2 Office VOIP design, and PVDM usage

Dear colleagues,
i have 2 , A and B sites, with same spec's "number of users 16 with IP phones, and just VOIP needed , both will connected via Internet using a FW then IPsec to other branches",
for VOIP solution
A:will call PSTN via 4 analog lines, so i need 4 FXO
B:will call PSTN via VOIP provider so no FXO needed
each branch will call other branches using VOIP h323 trunks
my questions are,
1- PVDM needed?? for both sites?? why PVDM needed??
2-and if both sites will not call PSTN, directly, i.e if i used send landlines calls from the branch to my central office, i.e if i didnt use analog line nor VOIP provider to contact PSTN, IS PVDM NEEDED IN THIS CASE??
your help is appreciated
thanks

Hello Ahmed,
Hope I'm answering all your questions
A-hereunder example of VOIP senario and give me your commect.
1-if phone 1 call phone2, no transcoding needed?
No. Calls between phones controlled under the same CME will use G.711 and both phones supports G.711.
2-if phone 1 call phone 3, transcoding needed?, if needed, what CME is responsible for transcoding?, how it done, from both drection of voice traffic?
No. Call will be in G.729 and will work since Cisco IP phones (besides G.711 and other codecs) supports G.729. If for some reason phone 3 doesn't support G.729, then CME_b needs a transcoding resource to connect the call successfully.
B-Unity Express used only for Voice mail?, or it has another functions?
Supports Voicemail, Integrated Messaging, Auto Attendant, IVR and Fax.
C-if there is a CME router without PVDM module exist, can this router contain unity express?
Yes.
D-when i access unity express from CME CLI, i can use below command:
Yes. That command is used to access CUE via CLI, although you can use GUI as well.
E-what is this service-engine 0/0?, is it the AIM module??
Yes.
F-from the same CME router
1-there is PVDM2-32, and PVDM2-16, how i can choose the PVDM needed for my network?
Depending on the requirements (i.e. connections to PSTN, conferencing, transcoding, etc) you will need to calculate the total number of PVDMs. For this you can use the Cisco DSP Calculator: http://www.cisco.com/web/applicat/dsprecal/dsp_calc.html
2-the AIM service engine 0, is it the Unity Express??
Yes.
3-when i access it , i use service engine 0/0, why 0/0, it is AIM 0 only, there is no 0/0?
The AIM is installed in slot 0, subslot 0.
F-what is related configuration to PVDM?, i.e, is there any provisioning configuration commands?
The most common is for conferencing and transcoding resources. Check this: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/vvf_c/interop/intcnf2.html
G-when transcoding done by PVDM, it it need any configuration or done automatically?, i.e if G711 tranlated in real time to G729, is it use a specific commands in the run config, or just the existance of PVDM make the transcoding done automatically?
You configure the resources as shown in the link above. Once you get the resources registered and configured correctly, they will be invoked by CM/CME automatically when the situation demands.
H-is there is any config needed to provision AIM?, or just access the service engine and config the voice mail?
You first configure IP connectivity to the module. Check this: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity_exp/design/design21/cuenwinf.html#wp1008330
Next you can access it via CLI or GUI for configuration and integration to CM/CME.

    does anyone have same experiences?
    thanks for your help!

I am able to work OK with office, I'm using the 'old version' Microsoft Office v.X, not much details in the About Box, just listed as MSoft Word/Excel/etc for Mac service release 1.
I get the occasional crash, and I have seen Word in particular use 90% of a single core and amazingly large virtual memory usage, gigabytes sometimes, but eventually the document gets printed.
It shows how useful the dual core (or quad) cpu approach is!
One cpu for Word to print, and one cpu to run the rest of my applications/life!
I still use this old office rather than re-booting into Window§ for whatever is the latest version of office.
Doing some playing with a similar one page document in Office v.X and Pages 2.01, I get Word using about 25% of a core , Pages using 5%, - whilst editing; Intel native Pages has 20% of a core and 80MB ram 480 virtual whilst printing, Word has about 100% of a core and 65MB ram 650 virtual whilst printing, but it is a powerPC code so Rosetta is in there somewhere.

