2 client vlan for CSM - possible?

Hi,
Is it possible that CSM has two client side vlans? The reason why i need to configure 2 client-side vlans is the ip address of the first client-side vlan is running out.
Thanks.
J.W.

Yes you can definitely use mulitiple client vlans with CSM.
CSM keeps track of the MAC address from where it recieves the flow
and send the reponse from reals back there.
If you define two default gateways then you will face some routing issues. With multiple
gateways defined, CSM randomly picks one gateway. This random selection can hurt you if your reals intiate coonections.
To tackle server initiated connection issue you can use following workaround
vserver Server-side
virtual 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 any
vlan 100 <------- server vlan where real exist
serverfarm RealX-out
inservice
serverfarm RealX-out
no nat server
real 192.168.1.1 <---- Gateway that you want to use for this traffic
inservice
Hope it helps

  • CSM + multiple client vlan

If a CSM has more than one client VLANs, connected to different routers, how does CSM decide what path to take when server initiate a connection? in other words is there a way to associate server vlan(s) to client vlan?

The term client vlan actually represents an interface between the CSM and the 6500's L2 and L3 vlan.
If you have multiple routers connecting to your 6500, they will be associated vlan(s) n the 6500 as any other vlan is...you define the balanced servers default gateway as the alias address within the server vlan define on the CSM...the CSM then forwards this to the gateway defined on the csm client vlan which is also the 6500's L3 interface. The 6500 then uses it's own routing table to define where the next hop for this destination is.
    Hope this helps

  • CSM - Client NAT for routable server subnet

I have clients and servers that are outside of the vlans that are the defined ones for CSM. I am using a client NAT pool that is part of the server side address space and server NAT. I see in a packet capture that the server is replying to pings to one of the NAT pool addresses. The ping does not get back to the client. The CSM is acting like it is not listening to traffic for the client NAT address. I saw an article that talked about "Secure router mode" and doing "IP SLB MODE CSM". I am not in that mode. Do I need to be and what effect will that have on my current load balanced servers?

    Thanks. This is now working.
I see that the NAT has to be in the client address space as that is where the default gateway for the CSM is. Made the following changes:
    no natpool CLIENTNAT1 10.200.0.230 10.200.0.232 netmask 255.255.255.0
    natpool CLIENTNAT1 10.200.250.230 10.200.250.232 netmask 255.255.255.0
Noticed that a previous "show mod csm 5 arp" showed:
    10.200.2.100 -->10.200.250.1 0 REAL routed
    10.200.2.101 -->10.200.250.1 0 REAL routed
    10.200.2.102 -->10.200.250.1 0 REAL routed

  • CSM client vlan addressing

    Hi there,
I'm testing out some new topologies for a planned installation and I have a question about the addressing that should be used on the client vlan of the CSM.
In my topology I'll be running the CSM adjacent to a FWSM, with the MSFC will be on the inside of the FWSM.  Typically I assign a router-router or router-FW link a /29 range and assign the actual devices addresses in that range.  In my first test I setup the CSM and FWSM in a /29, and used client side VIP addresses in a totally different range.  I added static routes to the FWSM to point to the CSM for those ranges and as far as I can tell it works great.  I also tried the setup with the CSM, FWSM, and VIP addresses all in the same /24 range, and it also worked great.
So while it seems that both worked fine, is there any advantage or technical reason why one would be better than the other, or is it all a matter of choice?  I've attached a diagram to illustrate.
    Thanks,
    Brandon

    Hi Brandon,
Any of the two options are perfectly valid, and I see no technical reasons to choose one over the other.

  • Is it possible to use management Vlan as FT Vlan for ACE4710?

Is it allowed to configure ACE4710 management vlan as a FT vlan between two appliances? If allowed, what's the consequence of not using a dedicated FT Vlan?
    Thanks a lot

You should not have any other traffic on the dedicated FT vlan.
    This is from the docs.
Note Do not use this dedicated VLAN for any other network traffic, including HSRP and data
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/ace/v3.00_A2/configuration/administration/guide/redundcy.html#wp999787
Having any other traffic on this vlan could cause a problem with FT heart beats being dropped, and both ACE could become active. Definitely use a dedicated FT Vlan.

