2nd Attempt at an Answer - Originally posted April 16th

My e-mail is thru Cox Communications. Depending on the situation, my MAC will attempt to send e-mail thru the MAC Mail....and fail ("The certificate for this server is invalid"). Is there a means to sync up (?) my MAC e-mail so when it wants to send it via MAC it can and when it wants to send it via Cox it can also?

Lacking a lot of understanding of how a computer works, I hope this clarifies. Cox is my internet server. I also use it for my e-mail ([email protected]).
Here's an example of what I'm facing. Fired up the net, opened up a local newspaper web site, tried to e-mail a newspaper article to a friend. My MAC opened up Mail and tried to send the article - unsuccessfully. Would have preferred my MAC trying to e-mail the newspaper article via my Cox email.
Actually, I'm not opposed to sending the article via Mail but not sure why it won't do so -as I mentioned in my first message, keeping getting a message about a invalid certificate. Also get a message that both Mail and Cox are off-line (?)

May have almost solved?
Used the standalone uninstaller again from link in a previous forum answer - turned off firewall (CA Security Suite version 7.0.0.279)
Went to Adobe through link to confirm uninstalled - installed newest version from Adobe Version 10.3.183.10
Confirmed install at Adobe, flash plays and newest version in shown installed in small white box.
THEN with fingers crossed, again attempted to go to site where content would not load....worked!!!! although I did have to REload page 1x
If possible could someone tell me if the firewall was what prevented the actual upload of all activeX? Note! I never had an error message that prev attempts did not install, and was able to view some content? Also noted currently in the macromed folder I see the icon for FlashUtil10x_Plugin - previous times there was initials like cccd aih? after the description, was this a factor as well?

Hi G5 Gurus,
The display problem first, we all know when screen savers display, a click on the mouse will bring you back to the active desktop, this was how it worked., but now, sometimes a click cause the G5 to sleep!
As for the sleep, I dare not to put it to sleep these days, because I am afriad it may cause a fire by over heating. Sometmes, actually four times in the past few months, my G5 could wake up by itself, followed by a extrem high speed running of the cooling fan, it sounded like a hair dryer running in the same room. Sometimes the sreen could light up, just like real wake up, sometimes, it was black. No clicks the mouse or keyboeard could bring it back to normal, I had to press and hold the power button to turn it off.
This crazy problem happened for the first time last summer, a dead hard disk was the cost. Apple replaced it, but failed to detect the cooling or power or display problem. I was given one month extended free service, but right after its end, the problem was back and happened even more often.
Please let me know if any of you had the same problem and please advise what to do.

I have the EXACT same problem. In fact, I could not have described it better myself. What gives? I brought it in to the "genius" bar and they repolaced the power supply free of charge but the problem is still there. I noticed they ordered a new logic board but did not end up replacing it after all. Did you have yours replaced and did it work? Is this a known issue?

Thank you for your reply. The 'genius' here in London only replace the dead hard disk, which I belive was a victim of this problem. I was told they couldn't find anything wrong with the power supply or the cooling system.
Now at lest I know I am not the only bad luck guy. Let's wait and see if others are having the same problem. I am not sure if this is a known issue to Apple, even if it is, it may take years before they can offer a recall or free repaire. I noticed that some G5s have already been suffering from power problems and a free repaire was offered.
Thank you again and hope Apple can take our concerns into their consideration soon.

I'm also having this problem (fan running, won't come out of sleep), just spoke with an apple care rep. He confirmed my suspition that it was software, not hardware as I have just had the logic board and power supply replaced.
His suggestions were to:
1. Run disk repair from the startup CD
try running OS X from a firewire drive and see if the same behavior happens or
perform and archive and install.
When the fan starts to run like that it means the OS is not communicating with the hardware properly. The OS could be somewhat corrupt if you were having hardware issues beforehand, hence the need for a reinstall. I will be performing an archive and install after the disk repair, I'll let you know if it fixes the problem!

After reading your reply again, I realized that the system had already been reinstalled. As I said when it happened for the first time, the hard disk died with it, which was replaced, of course with a new OS X, but the same problem is still happening. The Fans going at full is only because you have an application that is using a lot of cpu power and therefore causing the imac to heat up so it turns the fans on. The screen-saver and sleep problem you describe sounds like something that may just happen on accident. But this sounds mostly like a software problem. Try making sure to always quit all non-apple products and see if anything changes.

