64 bit OEL install hangs at installing dogtail in OVM 2.2

I recently upgraded my server to OVM 2.2 and swapped out the dual core AMDs to quad core AMDs at the same time.
Since then I have been unable to create any 64 bit OEL servers. In every instance the install hangs when Installing dogtail-0.6.1-2.el5.noarch
This used to work at 2.1.5 and I can deploy the existing templates, but they are OEL 5.3.

2 new updates
1) I get the same errors when trying a command line install
2) I can successfully create fully virtualised VMs
So if all else fails I can create fully virtualised VMs and then convert them, which is a bit of a pain but will at least give me working templates.

    Windows XP right?
Then you need to install this patch before installing ZCM agent: An application that installs a mirror driver over a Terminal Services session may stop responding on a Windows XP-based computer

  • CF 9 install hangs on "installing merge module"

Fought with this issue for a day. Running Win7 Pro, Avira Anti-Virus, Comodo Firewall and Threatfire.
Here is what I did to get it to work:
    1) Disable firewall and antivirus - did not kill processes, just turned off in each control panel.
    2) Use IE to download the installer BUT do not save, select RUN and install.
    3) Installed fine - did same for the 9.0.1 update(remember to stop CF and IIS services before updating)
Could have been the anti-virus and/or firewall - or a corrupt installer was downloaded(tho I did this about 5 times). I also tried downloading installer and running as administrator - didn't work. Only selecting RUN instead of SAVE worked.
    Remember to reboot afterward.

    Hi Jack,
Perhaps there will be some detail to help resolve in the install log. Read install log check for Error / Warnings. There is usually a shortcut on desktop to:
    ColdFusion9\Adobe_ColdFusion_9_InstallLog.log

    It worked here =]

  • ESXi install hangs at install splash screen

I found this exact issue being described on VMware's message board below and it's referncing firmware updates.
Has anyone else seen this and what was your fix?
    http://communities.vmware.com/thread/325678

I don't know which firmware you are running, but I ran into an issue with USB legacy support in the BIOS that would cause ESXi to hang on boot.  It didn't do it on all the blades.....
Here is a link that discusses it..... not sure if this is what you are running into this issue or not....
The fix is to disable Legacy USB support in the BIOS.

  • OS X Lion Server hangs on install ("authenticating")

I'm trying to update my headless/keyboardless/mouseless Mac Mini Server (mid-2010) running OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard Server. I've been able to download Server.app from the App Store without problem, but when I run it, it asks for my admin password and hangs at the "Configuring Services" dialog with an "Authenticating" message in the bottom left corner. It appears to be hanging at this authentication bit.
    WHAT I DID
    Installed Lion.
Downloaded Lion Server from App Store.
    Launched Server.app.
    WHAT I EXPECTED
    Lion Server to install.
    WHAT HAPPENED
Hangs at "Configuring Services" dialog with an "Authenticating" message in bottom left corner.
Eventually times out with a "The request timed out" error message.
    Help?

I had the same ""The request timed out" error message", with Mac mini server 2010 version.
I'm going to crazy for this strange bug.
It still can login OS succesfully, but the server app seemed something wrong on my system.
(Now, I can't login the Server even the correct password is entried)
You can see the Server app is not "INSTALLED" situation from the following photo.
but when I click "INSTALL" server app,
It didn't have any help if I choose Software Update frim Apple menu.
So I tried to delete the server app, the click "INSTALL" again,
    such texts shown,
Since both Lion & Lion Server already purchased on 19 July,
I just click "Buy Both",  I remembered it seemed both apps begin re-download,
but the Server app still not work, can't login anymore(my password unrecognized),
still "not INSTALLED" on Mac app store Purchase record,
Then I got another receipt from Apple, the purchase became double-counted.
After reporting the problem to Apple, refund was done.
But My Server.app was still in a very strange situation.....
I only tried re-install server.app but without whole system re-install in the above case,
maybe I will try to click "Buy Both" again,
try to Re-install the whole system later to see if the bug disappears.

  • CF MX7 Hangs On Install

I recently had to upgrade hardware/software/other bits on my
local development box. I had been using Win2K (& IIS) with CF
MX7 Developer edition. Since the upgrade I am now using WinXP. I
have tried loading 7.01 & 7.02 (both developer edition) to no
avail. It keeps hanging at "Creating CF Directory Structure".
Adobe's website and CS suck. There seems to be no where for me to
ask anyone what the problem is, so I lay my problem at the feet of
those here. Maybe some kind hearted soul can explain what I need to
do to get this stupid thing to install. I'm having to load it to
fix a broken CF site I created a few years ago, and personally,at
this point, CF is becoming WAY too much of a headache to
administer. I'm ready to swap to something more widely used, like
ASP, or plain old HTML. Any help out there?