  • Add Routes in VLAN of CSM

    Hello,
i try to add this route in vlan of CSM
    vlan 100 client
    ip address 10.192.96.19 255.255.255.0
    >route 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 gateway 10.192.96.10
    >alias 10.192.96.18 255.255.255.0
    But don't work.
Only work when i put this routes
    vlan 100 client
    ip address 10.192.96.19 255.255.255.0
    > route 10.0.0.0 255.128.0.0 gateway 10.192.96.10

    alias 10.192.96.18 255.255.255.0
    Global routing table
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.194.26.4
    The questions are:
    1) why only work after add this second route?
    2) If they no have no one route in a VLAN, the CSM
    uses the route of MSFC?
    Thank you for cooperation.

    hello.
When you say it does not work, does the csm reject the route with an error message ?
Do you have the same route configured on another csm vlan ?
    What csm version ?
When you have the first route only, could you do a 'sho mod csm X arp' and see if you get an arp entry for the gateway.
Finally, regarding your 2nd question, the CSM never uses msfc routes.

  • Cisco Jabber for Mac, possible without a Presence Server?

    Hi all,
is it possible to use the cisco jabber client for Mac without a presence server in the uc environment? A customer is looking for Voip Client/Softphone for their Apple Macs. Instant Messaging is no requirement.
    Regards
    Steffen

    WIlliam,
I belive he could use a Webex Connect account, IPSec VPN, and a CSF device in CUCM to achieve what he is looking for. Though it is a shame that he would need to have Webex Connect to do this just to be able to login to Jabber...
    FYI:
I just tried out the CUP integration with Jabber for Mac with my customer with CUCM 8.6.2(a), CUCXN 8.6.2(a), and CUP 8.6.1 HA. It seemed to work ok (I was using VPN as well). For some reason the directory service said it failed yet I could search for people in the directory and it worked fine (strange...). I think this may be because the XCP Directory Service on both CUP servers will not start (not sure why because I do not seem to need it).
My only complaint is that I originally had Jabber for Mac installed for Webex Connect integration. There appeared to me, that there was no way to re-run that original wizard (I looked all around in the package contents...) and select Cisco Presence instead of Webex Connect. To get around this I used AppCleaner to remove Jabber, re-download from Cisco, and re-install, this time selecting the Presence option. Once I tested I had to rinse-repeat to get my Webex Connect back because that is what we use internally. Hopefully they fix this because it makes it hard for us engineers to test Presence integration during installs.
Opinion on Jabber with Webex Connect:
I love it for creating Instant Meetings - It sends an email instantly to me that I can forward to attendee's right away (most of time not with contacts otherwise I would do it that way).
I love the new iPhone app that was just released as well. Very cool. (Do not like how you cannot be logged into both though, not a big deal, Archives of chats are my biggest concern). It is a pretty seemless login/logout from iPhone to Mac and Mac to iPhone though, which I appreciate.
I have no desire for Phone Services or Voicemail integration so it is annoying that it always says at the bottom of the buddy list "Server or port unreachable". I assume that you need to be connected to VPN in order to have connection to CUCM to use the CSF device... Jabber 8.6 Release Notes says that Jabber is not supported with NAT without VPN
Also the Chat History is weak on Mac, and none existent on iPhone . Would be cool if history was built in like CUPC or Lync, doesn't require going to Finder to view, and messages would archive on server.
Plus we use Exchange UM for our Voicemail so not sure how that would integrate with Webex Connect. I believe Exchange Voicemail in Jabber would work with Presence integration though (which is puzzling but I guess it is because you can do all of those XCP external integrations in CUP. However, don't get me started with CUP/Exchange calendar integration and CUP not supporting SAN certificates with multiple hostnames on Exchange...
Thanks for the info on X-Lite and Bria, I may try out these options. I have been using CIPC through VMWare Fusion and it worked quite well. I believe I needed to install Virtual Audio Cable for the sound to work correctly. I use it through Fusion's "Unity" function and it looks like it is native!
Just my 2 cents. Let me know what you think.

