2nd defective GT70?

I am on my second gt70 0nd-444us in the last week. I purchased this model with the intention of installing the 256gb crucial m4 ssd i Already owned and planned to use  the 750gb as a secondary drive. I started by loading the system and burning recovery disks.  Then I replaced the drive with the ssd and loaded the system again using the recovery disks. Both times all was fine until a day later when would find the computer off and upon trying to.start it wouldn't even load the BIOS. Only the power light and fan will come on. I called msi the first time and they chalked it up to a defective system. Got the new one yesterday, got it running and in use with the ssd again figuring all was fine. Closed the lid and left work. Got home and opened it to the same problem. What is going on?  I did need to disable secure.boot to get the system to accept the recovery process. Also, both times, windows had the wrong time which i had to set manually. I only mention that because I feel like the was the last thing I changed both times before the thing bricked.

A little more information really would be helpful. "Not loading the bios" is about as descriptive as saying "The car won't start".....Do lights turn on? Does the DVD/BlueRay drive spin up and work? Does the backlight on the LCD turn on? Does the fan spin up?
Have you tried resetting the EC? IE remove all power, remove the battery, and let it sit there unpowered for 10 minutes?
Changing the time really shouldn't matter for the notebook. It sounds like there is some deeper issue than anything you have described thus far.

  • 2nd defective HTC one. Have to get a refurbished one now. Really?

So, I experience the faint ringing with the first htc one...it also had terrible network connection problems. It had worse reception than my 3 year old Droid X. I took it in, they told me to do a factory reset and bring it back within 30 days if it happened again...it did. I got a replacement and this one has terrible built quality. The white middle section is slightly off making it higher than the metal section on the top. This also makes it so the button is flush with the top, making it difficult to push. The metal hangs over the white section on the bottom making a sharp edge. The glass also sits higher than the metal making both the top and the bottom edges sharp. The sound that comes from the headphone jack is also quite different from the first. It's extremely bass heavy and muddy even with "beats" turned off. Turning "Beats Audio" on makes it completely unacceptable.
I've had the replacement for 2 days (it's day 30 since the original). They are now saying I'll have to use insurance for a refurbished replacement. So, I paid full price, have had two defective units and now my only choice is to get a used one. What kind of garbage system is this.

Why did you even except the second phone with all the imperfections you listed.  From what it sounds like a used one would probably be in better shape than the two you got,  Anything returned after the free return period is replaced with a used phone, which so states in the contract you signed.

  • 2ND DEFECTIVE S405 IN A WEEK: QUALITY PROBLEMS OR CHANCE?

Bought my daughter a new S405 with Win 8 five days ago. By the time she got back to college 8 hours later, the display had become erratic. Could be the Win 8 blank screen bug but it appeared more likely a loose connection in the display/hinge.
After a stressful week trying to get it to work reliably, Staples exchanged it today for a new unit. Within an hour, the touchpad on the new unit had failed. It works great with a wireless mouse but the system doesn't even show the touchpad installed any longer in Device Manager. Tried downloading the latest driver, etc., to no avail.
I generally like my ThinkPad X220 at work but it's been a little quirky, too. I've been saying Lenovo has a good rep dating back to the IBM days but is that no longer true? Is this the new, inevitable low point? What to do? It's obviously still under warranty. Cut my losses and switch brands? Frustrated

    Hello,
I am hoping to please get a reponse from an apple employee about this.  I just got back from the Apple store in Faiview mall (scarborough) yesterday.  The purpose of this trip was to get my 2nd Iphone 4S 32gb replaced... it looks like I'll be going back again..
1st Iphone 4s- Picked up at a rogers store,  phone had issues with speaker/antenna.  I took it Apple store where it was replaced.
2nd Iphone 4s- Replacement phone given to me had an issue with the vibration where phone would rattle, Genius at store couldn't fix it, told me "yes somthing                          is going on, I will get you another replacement". I explained I was upset a bit as this was my 2nd trip to the store (which is not a close drive) to                         return a 2nd defective device. no comensation was given (not even the screen protector that I had to buy again for another new phone.
3rd Iphone 4s- This current NOW 3rd phone given to me has a new issue..my backlight on the screen is extemely bright around the edges and on darker                                 Screens there are 6 circles that are constantly distorting images, they look like they are buned into the screen. (yes i know how to adjust                                 brightness settings, that is not the issue).   What is going to happen on my 3rd trip out of the way (where i will have to blow half a day) to the                             Apple store?  Will they just simply give me a 4th new phone? will I be promised that "this one wont we defective" again?
    4th Iphone 4s-?????
As a loyal Apple customer please help me resolve this issue.
    -Corey from Markham

