8 month wait for new phone line!!!!!

I posted on here a while ago '5 month wait for phone line' and I cannot actually believe that I am almost at 8 months of waiting for a phone line to be installed!!
Reason: Openreach are having traffic management issues for a four way traffic light system needed for my phone line, this has been the reason since JULY 2013!!!!
My local council have told me this is just an excuse as Openreach/BT have not made any requests to them in my area or the entire of Anglesey where I live!!!
I get updates from a BT team in Sunderland which are very repetitive 'traffic light problems' cannot get permission for them blah blAH BLAH!!! And they accept these excuses from Openreach!!! They can give me no indication as to when I will get a phone line and when I say what happens when we get to year point they say oh no that will never happen!! This BT team now only text me updates saying they could not get through to my mobile, they say they will update me on the 19th December but it will be the same old **bleep**.
So now I am am drafting a letter which will include all the correspondence between BT and myself including all the false information they have texted me and stupid emails (one said there are major problems in Cornwall so thats is why there is a delay I asked whats Cornwall got to do with anything I live in North Wales, the BT guy then said Cornwall is the term used to refer to a large area??? He later apologised for his error, but what an idiot)
My letter will also be sent to BT head office, complaints and the my local MP, BBC Watchdog and various other local consumer affairs programmes.
But any extra advice would be greatly appreciated.....
HAnnah Hughes

He was the one who made the Cornwall comments!! All he did was relay extra information in more detail than the BT operators were giving me, but he had no authority to do anything. It has been escalated but this wonderful escalation team are doing nothing at all, other than accepting Openreach excuses.
Some of my text messages say " we are waiting for council permission", then the next one says "Openreach have had council permission" but the latest ones are back to "Openreach are waiting for council permission"!!!! You would think that someone in BT would pick up on this!!!
BT will not give me the location of the work needed either they say Opnereach do not have this one thier system, because the council keep telling me that no permission has been requested.

  • 5 months + and still waiting for a phone line

27/05/2013 Placed order for line and broadband. Paid for 1 year service in advance.
This was to reconnect a line I had cancelled in in January as we started a major re-fit/renovation at our house and were out of it for 4 months. Transferred line to a new address at this time (different exchange)
18/06/2013 Engineer scheduled to visit. - Waited in for 6hours, no one turned up, no contact made
19/06/2013 No one got in touch. I telephoned. Problem with line. New appointment made for Monday 15 July 2013
15/07/2013 Engineer did not turn up, no contact made again after waiting in most of day.
16/07/2013 I called and told work on line not completed. They needed to do external work. Given assurance I would get a call on 21/07/2013 as work scheduled to be completed by then. It had been accelerated (had been told this before come to think of it)
    21/07/13 No one called, again
22/07/2013 I called and told work still not completed but would be by 25/07/2013 so to call back and arrange an engineer visit appointment
25/07/2013 I called , told work still not completed, would get a call by 29/07/2013 when work will be completed – to arrange another engineer visit. I filed online complaint
29/07/2013 no call. I called, no update, call again in 2 weeks
Numerous calls in August, and 2 online complaints. Now getting texts telling me there is no update and promising to get in touch by a certain date, they don't. New line needed as exchange reached capacity. Old line no good, have to lay a new one. Still being told order will be accelerated. Still waiting for the "advisor in our delays team to monitor the job and contact the engineers for a full investigation to be done so we can provide you with an accurate update."
Still more calls in September along with numerous calls (me) and 2 from BT to say they have no update!
Still being told the biggest load of rubbish as an excuse, eg me "but I had an active line in January" you "ah that is openreaches fault, they come and physically rip out and remove the wiring if a line is cancelled"   or: BT- "we cant talk to openreach ourselves, we can only email them" me - "that's funny as your colleague on the last call claimed to have spoken
with them after leaving me on hold for 5 minutes"
October. Called today. ( now have a telephone number with a PIN number) Still no progress. They started digging on September 5th according to one email. I asked were they using a tea spoon, they even replied in email NO!
What am I supposed to do now. I am to get an update "tomorrow", but going by all previous updates it will be we will call again in 10 days - the don't. Time spent waiting for engineers -  2 days, time spent on phone/emails etc - 5+ hours.

