9000V with Simple Ring - Dual Host configuration

When using Cisco 9000V's in a Simple Ring Topology with Dual ASR9k Hosts, are there any implications if the ASR9k's are running two different versions of IOS-XR even if only for a short period of time?

Since 5.1.1 is the first release which allows simple ring yes.
Now when 5.1.2 comes out it shouldn't be a problem, but this is not something I have tested.
The difference in 5.1.1 and earlier releases is the ability to configure L2 fabric, the underlying architecture is different, and we have an updated satellite control protocol. All of these allow for topologies such as simple ring.
In the future with newer topologies if the underlying architecture changes enough, or the control protocol goes through a major revision then it is possible you would see an issue, but I don't see it being an issue with the next few releases.

  • Dual host multi-initiator configuration with A3500

    hello all,
    i want to connect two hosts to a A3500 contreller with 5 D1000 array connected to it. i found in the rm 6.22.1 release notes and in the Sun Storedge A3500 hardware config guide that this is possible but clustering software is required. however i do not need the clustering functionality, the hosts will not access the same arrays at a time. i have changed the scsi-initiator-id of one of the hosts (as described in one of sun's blueprints documents) and have installed rm 6.22.1 on both hosts.
    as the docs say this is not a supported configuration without the clustering software - has anyone tried such a config ? what could possibly goes wrong if i connect the seccond host to the A3500 without the clustering software ? (scsi bus resets ?). all help will be greatly appreciated.
    i have also checked the "Independent controller module to two hosts"configuration but in this way i loose the redundacy of the A3500 controllers and this is not very good for my situation.
    thank you for your time!

    Hi Josh,
    You will have to understand the MBGP address families. One of the basic rule of MBGP is that when I'm advertising a route from a specific address family, the next hop has to be from the same address family. So, you will have to make sure the next hop is from the same address family. Couple of examples for you:
    1. IPv6 NLRI in IPv4
    router bgp 201
    bgp router-id 192.168.30.1
    neighbor 150.1.1.2 remote-as 301
    address-family ipv6
    neighbor 150.1.1.2 activate
    neighbor 150.1.1.2 route-map SETNH out
    network 2192:10::/48
    route-map SETNH permit 10
    set ipv6 next-hop 2150:1:1::3
    2. IPv4 NLRI in IPv6
    router bgp 201
    bgp router-id 192.168.30.1
    neighbor 2150:1:1::2 remote-as 301
    address-family ipv4
    neighbor 2150:1:1::2 activate
    neighbor 2150:1:1::2 route-map SETNH out
    network 192.10.0.0
    route-map SETNH permit 10
    set ip next-hop 150.1.1.3
    I also came across this document which should help you: http://fengnet.com/book/Cisco.IOS.Cookbook.2nd/I_0596527225_CHP_25_SECT_11.html

  • "404: No group with that name (wikigroupname) hosted on this server"

    I am running 10.6.8 as our wiki server. After rebooting the server, one of the wiki group seems to be not accessible. When try to access the web page it gives error "404: No group with that name (wikigroupname) hosted on this server", though it still exists in /Library/Collaboration/Groups/wikigroupname
    Do you know how to make it viewable again? I tried to create a new wiki "test" and then rsync /Library/Collaboration/Groups/wikigroupname to /Library/Collaboration/Groups/test, yet still can not see the old wiki group.
    Thank you in advance for you help.

    In all due respect Antonio, I believe that Francesc43 is fighting a flakey system. The 404 No Group is a problem that is confirmed by Apple according to others and very prevalent. At this point the only remediation appears to be a complete server rebuild and to avoid going beyond the "default" configuration for web domains.
    I have personally used only the 'any domain' default config, had the server working fairly well. I then added a FQDN and the server started giving 404s for all groups which previously worked and have data in the wiki. At the same time the simple web sites worked with and without the FQDN as expected. Then removing (not disabling) the default web domain config relieved the wiki 404s. Adding a new default domain config back in (via just hitting the "+" and "Save") recreated the 404's for the previously working wikis with no change to the groups. Removing the system created default domain config it alleviated the 404s.
    Adding a system generated default and a 3rd FQDN re-created the issue and then afterwords, removing all but the FQDN that worked could not alleviate the 404s. Regardless of the permutation of turning things on and off, deleting groups, removing webservices settings, putting them back in, restarting the server.. nothing. 404-DOA
    While the mystery seems to be related to a very fragile relationship with DNS on the server, the solution is again to erase the disk and start over. Wikis in 10.5 thus far are neither a robust nor a stable solution from 10.5 thru 10.5.5 in my experience.