I'm sure I will get another replacement the issue at hand is I am now making a 3rd trip to an Apple store with my 3rd defective phone. I mean, 3 defective products?   really?  does this happen so often that everyone is just cool with "oh, heres a new one".  A trip to the apple store is no treat.  my most recent visit I made an online apointment hours in advance.  when I got to the store i was told to wait in the corner, where i waited standing until while my 340 appointment was 30 minutes late.  No customer should be treated that way.  we pay alot for this stuff. there are certain expectations that it should work.

  • Time Capsule-unable to set up

Currently have iMac G5 (1.8GHz PowerPC G5 OS 10.5.8) with Airport Extreme Base Station Model A1143 and PowerBook Pro 15" (2.53 GHz Intel Core Duo OS 10.5.8)
and PowerBook Pro 13" (2.66 GHz Intel Core Duo OS 10.6.3). Purchased Time Capsule 1TB 802.11n WiFi HD Model A1355 with goal of using TC as wireless (replacing AEBS) and for Time Machine backups for these 3 machines. Verizon FiOS internet connection via Ultraline Series 3 Model 9100 EM. Plugged ethernet cable from Verizon FiOS modem into WAN port on TC (just like we do for our AEBS). Started configuration process, but would not complete. Diagnostics indicated nothing was plugged into WAN port. When I moved ethernet cable back to AEBS, airport connected immediately and was able to connect to internet again. Tried hard reset. G5 was unable to find TC at all. Green light does NOT light up on WAN port - figured was defective hardware. Returned to Apple Store and they gave me new TC. Same problem with new TC. Cannot believe I have 2nd defective TC. Have tried leaving AEBS as wireless and running ethernet cable from LAN port on AEBS to WAN port on TC but Airport Utility (5.5.1 - installed from disc that came with TC) unable to find TC. Tried running ethernet cable from LAN port on Verizon box to WAN port on TC. No matter what I plug in to any of the ethernet ports on TC - none of the green lights on the ports light up and G5 unable to find TC. I am not proficient with computers and networking and just do not know what else to do. Any suggestions??

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
It's less likely that this applies to your case, but it's common for broadband modems to have to be powered down for several minutes in order to recognize a "new" device. I'd try that with the FIOS box.
Tried hard reset. G5 was unable to find TC at all. Green light does NOT light up on WAN port
Try the usual diagnostic steps: switch the Ethernet cable end-for-end, try a different Ethernet cable, try a different port on the FIOS router (if there are any). Is the status light on the TC turning on?
Airport Utility ... unable to find TC.
Try connecting your Mac to a LAN port on the TC with an Ethernet cable to see if that allows AirPort Utility to see it.

  • RAID - 1 and repair question

    Hi all,
I have an AMD 770-C45 motherboard.
After setup a raid-1 with 2 500GB disks, 1 of the disk becomes unusable at the RAID set.
The raid set is still visible within Windows XP as RAID disk.
Within the Raid config at BIOS, the 2nd disk has been defined as stand alone.
I removed the 2nd defective disk and inserted a new disk with larger capacitiy and better speed.
Now the 2nd disk is visible but also as stand alone disk.
How can I repair the original RAID-1 set with the new inserted disk??
    Thank you,
    Mario

Lookout has not shown issues for any system we have had using RAID 0,1, 1+0, and 5.
    Good luck,
    Mike