  • Still Waiting for a phone line

We informed BT at the end of February, of our intention to move to a new property in March.
Our old line got disconnected 13th March, ready for the new one to be switched on 16th March.
When we took over the new property on the 6th March, the builders had left the blue rope hanging out the front of the house, ready for the engineers to pull the phone line through. This was for all 4 properties on the new development.
16th March came, nobody arrived. This is where it all went down hill.
Message after message from BT/Openreach with delays after delays. Having messages saying they couldn't get hold of me (no missed calls on my mobile) but they would be in contact within the next couple of days.
BT fibreoptics were installed on the main road in front of us in 3 days!!
Having spoken to my neighbours about what days they have been given by BT are all different to what i was given. What a shock!!
My wife has been with BT for over 20 years and this is what we get.
Having spoke to another Communications company, was told that they can't do it (blocked)
I've spent a fortune on phone calls and using mobile data. Travelling to parents to use their internet.
This day and age, this shouldn't be happening.

    Hi YogieBear,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting, I'm sorry about the delay getting your line connected. It sounds like Openreach haven't got the network ready yet and I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.
We can chase them up to find out what's happening if you send me over your order details using the 'contact the mods' link in my forum profile. You can find the link by clicking on my username.
    Thanks

  • New 7100i - Provisioning for Multiple Phone Lines

I just received a new 7100i from Nextel, and absolutely need support for two phone lines.  Although Nextel assures me that this is supported, I'd expect this to be documented somewhere in the User Manual.  It's not, and I am wondering whether Sprint/Nextel has lied to me yet again, or Blackberry has failed to fully document the features available.  Can anyone tell me if two-line support is offered by this model?  If not, it's going back to Nextel Monday morning...
If so, can I transfer both lines using the Nextel website, or do I have to use phone support via landline to accomplish the switch from my current phone?
    Thanks a bunch!

    hello,
the question you are asking is not a general Blackberry smartphone function and feature. I think you will have more answers if you post your question on the dedicated board for 7100i :

  • Cost of new phone line for BT Basic customers

I have ordered a new phone line for my 92 year old mother who is moving sheltered housing flats.  She will be charged £130 for the new line because a) there is not an existing line to take over and b) she is a BT Basic customer.  These customers are discriminated against as they are on low income and seem to be the only type of customer that is charged this fee.  Also because it  is just a phone line ie no broadband etc she will be 10 days with no phone and her mobile does not work inside her new flat.  She is a very vulnerable person and again seems to be discriminated against. Any one got any ideas?

HI the 130.00 charge is made by Openreach for the work to install a new line this charge is made to all customers that need a new line installing for the first time there is no discrimination because you are a BT basic customer like wise the time scale is also the same for all customers it depends on the availability of an engineer to carry out the work

  • Worst Customer Service Installing New Phone Line

I am experiencing the worst customer service i've ever dealt with. First it took 3attempts to set up a home phone line. Verizon scheduled me between 8am-12pm the first time and came around 2:30, no one was there. Second time we scheduled between 12p-4p, they came around 8:30am. No one was there. Then they wanted to schedule again 5 days later. I wasn't having it, so they schedule next day (Sat) between 8am-12pm. Finally a technician came. He installed a new phone line. I needed this line for my son who was coming home on house arrest. All of this was explained to Verizon. The longer it took them to install the line, the longer he would be in jail. After the line was installed, my son came home on Friday, 7/3. Some time on Sat 7/4 The line stopped working, and 1am he was re-arrested because there was no phone service.Today is the 9th and still there is no service. I sat in my cvar this morning from 7:45am to 1:15 pm waiting for a technician who was supposed to be there between 8am-12pm. After numerous clls to Verizon, and numerous promises to call me back, no one ever called back, and the phone is still not on. I have never had a customer service experience as bad as this EVER! I am so glad I have my wireless with Sprint. I have Verizon FIOS at my home in Jersey, but this phone is in Philly. To top it off, one Verizon employee tells me today that The house arrest equipment doesn't work with fiber optics. Why wasn't I told this when I first ordered the service? I'm still waiting for a Verizon Supervisor to call. My last call, i was conviently disconnected while being transferred to a supervisor. Because of Verizon's no care attitude, now it will probably take another week before my son is released again.

  • How long does a new phone line take to fit? Patien...

