6500-E SUP2T compatibility

I have two 6500-E chassis with SUP2T on them.
one of the chassis is having the latest WS-X6848-SFP while the other one is having WS-X6748-SFP.
both the line cards are having the same WS-F6K-DFC4-A.
if i will configure VSS between these chassis, will there be any issues ?

  • SUP2T on 7600

I'm looking for a "final / authoritative" confirmation for the fact that SUP2T is supported in the 7606-S chassis, as stated here:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/7600/Hardware/Hardware_Guides/Supervisor_Engine_and_Route_Switch_Processor_Guide/76-sup-rsp/SupE01.html#wp1238900
If this is the case, my next questions would be:
    - where can the IOS images for SUP2T on 7600 be found for download on Cisco's site?
    - does 7600 with SUP2T support the same line cards supported by 6500 with SUP2T?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Traffic Shaping on 6880 between sites over metro ethernet

    Hi
I have a new dual site setup with 6880s at the core at one side and 3650 stack at the other. We have a 200mbps ethernet solution from our service provider but on testing we are maxing at a bit over 100mbps, iperf tests directly on the link are giving 200mbps so I need to apply some shaping to get the full usage from the link. In the past I have used srr bandwidth on metro switches but the 6880s don't support this. So I assume I need to setup  policy maps and apply to the physical interface? The interfaces are layer 2 trunks and we are stretching vlans between the sites. E.g. siteA has vlan20 and site B has vlan 20 over the metro ethernet service, site b is layer2 only and all routing and services are provided at siteA
Is it as simple as this? It seems too easy :) So I may be missing something. I just apply this on the physical interface at each side?
    policy-map POLICY-S2S-200MB
    class class-default
    shape average 204800000
    policy-map POLICY-S2S-200MB-IN
     class class-default
       police cir 204800000
         conform-action transmit
         exceed-action drop
    ~
    int gi1/1/1
    service-policy out POLICY-S2S-200MB-OUT out
    service-policy out POLICY-S2S-200MB-IN in
Your input would due treaty appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Aidan.

Ah, well that's great!  (Hmm, now I wonder if same feature is available on 6500 with sup2T or 6807.)
In that case, your output policy might be just as simple as what's in your OP.  Cisco isn't really clear whether all their shapers (or policers) are counting L2 and L3 or just L3. I suspect many just count L3. If that's true in this case, you may need to shape about 10 to 15% slower to allow for L2 overhead (this assuming your provider is providing 200 Mbps of "wire" bandwidth.
If you're able to shape on the other side, then there should be no need to also police the ingress.  Also, assuming provider limits bandwidth, there's no reason to police ingress at CIR rate.

  • Point to multipoint L2 transport.

    Hello
Iam a bit curious on how to best solve a little problem i seem to have.
    How do i terminate a multipoint L2 transport from a ME 3600X
Initial idea was with VFI on all 3 devices but ME3600X dosent seem to support it.
With the use of a VFI i would have made a fully meshed scenario.
I need to transport 1 Vlan to 3 different sites. Preferably it should be l2 transport.
2 of the sites uses cat 6500 with Sup2T
    1 site uses ME-3600X
The original idea was to use EVCs on 3600 and bind a service instance to a VFI instance wich would in its turn have 2 peers. One to each 6500.
In the 6500s just terminate the VFI on SVI or physical switchports. Seeing as the configuration options to setup VFI on me3600X seems to be missing does anyone have a tip or 2.
Its our first ME 3600X so the odds are that i have missed something aswell.

You should be looking at VPLS, while this is supported on the 7600, I do not think it is supported on the 7200 and 7300 yet.

  • How many VRFs support a SUP7E

    Hello,
I have a customer that wants to change his CORE devices, he is concerned about the VRFs instances that he can configure, I know that in the SUP2T from the 6500 supports 8,192 VRFs:
MPLS in hardware to enable use of Layer 3 VPNs and EoMPLS tunneling. Up to 8192 VRFs with a total of up to 256K* forwarding entries per system.
    According to the next link:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/interfaces-modules/catalyst-6500-series-supervisor-engine-2t/data_sheet_c78-648214.html
I want to make a comparison between a 6500 with SUP2T and a 4500 with sUP7E but I can't find anything about the VRFs instances in the SUP7E.
Could anyone please help me answering that question???
    Thanks a lot

