8330 latch repair question

Hi all,
I'm a new "Crackberry addict" so be gentle. I got a Curve 8330 from Craigslist, everything works fine except the back cover will not latch close. From what I can tell it's as though the spring under the latch that holds the back cover from sliding is missing. I've done my research and found that the latch is suppose to be an easy repair and so I ordered one from CNN.CN. The only thing I have not been able to find is instructions on how to remove the old latch and install the new one.
Can anyone one out there help me so that I don't destroy my new toy....
Thanks

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 Email Deletion Question

Greetings and Salutations Black Berry People!
I have a BlackBerry Curve 8330 and a question concerning it.
My phone is currently connected to an exchange server that I sync with my phone. Is there a way to delete emails from my phone all at once, a mass purge of old emails under 1 condition: I don't want the emails on the exchange ( the old ones) to be deleted as well.
I've set my phone to delete messages from my phone after 30 days but can I do what I said in the above paragraph now?
    Thanks a bunch!

    hello,
in the messages application options, there is one to check delete on : handheld only.
so that if you delete a message on your blackberry, it is not deleted on the server.
in the messages list, you can hover on a date, hit menu key and select "delete prior". It will delete all messages that have a date before that date.

  • Macbook air hinge repair question please respond!!!!

Hey everyone, I have a question that hopefully someone can answer I've never sent anything into apple repair so don't know if they're a pain. Anyway in 2008 I bought a macbook air off of a guy I knew, he informed me there was a flaw which was the bottom right hand side of the bezel looked like bent a little toward the user, the computer worked fine and I love it! Anyway after like 8 months I opened it up and the left hinge thing cracked and this little piece came off??? I walked into an apple store while travelling without the air and talked to a genius he said its a common defect and they would fix it. I called tech support told. My story including the bezel thing and they said they would fix it.. should I be worried they will get it see the bezel and say well fix the hinge only somehow? What do you guys think? They can't be as liberal as dell who. Will repair anything...I mean I suppose once they get it they'll have to replace the bezel anyway because it seems to go together. The computer and hinge work 100% but. Would be sweet if repaired.. any thoughts? Sry for typing I'm on my mobile. O and I bought the air for 1000 still loving it..

I would suggest sending it in. I believe they will replace everything. They replaced parts on my MacBook once that I didn't think need replacing. Also, about six months ago, one fan went out in my current MacBook Pro. I called Apple on a Friday. Monday morning FedEx brought a box. The gal helped me pack it quick and she took it along back with her right away. Wednesday morning at 9:10AM she was back with it. Apple had replaced BOTH fans in it.

  • Mail-In Repair Question

ok...so Ive decided to send in my Macbook for a simple repair before my warranty expires. Its a pretty common issue it seems. My left command key got popped off by my nephew, after sticking it back on it works 90 percent of the time, but will come back off sometimes and it sticks, which ***** since i use keyboard shortcuts alot more than my mouse! SO HERE IS THE QUESTION
I use the macbook ALOT for everyday designing/printing....so for a minor key change that they will do, waht do yall think the estimated time to get my computer back? I received the packaging materials from apple today after i started the repair claim earlier this week. It came with a shipping label to send it to them which is Priority Overnight FedEx, so it will ship quick, but didnt know if anyone had experience with the same or similar issues?
the label is shipping from Dothan, AL (me) to Memphis...just wondering cause i wont be able to work w/o the computer
    Thanks

    Hi mac100percent,
I wouldn't ship it out on Friday, as the repair depot does not receive packages on the weekends. If you ship it out on Friday they won't receive the unit until Monday and that's when the clock starts. I've yet to see an issue that was so complex where the depot had the machine for more than 36 hours. A possible timeline scenario:
    1.) Ship package on Monday
2.) Package is received Tuesday, work performed, diagnostics performed
3.) Package may ship right back on Tuesday for Wednesday delivery... if not
4.) Package ships Wednesday for Thursday delivery
On a side note, it's impossible to predict any handling issues with package while it's in Fedex's possession. But from a turn around at the service depot, they're usually very quick. I worked in Apple's call center for a while and I can count on one hand how many times I saw a machine sit there for longer than 36 hours (that wasn't a billing/payment/return address issue).

