2 nics in one pc; loadbalancing?!

Greetings,
a few days ago, i placed a second nic in my server (fileserver)
eth0: 192.168.2.50 255.255.255.0
eth1: 192.168.2.51 255.255.255.0
then i tried to transfer some stuff, and noticed that now, one card gets the packages that are coming in, and the other one sends the packages out.
so, my question: is this normal?
if so, can this be changed in some config?

I too have the same "problem?!" ..i have a wireless nic and a ethernet nic, and if they are both active, it automatically downloads everything on the fast ethernet nic and uploads on the slower wireless...i haven't found this to be bad in any way..(except it feels a bit weird to be both wireless and wire-connected at the same time..)
if anyone knows why it would be nice to know...I know how to do this (loadbalancing, redundancy) on cisco routers/switchs but not on my own computer...pathetic

I'm unable to achive speeds greater then 1GB on any of the individual virtual networks. For example I get 1GB on the Management network and I get 1GB on the Live Migration network, but would appreciate some guidance how I should change the above commands
so I can get for example 2GB's on the Management network. When testing I am copying to different hosts (multiple streams).

I 'm afraid you need to configure your Teaming mode to "Switch Dependent" "Address Hash" ,also the physical switch ports need corresponding configuration .
Specifically, I've seen the following usage scenarios arise where a switch dependent team mode is needed:
Physical servers with heavy inbound AND outbound network load
Virtual Machines that have a network load
greater than the bandwidth capacity of one NIC in the team
In these scenarios, you can configure the NIC team to use one of the "Switch Dependent" team modes by configuring the "Teaming Mode" to either of the following values:
LACP - if your network switch supports the Link Aggregation Control Protocol ( aka., 802.1ax ) for dynamic link aggregation.
Static - if your network switch doesn't support LACP and requires a static link aggregation configuration
Note that when configuring one of these "Switch Dependent" modes, you'll also need to configure your network switch to appropriately handle traffic the network team.

NICE recorder - one way or garbled audio over SIP trunk.

Customer with CUCM 10.5.2 trying to integrate with a NICE recording solution. Everything configured per NICE documentation and rechecked that several times with the NICE vendor. However, if calling to/from the PSTN or legacy Nortel PBX to a Cisco 78xx or IP Communicator soft phone - we get one-way audio pushed out the SIP trunk to the NICE system. If it's a Cisco to Cisco phone call - the audio is garbled.
Has anyone experienced this issue with this type of integration - or the same issue with a SIP trunk to the CUCM to another system at all? We're at a loss here.

Bought a x-fi elite pro... VERY NICE! One minor problem though

I seem to be getting hangs on shut down (or at least shutdowns long enough to be considered hangs!)
It's clear that XP is having HUGE problems shutting down the various creative modules that where loaded at startup, and DLLML.EXE seems to be a large part of the problem. Upon reading the board, it is also clear that I am not the only one with this knid of delemma.
Has creative got a fix for this coming out any time soon?
Is there some kind of known work around for this in the meantime?
What are others doing to solve this problem?
If you do not have this problem, then I sure would like to hear from you.

Problem solved.
It was a problem with DLLML.EXE... not the module itself but rather the way it was being loaded.
It seems that I was getting 2 instances dllml loding when checking processes in taskmanager. All crati've startups were removed and the system rebooted.. each creative process was then loaded back into startup. I now have only instance of dllml running and no further problems with slow/hanging shutdowns.

I am in the process of writing a report and need a couple of sentances telling the reader what a VI is. At the moment i have the following text - To author the software within LabVIEW the programmer assembles block diagrams using logically related components resulting in a virtual instrument (or VI). VIs are self-contained programs that can be integrated into an overall software suite.
I think this is a pretty accurate description but my proof readers dont seem to like it! Does anyone have a nice basic desription of what VIs are or your thoughts would be appreciated on the matter.

I hate the new flat Firefox icon; how do I change it back to the nice 3d one?

With the upgrade to Firefox 23, you've changed the Firefox icon to a new flat design. It's horrible; I hate it; it looks awful. I want to change it back to the old swish looking 3D style icon. How do I do this please? I'm on Windows 7 64bit.

