6459 (T61p) Parts Availability Motherboards

I have 2 questions for United States T61 owners who have had to replace their motherboards due to NVIDIA GPU failures:
How long did it take to turn your machine around from the repair depot?
Was the repair satisfactory or did you find faults after the machine was retuned to you.?
My 6459 CTO is now in its fifth week away. It was first repaired twice at the local repair facility in Cancun, Mexico. Both times the replacement motherboards were defective; no TrackPont and then no 1394 port. According to the local repair facility, they were then instructed to send the computer to Lenovo's main Mexican facility in Monterrey, where it has languished for three weeks.
I received word yesterday that the Monterrey facility is still waiting for a motherboard to be shipped, maybe next week. Meanwhile, my extended warranty has eaten a month of its life sitting on a repair bench.
How can a repair facility stock "new" motherboards that are defective out of the box? How can a facility not receive timely shipments of parts?
What I do know is that when and if I ever receive this computer back, it having been the most troublesome ThinkPad I have ever owned, and I go back to the 701C, it will be the last ThinkPad I ever buy.

  • Are keyboard parts available?

I have an iBook G3/600, and am missing the right side "SHIFT" key. Are these parts available? I can press on the little button there, it works fine, but it would be much nicer to have the key itself.
    Thanks!

I even divulged some of the secrets of my own company (ie Dell Inc.)...and how we focus on CE...the guy was impressed by the OOW thingi and said he would push my stuff to his seniors!!!!while the Giga whatever makes a good decor in the family room....Am actually using it to practice my Zen routine....focussin on the sense on hearing...and what a frivolous waste of my life resources to satisfy that sense door and desire...think Buddha is a cool dude afer all...though he did not have creative in his time!!!!

  • Successful T61P Nvidia GPU motherboard swap to T61 Intel GPU

    Hi all,
Just finished my first successful T61 Intel GPU motherboard conversion from a failed T61P with the dreaded "fatal" Nvidia GPU disease.  At a very reasonable price, forum contributor Tuus furnished me with a good used T61 Merom/Intel board with a Middleton bios, which allows for faster Penryn CPU's (up to T9500) and SATA2 speeds on a Merom/Intel motherboard.  I used the on-line Lenovo training videos and the Lenovo system maintenance manuals as a guide, and all went quite well.  Thanks to all previous forum posters for providing me with an incredible knowledgebase of Thinkpad laptop system problems and solutions, and in particular TuuS for sharing his upgrade recommendations and repair experience.
    T61P- 15.4 WSXGA, Intel 965 GPU, 4GB mem, T9300 CPU, 100gbx7200 rpm HD

Happy to hear that the planar swap went well.
    Enjoy your reborn T61!
    Cheers,

  • Fixing power supply part on motherboard on V560

Hello, I have a broken V560. Actually, the notebook dont responses to anything, only what event is, the charger is blinking. So that is mean is somewhere a "cut-off" (short curcuit) in power supply part. Well, i disassembled the notebook and connected a charger, well, two Transistors 4407A is so much hot. I little measuring and i get is there a INPUT voltage, but OUTPUT is nothing. I calculated the temperature of 2nd CHIP, its got a 50Celsius... Well, here in Slovakia i think on all repair shops is says "only motherboard replace". But i think is another way to fix it homemade. Im not a electric newbie so i will maybe take that.. But, my question is, it is trouble only on that transistor or something other? Or, what u will be recommanding to try measure etc.. ? :-)
    Thank u

  • G570 parts availability-metal palmrest

I've seen that some of the higher end g570's came with a metal palmrest and i'd like to upgrade mine with the plastic one.  I know it requires some minor disassembly of the laptop but that's not an issue for me.  Where would I get such a part and what models came with it?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Does anyone know if apple has the parts available to fixed a cracked iPhone5c screen?

has anyone heard yet whether or not they have the parts to fixed a cracked screen on the iphone5c

    Yes they have parts.

  • Why Isn't the iPhone 5c front part available in white? Not just black?

I was just wandering because I think they're should he too options either a black iPhone & a white one.

That was a decision by Apple. Only they know the reason. On a side note to help you learn English, it should have been there instead of they're and two instead of too. The he was a typo for be. I have done those sometimes.

  • T61p motherboard in T61

    Howdy y'all!
I've got an elderly T61 I've become rather fond of after using it for school and decided it could use an upgrade. I'd like an Nvidia motherboard (yes I know about the issues). But I've got two questions.
    Firstly: could I use a T61p motherboard in a T61?
Secondly, would that get me anything (looking for an uprated graphics card), and would there be any hardware hacking involved (bigger fan, new heat pipes needed)?
    TIA!
    Loaded T61, 2011 15" MacBook Pro, 2007 13" Macbook
    The trial never ends, Picard.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The T61 came in three sizes, 14.1" standard, 14.1" widescreen, and 15.4" widescreen.
The T61p was available in 14.1" standard and 15.4" widescreen only. If you had one of these sizes it would be possible but for a 14.1" widescreen the most powerful GPU option is the nVidia nvs140m. The fx570m is a more powerful chip so performance would be better on 3D graphics that were written to use nVidia and not intel gpu chips but their rate of failure is also higher, at least for those units built before August 2008. What we've seen in the forum is about 2-3times the numbers of fx570m failures being reported and if you consider there were vastly more of the nvs140m laptops out there the conclusion is they are more reliable. It's also been widely reported and confirmed that the nvs140m gpu is basically an under clocked Gforce chip and there are many confirmed successful reports of massively overclocking these chips as much as 70% without any adverse effects or dangerous temps, however I recommend caution when pushing hardware beyond it's design limits, but if you monitor temps and are careful you can probably get performance approaching that of an fx570m.
    Good Luck
ps. If installing an nVidia FX570m board in an NVS140m model no modifications are needed, if installing in an Intel model you will need a discrete heatsink/fan assembly.