Thank you, Ag-Nate. I will try as you adivised but I con't think the fans were activeted my intensive CPU using. In most of the cases, the problems happened when the Mac was sleeping, when the minimum CPU were being used.

That's only partly right. A hard-working process will make the fans run at high speed, of course.
But, the OS is in touch with the firmware of the iMac, telling it how to run the fans, based upon information the OS X kernel is getting about the state of the hardware.
If the firmware loses touch with the OS for some reason, and is not getting instructions on how to run the fan, it will default to running them at full blast, to be on the safe side (and this "full blast" fan mode is way louder than anything you'll generally experience during normal usage, I know from experience).
So it may not be so simple as a hard-working cpu process kicking the fans on.

Hi I have a 20" G5 imac it's about 18 months old and I am having the same problem, It freezes and the fan runs really loud. It's nothing to do with software as my I.T. guy has done a complete re-install. All of our admin people have imacs of differring ages and the flat panels are all OK but every one of the G5s has had a booting problem. Some fell into the recall for replacement logic boards but the one I have at home is the newest and doesn't. I'm waiting for my apple reseller to get back to me, but it looks like it's the logic board and as none of the serial numbers fall into the recall, I'm expecting a big bill. I'm really disappointed as I've been a professional apple user for over 15 years and have grown to expect a certain amount of honesty and integrity from them. Looking at all of the discussion boards and the amount of people complaining of the same problem the logic boards are defective and apple should be replacing these free of charge.

I am having a very similar problem. My G5 imac has already had the logic board replaced from the leaking capacitor problem. 8 mos. later the power supply was replaced under the second recall program when it failed to start up.
It had been working now for almost a year, when about 3 mos. ago I started to experience the sudden dimming effect - if the display was untouched the screen would dim about 30% similar to a laptop in energy save mode. I checked and none of these types of options were set in the pref panes. At the same time I would have the iMac go to sleep after a while from non-use, and then when I tried to wake it it would stir for a few seconds and then go right back to sleep. It took 2-3 attempts to wake it up.
Then last week, as I tried to wake it, it just shut down instead completely. I had to hold the power button down to recycle it to get it to come back to life (3 times).
Today was it - I found what I thought was a sleeping iMac, but it will not power up at all. I opened the back cover and the power supply is working, but I cannot get the board to energize, I reset the PMU, but the #2 LED won't even blink. It is completely dead.
Basically every time I used this computer I held my breath that it would not work. After 2 recalls I still only get 9 mos. out of it? Apple is really starting to show it is like the "big" computer makers, the quality is going right down the tubes.

There's something missing in your explanation. If you're getting the "original file..." message, that would indicate that you may have had all your music files on your laptop drive at one point and them moved some of them to the external drive without using the proper procedure.
If you don't have a lot of playlists, star ratings, and that sort of information that you're trying to preserve, then Mike's suggestion is an easy way out. If you do have a lot of that kind of information, then you may need to see if you can restore your setup to its former condition, when it was all working, and then use proper procedures to move files to the external drive or whatever it was that you were trying to do.

It's curious that the WHERE clause includes "PROJECT_STATUS='6'", but there is no pivoted column for project_status='6', like there is for '1' through '5'. That's not necessarily a mistake, and it wouldn't raise an error in any case.
Instead of

If you can't get a more specific error message from Apex, then try debugging this statement in SQL*Plus. When you get it fixed, then you can copy it back into Apex.
If this is a SQL problem, then you should be able to re-create the problem in pure SQL.
If you can't re-create the problem in pure SQL, then it's probably an Apex problem, and belongs in the Apex forum, not here.
I don't see anything obviously wrong with your code, but I can't tell if, for example, you spelled a column name wrong, or if something has the wrong data type

Whenever you have a problem, please post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) from all tables involved.
Also post the results you want from that data, and an explanation of how you get those results from that data, with specific examples.
Always say which version of Oracle (and any other software, such as Apex) you're using.

Original posting date after releasing in ea05

When you release an outsorted print document in Transaction EA05, a dialog box appears in which you enter the posting parameters that are required for the release process.
the number of the original print document, posting date, and document date for example are changed.
How can I know what the original data were? for example, what was the original posting date before releasing?
I will appreciate any help.

