee for iphone exchanges would only apply if one opened the phone and then decided to exchange it for another make of phones. All service and iphone for iphone exchanges are handled by apple, per there directive.

  • Restocking fee for exchange

Hello all, had a question regarding exchanging my 16GB iPhone for 32GB iphone and needed clairificaiton.  I made a mistake and bought a 16GB iphone and now want to get the 32GB will Verizon charge me a restocking fee if I wanted to exchange?  I did read some where that apple was getting rid of the 10% restocking fee but not sure if it applies to verizon and my scenario.
    Any input would be helpful.
    Thanks

if you bought it from verizon then it's $35...if you bought it from apple then it's up to their policy. they now have to sell it used, which is why they charge the restock fee.

  • Invoice Split for same customer but for different output types

    Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement from the customers. A new output type has to be created with reference to the old type and for this output type a new driver program and SAP script was created with reference to the old one. They wants  invoice split to be happened based on item level PO number. That was done successfully.
This invoice split logic  was written in the billing routine  RV60C901(Customized).
But now they came back with a issue that the invoice split  should be done  only if they use the new output  type but not for the old one. That means for the same customer for one output type invoice split should be done based on item level po number and for one output type it should not. How can this be controlled for a particular
    output type?
This output types will not be used in the billing routine as the split happens at the sales order level. Is there any configuration that allows split for a particular output type.
Please suggest me how to proceed???

    Hi,
In the invoice split routine check if it is possible to find the output type making use of field symbols.
Just check in debug if the variable for output type is available as follows:-
    (Program Name)variable name.

  • Restocking Fee on a Full Price Defective S3? See ya VZW

I broke the screen on my RAZR which has left me without a phone. I'm paying for service that I can't use... but my main concern?? How can any company justify charging their customers a restocking fee for a defective device return? You're not restocking it... you are going to refurbish it. I've been with these clowns for almost a decade and how do they repay me? By telling me that if I want to keep my unlimited data I have to pay full price for a phone. If the phone I get is damaged, I have to pay them to take it back. If I want to upgrade with their subsidies then I have to pay an extra $20 more for a data package that only allows me 8gb. Not cool Verizon.. Sprint sucks in Denver, T-Mobile is iffy... but at this point, I'll take a prepaid gas station flip phone if it means not having to feel trapped and unappreciated. Thanks for nothing Verizon... I'll be glad to see the day that you are filing for bankruptcy.

Well, here is where I'm at... and I've commented on a few posts this evening... I'm heading back toward the iPhone path. As much as I wanted to throw some money the android way and as much as I wanted to learn this OS I don't think I can put up with any more frustration right now. I did have some of that with Apple when they said their new iOS5 would work on the earlier phones (3GS) and iPad 1 but that upgrade made my devices pretty bad. Slow to respond, laggy, bigger battery drain, etc. But anyway... the 4S my wife is now using (on VZW) is quite snappy and picks up a good signal. It is getting 3 bars where the GNex usually had none or maybe 1 but never lasted. Now add this line of thinking: If you buy your iPhone from the Apple store I think your customer service experience might be better as well. And I mean if you have issues with the phone. It seems to me that with VZW you get 1 chance to return (+fee) and the second phone you're stuck with. At least that is what I was told. I'm assuming with Apple they will exchange the phone (no fee) and if you do have problem they will at least hook it up and run diagnostics right there in front of you. I had them do that for me on a 3GS. Again, I'm not sold completely on either OS and really wanted to give android a try. Just not sure its time to play beta tester for the 4G network or this hardware. I may wait to see what this new LG Spectrum looks like. Although everywhere I read there are few people who like phones from LG. But the specs indicate it will have a great screen, removable battery and upgradable memory for starters. Good luck getting things worked out.

  • Does Apple still waive the restocking fee of iphone 4??

I bought my iPhone4 3 days ago and had to get an exchange because of a faulty on my iPhone. However, they gave me a refurbished one. I don't want to take this, so that I want to get a refund and buy a new one.
I remember Apple had waived the restocking fee, but I don't know they still keep that policy.
Does anyone know about it? If it sill applies, when are they going to change the policy?