  • Rsrb with multiple ring groups on head ends with one phy ring?

    working on an issue for a customer and I cant find good documentation on this anywhere for multiple ring-groups
    have 2 routers, each with 2 ring groups connected on a mau terminating multiple serial connections (wan, hence the rsrb) and utilizing rsrb tcp with local ack. The configuration was done sometime ago. It was set up to utilize frame which now they are using ptp t1s. I see in the remote routers they are forwarding pakcets to both routers to ring 20. (there are 2 routers if one fails then it is meant to learn its path to the CIP through the other router)
    ---------router1
    source-bridge ring-group 30
    source-bridge ring-group 31
    blahblah peers tcp local-ack
    int t0
    source-bridge 20 1 30 <----notice bridge 1
    source-bridge spanning
    int t1
    source-bridge 20 1 31 <----notice bridge 1
    source-bridge spanning
    --------router2
    source-bridge ring-group 30
    source-bridge ring-group 31
    blahblah peers tcp local-ack
    int t0
    source-bridge 20 2 30 <----notice bridge 2
    source-bridge spanning
    int t1
    source-bridge 20 2 31 <----notice bridge 2
    source-bridge spanning
    I thought the physical rings had to be different in order to run parrallel links. Or are different bridge #'s feasible? The end issue they are having is that when links bounce, they are not releasing the tcp session and the show llc shows remote sides as busy and the head end as connected. (then obviously removal of local ack fixed the issue)
    Not ready to live without local ack... could the same ring # on both routers be the issue since they are on the same mau and destined for the same location?
    ==MAU to CIP==
    | | | | all physical connection on mau are ring 20
    router1 router2
    | | | | | ring groups 30 and 31 configured on both routers with 1 statement to each router in the network per router (so each remote side is only connected to either ring group 30 or 31 (not both since you can only do over token ring) and the show source-bridge is showing forwards to each head end router's physical ring 20. I thought I would see one with forwards the other 0 since first response, but then saw the bridge # differed.)

    case was opened over a month ago with no luck or serious help. Have had great luck in the past with tac, but this one was frustrating and nothing was done.
    case#D039413
    And the remote routers connect directly to the cip with LLC2. (end to end connection, not remote to router 1 and 2 to CIP)
    show llc shows the local mac of the gateway and the cip token.
    the network goes like this
    rr = remote router
    fr= frame relay
    ptp= ptp t1
    rtr1 and rtr2 = router 1 and 2
    rr--fr--rr--ptp--rtr1 and rtr2 ---rr---cip
    I have tried numerous things on this and its apparent that the only option is dlsw and I have pressed the issue enough to start on it with test segments.
    my theory was when the host queried the gateway, its first reply was local-ack on rtr2 (could be rtr1 but for theory we will say rtr2) which was giving back RR and the other end was actually in a disconnect state and sending rnr's to the rtr1 (in this exapmple the host was talking thru rtr2 to the remote side and the remote side was trying the opposite router) which local ack would reply to the supervisor frames
    what was causing the problems in my opinion is the host provider does not utilize local ack since they only have lanned token rings and the customer provides their own wan routers. So the explorer would be answered quicker by the other router and that would be the source route bridged path to the remote side, where the other sides local ack and rif cache was routing through the opposite router. Unfortunately the site where we collected the data on I can not test since I have transitioned it to dlsw to solve their issues and show them the benfits of dlsw