    >Are you logged in as a local administrator when you try
    the installs?
I'm assuming so. It's my box. I did the OS install, I've
    installed
everything else on this box with no problems.
    >It might be an idea to temporarily disable your AV and
    firewall (firewall
    >shouldn't matter, but... I've found sometimes it does...
    ZoneAlarm, for
    >one, can get in the road of this sort of thing).
Had already considered that. At the moment I'm flying without
    any AV (yes,
insane, I know) because the AV and email were argueing. CF
    install has
been tried under both conditions: with AV, without AV. Same
    hang.
    >I've had similar problems to this before when the install
    file was corrupt,
    >but this is unlikely to be your problem if you've tried
    both 7.0.1 and
    >7.0.2. Are you certain you've tried both?
File names say 7.01 & 7.02. Also, according to the
    website, the file
    sizes are correct.
    >Are you installing the software to anything other than
    the default
    >directory? What sort of install are you running: the
    standard flavour
    >or multi-server?
This is as plain vanilla an install as you can get. Developer
    version on a
single box. No networking, no multi-anything except drives.
    >Is your Windows XP install completely up to date,
    patch-wise? I've also had
    >a couple of problems in the past with some bung security
    patches (since
    >fixed by patches to the patches...).
Not a big fan of MS patches unless they are absolutely
    necessary. They usually
cause more problems than they solve. What's the least I could
    get by with,
    do you suppose?
    >What other significant software is installed on the
    machine?
Not really anything. It's a home developer box, so has email
    and word processors,
and a couple graphics programs. Nothing that I haven't had
    cohabitating with
CF before and nothing that should upset a CF install. Really,
    it's a small box
    and a very plain install.
    >I think the CF install maintains an install log as it
    runs (sorry to sound
    >vague... I've not needed to check this sort of thing for
    a year or two)?
    >It might be worth eyeballing that for some clues.
I can't find an "install" log, but there is a log that must
    be from a previous
install (implying it's not doing a complete uninstall) that
    seems very upset that

No, I agree, I've never had a problem with it before, and
    I've been using it
since around 2001. But the past 18 months I have had nothing
    but trouble
with CF, it's maintenance, and now this install. It's really
    becoming too
much overhead to deal with. I'm sure it's just that there's a
    bit flipped
somewhere in the XP IIS stuff, but I don't do this often
    enough to say,
"oh, of course!, There!" I didn't want to go to XP, but had
    no choice.
Hopefully, this time next year I'll be using Linux. One of
    the main reasons
I haven't moved yet was CF was slow to get a Linux version.
    Now that there
is, I hope to get to try it out. Eventually.
Thanks for the help. I'll look at removing all CF bits, see
    what patches are
    out, and try again.

  • Adobe Reader install hang

Hi, I'm trying to install Adobe Reader (Windows 7, 64-bit, Firefox, have tried installing both v.9.4 English and 10.1.1. English) and the install hangs halfway through each time I've tried. It downloads fine. Anyone have any insights? Thanks!

You may want to try the following.
Remove all traces of Reader (not only the program) from your system using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can produce problems with Win 7, but you can still download it from from places like
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Then, download the Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
    and perform a clean install.

  • Steam hangs on "Installing breakpad exception handler..."

For a while now whenever I run "steam", I get the following:
Running Steam on arch rolling 64-bit
    STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(0_client)
It then hangs there indefinitely. For the record, it always says "appid(steam)/version(0_client)", never "appid(steam)/version($x_client)", where $x is some natural number greater than 0.
I seem to get this regardless of how I launch steam. I've tried disabling STEAM_RUNTIME, I've tried seeing what strace would turn up (if you want me to post the output of "strace steam", I can), and I've also tried deleting the cache and even completely wiping steam off my machine and re-installing it fresh. Nothing seems to work. I'm pretty sure I've installed all the lib32 packages required - in fact, I don't think Steam is even reaching the point where it checks those dependencies. I'm really not sure where to go from here as Steam is not officially supported on Arch, the documentation is sparse, and yet I've gotten Steam to work on my machine about a year ago under an earlier version of my current setup.
    Any thoughts?

Not sure what I'm looking for, it appears like it has all its dependencies.
    $ ldd ~/.steam/bin/steam

    libXdmcp.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libXdmcp.so.6 (0xf72e5000)
I tried completely removing steam from my system. When I re-installed it and launched it again, it gave me the license agreement and then got hung up on the same "appid(steam)/version(0_client)" as before.

  • BPC 7.5 install hanging at Checking Server Environments

    Hi all,
I am installing BPC 7.5 on Windows Server 2008, and the install hangs at the Checking Server Environments section.
    Any ideas?