This is the problem. The customer has 2 4507 with SUP-V I think and he want to upgrade. He asked me about one 6509 with SUP2T but I suggested to upgrade to 4507R+E with SUP7E and VSS, I think that the budget of the customer is low...
He needs at least 4 modules of 48 ports so he can receive all their customers. Regarding SUP7 vs SUP8 the main difference is that the SUP8 supports WLC in the module, and has more switching capacity (928 Gbps vs 848 Gbps of the SUP7).
    Thanks again
Let me send a copy of the configuration:

As you can see the configuration is so simple, I copy only the VRF side so you can see the VRF configuration that he is doing, as far as I know this is VRF-LITE, BTW he has a lot of static routing with VRFs

  • Verifying Compatibility of VS-S2T-10G (Sup2T) with IDSM-2 (IDSM2)

I am preparing to do an upgrade from Sup720 to Sup2T on a Catalyst 6509E.
I am not seeing compatibility of the Sup2T with the IDSM2 in the release notes.
Could someone verify if the IDSM2 is compatibility with the Sup2T (running s2t54-ipservicesk9-mz.SPA.150-1.SY3.bin)
If not, is there a follow-on product?

    Hi Kbyrd,
the IDSM2 seems to be incompatible with the SUP2T.
    Software and Hardware Requirements
The following are the IDSM-2 software and hardware requirements:
•Catalyst software release 7.5(1) or later with Supervisor Engine 1A with MSFC2
•Catalyst software release 7.5(1) or later with Supervisor Engine 2 with MSFC2 or PFC2
•Cisco IOS software release 12.2(14)SY with Supervisor Engine 2 with MSFC2
•Cisco IOS software release 12.1(19)E or later with Supervisor Engine 2 with MSFC2
•Cisco IOS software release 12.1(19)E1 or later with Supervisor Engine 1A with MSFC2
•Cisco IOS software release 12.2(14)SX1 with Supervisor Engine 720
•Cisco IDS software release 4.0 or later
Tried to configure the products within 6509 chassis, but that confirms the above info
I will check if any similar module will be available soon.

  • Apple macbook air compatibility with HP Officejet 6500 Wireless

    Two questions
    1. If I buy a new current model  MacBook Air, will it work with my HP Officejet 6500 Wireless printer?
    2. Sometimes when I power up the printer, it can take as long as five minutes to register "ready." Why the erratic time to go online?
    Thanks
    TT95

Thanks for your swift reply to the Apple/HP compatibility question.  Trust it will work when I buy MacBook Air. The HP app available at iTunes store helped us make our older Apple IPad print compatible even though the HP 6500 Wireless is not equipped with AirPrint.
Regarding slowness of HP 6500 to reach "Ready" stage for printing. This is a printer for home use, so it not on a network. It always eventually prints.
    Your help is much appreciated.

  • OS 10.6.4 compatibility with HP OfficeJet 6500 & Epson Artisan 700

Just purchased MacBook Pro and upgraded iMAC and Mac Pro on my local network to OS 10.6.4. iMAC is connected to local network via Ethernet, other computers and printers HP OfficeJet 6500 and Epson Artisan 700 connected via wireless. All went pretty good except for the two printers. You need to install Rosetta for some 3rd party software to work. It's on the OS 10.6.3 disk.
The HP OfficeJet 6500 is new. In the printer box was a notice to NOT use the enclosed CD's if using OS 10.6. HP manual was terrible. Key was getting the local network operating and then using HP printer keypad to select SETUP/NETWORK SETUP/WIRELESS SETUP WIZARD. It automatically found the name of my local network and then asked me to enter the WEP Key Code of my local network. For some reason the WIRELESS SETUP WIZARD didn't show up for the first day. Now have access to the printer from all computers - even duplex mode works.
Can't say the same for the Artisan 700 we've had for one year and was working good with OS 10.5. The only computer that could not access the Artisan 700 was the one connected via Ethernet to the local network (other computers wireless). Tried downloading Epson drivers, Network setup S/W, etc. Epson says there is a problem with TCP/IP connection and are "working on the problem" - in the mean time use Bonjour driver. I installed print drivers from OS 10.6.3 disk and then did Apple software update. Don't know why but suddenly Bonjour driver showed up and the Artisan printer was recognized by the computer connected to network via ethernet. Also had to manually set up the Artisan printer again using the printer keypad to select local network and enter the WEP Key Code. Duplex printing does not work though. Year ago when we bought the printer had to call Epson who after 1.5 hr on phone got duplex working, but didn't know why or how. I'd taken notes and tried same thing, but didn't work this time.
Perhaps this will help other people deciding to do an OS upgrade.