A nice Easy one about my Zen

Folks,
All I am looking to find out is how I manage to put my files on to my memory card via my pc.
When im currently transfering files it only shows me to add it to my Zen, not memory card.
Only way I so far have been able to do it is via the Memory card - Removable Disk option on the Zen itself.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm trying to instal the Developer suite which I've just downloaded from the site. I've copied the nine brk files and the bat file to a temp directory and run the batch file but it doesn't seem to do anything. What is it doing and what am I missing?

If you have way to much time on your hands youcould
track down which script is doing the rm'ing andthen
update the script. What 'rm' are you referring to? As you mentioned,
/var/run is a tmpfs filesystem and disappears on
reboot.If you have way to much time on your hands. :-)
Another solution that might work is to simply change
the permissions on /var/run. The /tmpfs mount should
inherit them. Setting an ACL to allow mysql user to
create files in there might be perfect. Or simpler
might be to change it to something like /tmp where
anyone can write, but sticky bit prevents other users
from deleting other files.Now I'm confused. How does changing the permissions for /var/run change the fact that it's still a tmpfs file system. I would understand it if you said convert it from a tmpfs file system to a disk backed file system.
Just wondering out loud.

I've tried that. I've also tried removing the background image styles from the css (master_css.css - in the project AND in creator2...rave2.0...modules...ext..) I did this by unpacking the defaulttheme.jar and editing files and re-archiving it to replace the original defaulttheme.jar.
Nothing I do seems to make any difference....funny how the smallest things hold you up the longest somtimes.

Dynpro - how to convert a FLTP data into a nice numeric one ?

I have a fltp data entered in my dynpro via a search help, into a decimal data .
i would want it to be of format ___,_ ( 6 positions, 1 decimal).
thus i have declared it in the screen element list : decimal length 6, with a mask such as ____,_
But the fltp is like '5,700000000000000E+00', and when selected is like ' 5,700'. So i am blocked by the following anomaly "Input should be in the form ____,_ "
What should i do to correct this anomaly ? create or convert my data in an exit in the search help ? or is there a more simple solution ?

Data dynpro_data_from_help(22) type c VALUE '4.500000000000000E+01'.
DATA wl_FLTP TYPE F . " DATA wl_PD TYPE P DECIMALS 1.
REPLACE ',' WITH '.' INTO dynpro_data_from_help.
wl_fltp = dynpro_data_from_help.
wl_PD = wl_fltp.
write wl_PD to dynpro_data_from_help.
shift dynpro_data_from_help right deleting trailing '0'.

Can any super nice helpful one tell me why i have DSL,but there is no dial tone in my house?

it has been 2 weeks , at begining, my phone and DSL all down and i was been told by verizon that it' s the problem of this 's garea. ...after 2 weeks, DSL is fixed up , but there is no dial tone for my home phone. i switched another telephone, cord, still no dial tone. ...and i used my cell phone to call my home phone, dial tone is busy....
...,,right now, what can i do? i called verizon, they will send me a technician and charge me $91 for first 30mins.........i am a poor man with little english ....what can i do? feel so helpless

They will only charge you if the problem is in your residence. If you had a wire maintenance plan there should be no cost. If your DSL is working your phone should be. I would say it is not a local problem in your residence, unless the phone jack where you are pluging your phone in is bad. Try unpluging your DSL modem and pluging your phone in at that location. If it works then you have a wiring problem, and will be charged for the repair trip.
To check if the problem is in your residence.
Open the customer side of the phone box on the outside and unplug the cable from the jack.
Plug your phone in at that location, and see if it works. If it does then the problem is a wiring issue in your residence.
If your equipment coming into the house is old, you may not be able to test it this way.

I am to do a writeup on load balancing and NIC Teaming, is there any1 that knows what are the commonly used load balancing and NIC Teaming methods, when to use each method, and the advantages and disadvantages of each method and the configuration for each

NIC Teaming - On a single server, you will have mutiple NIC. You can Team the NIC so that both NIC will act togather to provide better bandwidth and High avaliblity.
Example : NIC 1 - 1 GB and NIC -2 1 GB so in Team it can act a 2 GB single NIC, If one fails speed will be reduced but it will have HA
Loadbalancing : Two servers hosting same content:
Example : Microsoft.com can be hosted in two or even more servers and a loadbalancer will be used to split load to each server based of the current load and traffic.