    Hi,
I would like to use some of oracle's new sql syntax like the with clause
    Example: with d1 as ( select * from dept), select * from emp, d1 where emp.deptno = d1.deptno.
The above is a simple example of the with syntax. Is it possible in BOXI designer and if yes, how do I go about adding it within the designer.

  • SCCM 2012 Design and Management

I'll preface this by saying I dont have much experience beyond setting up a stand alone primary site for SCCM 2012.
    Here's the situation:
    1. Central Office in LA, CA with smaller offices in Texas and in SF (totaling about 4k clients)
    a. Fast 10G link to TX
    b. Slow link to SF
    2. Korea office with 500 clients (slow link)
    3. Europe office with 1500 clients (slow link)
    4. Local IT staff managing systems and software deployment in each location.
    5. Central office would like oversight and management of other regions.
If anyone could provide suggestions on hierarchy design that would be appreciated.
Originally I was going to setup a CAS and a Primary Site in the US (DPs for SF and TX), and 2 other Primary Sites for KR and EU regions (Remote DPs and what not for the smaller branches within). IT staff for each region would manage their own primary. But this
    apparently isn't ideal.
My question is how a stand-alone primary design would work in this instance? And if the primary resides in the US, would administrative users have to use the console to access the primary over the slow WAN link?
I think my confusion in design comes from whether the regional admins need direct access to the Primary site or not.
Thanks, and please excuse my ignorance.

I'm not sure what the internet cloud is there for.  Your LA Primary should be in that spot; remember those servers all need to be able to communicate with the primary, usually on the same domain.  If what you meant by that 'internet" cloud
you really meant "Our Internal Company WAN Links", then ok.  By that I mean... I presume in SF, KR, EU... there are domain controllers servicing those locations?  then it's sorta similar to CM12.
If you really *do* mean internet is how those locations are linked, no domain trusts, then what you may be looking at is pki certificates, and internet based client management.  And/Or possibly considering leveraging Intune for those clients.
Regarding console usage; either publish the console via Citrix, or publish the console as a TS App.  i.e., publish the console from citrix via a citrix server in the same datacenter as the LA Primary--and everyone uses that console (if they need to
    use the console).
fyi/off topic... my opinion.  "helpdesk" type personnel have no need to be in the console, nor does anyone who simply needs to run reports.
    Standardize. Simplify. Automate.
Correct, internal WAN links, all computers are domain joined. We will eventually move to internet management too but that seems to be something we'll tackle later down the road.
I will need to check with the other admins to see what kind of VDI we have in place.
Console access is for other admins to create/modify collections for their region, deploy software, etc. The console itself wont be made available to helpdesk/service desk.
    response to edit:
    - Correct, TX will only have a DP on a "site server" (not a secondary site).
    - link to SF would be 1GB, and change to 10GB once they move into a perm location. In my diagram they would also just receive a DP
edit 2: ok my vocab is off, when i put "site server" in the diagram i really mean "site system server"