Thanks for response on the Epson duplex mode problem. I downloaded the updater, but it would NOT open after I installed it. The install created a second file called InkJet Printer 2 (original was w/o the 2). The updater tool is v 8.33 on the one just downloaded while the existing one was v 6.66, so definitely a later version. The v 6.66 gave message "unexpected quit", so it would not open either. Got same results on iMAC and MAC PRO. Do I delete the original InkJet printer file before installing the new download? Was afraid to as afraid driver would not work at all. What am I doing wrong???
When select duplex mode in the print window get message "duplexer not installed" on both computers.

  • 6500s TV-out cable on other phone compatibility

    6500s tv-out cable ca-92u
is it able to use on other model such as 5610XM since mini usb connector is found on both devices.
    or
the tv-out system is phone dependant or cable dependant like headsets and other accessories?

first of all, thanks for ur reply.
    you've been tried that b4?
I need an actual test result but not just some theoretically thought.
5610's camera capability on still image and video capturing is almost the same quality found on 6500s
if it's able to use the tv-out cable as well i think that would be a great enhancement for this modelMessage Edited by feimeng on 26-Nov-200702:29 AM

  • Compatibility Windows XP HP officejet 6500 (E709) printer with new HP Pavilion

I just purchased a HP Pavilion 23 all-in-one.  The store where I bought it said that they could not set up my HP Officejet 6500 (E709) printer because it was not compatible with the new Windows installed on the Pavilion.  The CD for the printer says Windows XP, Vista Version 12.00 on the label.  I hate to give up a perfectly good printer just because it is not compatible with the new PC.  Is there a fix for this or was the technician just not looking in the right place for the driver.

Here is a link for the 6500 E709a drivers.
There are a few E709 models, so if yours is not a E709a model post back with the correct model #.

  • 6500-E with SUP720 compatibility with 10g module

    I have 6509-E chasis with supervisor VS-S720-10G.
I need to add a new WS-X6708-10G-3C= module to this same chasis.
As per the cisco datasheet both the cards and the supervisor are compatible, just need to confirm this.

WS-X6708-10G-3C will never be compatible with Sup2T.  The Sup2T has DFC4/PFC4 and the card has DFC3/PFC3 card which cannot be upgraded.

  • Nokia 6500 slide & micro SDHC compatibility

    hi!
I just got my nokia 6500 slide & wanted to pair it up with a good memory card (I was thinking 6 GB, initially, then I read some of the comments in this board and desisted).
hence, I was wondering whether it accommodates 4GB Micro SDHC cards, which are slightly larger than the regular Micro SD cards. While going through previous postings I found two contradictory comments (one says yes, the other no), so I wanted to double check with current 6500 owners before buying my own card.
    thanks!
    ff_boston

oh , its been a while , I'd like to thank you all for replying to my query above , ive already got the phone ... no problems of resetting ringtones/themes so far.. unless ofcourse yes you remove the backcover and your tones/themes were stored on the mc , mine are on the ph.memory.
overall good phone.. though it hangs when manual tuning the Radio FM.
I've not got a microsdhc card for it yet.. ok to the above post im assuming it wont take a 4GB KINGSTON microSDHC or it wont take in Kingston as a brand...
I'm going to bite the bullet and try out what Knapjee here tried - sandisk 4gb microsdhc .. though i'd like reassurances.
    Cheers for now ,