  • Droid x2 connection issues

I currently have a Droid X2 that has poor network coverage, and rarely gets more than two bars of coverage. This it while I am impractically standing under the Verizon tower. When placing a call the two bars instantly goes to one or none after the send button is pressed. The call quality is poor and scratchy rendering the phone useless, and data transfer is also affected which makes other applications not work properly. Is anyone else having issues with this device? I am in Verizon network area and have two other devices that have excellent (full service) and work properly. Having being with Verizon for many years I have always had good signal until my original Droid met its demise and was replaced three months ago with this Droid X2. Since then coverage has been terrible and I have had numerous issues with the phone. The original Droid X2 was replaced a week ago and the new phone (not refurbished) is having the same issues. This is were I have began to have many more problems, not only with the phone but also with some Asurion and Verizon support staff. My phone calls started to Verizon tech. support, where I was assisted by a very helpful gentleman who verified their was no network issues in my area, and offered to trouble shoot my device. He notates service issues that I was having with the device and also believed it was a phone issue since the phone was new, no reported network issues in area, and the second device with the same problems. But problem being I called from that device, despite knowing better, since I was sure it had to be a network issue since the phone was new and it was the 2nd device having the same problems. His advice was to call back from another phone and Verizon would take care of the problem (replace the phone if needed under manufactures warranty) and further troubleshoot the device. This was a acceptable solution since I did call from the defective phone. In a few hours call Verizon tech support again and troubleshoot the phone with a less than helpful individual. We run the standard *228 option 2 then option 1 several times, reset the phone, rest phone remove the battery, restore factory settings ect. and despite his efforts and attitude the phone has the same problems of poor signal. Despite making the call from a family members Verizon phone with full service his answer was that "sometimes phones do that" meaning loose service. This was a unacceptable answer to the problems I am having with the device and poor customer service. With this individual not able to provide a solution to my devices issues I then contact Asurion who troubleshoots the device. Repeat steps from before, transfer me to advanced tech., run around a little more, and decide that the device is defective. They replace the defective device and take my payment information incase i do not return the 2nd defective device, and ensure the phone will be delivered on Friday June 8th at 2:30pm, this is on wend say.
So on Thursday, since I was dissatisfied with the customer service I received from Verizon, I again call Verizon tech. support. The gentleman that politely addressed the poor service that I received the night before, did many more test, opened a ticket to check the network in area, and felt confident that their was a issue with the phone. To ensure all problems were addressed he did required steps to send me to level 2 support (what ever that means). This man was also helpful, attempted to resolve the problem, and performed more repeated test. Didn't seem advanced to me but OK. After all this the phone still has two bars and no better service and still looses almost all signal when the send button is pressed to make a call. He says he will call back the next day, in my opinion to see if the phone has completely died yet. Another mess up for Verizon and I'm starting to get frustrated with both customer service teams. Finally Friday gets here, seem like forever if you depend on your phone and use it for business purposes, and I wait for the device to arrive. After working a 16 hour day I arrive home to activate my 3rd Droid X2. Problem is the phone never arrived despite my grandmother being at the house all day. So I check the tracking information, and it shows that the device was delivered on 6/1/12 (date second phone was delivered) not today the 8th. Accepting the possibility that I entered a tracking number wrong or something I again call Asurion support. Sorry the computer had a glitch and the device wasn't shipped despite order numbers and other information being generated. The service represented was polite and it does no good to yell, here we go again. She offers to plance another order for the replacement phone but it will be Monday. The phone is getting progressively worse as well as my patience with this issue. I understand things happen but, WOW so many in a row, and will the 3rd Droid X2 have the same defects.
Having been told by Verizon they would take care of the phone since it is under manufacturs warrantiy I decide to call them and reverify the information they had provided before driving to a corporate store the next day. Not wanting to be without a phone for 5 days that i use at work. The Verzion rep. that receive this time is polite and discusses the problems that have occurred. Already frustrated, she (an advanced tech.) walks me through the try this, call this, and reset this routine; despite stating she sees the information in the notes on my account. I complete all the task she asks and she determines that the phone is defective ( this makes 2 Asurion and 3 Verizon techs. determining the phone is junk at a week or less old). I inform her that another Verizon rep. said that Verizon could replace this device under the manufactures warranty, and that I wanted to verify this information and make arrangements with the local Verizon company store so I could get this resolved. She informs me that their is nothing the Verizon can do because even though it is a new phone under manufactures warranty Asurion sent the phone. This made it Asurions problem and mine. I do understand policy's, and many of these guidelines are their for most transactions. But many service failures during this transaction have occurred by both companies. Verizon provides me phone service, and contracts the insurance with Asurion, so I feel that Verizon could take a few steps keep a customer happy, and retain contract holders. And at this point I am really dissatisfied with both service providers. And when the 3rd Droid X2 arrives (hopping for no computer glitch--fingers crossed) will work and maintain a signal for voice and data despite the failure of the previous 2 in three months?
Needing a phone and since all three phones are out of contract, getting a replacement tomorrow could be easy.
But after the service that I have received in the last week from Verizon, I am not sure that I want to sign a contract with them.
With the billing cycle ending on the 13th my options are to jump ship and switch carriers, or wait till Monday and hope the phone arrives. And if it does show up will it work, my other verizon phones do perfectly, but who knows with these x2's.
    Any Suggestions???????????????????
Sorry for the rant. I just need a phone, and tired of technical support/customer service.