    Hello @xandux,
I would like to assist you today with the answers to the questions that you have regarding the HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer.
Q1: The print drivers for the HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer and HP Officejet 7410xi All-in-One Printer are compatible on the same computer.
For the Officejet Pro 8625 you would first run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the front panel of the printer to connect it to the network.
    How to Configure Wireless:
On the printer touch screen, touch the Right Arrow () to display the second navigation screen.
Touch the Setup icon (). The Setup Menu screen displays.
Touch Network, touch Wireless Setup Wizard, and then touch Continue.
Wait while the printer searches for routers that are within range of the printer. The Select Network Name menu displays.
Scroll down the list of network names until you find the name of your network.
Touch the name of your network, and then touch OK.
If prompted, enter the WEP or WPA key. This is case sensitive.
The printer will now connect to the network.
Once your printer is successfully connected to the network than you may run the installation of your printer.
The driver package for both Windows Vista and Windows 8.1 is the same. Should you want the latest drivers for the HP Officejet 8625 on both computers please click here to download the drivers. You will need to open that link on both the Vista and the 8 Computers. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left. Once the download is complete the installation window will pop open. The onscreen prompts will walk you through the quick and easy install. You simply select that you are connecting a Wireless printer when prompted, the installer will search and find your printer and complete the install. You simply sit back and hit 'next' a few times. For additional install assistance and documentation please click here.
I can assure you that your HP Officejet 7410xi All-in-One Printer will not be affected by the installation of the HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer as they use completely different drivers.
Q2: The HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer uses the HP Printer Assistant Software rather than the HP Solutions Center Software. The Printer Assistant Software installs with the printer. Therefore, there is no separate link available for this. The Printer Assistant will load an icon on your computer that looks like this:
Once you click on that icon you will see a similar screen to this:
Q3: The User Guide for your HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer can be found here. It is for the Officejet Pro 8610/8620/and 8630 products as they are all within the same series.
The Officejet Pro 8625 is identical to the Officejet 8620. For specific specifications for just the Officejet Pro 8620 (8625) series printer please click here.
There are slight differences between the 8610, 8620, and 8630 products.
The Officejet Pro 8610:  Print speeds are slightly slow (19 ppm in black and 14.5 ppm in colour), letter size flatbed glass, no automatic duplex copies/scans. The specifications for this printer can be found here.
The Officejet Pro 8620 and Officejet Pro 8630: both models are identical with their specifications. The only difference is that the Officejet Pro 8630 comes with 2 paper trays. The specifications for the Officejet Pro 8630 can be found here.
Q4: For detailed setup and install instructions please refer to the two documents below.
For out-of-box hardware setup instructions please click here.
For installation instructions for Windows Vista and Windows 8.1 please click here.
Q5: There is no switch that should have to be altered when printing envelopes. You simply load the envelope within the paper tray and select Print, just like any other printer. For instructions on how to properly load envelopes please click here. The only issue I have seen is that people aren't 'telling' the program on the computer that the printer is printing envelopes. This may cause a 'paper mismatch' error as your machine 'thinks' it's supposed to pull letter size paper and doesn't detect that as loaded in the tray. If there was a hardware defect with the switch when the HP Officejet 8625 first came out, we are not seeing those issues now so the switch issue must have been corrected.
Q6: Because of the Printhead design within these printers, there must be ink inside the printer to print. Therefore, if you run out of yellow ink, you must replace the yellow ink to continue using your printer. Once a cartridge is empty the printer goes into a 'depleted cartridge' error state. When this happens you are not able to use any features of the printer. The best course of action would be to keep an eye on your ink levels. When you start getting prompts that your cartridge is low, have a cartridge on hand for when the ink finally does run out. What I would recommend is if you're not planning on printing a lot in colour from your computer set the 'Black Ink Only' feature under the driver to ON. If you do not have this feature enabled, when you print from your computer certain print jobs are sent to your printer as 'image' files. If a document is sent to the printer as an 'image' file the printer will use colour ink to enrich the black on the document. This causes the colour ink to run out much faster than anticipated. If you turn Black Ink Only ON only black will be used for black documents. If you want to print a colour document you simply disable the Black Ink Only feature for that specific print job.
For more information regarding why this occurs and how to set Black Ink Only please click here.
Q7: Your machine is designed to go into sleep mode after about 10-15 minutes. This is not a design flaw. Ideally, once your printer enters sleep mode, if you need to print something you simply send the print command and the printer will wake up and respond for you. Occasionally sleep mode has issues. One issue for instance is when you have a networked printer. Sometimes the routers don't send the print command to the sleeping printer properly and that causes the printer not to 'wake up'. This can be corrected with altering settings on your router. The other issue may lie with a programming issue within the printer. The best course of action to avoid sleep mode issues would be to ensure that your printer is running the latest Firmware. The latest Firmware can be downloaded here.
Q8: Again, powersave mode is the same thing as sleep mode. You should have no issues allowing your wireless Officejet 8625 to go into a sleep mode. Once the printer is asleep you simply send a print job to your printer and the printer will 'wake up' and print for you. It is rare to see 'sleep mode' or 'powersave' issues. Always keep the Firmware up to date to avoid programming issues.
Q9:  Microsoft has recently released a HotFix to correct wireless printing issues as they have found printing issues within the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems. This issue is not specific to HP or the HP Officejet 8625. Rather, the issue seems to affect all wireless printers on the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems. The HotFix can be found here. Once the website opens you simply select the button for HotFix Download Available. Follow any onscreen prompts to install the HotFix. There has been a lot of luck with running this fix.
I hope this information helps to clear up any issues you may have. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums!