  • Getting SPWeb.CurrentUser as null with Windows Authentication (AD), when configured for Claims Authentication

    Hi All,
    We recently migrated to SP 2013 from SP 2010. We are using most of the OOB features, with a few custom code. We have implemented a custom ASP.NET Membership Provider that authenticates against a web service. This was working fine on SP 2010.
    The entire code base was migrated to SP 2013 (with .net fw 4.5, etc) and any issues Compile / Runtime were fixed. However, we are stuck at one bug, which seems to be occuring only while trying to login with Windows Authentication. When a user tries to login
    with Forms Authentication, the error is never noticed.
    Scenrio: Login as Windows Authentiction.
    Result: The user is signed into the system and is authenticated against the AD. For random page loads - it throws access denied (even though he is a site collection admin). While attaching a debugger, we found that, at times the SPWeb.CurrentUser is null (weird).
    At the same time, the HttpContext.Current.Request.IsAuthenticated returns true. Which means the User is Authenticated, but not available in the SPWeb.CurrentUser object.
    Attached are couple of ULS Logs that we found. The line which says IsAuthenticated=True, UserIdentityName=, ClaimsCount=0 is a little disturbing. Can you please let me know what is happening here? I am not able to access the root site (http://win2012d2:1234/)
    however, i am able to access (http://win2012d2:1234/SitePages/Home.aspx) just fine, without any issues.
    Please note, this error is only when the user is logged into sharepoint as a windows user. The forms user faces no such issues.

    Hi Mohamed,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when users login with Windows Authentication.
    From the error message, I recommend to check if the anonymous access is enabled for the web application.
    And please also make sure that the users all are available and have permission to access the site.
    Here is a similar thread for you to take a look:

  • Dual screen configuration makes keyboard stop working on X

    Hi. My computer is working just fine. And my video card has two outputs (Nvidia[GeForce 9600 GT] (rev a1)). I got a second monitor, and I was trying to configure Xorg to use the two of them in a dual screen configuration.
    I tried creating the 10-monitors.conf file like described in  https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … e_monitors, and here is what happens. X does use the two monitors, and I can even see my mouse pointer moving from one to the other. But then my keyboard stops working, and so do the mouse keys, only moving the mouse around works.
    I have the impression this is related to the missing InputDevices in the ServerLayout. Something in my configuration probably needs that still, if the ServerLayout gets explicitly configured. What should I do? Could this be related to HAL somehow? How do I turn off HAL without it trying to kill me?
    Thanks.

    I have been using nvidia's TwinView for a long time, currently with two different monitor sizes. There is no need to do anything with udev if you have your xorg.conf set up properly. Here's what mine looks like, though you will have to adapt it according to your hardware.

  • ITS 6.20 patch level 18 - dual host - Linux/Apache

    Has anyone had to deal with the error message?
    "Error in EnviInitialize, rc=1100"
    This is diplayed when starting Apache.  I suspect it's from the Wgate component that Apache is trying to start.
    I setup a dual-host ITS, and it worked fine: I could access services on the application server(a 4.6C system), etc.  Then I went through the process to have the two communicate via SNC.
    And now, whenever I start Apache, I get this error message.  Apache itself does start, but the wgate component doesn't appear to be running because I try and access an SAP service, I get an error message from Apache(page not found), instead of a error message from SAP.
    Thx,
    Kevin.

    Hello Kevin,
    yes, the error message is from the wgate.
    This is a bootstrap issue in initializing the low-level functionality (reading ITS registry, tracing, etc). If this failes the wgate is not able to read its parameters or write traces, the only thing it can do is to write to the apache log (or stdout) and return to the server.
    Since tracing (and other stuff) is not in-place there are no more hints to get to the cause.
    What I can think of is:
    syntax errors in (one of) the xml files (probably ItsRegistryWGATE.xml)
    >> Please check your changes again (end tags and slashes), or take them out one by one.
    Apache runtime user is changed and due to that the XML files are no longer accessable.
    The rights of the XML files (ITS registry) are changed and no longer accessable.