  • HP Officejet 6500 e709n - Solution Center Scan Malfunction

I've recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 8.1 already installed on it.  I've had my HP 6500 for years and it has worked perfectly - all functions.  When going online to download the drivers to my new laptop, all messages indicate the installation is complete, but I can only print.  The scan function does not work at all - from the solution center or from the keys on the printer.  I've called HP Help (I even have a case number) and they have remotely taken control of my laptop several times with no scan success.  They have told me it's a Microsoft software issue.  I called Microsoft, and they are telling me it's a HP issue.  I know the actual printer itself is perfectly ok, because all function still work on my old laptop.  Si, the conclustion is that there is a compatibility issue with Windows 8.1 and the scan function (as I can print just fine).  Is there a chance the driver on the HP website is not updated for the scan funtion with Windows 8.1?  Is there a fix for this that I am not aware of?  I prefer not to use third party apps, as this is the reason I had to purchase a new laptop - because of viruses.  Help!!!  I need the scan funtion (to .pdf) to work ASAP as I use my printer/scan function for business.  Is there a fix?  I prefer not to buy a new printer, as this one works just fine, except not on Windows 8.1.  Again, HELP.............

  • Upgrade power mac 6500/225 running 8.5 to 9.1(poss?

Can anyone tell me if I can upgrade my power pc 6500/225 running 8.5 with upgraded memory to 96MB to run 9.1. If so, what are the steps to take.

    Hi, stacks -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
According to Apple KBase Article #25114 - Mac OS 8, 9: Compatibility With Macs your machine is supported for OS 9.1.
You will need to acquire a retail OS 9 Install CD in some version, then update it to OS 9.1 using download updaters (if necessary).
You can often get retail OS 9 Install CD's at sites like these -
    http://store.yahoo.com/hardcoremac/index.html - Apple Reseller
    http://www.applerescue.com/
    EBay is another possibility.
Regardless of the source, be sure to get a retail OS 9 Install CD - those are white, with a large gold 9 on them; the retail OS 9 Install CD's have a universal installer; model-specific Install CD's do not.
In case you need the updaters -
Article #75103 - Mac OS 9.1 - Download and Info
Article #120030 - Mac OS 9.2.1 - Download and Info
Article #75186 - Mac OS 9.2.2 - Download and Info
Since you want to end up at OS 9.1, I would suggest obtaining a retail OS 9.1 Install CD - you would not then need to use any download updaters for the OS itself, although there have been several incremental updates to some of the component software.
    <hr>
    The steps -
    • Boot to the OS 9 Install CD.
    • (Optional, but recommended) Run the utility Disk First Aid from the Utilities folder on the CD. Let DFA examine your drive, and allow it to repair anything it finds wrong (if it can). Doing this can prevent some errors caused by problems with a drive.
    • Run the installer (Mac OS Install).
    • On the second page of the installer select to do a Clean Install. This will not erase anything in the drive. Instead, it will install a brand new, 'clean' System Folder, rename the old one to Previous System Folder, install a set of standard OS 9 utilities and a couple of folders, and little else.
Article #58176 - Mac OS 8, Mac OS 9: Performing a Clean Installation
    • Follow the prompts, accepting a standard install of the OS. The installer will select the correct OS files needed by your machine.
    • Once it is done, test boot to the new OS.
    <hr>
As soon as is convenient and provided you have an internet connection available to the machine, run the Software Update control panel that is part of OS 9. You will be offered a list of updates applicable to OS 9 which were released after the OS itself was released. This can include updates to things like QuickTime, CarbonLib, OpenTransport, and other services and software.
Suggestion - do not allow the Software Update control panel to download and install those for you. Instead, note their names, then go to the Apple download site and download them and install them manually. In addition to being able to keep the installers, you will avoid any issues which Software Update sometimes has it does that work.
It would not hurt to rebuild the desktop file after the software install process.
    <hr>
Before starting, though, check to see what format your hard drive is. OS 9 runs best when the drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended (also called HFS+); this format also makes much better use of available disk space, particularly when drives get into GB sizes.
If your drive is formatted as Mac OS Standard, the normal way to reformat it is to use OS 9's Drive Setup utility (it's in the Utilities folder on all OS 9 Install CDs) to re-initialize and reformat the drive. Note, though, that this will erase everything on the drive, so back up anything you do not want to lose before doing it.
There is another way, one that does not erase the drive. Alsoft, the makers of the DiskWarrior disk utility program, also make a utility named PlusMaker which can convert a drive's format from Mac OS Standard to Mac OS Extended without erasing it.

Could anyone please help, how to make sure that packets are hitting correct ACL and policy on 6500 with SUP720-10GE and SUP2T.
    Thanks,
    Pruthvi

Please note that 6500 is used as L2 switch only and SVI are used for applying policies only.