  • How to design and develop Cost center with SAP BPC 5.1 ?

    Hi all,
Can any one tell me how to design and develop cost center planning (what are the steps to follow) using SAP BPC 5.1?
    Thanks,
    Sandy

    Hi Sandeep,
1:We need to look at whether cost center planning is tied to a profit center level and/or to a company code level
2:We could have dimensions like Account(which in this case would reflect cost element),category, entity, time with additional dimension s like profit center(cost centers can have a direct mapping to profit center, usage of properties would help in here),WBS ,projects, investment position id's etc.
3:We could look at different applications like HR(pay roll related expenses),admin, capex(to bring in depreciation values) etc to bring in data to pull in data to different cost centers either directly or via script logic(usage of destination_app)
4:For those values not tied up to profit centers ,we would look at allocating/distributing the expenses to different cost elements
5:We need to decide whether we do the planning on a monthly/periodic vs yearly level where in we would look at actual values and incrementing at a certain % to fill in as the base for our planning(using category=actual/plan plus timeperiods). We could look at Top down vs botton up approach as well to segregate the planned costs
6:Consideration should be made at security level to identify/restrict different users who needs to access specific cost centers
Yes,this is just a small jist of structure, there are 100's of other considerations which would come into picture from a business requirement level.

However the ftp link to the tutorial doesn't work, does anyone else have an alternative link, or could supply the tutorial directly.
    I appreciate any assistance.

  • Trouble with office VOIP

I have an office VOIP (Taridan) that connects to my office network. I have a static IP address through which I connect to the office VPN. Our IT folks know nothing about Macs. I just switched from a NetGear router to an Airport Extreme. The internet connection works great - both wired and wireless. But I cannot get the VOIP phone to work. The phone uses a wired ethernet connection.
The IT folks have asked me to find out if the Airport Extreme recoginzes the phone, but I am having trouble finding such an identification. Some other posts seem to indicate that wired connections aren't listed anywhere in Airport Utility but that doesn't make sense.
They also discussed port forwarding to the IP address shown for the phone, but I am having trouble identifying the IP address in Airport Utility.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know just enough about networks to be dangerous!
    Thanks.
    Trey

    Sig,
My hard drive has approx 1.5 TB Free. And the iMac has around 9 GB Of RAM (out of 16GB) in the green
on the activity monitor.  I know in older versions of the operating system, one could assign
more RAM to an open application, thus allowing the app to access more memory when needed
such as having huge amounts of text on the clipboard.

    Powershell$UPNs = Import-Csv c:\ps\O365\UserPrincipalName.csvforeach ($UPN in $UPNs) { get-mailbox -identity $UPN.UserPrincipalName -resultsize unlimited | select UserPrincipalName,PrimarySmtpAddress}
Hello,I am passing in a list of UserPrincipalNames through a .csv file into a foreach constructto a get-mailbox. The goal is to extract the PrimarySmtpAddress for each UPN. When I run this, with 2900+ UPNs passed through, I am expecting 2900+ results. However, I stop the process after a bit and have 4000+ results returned, and counting. What am I missing here? Powershell$UPNs = Import-Csv c:\ps\O365\UserPrincipalName.csvforeach ($UPN in $UPNs) { get-mailbox -identity $UPN.UserPrincipalName -resultsize unlimited | select UserPrincipalName,PrimarySmtpAddress}Thanks in advance.Regards,