  • T400 & Best Motherboard Available 2012

    Evening All,
I currently have a Lenovo T400 (7417-CTO), and have loved it since its first bootup.  I've upgraded a handful of components, including the drive and memory (Samsung SSD 830 series and 8GB RAM).  I'd really like to upgrade my motherboard for a few reasons:
    - Need more video card power.  Currently running the onboard Intel card (didn't upgrade to discrete when purchased).
    - I want to capitalize on my new SSD's full potential (Sata III).
What's the best available motherboard for the T400 series in terms of an upgrade?  Would a new T420 motherboard with an Nvidia chip fit the casing of a T400, and be compatible (i.e. keyboard, buttons, lights, etc)?
    Thanks a bunch everyone,
    Benjamin

Might be about time for a T420?
Another option is find an Advanced Dock (not mini-dock).  ebay has them.  You can put in a lower-power video card (under 50 watt), possibly as high as an AMD 5570/6570.  You will want to search around for other's experience - this is now a bit of an old solution as well.

  • Project Summary Web Part Not Available

    Hello,
We are running SharePoint 2013 Enterprise edition and have created a standard team site and have added in Tasks and a Calendar. We are now wanting to add the Project Summary Web Part but when I click on Edit > Insert > Web Part > Content Rollup
(which is where I think it should be) there is no sign of it.
Is that web part available on all site templates or does there have to be something done to the site to get it?
    Many thanks.
    Kind Regards,
    Stephen

    Hello,
Typically about 5 minutes after posting this I had a flash of inspiration and went into Manage Site Features options to discover that there is a site feature called Project Functionality that when activated automatically adds the Project Summary web part
to the home page of the site.
    Kind Regards,
    Stephen

  • I've been told the backlight fuse on my iPad has fused on the motherboard-is this easy to fix?i

can you tell me if you can fix a fused backlight fuse on the iPad mini motherboard?

The iPad mini is not user repairable .There are no genuine parts available to anyone and once opened the device no longer will get any support from Apple
of any description including this Apple hosted Community
Apple Stores will sell an Out of Warranty exchange unit identical to the donor device price between $199 and $299 depending on generation

  • Replaced T61 motherboard, LCD still does not work!

The LCD on my Thinkpad T61 recently died.  I started by ordering a new inverter, since that was a possible cheap fix for the problem.  When the first replacement inverter did not work, I tried another one, and the LCD still did not work.  Because the laptop outputted fine to an external monitor, I was led to believe (from reading many forum posts online) that the issue may either be with my Nvidia 140M graphics card or with a fuse on the motherboard delivering power to the internal LCD.  When I held a flashlight to the LCD, I could not see anything at all (not even a faint display, as would be the case with a bad backlight).
In an attempt to rectify both of those problems, I ordered a brand new system board.  The replacement motherboard had Intel graphics instead of NVidia graphics.  After I swapped everything in and turned on the computer, the LCD screen briefly worked, but none of the status LEDs on the inverter board worked (except for the Wi-Fi light on the far left).  After I turned off the computer and turned it back on, the internal LCD stopped working again.
If I hold up a flashlight to the LCD, I can see a faint image when I boot up.  However, once the computer boots into Windows, this faint image disappears even if I shine a bright light at the LCD.  This leads me to believe that something may be wrong with the backlight.  [u]However, would a bad backlight alone also cause most of the lights on the inverter board to not work?  Currently, only the LED for Wi-Fi on the far left works.  I'm skeptical that the problem is with the inverter board, since I've tried THREE different inverters (the original one that came with my computer and 2 replacements I bought on eBay).  I've inspected the LVDS cable and it does not seem to be damaged.  I've also double and triple-checked all of the LCD connections to ensure that they are firmly in place.
What else could be possibly causing the problem here?  I was very much encouraged when the LCD worked for a few minutes after I swapped the motherboard, but after that it never worked at full brightness again.

I think you've gone way overboard fixing this thing. A simple display swap from a working unit would have told you which direction to go to look for the cause, and I'd hate to think what you spent on a new system board...  and with so much cheap used parts available, you probably could have done this alot cheaper, and faster.
If you were local I'd offer to help you diagnose this, but if you have one of the common screens and you deside you want to replace it, I may have one, or be able to find you one.
Either way, good luck and I hope you get this thing fixed after all you've put into it.
    Good luck