  • Macbook Pro replacement repair question

I wasnt sure where to ask this question so my apologies if it is miscategorized.
I have a MBP that has a bad screen an will be taking it to the genius bar tomorrow morning to get it fixed under apple care. The entire screen is going to need to be replaced. It has black spots all over it like the screen is separating or something.
    My question is:
Does anyone know how apple handles this sort of thing? Will they take it for a week or 2 and repair it or will they give me a replacement? Its about a year old Macbook Pro 2.33 Core 2 Duo. I ask because it really need it replaced for work and school but.. I cannot live without it. I use it everyday and really can't go without it for that long.
If you have had experience with this please share! I would like to know what to expect.
    Thank you in advance!

Experiences have run in both directions. I think it all hinges on which genius you speak to on which day. More often than not, with the age of your computer, you will need to send it in for repairs. They are more likely to swap a current model.

  • Apple Service Repair Question

So my screen was flickering and I took it into the Apple Store in order to see what was the matter, and because my inverter may be the problem and that is under extended warranty they sent it off to the warehouse to undergo testing to see if that is the problem.
This is just a general question of what goes on there, I didn't know where else to put it, there wasn't really a category for it.
    But anyways.
While testing the computer, what if they find other problems with my macbook? Will they contact me before doing anything that would cost money? And second, when you sign the contract, it says that you're willing to accept a hundred dollar charge for diagnostics or whatnot. Now I've never been charged that, but I was wondering what precisely would cause Apple to charge me, or anyone.
    Thanks!

When my brother sent his macbook in for service and it was not covered under his warranty he was contacted before any repair services where done. This is typical behavior of MOST service centers as a courtesy just to make you aware of all charges no matter how small they may be. For their exact policy I would just give an apple care rep a call.

  • My New Curve 8330! (few questions from a noob!)

So I finally got the Curve 8330 - I had been waiting all this time for the Thunder but decided yesterday that if my fingers are too fat for an iPhone, then they will be for the Thunder as well. Anyways, I LOVE the Curve thus far...just a few questions.
#1) Do the "messages" and "[email protected]" icon serve the same purpose? If so, which I think they do, how do I filter the "messages" icon so that ONLY my incoming SMS messages are shown??? As of now, the "messages" icon is cluttered with e-mail, SMS, bb mesanger & voicemail! I HATE THAT! I'd rather keep it clean and organized so that If i wanna view my SMS messages, I click on "messages" If I wanna view my bb messanger messages, I click on the bb messanger icon, If i wanna see my e-mails, I click on the "[email protected]" icon and so forth. Is there a way to filter it this way???
#2) When I send an e-mail, I automatically get THAT e-mail sent back to me! How do I disable this function? I have no need to recieve in my INBOX the e-mail I just sent out.... I tried going into "Messages->options" and turning the "hide sent" to "ON" but this problem still occurs...... Any help on that?
#3) I have this stupid "Facebook" icon in my menu, how do I delete this permanently?
Thanks everyone, I'm sure i'll have more questions as I'm readin through!

Yes, when you go into your messages and hit the menu key and select options and general options. Email and sms messages should be set to separate. Hit the back key to the right of your trackball to save. If you do not see an icon now just for sms and mms, do a battery pull. Take the battery out with the phone on and leave it out for 30 seconds. Replace it and allow the phone 1-3 minutes to reboot does the icon appear now?

  • Disk repair questions- God, I hope I don't lose another drive.

Having lost a hard drive over the summer, I'm at least better backed up. I tend to run Disk Utility, and on my less that six month old new drive it says:
    +Checking volume bitmap.+
+Volume Bit Map needs minor repair+
    +Checking volume information.+
+The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.+
+Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit+
    +1 HFS volume checked+
    + Volume needs repair+
And that's just about what it said before my last drive hit the crapper. So following Mac protocol I accessed Disk Utility from my Tiger startup disc and tried to have it repair whatever is wrong, and it tells me that it could not. The computer is running absolutely fine. But I'm understandably worried.
So shall I proceed to Disk Warrior? Is there another strategy I can use here? Is my neck in a noose here or what? Or am I panicking?
    (I don't think I'm panicking.)
    Thanks!