An exchange under warranty is called a service unit and is provided in a plain box with the iPhone only regardless if new or refurbished and there should be no way to tell the difference. An exchange under warranty includes the iPhone only since all other package contents included with the retail sales box do not need to be exchanged.
I believe the restocking fee for the iPhone 4 continues to be waived due to the unwarranted hysteria over the antenna, but this is for someone returning the iPhone for payment credit and not purchasing another because they are unhappy with it and want a different make and model.

  • Target iPad restocking fee

HI, I was wondering what the restocking fee for an unopened iPad would be at Target, within the returning policy days. Some places say 15% but I don't see anything on Target's website about it. Does

I returned an unopened iPad 16gb at Target because I wanted the slate color, not the white. There was no restocking fee.

  • ATT restocking fee - waived after press conference ??

I bought two iPhone 4s recently from AT&T and both had death grip issues. I immediately went back to the store in order to return them (hearing that Apple had waived its restocking fee and was giving a full refund). Once there, I was very surprised to hear that AT&T was still charging a 10% restocking fee. I could not argue my way out of it.
As I felt it unfair to lose any money over a faulty product, I then convinced myself to hold on to the phones and wait for the "software fix" and the press conference.
Now that Apple has admitted to a problem with the iPhone 4, does anyone know if AT&T is waiving its restocking fee for those of us who want to return it??
    Thanks

Only AT&T can answer your question for sure. Did you phone AT&T customer service to ask them? I assume you checked online to see if there was notice of policy change from AT&T (I just checked and saw no such notice).
If you are asking for experience of others - I can say that I returned my iP4 to AT&T this week and was charged the restocking fee (after my best effort to have it waived based on it being an Apple product and Apple's policy to waive)

  • Can we maintain more than one shipping condition for a customer

    Hi,
Can we maintain more than one shipping condition for a customer

    Hi Raj,
Yes you can maintain the different shipping condition for one customer but for this that SOLD To Party should have different SHIP to Party also as we mainatin the shipping condition for Ship for the party. In other words you can maintain as many shipping condition equal to the number of ship to party.
Other way is if that customer is in different sales area then you can maintain the different shipping conditions for that customer in all the different sales area.
Hope I could make myself clear enough to help you.
    Please reward if its useful.
    Regards,
    Abhi.

  • How SBO handles a Sale Price for a customer?

    Hi,
I know that SBO has list prices, special prices per customer, volume discount prices, season temporary discounts, etc. How these are handled?, I know that first SBO looks for a item special price for the customer,  but after that is not clear to me what SBO does, Does SBO Looks for a volume discount or a Item Group Discount?, What are the priorities?
Does anyone knows where I can find a work flow diagram or a step by step guide that shows the way the sale prices are handled in SBO?
    Thanks

This is from the Help in SBO, hope this explains.
    Automatic Price Calculation
When you enter a business transaction, such as an outgoing invoice or a purchase order, the system calculates the price for an item automatically. The system proceeds as follows here:
The system first checks whether a special price has been defined for the item for this particular business partner. This special price could also be based on a particular date or quantity.
If no special price has been defined, the system checks whether a discount group has been defined for the business partner that can be applied to the item.
If no special price has been defined, the system checks whether a special price has been defined for the item (for the price list entered in the master record of the business partner), which once again can be based on a particular date or quantity.
If no special price has been defined, the system copies the price for the item from the price list entered in the master record of the business partner.
If a discount has been granted because of a special price, the discount is indicated in the detailed information of a line in the purchasing or sales document in the Discount % field.

I'd call them. I returned mine to apple.com last week and they put the reason as 'changed mind' instead of what I really reported with the proximity sensor issue. I haven't received my refund yet.

  • 10% Restocking Fee Question

Is the 10% Restocking fee for iPhone 4 going to be taken from the $799 the full price of the phone or the subsidized price of $499 in my case because I had an early upgrade?
    Thanks.

It will be taken from the price you paid. If you paid a subsidized price you will pay the restocking fee towards that subsidized price. Also it is 15% not 10%. At least that is what I was told at my store.