  • SRM "one-client" installation on ECC 6.0 EhP: Own client needed for SRM?

    Hello experts,
    i've a question concerning the SRM "one-client" installation on ECC 6.0 EhP4 as Add-On.
Is it possible to use SRM and ERP funtionality in a single client e.g. 001?
Or do we have to use different clients on the system like for SUS?
I haven't found any information regarding this topic in SAP ressources. I'm currently using CG "SAP SRM on One Client in
SAP ERP" Release date 2008 (found on marketplace/srm-inst --> srm7.0); SRM - Technical Basis Configuration (BuildingBlock S00/S03). I'm facing problems while going through the following customizing steps:
Assign logical System to Client [both logicall systems are on the same client (001)] ==> error while trying to reference the second logical sys. because client (001) cannot be used again (own presumption: error message differs)
I've seen that some of you have successfully installed and customized this szenario. If someone could provide me any helpful information or guideline how to proceed in general... would be great...
    Best regards,
    PATRICK

Thanks for your reply. I've checked the offline documentation because i've no access to solman.
There is a document which describes the steps for configuring one-client customizing on marketplace.
Link: [SAP SRM 7.0: SAP SRM on One Client with SAP ERP|https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001201562009E]
The problem is that its impossible to cofigure the system like it's described in the document.
    Let me explain why...
SRM Addon is installed and customizing is done in client 001 (same client as erp)
    overview about defined logical systems:
    -ONECLNTERP (for ERP is defined)
    -ONECLNTEBP (for SRM is defined)
When I try to assign the logical system to client 001 it works for the first entry
for the second log. system it shows up an error message.
-->I assume because client 001 has been already assigned. I cant use client 001 again.
But One-Client szenario schould be possible in a single client or is SAPs One-Client more like One-System with differnet clients for SRM and ERP on the same machine?
Because of the above mentioned problem I assume that it's impossible to run ERP and SRM in the same Client number.
Am I right? Do I have to use two Clients on One System for proper Customizing?
Or if it's possible to use a single client on one machine for both ERP and SRM how is it possible to assign two log. systems to one client number?
I'm totally confused. Any help would be appreciated  - any tips/hints/experiences from someone who has customized One-Client?
    BR, Patrick

  • VLANs for Wireless LAN controller

    Hello,
Just finished the configuration of wireless controller and connected Access point.
I have a scheme like this:
    Cisco 3945 with WLC on SRE------TRUNK-------L3 switch-------TRUNK----------L2 switch--------ACCESS PORT-------ACCESS POINT-----WIRELESS----CLIENT
2 VLANs on the  WLC (with DHCP on the router):
    1. management (VLAN 200 for management and access points - works fine)
    2. clients (VLAN 300, all setting are same, except Enable Dynamic AP Management setting, which is off and IP subnet, DHCP on router too).
Clients are able to connect, but they can't get address or ping the gateway of the clients VLAN (if i put this VLAN in the WLAN
Interface/Interface Group(G) setting), but everything is fine, if i set management VLAN to Interface/Interface Group(G) setting of the WLAN.
do i need to add any additional setting on the switches or on the router to allow this clients VLAN?...
P.S. i am able to ping both vlans, or get DHCP address from the switch and router...

yes, just for test, i set up IP from clients VLAN on the L2 switch, and from that switch i am able to ping the controller interface (clients interface).
Just to be clear, do I need to have both VLANS (ap-management and clients VLANs) on all the switches and router on my setup?
As I understand i need to have ap-management vlan only on L2 and L3 switches. Any other VLANs go throught the tunnel between AP and WLC?