BTW, this is a peer to peer forum and not a direct line to customer service.  From what I was able to make out from your wall of text was the signal in your area is not the best.  The troubleshooting you mentioned is what most of us here would have suggested as well.
If you are looking at going to another carrier, I would suggest testing that carrier out before switching.  If you have friends with that carrier, invite them over and see what their signal is like where you want service.

  • HT1338 cannot connect my MacBook Air to a projector  -does not detect and 2nd monitor. I have a new Mini port to VGA cable made by apple. When I read online I see that many people have the same problem - Is this an Apple defect??????????????????

I cannot connect my MacBook Air to a projector - It will not detect a 2nd monitor or display. I am using an Apple made Mini Display port to VGA adapter. As I read online I see that many other peple are having the same problem. Is this an Apple defect!!???? If so it just burst the bubble about how great macs are. I never had a problem with that on a PC. I hope I am wrong. What can you tell me?

    Hi There,
I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Webcam indicator LED defect on MSI GT70 ONC-027NL ?

    Hi there!
I recently bought the laptop mentioned in the subject.
The webcam itself is working just fine. However the indicator LED seems to be broken.
According to the manual there's an indicator LED when the webcam is in use.
I can't get it to work. Like I said the webcam is working fine.
I tried booting Linux, but same deal. Webcam works, no indicator LED.
Seems like a broken LED or the manual is wrong and there's no webcam indicator LED.
The integrated webcam is detected as a Bisoncam NB Pro.
There's no updated driver for it other than the built-in driver for Windows 7 64 bits.
Furthermore I found no evidence online that the LED can be controlled by software.
In my experience integrated webcams on notebooks come with an indicator LED.
I tried the camsoft that came with it and other video capture applications. Tried Cheese for Linux too, still no go.
I hope any of you GT70 owners can tell me if their LED is working or if there simply is no indicator LED.
I prefer a webcam with indicator LED to know it's in use or not.
    Thank you

Quote from: Stu on 02-June-12, 02:35:11
The LED is probably just broken then, if the webcam works otherwise.
If its really a big issue for you, return the notebook for replacement.
This model doesn't have a webcam indicator other than briefly indicating on/off on the screen when using the FN-F6 key combination. I contacted my supplier and after close inspection in the manual I also saw a small hole were the LED is supposed to be. This model doesn't have one, so all is fine thanks!

  • My 2nd Firewire port doesn't seem to work.  Is it defective?