I ordered a new phone line in April and was given a date of 1st May 2013 for the engineer to call.
Having booked a day off work for the 1st May I got a text the evening before to advise that extra work was required on the lines outside my home and that they would be in touch soon. On 17th May I got another text to advise that my order for telephone and broadband had been CANCELLED. I phoned and a new order was placed (with a half-hearted apologies for the incorrect cancellation).
Text: 20th May. Apologies for the delay in booking an appointment.
Text 21st May: BT here. Your phone service is ready for you. You can find a phone's number by calling 17070 from it.
I did not not have a phione line.
Text: 30th May. To advise a new number.
Text: 30th May: Apologies for the delay in booking an appointment. Due to necessary additional engineering work. Next update will be 6th June.
Text: 5th June: BT here. Just to confirm you've set up online billing with BT, If you didn't please let us know at ... I didn't set anything up as far as I know.
6th June:  Apologies for the delay in providing your service. No updates. Escalated the lack of infpormation and hope to have more news tomorrow.
7th June:  Apologies for the delay on your order. I can confirm that we are awaiting the outcome of our escalation with our suppliers and are confident of haveing (sp) and (sp) update for you on 11/6.
Now, I am quite a patient person but I need a landline. I live 60 metres or so from a Post Office and even less from a main road. I can see a telephone pole from my back garden just 50 metres away. My neighbours have landlines. Why can't I have one?

  • How do I run a new phone line from the ONT?

I want to move my phone plug to a different room. So I will have to run a new line from the ONT? I have a traditional 4 wire telephone cord, but the wires don't match up. Can use the test port? Or how else would I do this?

It will cost you to add a line.  The test jack might work.  I was actually unhappy to see that when they replaced my BPON ONT with a GPON ONT that it went from have conventially modular jacks to having wire posts for the phone line.
    Choices inlude.
    paying verizon to run wire
trying to wire to the ont yourself
putting a spliter/adapter somewhere on the existing wire to your new location
    trying the test jack.

  • Waiting since August 2010 for a phone line! HELP!...

I ordered a phone line and broadband for a NSP Non Served Premises) back in August 2010. I am so fed up with the so many attempts to get us a phone line. Open reach say it's an easy job yet no-one treats us as human beings.  I have an operation in January and so worried about being left on my own on our farm without a land line. Do BT care? ! No!
There have been so many booked times for engineers to come but they have never come out. Today I spoke to the manager who said "I have done nothing" in reference to helping us out.  He is waiting for open reach to "progress" the order. Why can't someone pick up a phone and stop messing us about.
I have sent a letter giving 10 days to get the phone line up and then going through OFCOM and OTELLO.  Anyone else having similar problems?
Can anyone point us in the right direction?  I have been given no further information but told to wait for the order to progress. It won't as there is something wrong with the system ie the last 7 or 8 attempted orders have messed up yet they still seem to be trying to go down the faulty route! Banging my head against a brick wall.............

    Hi angdown,
Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear you've had so many problems with your order.
I can take a look at your order and confirm what's going on, you can get in touch by emailing in your BT forum username and your order number/address to the email address registered against my profile, and we'll get back to you.
    Thanks,

  • New phone line and broadband, massive noise margin...

Hi, being a long time DSL stalwart a recent move to a new property has meant I've needed to switch over to ADSL instead and thus far it's proving to be a bit of a mare!
I waited a month for the initial installation engineer who promptly never showed anyway, no bother I thought, the hub turned up and I installed it myself and it promptly didn't work   It soon became pretty apparent that the phone line was completely dead even from the test socket.  A few phone calls later and the phone line is working much to my delight.  The broadband is another story though, initially it still couldn't connect but later in the day it managed to get going.  However it's excruciatingly slow with an average of 20 to 30kps throughput and substantial packetloss.  Also worth noting is that in this new property, only the master socket actually works, this place has 4 other sockets dotted around all of which appear to be dead, could these be part of the issue?  Does using the test socket completely cut these out and rule out bad wiring?  Just to add, at 13 hours connected the adsl status is pretty much the same and I couldn't notice anything on the BT line noise test number.
I'm not familar with the workings on ADSL lines but I'm guessing the root of the problem is down to a wildly varying noise margin both up and down.  Down fluctuates between ~2 and 20 within a matter of seconds and up gives some numbers that defy belief.  Now the line was originally activated on Wednesday, actually kicked into life sometime on Friday and the router has been connected for 13 hours now, whilst it's still early days and things should bed in more, I assume I'm right in thinking I should be alarmed at how bad a line I'm starting out with?  And should I be directing my ire at the builders or BT?
Any help and suggestions will be hugely appreciated!
    Cheers!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