Before you run the install check the following :
    1. From your BPC Server, open SQL Server manager and try to connect to SQL engine and SSAS engine with the install account you use for BPC (BPCSYSADMIN).
    2. Open Reporting Services portal (http://SSRServer/Reports y default) : Make sure you can open the portal homepage.
    3. Always run the startup.exe install executable as an Administrator (new functionnality in Windows Server 2008 : Right click / Run as Administrator).
    4. Disable Anti-virus during the installation process. This can speed up the installation process.
    5. Also make sure that you installed all prerequisites softwares :
    - SQL Server 2005 Analysis Service ADMOD.NET (32 or 64 bits, depending of your system)
    - MS XML 4.0 SP2
    - Microsoft Report Viewer
    - Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility (32 or 64 bits, depending of your system)
    - Additional Microsoft IIS 7.0 Rôle : Management Tools (+ all of sub-components / roles) ; Health and Diagnostics (+ all of sub-components / roles) ; Security (+ all of sub-components / roles).
    6. Make sure you use the right versions of AntiXss dll / Amenuy PDF and xceedzip.dll (should be fine here as it's checked by the install setup before the step you are blocking on).
    Good Luck

  • PS CS4 upgrade  install hangs while checking system profile

    System is a Core 2 Duo 6700 with 4GB, XP2 Pro SP3.
Installing PS CS4 upgrade over CS3.
Downloaded file unpacks OK, but when running Setup the Checking System Profile bar gets to about 90% the PS Setup window flashes up for barely a second, then the install hangs, ie no further progress with the Checking System Profile (left if for 20 mins or so).
I've downloaded and run a new CS4 upgrade file from Adobe store. No change.
I've added SP3 (was on SP2), no change.
Any one seen this or have any ideas?
    Thanks!

    @Ender
I've been dragging through the installer mud for CS4 ever since a sunny summer day in 2007, so I clearly know some of that stuff... ;-) And sorry to say so, it's simply not the off-screen dialog problem in most of these cases (which a look at the installer logs would very likely confirm). We can discuss this further off-list, if you feel like it, so shoot me a mail to mylenium|-|at|-|mylenium.de. I sure would like to get to know some of the Photoshop-Aliens a bit better (as someone rooted in the video, compositing and 3D world) :-D
    @Mike
Simply move them all out of the way or rename them and see what happens. The installer will create the folders again if needed and if e.g. you still need to run CS3, simply renaming/moving them back to their original state will still work (as long as you don't touch any folders related to licensing or shared core functions such as Anchor Service or Linguistics). If you're not feeling adventurous, then call support, they will provide you with more detailed explanations and hold your hand ;-)

I have 32 bit itunes on a 64 bit Windows. Can't install 64 bit itunes because the 32 bit willl not uninstall.

    Excellent news.
That one can sometimes hit people if they've used the PC Mover utility to transfer a 32-bit iTunes program onto a 64-bit system. Similar issues can arise if a 32-bit Bonjour or 32-bit AMDS get transfered across to a 64-bit system by PC Mover, so it might pay to keep a weather eye out for that (if you've used PC Mover).

  • Adobe AIR installation issue - hangs at "Installing..."

    Hello everyone!
I know questions similar to this have been asked many times before, but I did not manage to find the solution to my problem after a few hours of reading and trying the various 'solutions' around the net and this forum. I apologise if I missed it.
I cannot seem to install Adobe AIR. I run a freshly downloaded installation executable, but it hangs at "Installing..." and 0% progress for a very, very, very long time, if I let it. This last try has been going for 45 minutes as I write. The only way to get out of the installer is through Task Manager and killing the service, as hitting 'Cancel' just makes the installer attempt to cancel endlessly.
    I tried installing it in safe mode but there it gives an error saying I may not have administrative permissions (which I do have);
    I created a new user account;
    I "run as Administrator" and am using an account with administrative rights;
    I tried it through the command line with putting the file in c:\ and running "AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent" without quotes from c:\;
    I have shut off all my antivirus software;
    I tried downloading it with a different browser;
    I tried using the MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUninstall, and took Adobe AIR off the list;
I tried uninstalling all Adobe products and then reinstalling them, with Adobe AIR last
... and some more things, but none of this has helped. Here's what the installation log generates when it hangs:
[2012-12-25:01:16:36] Runtime Installer begin with version 3.5.0.880 on Windows 7 x86

I would much appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me regarding this! This is starting to drive me nuts.
    Thank you.
( also, this is my first post, so please forgive if I've done anything wrong or not according to etiquette! )

Ok, I understand.  So before we continue, we really need to figure out what the exact error is.  Can you, on at least 2 systems, generate the MSI logs we'll need?  Here's a document that explains how to enable logging and where to find the logs once they've been created:
    How to enable Windows logging
Once you've enabled logging, try installing again.  Grab the newly created msi logs and either post here or email me at [email protected]  I'll examine the logs and see if we can find a common issue between the systems.
    Thanks,
    Chris
