[3.2.20.09]Select Connection dialog no longer remember previous selection

Hi.
With the latest version a new (relatively minor) annoyance has been introduced. If you go to
Reports -> Data Dictionary Reports -> PLSQL -> Search Source Code
a "Select Connection" popup dialog appears. In older versions, the item selected on last search (even from different SQLDev session) was automatically selected. Now I'm prompted always with the first connection.
Can you PLEASE fixt it?

In my experience this problem is much more brought. It doesn't seem to remember any connection in any situation.
The connection dialog now always displays the first connection from your list.
pre 3.2 if I'd open up a script an execute it would have last used connection preselected and I could simply hit enter and execute
Now if I open n scripts with the intent to execute on the same connection I have to reselect it for n times.
Indeed, if this is intentional: why? If not: please fix
On a side note: Showing a bit of hierarchy like the connection explorer in the connection dialog wouldn't hurt either. As I have many connections for different projects/customers it's painstaking to find the right one in the drop down. It's much to long to easily select from.

Database connection dialog no longer available

I want to add a connection to the connections in SQL Developer. However I cannot as I cannot access the database connection dialog.
I tried in different ways :
- plus sign above the connections
- editing an existing connection
- menu option : editing - properties when standing on a connection
- menu option : file - new and choose for new database connection
I do not get an error when clicking on these options. I just does not start any action.
When starting up SQL developer I see this in the log pane : "Exception firing addinsLoaded to oracle.jdevimpl.vcs.VCSManagerImpl$6@7d91275b"
Maybe this error is related?
I know as a workaround you can import a connection from an XML file. Tried that, it works, I see an extra connection in the list but I do not manage to use it to connect to the database.
Would be great to access the database connection dialog.

The specific error you have listed is related to versioning support - do you use this? If not, then I would suggest switching off versioning support in the preferences (Tools > Preferences > Extensions) and trying again.
If that doesn't work, the error you list has been reported (along with a number of other errors, which you may or may not be getting) in Start-up error "DatabaseConnections has no JNDI context so cannot list ..." - do you have an ssoShell.exe running? If so, does killing it help SQL Developer?

I see no direct connection.. a printer and the computer setup for internet are not related.
But it sounds like the router in the wife's office is now in the wrong mode..
If you have an existing main router replace the second router for a switch .. that is the easy way.
Otherwise you need to bridge the router if it has that option.. most do not. Or use wan bypass.. where you turn off the dhcp server in the router and fix its ip to match the range of the main router.. this is the hassle of using router as a switch.
BUT I am making a huge number of assumptions.
What I need is the full network layout.. a quick picture would help.
I need main modem.. main router.. (maybe same box or different).. make model and current IP address and how dhcp is setup.
I need secondary router.. if that is what it is, IP and settings.
I want the printer type and model. How it is connected.
BTW I much prefer to see a network printer plugged into the network rather than usb.. it is only a matter of sorting the IP settings and driver pointing to the network rather than local.
Or you should think of it as a broken washing machine and call the technician.. who could fix the whole lot in an hour.

Connection Dialog Box Pops Up When a Report is Called From Forms

Hi ,
Some times when calling a report from forms using RUN_PRODUCT, a connection dialog box is popped up. We are using forms6i (Version 6.0.8.8.0) client-server.This behavior occurred on a specific pc while many other pc work fine.
I found a relevant document in metalink (docid:156232.1 https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:4126992859688402901::::p14_database_id,p14_docid,p14_show_header,p14_show_help,p14_black_frame,p14_font:NOT,156232.1,1,1,1,helvetica ) saying that the database user must have the ALTER_SESSION privilege.In out case user has that privilege through CONNECT role.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button

Spreadsheet Add-in connect dialog box do not appear after clean EPM-install

Clean install of EPM with allmost all values default.
version 11.1.2.1 on Win server 2008R2 and office 2010 32bit.
Smartview seems to function properly.
My impression from the documentation is that an installation of spreadsheet add-in does not require any post configuration, but maybe I am misstaken.
So what needs to be done for spreadsheet add-in to show connect dialog box?
Grant some kind of access in shared services?
Change some environment variable?
etc etc.

Seems as if there is something fishy with the Essbase Java API, can this cause trouble for the Add-in?
When using the foundation diagnostic tool I get:

Connect dialog - JDBC Database string

I'm trying to use Query Builder (or any other tool that must connect to a database) on my Informix DBMS (through JDBC). When Connect dialog apperas I enter User Name, Password and... yes what about Database?? I tried to use full URL (like jdbc:informix-sqli://hostname:port/database:INFORMIXSERVER=xxx),
only hostname:port/database:INFORMIXSERVER=xxx (assuming, that Reports will use settings from jdbcpds.conf) and just basename. Nothing worked. Either i got message:
"REP-501: Unable to connect to the specified database
ORA-06401: NETCMN: (something about wrong designate of driver)"
or:
"REP-501: Unable to connect to the specified database
ORA-12154: TNS: Can't count service name"

thank you for quick answer but I'm affraid that's not what I wanted to know.
I've already read about PDS and I'm using it to my JDBC Query, now I need want an ordinary SQL Query, so I click on SQL Query icon, then I chose Query Builder and I get this dialog box named "Connection" with 3 fields: User, Password and Database. I've tried many different combination with Database field (more or less covered in PDS document).
Q: Is there possibility to query other DBMS than Oracle through "Query Builder"?