How can I bring back the nice big refresh button?

The refresh button used to be a nice big one at the top left. Now it is a tiny one hidden near the search stuff on the right. I want the big one back.
And while we're at it, I'd like the home button to be bigger again, as well. How can I do that?

Firefox 4 uses a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end side of the location bar.<br />
During the page load process it shows as a Stop button and after the loading has finished the button is changed to a Reload button.<br />
If you type in the location bar then that button becomes a Go button.<br />
Middle-click the Reload button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab.
To move the Stop and Reload buttons to their position to the left of the location bar you can use these steps:
* Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
* Drag the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position to the left of the location bar.

Elements 9 Organizer only imports one folder at a time

Well I purchased Elements 9 after not being happy with the products included with my camera's.
System is an i950 processor, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, 12 GB RAM, 120GB SSD and a 1 TB hard drive. Basically a system that gives me no trouble with any other software, for the most part, crash free.
I have a home server that runs on a gigabit network.
Pictures folder has about 25000 pictures.
My biggest problem from the beginning was importing my pictures.
I would do an import on the mapped drive for Photos and not all would be imported when I checked back later.
Then the issues increased when I would go in and actually try to import more than one folder at a time. All that would happen would be that the first folders contents would get imported but the second folder would get ignored.
If I highlighted 10 folders, only the first one would import.
Big big pain in the behind when you have things organized properly.
Also, must say that the organizer portion is buggy. Crashes a lot, and on a system like mine it shouldn't be slow to react which it is.
Haven't even got to the editor portion yet. Hope it isn't worse.

Now I don't think this is just one person having the issue, in fact I would check on Amazon as there are a few reviews that state the same type of problems.
Editing seems to be great, it is the organizer that is the issue.
I do feel that Adobe took their time responding on here as you can see from some of the comments.
Being a director for a company that does managed services and network support for customers, I do understand the need for responses in a reasonable amount of time.
I am running off a home server in response to your question.
I have a C: drive that is a 120 GB SSD with 60 GB free.
I have a D drive that is a 1TB drive with over 700 GB free.
1 Gb wired network connection to 1 Gb switches. As I said, I manage an IT company, plus I have 2 degrees in computer science and have been working with PC's since DOS 5, and computers since 1979. I have checked the obvious, and also run Pinnacle Media Studio 14 on the same system and have no issues with anything, and that is video.
If you don't recommend working with files off a network, then this should be stated up front, not as a response to a problem.
Again, no problem with Microsofts built in applications getting pictures, tagging them, and doing face recognition on the same files and folders.
Tried what you suggested.
Have a family folder that has 7 subfolders relating to different people.
Tried to import the family folder....it did, with nothing in it. Had to import the subfolders individually.
Are you being smart with your "awesome" comment?
If you aren't, you may want to rethink how you respond to customers.
Again, this coming from someone who manages service people in this industry.
At the end of all of this, many people are having similar problems due to this slowing down, running things in the background, etc.
If you want to be in a state of blaming the individuals or the network protocols, or what we shouldn't do, then continue and customers will speak with their dollars and their voices on other forums as they are doing right now.
I think Adobe would be much further ahead if they accepted that there are issues and let us buyers know that they are working on it and will fix it.
We will see how the responses you get from others pan out.
As of now, I am using the live gallery that you can download with Windows Live Essentials to organize and it does a great job so far.
Imported all my pictures from my mapped drive, subfolders intact, in fact, I just told it where my picture folders were and it did the rest on it's own.
Just would have been nice having one program to do it all.

Mail: How do I collect a bunch of email messages into one document?

After 5 years of collecting the email messages on an application we are making I need to collect all these emails into several documents (pdf would be nice). One for out going, incoming, etc.
I guess I was thinking I would just save as pdf for each message not thinking that the project would go on for these 5 years. I have quite a few docs, now, several hundred, might be over a thousand once I start looking into everything.

Is there anyway to retain the subject line as the file name like when you save as pdf for a single message?
When I save multiple messages in this manner I am asked for a file name before the save button activates. The save then titles each file xxx-1, xxx-2 and so on.