  • Error displaying host configuration

    I'm running version 10.2.0.1 of OEM on a Windows 2003 advanced server and I get
    the following error message when trying to view the charts for my cpu target: "Error displaying host configuration - Host Configuration"
    I also get the following error message:
    "Error getting data from the repository for target txsna09egssrv03.ITServices..... Exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-20206: ORA-06512: at "SYSMAN.EMD_MNTR_HOST", line 243 ORA-01403: no data found ORA-06512: at line 1"
    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    I am also getting the same error, when i click host under general section of oem database control's homepage, but on the homepage itself, i have an alert under the secion RELATED ALERTS.
    That alert says "Memory Utilization is 99.77%" and when i click that, it is showing me the host configuration and i can monitor the host.
    why is the host link on the homepage gives an error whereas i can monitor the host through the related alerts.
    i have oracle 10g database server and have client running on rhel4.
    thanks!

  • RADIUS-3-NOSERVERS: No radius hosts configured or no valid server present in the server group

    Hi,
    I currently have an C2960 switch with IOS 15.0(2) SE4. To log on the CLI of the switch authentication against a RADIUS server takes place. Accounting is not wanted. The config of the switch is as follows:
    aaa new-model
    aaa group server radius RADIUSGROUP
     server xxx.xxx.xxx.1 auth-port 1812 acct-port 0
     server xxx.xxx.xxx.2 auth-port 1812 acct-port 0
    aaa authentication login default group RADIUSGROUP local
    aaa authentication dot1x default group RADIUSGROUP
    aaaauthorization network default group RADIUSGROUP
    radius server host xxx.xxx.xxx.1 auth-port 1812 acct-port 0 key 7 [encrypted password]
    radius server host xxx.xxx.xxx.2 auth-port 1812 acct-port 0 key 7 [encrypted password]
    It works fine, the authentication and the login are successful, but every login generates a message in the logging of the switch:
    RADIUS-3-NOSERVERS: No radius hosts configured or no valid server present in the server group
    What is going wrong???
    Any help would be appreciated.

        That's going to be something you are going to have to go the cisco TAC with .  That looks to be some kind of software bug.  Also a feature probably not a lot of people actually use and have knowlwedge about.

  • Upgrading to lion: concern currently i amMac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549) with a windows dual boot (boot camp)

    Upgrading to lion: concern currently i am running Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549) with a windows dual boot (boot camp) on a imac, hardward configuration is good. my question is if i upgrade to lion will it effect my boot camp windows environment in any manner shape or form or will it stay pristine and I will be able to access it with no problem.   as for the upgrade does it give you a clean install and upgrade options
    any insight would be appreciated.
    Also has anyone, added another partition and installed lion in their leaving the snow leopard partion intact.

    I would ask myself these questions first
    What features am I hoping to benefit from by upgrading?
    What apps do I have on OSX that I need to still fucntion? (research that they will)
    Just a cautionary note - I have had problems, but only upgraded to see what was new - needed nothing, lost a lot

  • No Radius hosts configured...

    For days now, I've been trying to troubleshoot an authentication problem and the solution still eludes me.
    I have a Windows 7 SP1 laptop, a wireless client, that should be able to access the wireless network LAB1 with SSID AP1.
    It should authenticate with a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 DC/NPS server via a Cisco Aironet 1142 access point.
    Authentication is "Open with EAP".
    EAP type is EAP-TLS.
    Two entries in the Aironet Event Log, I believe, are related to the problem:
    Error - No Radius hosts configured or no valid server present in the group rad_eap
    Debugging - Station [MAC addr here] Authentication Failed.
    The MAC addr is that of the Windows 7 SP1 laptop attempting to connect to the network via the access point.
    Could someone verify that my configuration is correct for what I want to accomplish (wireless access by laptops using EAP (EAP-TLS) authentication and - for now - WEP encryption???
    Also, what could explain the error message above about no Radius servers? The output of "show run" below seems to indicate that Radius is configured, correctly or not...
    Here is the ouput of the "show run" command on the Aironet 1142 (via telnet) - followed by the error messages in the Windows 7 laptop Event Viewer (WLAN Auto-Config section):