as it is a newbuild is the master socket inside your home or outside like this
connecting to the test socket will eliminate all your extension sockets and should be your best connection.  if you are not in the test socket could you try it and post new stats please
with your attenuation I would expect a connection speed of about 18mb when you get this fiixed

  • Waiting for new charger for my Satellite A300

I dont know if I am onto the right place for my problem.
I bought a Toshiba laptop on 9th September 2009. Model: Toshiba Satelite A300-1RY.
Everything has been going fine with the laptop since date of purchase, except for the fact that it is so slow to start up and shut down although I am told this is normal on Toshiba laptops, until last week when the charger stopped working on it. It was working fine and then next thing I know my laptop shuts itself down and wont start up again, I tried the charger on 4 plug sockets and it wouldnt work on any of them.
I brought the laptop and charger into my local branch of the shop it was bought in. It was tried in a plug socket there and wouldnt work so they said it is definitely the charger that isnt working. I was told it would be sent off to Toshiba and they would send out a new one and I could pick it up in the store within a few days.
That was on the 22nd May. I still hadnt received any update from them so I called them yesterday to check. Firstly I was told that it was sent off for repair after I was told I would be getting a new one. Then I was told it wasnt even covered in my warranty but it was going to be repaired as a gesture of goodwill. Then I was told that it hadnt been looked at at all because the man I left the charger with had taken the serial number down wrong, and I wasnt told this until I rang nearly 2 weeks later to look for an update.
I am absolutely furious to be told that my charger isnt included in my warranty. I was told when I bought the computer it had a full one year warranty. I explained to the man I bought it off that I hadnt a clue about laptops and had never bought one or used one before so he recommended I buy an extra 2 year warranty which cost me a lot of money on top of what I was after forking out for the laptop. I was told this covers anything that goes wrong with my laptop for the next 3 years and after that if anything goes wrong it would be time to get a new one anyway. So to be told now that actually very little is covered in this warranty has really infuriated me. DID are adamant this is not the case and this is not what they sell. If this wasnt the case I would not have wasted the money on extra warranties if they do nothing to help me when things go wrong.
The fact that the charger has stopped working after just 9 months was a total surprise in the first place, and then to be told yesterday that it isnt covered by its original one year warranty was just a total shock for me.
I am really angry about the whole matter, especially due to the fact that after nearly 2 weeks of waiting for updates I am now told this, and also the fact that when I left the charger into shop I was told it was no problem and I would have a new one within a few days.

I am not 100% sure but I think one year warranty is for whole product including AC adaptor.
As I can see problem is guy that works by your local dealer.
What you have done is right and probably I would do the same but you can try to ask them who is Toshiba service provider they are working with and try to contact them directly.
Explain the situation and try to clarify this with Toshiba service provider directly. Be cool on the phone or directly in service. Take the bill with you where they can see the date of purchase.
I believe they will help you with this.

  • IMac or wait for new MacBook Pro 2013 or 2014?

I have a mid 2007 iMac model, and my PC laptop recently died- I am debating right now as to whether I should buy the iMac 2013 since it was recently updated or just wait for the MacBook Pro update said to be released sometime this month. I'm in need of a new computer for sure and can last for a bit on my iMac (it's staring to get really slow). I personally would want a MacBook Pro so I could bring it to school/classes but also going to partition it play some PC Games (they're not that graphic hungry, just TERA, MMO's).
I was considering to get the 2013 iMac now and wait until next year for the rumored Sharp IGZO MacBook Pro coming out early 2014 sometime during the summer before next school semester starts. That being said, I don't want to risk the 2014 pro not releasing until AFTER the school semester.
My second option (the safer route) is to wait for the new 2013 MacBook Pro to release this month (hopefully) and that would be the end of it.
I just want to get the most out of my money as well as the reassurance that it would be energy efficient, durable to last for the rest of my college years. Thanks!