How do I find my Origin Post Office ID? and What is an Origin Post Office ID?
I am getting an error saying:

I went to https://fast.usps.com/fast/fastApp/facility/profile/facilityManage.action?facilityId=100052776 and couldn't find anything. I don't understand what the Origin Post Office ID is and I am having a hard time finding it. Any information would be a big help.

Mail Facility ID - The Mail Facility ID must be a valid CRID and associated to the user account that uploaded the file.
The Segment (.seg) field Mail Facility ID must be the CRID for the mailing. Mailers must request access for mailing locations using the u201CRequest Accessu201D link on the Business Customer Gateway. Once approved for access, a Customer Registration ID (CRID) is provided with each mailing location.

Got the "apple firewire ntsc" choice to show up even if grayed out and "missing" under "audio/visual" menus by recreating choices in Easy Setup under "final cut pro" MENU thank GOODNESS because I was reading horror stories on here about this under another thread with someone trashing preferences, reinstalling and the works and still not getting it to show up...on my search now for an analog/digital converter up at b&h...find it odd that the s video connector wouldn't show the crt monitor when I put both displays through the 3870...I switched it back to see if it worked again when only the one dell monitor display was there and there it is again mirroring the screen display on my desktop...just can't be seen as an "external monitor" in fcp...couldn't find anything specific in the shane ross threads to this. I'm sad the program doesn't just see the s video connection though the 3870 though my computer does fine and will query up at b&h in regard to what might be affordable as far as a digital/analog converter. It's also weird in itself that when I put the two dell monitors on the one card my computer no longer could see the s video crt connection...makes no sense. Will report in later as to what I discover up at b&h as I'm sure there's a world of people out there using this sony crt monitor still even into the upgrades with computers and software so I imagine therein lies the solution. As the settled costs from WBS to Cost Centre contains a single line i.e., settled cost and the original postings information is lost (ex., PO number etc.,) and to get this I need to have two reports open i.e., 1st a cost centre report and then WBS line item report.
Can you experts help in overcoming this either by suggesting a report or change the process?

Suggested report is better but the RRI takes me to actual line item posting on the cost centre- which is a settlement transaction.
I need some means to get to the original posting that's gone onto the WBS elements. ex., If PO has been GR'rd against a WBS element and WBS has settled to cost centre, from the report I should get to the GR material document.

UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL POST-"Should I Or Shouldn't I Upgrade To Snow?"

HI ALL,
I posted this update to my original post as a separate post so Others would see it-if they had the same concerns that I did about upgrading to Snow.
I took the plunge and upgraded to snow-I HAVE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!! Yea!
The installation went very smoothly-the update did as well.
My MacBook is still JUST AS FAST as it was prior-My Blue Tooth still works fine-My iLife 09 and other non-apple apps work fine-my printer works fine too-and no font problems!
I do have to say that I was very careful to make sure I did all of the typical installation preps first-
Did a couple of sudo-cleaning commands
Repaired Permissions-before & after installation
Had nothing connected to my MacBook during installation or update
Also my HD was new and had a fresh copy of Leopard 5 (with all updates included)
on it-so there were only a couple of NON-Apple apps on it at the time of snow installation-don't know if that helped or not or I just lucked out.
I am just thrilled-and lovin it!
If anyone has the same concerns that I did-I would say -BACKUP & GO FOR IT!
You can always go back to Leopard 5 if it doesn't work for you.

For people posting questions:
1. Please search on your topic at least one time before posting in this forum or in the other approriate CRM forum. When you search do a "wide-open" back to all of time search. Easiest way is to search in the forum screen and then search again setting the time frame back to "all of time"
2. Please look at the CRM wiki to see if the answer is there:

3. If the person answering the question gives you wiki articles or url links to review, review those first before asking for followup.
For people answering questions
1a) If you know the question has already been answer or think so, reply with a link to the thread that you think answers the question. Tell the original poster to review the thread and offer to clarify any questions after they have reviewed it.
1b) If you think the answer should be in wiki post the answer in the wiki and then post the wiki link as your answer to the original poster.
2. If you see something that you know should be in FAQ, post in in the FAQ signup thread or on the CRM wiki.