4.0EA3 missing "Oracle" in Connections dialog

I use SQL Developer on a Windows 7 machine. I always install to a folder "C:\Program Files\Oracle\SQL Developer\". When I update to a new version, I rename the folder for the existing version from "SQL Developer" to something like "SQL Developer 4.0.0.12" and name the folder for the new versin "SQL Developer". This way, I keep an old version if I want it for anything and my desktop shortcuts are automatically pointing to the new version.
Well, this time, when I installed 4.0EA3 I found I could not connect to any DB. The "Oracle" tab was missing in the connections dialog. I only had "Access" and "JBDC". Well, I finally realized, that this was only an issue when I saved the new version to the folder with the same name that the old version had. If I run it from a folder called "SQL Developer 4.0.0.13" it works fine. This hasn't been an issue with any prior version.
I tried not importing the settings from the prior version, but I still have the same issue. The "Oracle" tab is missing.
So, is there something I need to do to make 4.0EA3 work in a folder with the same name as the prior version had?

Sorry, I may not have been clear. I did remove the existing directly entirely before doing the install. That is, I renamed that directory. Then created a new directory with the same name. So, both version should are still distinct.
If the folder is called "SQL Developer", I don't have the "Oracle" tab. If I rename the folder to something else, then run SQL Developer, the "Oracle" tab is present. If I then change the folder name back, the tab is again gone. The contents of the folder rename unchanged each time I try this.

2.1 EA1: Connection Dialog / Properties doesn't show anymore

i'm using SQL Developer on various machines, all running Windows XP (German) SP 2 or 3, for Java i use the one downloaded with SQL Developer.
Now it happend, that i can't open the Connection Dialog anymore, so i can't configure any new connection.
If i want to check properties of an existing connection this dialog isn't displayed either.
Mouse Cursor changes to sandclock for a very short moment and thats all.
Any ideas?

On 2 of my 3 Computers i had a previous version and copied the new files over the old ones, on the third one i never had sql developer before. So this Problem doesn't seem to be connected to a previous installation as it happens on all 3 machines.

EA2 New connection dialog on mac not wide enough

The 'new connection' dialog on mac is not wide enough, it loses the 'connect' button which is rather unfortunate.
Resizing the window cures it.

Thanks - I've reopened the bug. The immediate work around is to drag and resize the window.

New Install of HTMLDB 2.0 - Solaris - Connection Dialog non-responsive

I downloaded htmldb 2; followed all the install instructions (except the password obfuscation) and am getting no response from the connection dialog. It just refreshes itself.
I created a new admin user (using the api), in case something had gone wrong with the original admin/password combination ... no luck.
The Connection dialog box shows "Connect to xxx.gov" in the title bar, and then

Does HTMLDB 2.0 require a new ORACLE_HOME? What would go into that? There's nothing else in the download. Do I need to install 1.6 with it's own Apache server first? and then upgrade?

If this is the case, then you need to add a line to the wdbsvr.cfg file under your DAD which is configured for HTML DB:

Service Pack 3 (XP) Access Connections can no longer associate w. wireless AP

T61p with Atheros/Lenovo ABG card. Installed XP SP3. Access Connections can no longer associate with my access point. I uninstalled Access Connections and enabled Windows Configuration. Same problem. Reinstalled Access Connections, same problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Which version of the Lenovo drivers are you using for your laptop?
I have a sneaky feeling that SP3 installed a "newer version" wifi driver and didn't quite tell you. In fact, during one of my updates at MS (for XP-SP2) the Atheros wifi drivers got on a list of "drivers to be updated". I unchecked the selection before the MS update "installed a newer version of the driver". This could potentially be the issue that's preventing the wifi card from communicating with a wifi manager properly. If that's the case, the best bet would be to try "disabling" the Wireless LAN in Device Manager completely, uninstall all wifi-related drivers and reboot.
Let's troubleshoot a bit further. I would suggest this - it's a bit of a procedure, but you'll find out what's going on...
There are two other possibilities for you to try:
1) Use Atheros Client Utility - keep Lenovo wifi drivers (this is less intrusive):
- Forget about AC or Zero Wireless, and install the Atheros Wifi Manager instead - it's called "Atheros Client Utility". Often the case can be resolved by using a "native" wifi manager for a "native" card (Atheros - Atheros). Access Connections is a great tool, but if you do make full use of all the features, then it's a bit of an overkill for the regular user.
- uninstall AC, disable Zero Wireless.
- Install Atheros Client Utility
- you can get the Atheros Client Utility from here or here (don't install the drivers when prompted, just the Client Utility)
- see if that works.
2) Use stock Atheros drivers with the MS Zero Wireless instead of Lenovo wifi drivers
- only issue here is that the Fn-F5 feature will not enable/disable your wifi card. (Lenovo drivers are tweaked for precisely this purpose). Point is, however, that you want to troubleshoot where the problem lies, so this may be worthwhile.
- Uninstall the Lenovo Wifi drivers as well as the AC program (you can retain your profiles as an option during uninstall process of AC),
- then install a stock Atheros-based wifi driver (if you need a link I'll post it here), then try to see if Windows wifi manager (Zero wireless) will "see" any AP's. If it does, then it means something's up with either AC or Lenovo wifi drivers, or both. If it still doesn't see it, then something inclued in SP3 could be to blame and more thorough (re)search would be required.
Otherwise, you may also want to take a peek at MSDN forums to see if others are experiencing Wifi issues due to SP3.

You could also try a reset and see if it's recognised after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
I haven't had problems using the kit with SD cards from Canon cameras . What capacity is the card, and it's an SD or SDHC card - if it's an SDXC card that's formatted as ExFAT then it won't be recognised

No TimesTen tab in New/Select Database Connection dialog

The help says there should be a TimesTen tab in addition to the Oracle and Access tabs, but there is not.

Times Ten Data Manager service is up and running, I can connect to TT databases using ttisql utility and everything works fine. The "About->Extensions" shows Oracle SQL Developer Extension oracle.sqldeveloper.timesten 1.5.1.1.2 Loaded. CLASSPATH=c:\TimesTen\tt70_32\lib\ttjdbc5.jar is added to the class path.
Unfortunately, the TimesTen tab is not visible in the New Connection wizzard, and adding TimesTen JDBC driver by hand brings it up, but the tab is useless and every attempt to define the connection to a TT database results in the same error as in the previous post.
I'd appreciate any help.

Stupid me, when running SQL Developer from Launchy or TotalCommander the DOS session was not reading the environment correctly. I was looking at Start->Run->Cmd environment (with CLASSPATH set correctly), but running SQL Developer from TotalCommander and Launchy.

I have try to downlod the latest version but I am getting the same error.
When I try to see parameters in the preference dialog, the righ pane of the preference screen it not changing when I select other options.
I am a litle bit lost...
This is installed on Windows Server 2008 R2. What is strange is that the problem occurs only with the administrator user and not with an other user who is also member of the administrators group.

When I click on View > Connections, Raptor does not do anything.
My coworker system has Windows 2000 and the same version of java. Beside that, there are so many other variables. I am not sure what to look for. Could you please give me more information on what to look for?
When I open Raptor, it does not display Connection Tab by default.

Screen sharing connect dialog hung

last nite i tried 2 connect 2 a m.b.pro (running 10.6.8) over wifi from my 10.7.4 m.b.pro. it was still spinning when i closed up 4 the nite, and now this morning the dialog is still spinning, and even when selected, the dialog's cancel button is disabled...see attached screengrab:
also note that even tho the dialog is selected, the menubar still shows the previous f/g app (ffx as i type this msg;-) so i don't even kow what process 2 kill;-\
perhaps i should file a bug report, but i'll have 2 figure out again where apple hides that;-\
also note that i am able 2 screen share no problem w/ my 10.6.8 minimac (ethernetted to the wifi router) so the only difference is wifi2wifi...nope: i just tried s.s'ing from the minimac to the problem m.b. (via s.s from my m.b.) and got the same hung dialog:
bouncing screen sharing doesn't help, but bouncing finder allowed s.s. to finally go thru, but the dialog is still there:-( now i got 2 machines w/zombie dialogs:-P

No, not looking to disable Screen Sharing, just to clear the dialog box (it floats above all other windows) without restarting.
Found this post that resolves the issue:
"This happens to me often if I have a problem connecting a remote computer -- those connecting windows just never go away if they hang. The issue is that NetAuthAgent is hanging. To get rid of these without rebooting:
From GUI:
1. Launch the Activity Monitor program.
2. In the Process Name list, look for "NetAuthAgent". It may show as "Not Responding".
3. Select NetAuthAgent, and then click Quit Process (the red stop sign button at the top of the Activity Monitor window). Then, click Force Quit.
From Terminial:
1. ps ax | grep NetAuthAgent
2. kill <pid-of-the-process-found-above>
This should get rid of the dialog boxes and the hung process, and VNC/Screen Sharing should continue to work, as it will launch NetAuthAgent again when it needs it."
This did just what I was looking to do!