Use that OPTION key to temporarily change boot volumes. Sometimes it doesn't work right with Leopard and older drives formatted pre-10.4.4.
Why?? HFS+ has bugs. Memory writes an error. Corrupt cache files.
I would buy another disk drive, 500GB goes for $109 now and are a nice size and good. But I'm reluctant about FW and ATA drives. SATA and you have a drive you can place internal or in ext SATA case.
Leo has enough issues with I/O that I would only use it for testing and evaluation. Yes, it is 'stable' but that means little if applications aren't ready, if there are bugs, if it can wipe out a partition.
I may have had Vista freeze once in the last year, which gets used 90% for the last six months (before that, there were some "MIA" 64-bit drivers). (NTFS was updated and seems pretty good to me, but new territory. knock on wood, but no directory error in a year)
As long as the FW drive has "partition type: GUID" listed in DU it will boot.
OWC has $68 for dual drive SATA case, $25 for NewerTech cable and PCI slot to connect the two spare SATA ODD ports. Those, to me, come as essential before 10.5 which you don't want to be without spare backups, and 10.5 will be around for two years probably and go through a lot of updates (once every 3-4 months).
There is no reason why we should NEED Disk Warrior if everything really worked as it should. Everything.
Leopard Cache Cleaner and learn to use FSCK (Single User Mode) should do what Disk Warrior does and for only $9.

  • RAID - 1 and repair question

    Hi all,
I have an AMD 770-C45 motherboard.
After setup a raid-1 with 2 500GB disks, 1 of the disk becomes unusable at the RAID set.
The raid set is still visible within Windows XP as RAID disk.
Within the Raid config at BIOS, the 2nd disk has been defined as stand alone.
I removed the 2nd defective disk and inserted a new disk with larger capacitiy and better speed.
Now the 2nd disk is visible but also as stand alone disk.
How can I repair the original RAID-1 set with the new inserted disk??
    Thank you,
    Mario

Lookout has not shown issues for any system we have had using RAID 0,1, 1+0, and 5.
    Good luck,
    Mike

  • Macbook Display/Diagnostic/Repair Question

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows about how much it would cost to do a cosmetic repair and or diagnostic evaluation on the hardware of my MacBook.
You see, last night I was sleeping in the bunkbed, when one of the wooden posts came loose and landed on my closed Macbook, which was on my deck below the bunk.
There is a three inch blemish and a tiny superficial crack where the wooden post landed.
I know that it's not covered by my APLCARE, but if I don't have it fixed it could void my warrenty right?
Plus, I don't know if this is a coincidence, but the screen went black when I went to login.
I wated a few minutes, and it went back to normal.
Any expert advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Adobe X repair question

should i repair adobe X through adobe reader or through Windows control panel?  When I start the repair through adobe reader,  I get a prompt once complete to restart my computer but I do not get a prompt to restart if I repair through control panel.  Is it really necessary to restart after repairing adobe?

    It's a good idea yes.

  • Result of Disk Utility Verification/repair question!

Hi all. I just updated my OS X to 10.5.2 and downloaded a graphics update, then I proceeded to check permissions using Disk Utility. After completing verify and repair permissions the following entries were shown:
ACL found but not expected on "Application/Utilities"
ACL found but not expected on "Applications"
ACL found but not expected on "Library"
Can any one tell me what ACL means and if I should be concerned about these entries?

Hi Daniel L. I've installed the combo update 10.5.2, repaired the permissions with Disk Utility and for the first time since installing Leopard I have a clear entry with just the lovely message "Permissions Repaired".
Thank you very much for your guidance Daniel. All that now remains is for you to reply to this message so I can reward you with more points for solving my problem for me!
    Thanks again, Denis.

  • IPod Touch Mail in Repair Question?

I am having screen problems out of nowhere(i didnt cause this) And i am sending my iPod to apple to fix. However the weird thing with my screen is that I only have the problems Sometimes :/ So i feel like Apple will check my iPod when it is not having the problem and think I am lying to them and charge me a fee. So is it okay I put a note in my box that explains to them how my problem only happens Sometimes?

Is this unit in or out of warranty? If it is out of warranty, I would send it to a third-party repair shop. I believe you will get a more personalized service and they may troubleshoot it longer. I sent a new iPod touch in once with a yellow hue to the screen. Apple sent it back and said it was normal. I went and sold it.

  • 5th Gen iPod repair question

i have a 5th gen ipod that does not respond. ive tried everything, nothing seems to work, it wont even show up on my computer. im thinking there is something wrong with either the battery or main board. ive only had it for about 2 months so it should still be under warrenty and i dont see why apple wouldnt replace it for me but the real question is my front pannel around the screen is messed up kinda bad.. you can still see with the backlight on but still its messed up. Will they not replace my ipod because of this? im mailing it in, and i just dont want to be charged without knowing our penalized in any way.

okay but the front is cosmetic damage, which the sun messed it up (i guess i will have to take the blame for that one) so will they not give me a new ipod because of the cosmetic damage?