  • Client strategy for DEV system in an implementation proj

    Hi,
Can some one advise a good client strategy for an impl project? here's and example and questions i have. if you have a better strategy, pls advise. We want to follow this on ECC 6 DEV system -
10 - Sandbox (play around before doing config - no transports)
20 - Golden client (do real config here, and do development here - transports will start from here)
    30 - Test client (for SCC1 testing)
I am assuming I should do DEVELOPMENT in the same golden client - does that make sense? Else, which should i have a new client? in that case, how will transports move?
    Thanks for all your help

    Hello Jerryp,
    Our customer has similar setup:
    100 - Sandpit
    200 - Dev and Cust
    300 - Testing
    400 - Sandpit 2
Whenever we need to do any unit tests in client 300, we copy over customizing by using SCC1 transaction (client copy via transport request).
For example whatever development (code or customizing) we do in 200 is copied over to 300 by SCC1. This ensures the client dependent customizing is in sync with client 300 without destroying data.
Also, periodically we refresh client 100 and 400 and with data and customizing from 300. No development client independent changes are possible in the sandpit and testing clients.

  • System Landscape using multiple clients scenario for BW

    Hi Friends,
I have a scenario where I want to use multiple BW clients based on single server.
I have made client copy of the development server and want to transport the objects
    to the target clients.
I am aware that such a scenario works fine in R/3 and infact i have used it
.But in BW when i hit RSA1 I  get an error message "you can only use client(010)"-my development client of which copy was made.
The client copy system is 102.
Now I read a thread on sdn which said change client entry in RSADMINA table .I changed it ,but I think its cross client table and hence RSA1 is neither workinging in client copy or the parent system.I reverted back entry in client 102 and saw that development client working again fine like before.(also RSADMINA) value changed in 010.
I have tried to fix it by creating appropriate mappings using SCC4/BD54/SALE/WE20/RZ10
.Also created mapping WE20 for Partner profile and assigned the logica system.
Is it possible to have such a system landscape?
Can anyone give some useful suggestions?

    Hi..thanks to all of you....
I think this thing boils down to table RSADMINA where you maintain entry for your client.
The primary key there is 'Customizing ID' and when you specify there "BW" .You can't make another entry for another MANDT with another customizing id.
Whenever u login to any other client and you change entry of MANDT it is going to be reflected to all the clients and thats what is the issue. So you can't mantain mulitple entries as you can't enter two customizing ids. there.
Infact there are many reasons in the background as well which the sap note mentions like common number ranges..etc.
Lastly ..Ofcourse as Siggi said you can have another R/3 or CRM system etc on the same server but no two BW clients.I think SAP should not allow client copy for BW on the same server..it will help some bad efforts
    Thanks for the support everyone.

The problem is that you are trying to use the "document" soap-style :-)
If you change this to "rpc", you'll should be able to successfully generate
    the
client proxy jar. The soap-style property, is at the bottom of the "protocol"
property sheet section, for the JWS.

  • VLANs for the WiSM

    Hi Everybody,
we followed the cisco layered model in our campus design where we have 6500 switch at the core, 4500 at the distribution and 3750 at the access layer.
The connectivity between the core and the distribution is layer 3, the connectivity between the distribution and access layer is layer 2.we have all the intervlan routing on the distribution switches.we have recently installed two WiSM controllers in our core and planning to deploy light weight access points.
we want to use the exiting VLANS that we created for the wired users on the distribution switch for Wireless LAN users . I wanted to know if this is possible because as the dynamic interfaces for the Wireless VLANS would be created on the WiSM that is on the core switch and as the dynamic interface are like SVIs for the Wireless VLANS.
Secondly i wanted to know what does it mean to assign a VLAN to the WiSM
    Regards,
    Ahmed Zubedi

I would recommend keeping the wired vlan separate from the wireless vlan.
You need to assign a vlan for the service port of the controllers. This is local to the 6500 and is not routeable. This is how the controllers talk to the 6500. I normally do like a 192.168.1.x