Brand new iMac Core Duo 2Ghz. I just bought a LaCie external 250gb Porsche hard drive. At first I thought it might be defective. After many tech support emails and trial and error I've now determined that it works 100% of the time on the firewire port that is closest to the power cord (I call this firewire port #1). And it 100% of the time does NOT work on the second firewire port. LaCie suggests that this port is dead.
I don't have any other firewire devices to try on this port.
My "More info" button on my "About this Mac" menu item just says "Firewire". It doesn't distinguish between one port and the other.
Say.. this is probably stupid user error huh. As in.. everyone but me knows to use the first port first, and the second port only if you have a second device.. otherwise it plays dead. hehee..
    any advice?
    - Rowan

I'm getting the same thing. The drive wouldn't even mount (though mounts perfectly on my G4 powerbook). Resetting the SMC, got it to mount fine, but then when I try to open the dive to access it's contents, finder goes beachball. I've waited 15min thus far.
It has mounted once or twice in probably 30 attemtps, but only ever by itself an not in the chain of my three firewire drives. That said, my other drives seem to mount just fine (a 1250 GB Porche drive and a 120 GB no-name enclosure). the one that doesn't work is an OWC Neptune 250GB. I'm open to any suggestions....

  • Which Bios is the right one if adding 2nd SSD? GT70 0nc-494us

    Hi Darkhawk,
I have this same model (GT70 0NC-494US) and it does not come with superraid, however I was able to get the superraid card, installed it and have one mSATA running in it okay.    When I get around to getting a second mSATA drive to add I will then go to a superraid setup.
Is it okay to upgrade the bios to 70X (which is the current bios version) now or would this cause problems?
    Thanks

There litterally isn't anything different about the bios, other than 1 bios has it auto-set to be a 'raid' while the other one is set to just be a normal 'AHCI'...other than that single setting, they should be the exact same. I wouldn't even bother 'upgrading' the bios to the 70 version unless it's a completely different version.

  • I downloaded music from itunes.  2 of the 14 songs on the album are defective.  The sound is distorted.  I attempted 2nd down load.  Had same problem.  How do I request refund or credit with itunes?

How do I request refund or credit with itunes?

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • GT70 2OC, 2nd bay HDD slot parts?

I removed the 750GB HDD from disk slot 1 in the laptop to upgrade to an SSD.
The problem is when i was gonna install the 750GB HDD into the second bay, it was no "fasten" methods or items. Was just sitting in the port loose.
Does anyone know where i can buy parts to fasten it? or make it myself?
What i mean make myself is that the first bay had this rubber thing that went abit over the HDD and made it sit still with preassure, hard to describe.
    Thanks for any answer!

While it sucks to say this, you should be able to order whatever little parts you need from the MSI store.
But if it was me, I would contact MSI first and request they send you the hardware, as it should have been included even if there isn't a drive installed there.

  • My macbook pro was defective from the beginning. what to do?

I bought my macbook pro about 4 yrs ago in my college year, and right after I found out there was some weird noise being made while the laptop was running.
And compared to my school mates' macbook, mine got easily heated up and had a loud noise while running.
So I took it to my school tech department and they said since its warranty is effective, why don't I go to apples, and so I did.
At first, at the genius bar, a technician said it will cost me 400 and i was struck with shock ..
fortunately, the technician found out that the laptop was defectively manufactured from the factory from the beginning and I was free of the fixing charge.
However, my macbook pro's got a new problem. The screen goes black while running. I can hear the computer running but the screen is total pitch black.
I went to apple store again to the genius bar to ask for the fixing fee.- It was 300 bucks for fixing it and they said there was a problem with
the computer's logic board whatever. I bought the laptop for 1200$ and they are asking me for 1/4 of the price the laptop.
The genius bar asked me if I ever dropped the laptop or left it somewhere near water whatever. I HAVE NEVER DONE THAT and the laptop was
sitting on my loveseat in my room and when I came back from work and turned it on to get on internet...it didn't turn on.
What am I supposed to do?
I am so upset bc I have a paper to turn in for the beginning fo the next month, but since I can't afford to fix the computer, I am totally at a loss.
I bought the laptop at Bestbuy when there was the event going on, which if you buy a mac, it comes with an ipod 2nd gen.
When I bought it, there was a lil scratch like thin on top of the cover of the laptop, but I just thought like
it will get a scratch while using it anyway and i just let it go and I bought a cute plastic cover for that laptop.
If I knew that that was something like a defective product, I wouldn't have bought it or exchanged it with a new one.
Where do I complain about this? whom do I talk to? why does apple distribute defective products to customers and make us to pay so much money to fix it after the warranty is done?
Apple should be responsible for this.
For someone like me, who's a poor student who can't get anymoney from anywhere (I am being supported by my church), what am I supposed to do?
I want a responsible answer from Apple.
or if anyone knows how I should deal with this, please answer me.
I am really at a loss and desperate due to my financial situation. Thank you.