    Looks like I'm at a dead end.
    But since it looks like the rest of the setup is fine, what I would like to do *now* is configure the Aironet to work with WPA2.
    WEP was only used for testing (well, if I can't make it work with WPA/2, what about WEP?)
    Since the WPA2 - EAP-TLS combination works just fine with the the Linksys, I have to conclude it's just a matter of entering the right commands on the Aironet to make this work.
    Yes, I'm almost ready to give up on the web-based GUI, it's closed on me twice when I click on "Apply" and it appears the configuration is not saved entirely (???).
    CLI via telnet seems both faster and more reliable but I don't know all the commands. Some of the documentation I've found assumes other situations, such as authentication with LEAP or use of a controller. Still looking...

  • DMPVN Dual Hub Configuration

    In the DMVPN design guide it is stated that in a dual hub configuration one hub should be set as the primary via EIGRP metrics. Is there a reason for this? Why can't both routes act as successors so that load-balancing can take place. The only thing I can think of is that it could cause problems with spoke-to-spoke communication.
    Can someone shed some light on this?

  • Dual-Host installation problem

    Hi all.
    I have two ITS server (6.20, pl.14): one server with two single-host installation (HRP and RCP istances) and one dual-host installation with agate component (ITZ istances); the other server contain the wgate dual-host installation (ITZ istances).
    Single-host istances work correctly. The dual-host istance do not work correctly because the wgate (in dmz) call another agate, do not call the ITZ istances.
    I think that during the istallation a wrong agate istances has been set.
    How I can undestand which is the wgate component that can call tha agete component with ITZ istances? Because in the folder 'config', in the xml file, I'm able to undestand only for single-host istances.
    Thanks,
    Gianluca

    Hello Simeone,
    If I understand your question correctly, you're just trying to figure out where to set up the connection between the AGate and WGate.
    On the WGate, under the \program files\sap\its\6.20\config\ItsRegistryWGATE.xml there is a section called "Instances".  For the AGate section, you should put in the information of the AGate server for Host, PortAGate and PortMManager.  These ports will be numeric values (39xx) and can be found on the AGate in the \windows\system 32\drivers\etc\services file.
    Restart the WGate and you should be good to go.
    Hope this helps.

  • ORMI Connect Exception with IP-Based Virtual Hosts

    I currently am using OAS 10.1.2 and have a virtual host setup with the Oc4j mounted at the root of the domain.
    i.e.
    http://mydomain.com (Takes you straight to the application)
    as apposed to
    http://mydomain.com/myapplication (Which appears to be the default configuration)
    When I setup my ormi url to the following ormi://mydomain.com:12500/ I get java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused. error.
    If remove the Virtual Host configuration then specify the ormi url to be ormi://mydomain.com/myapplication I do no get the error.
    Does anyone know how to setup ormi with oc4j applications mounted to the root of a domain.
    Thanks

    you need to define a virtual server for it..but inside that definition.. define a proxy.
    Then the middle webserver, will actually handle the request to the intranet server, on behalf of the internet client..and then pass the traffic to the internet client.
    this looks like a reasonable example..

  • Re: All on One Host Configuration

    Evaluation mode runs on a single host. Please note that it is called evaluation mode because scale-able production deployments are NOT supported in evaluation mode.

    Hi,
    A small correction: There are two single host configurations for VDI ("All on One Host" and "VDI Demo").
    * All on One Host - http://wikis.sun.com/display/VDI3/Supported+Configurations#SupportedConfigurations-AllonOneHost
    * VDI Demo - http://wikis.sun.com/display/VDI3/Getting+Started+-VDIDemo
    The VDI Demo is not a supported production environment configuration, but the "All on One Host" configuration is fully supported as long as you have an extra support contract with MySQL to cover the InnoDB engine.

    Stephanie