I had a very similar issue.  I am not sure which machine you have.  I purchased 2 MacBook Pro's mid 2010 2.66ghz.  One is dead the other failing.  I am with you, you shouldn't have to purchase an extended warranty on a premium product.  I have seen a lot of posts on this subject.  Seattle Rex took Apple to court last year over the same issue and won in small claims court.
    http://www.seattlerex.com/seattle-rex-vs-apple-the-verdict-is-in/
I am sure a class action lawsuit is not far off.  It is fraudulent to sell a product that is known to be defective.  I purchased my laptops from Apple.com in 2011 after the testing program had already started.  From what I can deduce the logicboard and Lion do not get along.  CNET has several articles on this issue.  Here is the notice from Apple that is very hard to find.

Maverick is supposed to help but for me that is a day late and $4000 dollars short.
If you do bring your laptop in, print out the notice.  The guys and gals at the Genius Bar will not know about this issue.  They tried to sell me a new MLB too as well as trying to wipe my hard drive.  Good luck, I hope this helps.

  • How do I get Apple to stand behind their warranty and replace my defective computer? The hard drive has been replaced twice, the track pad once, and other hardware issues. Can anyone help me so I can get Apple to replace my defective

My computer has been a lemon. They refuse to properly diagnose, fix, and document my complaints regarding the multiple failures I have had with this computer. Also, I was told that upon my logic board being replaced back in April or May that the topic of replacing the computer altogether with one of equal equipment would be appropriate. Insofar, I have been to the store at least three times in the past month to discuss my issues with the computer that were not resolved when the hard drive was replaced in May. I was also told that the repairs on my system would be good for up to 90 days after the repair work was done and that I could buy AppleCare at the end of the 90 days in lieu of insuring a product that still had defects. I have been on the phone for what feels like hours with Apple trying to work this issue out but they are not wanting to stand behind their product nor are they willing to stand behind their warranty. The warranty expressly states that a computer can be replaced entirely if the defect is considered hardware malfunction and at the representative’s discretion. Every time I brought it in for repair it was due to hardware malfunction; however, they also said once that it was an accessory that I bought that was causing the problem which ended up not being the case after all. This is totally unacceptable. I also asked Mark from AppleCare to let me know what was repaired the second time the computer was put through a diagnostic at the Apple Store. Beachballs, Gears, excessive heat, not being taken seriously at the Apple Store, being insulted by a Mac Genius at the Apple Store, being misinformed by a Mac Genius, dealing with a misinformed Mac Genius. They replaced my iPod touch without much ado.  I was also accused by an Apple Genius of being "hyperbolic." He said this in response to my complaint of the computer melting--literally--items on my computer desk. I am either wanting a refund of my money or a replacement of my laptop. Also, I have lost an incredible amount of data on my computer due to the hard drive being replaced x 2. Not acceptable. Also, the Apple store is 1 hour from where I live. I am currently looking for employment and additionally have a legal case pending where I am the plaintiff. I have lost VERY important documents in both matters which has caused an extreme amount of stress. I do not need the added stress of an unreliable and unsafe computer. I also have been waiting for a call back from Kelly (left two voice messages with Kelly) and Mark (wrote an e-mail for which he has not responded to insofar) at Apple but have heard nothing from either one of them regarding the status of my computer. The only thing I received which was automated by the Apple Store was a confirmation that my computer was ready. I have requested documentation of what was done (basically, I am asking for the receipt) before I drive an hour to pick it up. Haven't heard anything. I brought this computer in on July 24, 2011. We are now upon August 2nd. When do I get to know what was even done on my computer? Do they really think that I am going to take back a computer into my possession only to have to bring it back shortly thereafter to address one of the many issues causing it to malfunction in the first place? I have owned 5 computers  since 1988. All of them PCs. This is my first Mac. Will it be my last?

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...
