hi there when i first started using ical i could double click an event to edit it and press enter when finished
now i have to press apple E and click done when finished - with hundreds of events its painful
any ideas apart from someone at apple making it how it used to be which would be cool
also a bug if i set a calender to an event and another calender to another event and cut both events selected together at the same time when i paste the events they are both now in the same calender
which means if i have 40 events in one day in 30 different calenders I have to move them forward in my diary one by one also very painful
finally a cool suggestion to ical why not have a feature which collected all old events from a particular calender and stuck them all in the current day! cool or what

Please excuse where I should use the word Tag or Keyword or vice versa!
1.       BUG?    If a tag synonym is added or changed then all affected photos should be marked for re-publish. I do not think this currently happens.   Should this possibly be considered a bug?
2.       BUG?    When viewing a smart collection in a Flickr publish service and a new tag is added to a photo it is correctly moved to the “requires re-publish” section.   However … the thumb selection in the grid moves to the next photo, the loop view remains on the photo just tagged and the key wording still reflects the just tagged photo.    The selection shown in the grid appears to be wrong.      When working quickly this can result in tagging errors as the user looking on the grid believes he is working on the next highlighted photo in the grid.      This is surely a bug?
3.       BUG?      A minor point and I realise this is probably not the correct way to do things … but a double word synonym entered with quotes for example “Ice Climbing” will create two tags “Ice” and “Climbing” at the flicker end of things.    Removal of this synonym and forcing a re-publish does not delete these two tags at the flicker end of things.    I may have miss-understood, but perhaps it is best for LR not to allow quoted tags?
4.       SUGGESTION      An easier and more powerful way to review tagging of current photos should be provided whereby it is possible to clearly see the current tagging of a photo and have immediate access to the keyword list at the same time to make corrections.    Having both the Keywording and Keyword List panels open in Library mode results in a lot of up and down scrolling for me and is a slightly inelegant UI in my opinion.   I would suggest it should at very least be possible to have the tags viewable in Loop info as an option - so long as no truncation is made and all tags visible.    Ideally a better way should be sought.
5.       SUGGESTION      It would be very useful when reviewing tagging to select to show all photos in the currently selected folder or set which do not contain the selected tag.    Note, I don’t think this can be easily achieved by using a keyword filter and selecting all keywords and unselecting the tag of interest as the pictures may have many tags.    The same might be performed by textual based searches but this is inelegant and its slowness precludes a browsing approach.     For example – for me it would be useful to look at all my mountain shots in a trip which have not been tagged with “Glacier” and it will be immediately visually apparent where I need to make tagging corrections.    I would suggest a “Not” checkbox is made available on the top of each column in the library filter – this may also provide a great deal of power for other situations.
6.       SUGGESTION      It would be useful to allow a means of showing all pictures with a certain tag but which have not been tagged yet with any children of said tag.   For example all pictures tagged with Glacier which I have not yet named the glacier by introducing a relevant child tag or selecting an existing child tag.    A similar situation occurs for wildlife and potentially many other scenarios … I would like to use a tag “Butterfly” which I can quickly use on my first pass… and then do the identification and child tagging on a second pass using appropriate filtering.   This allows for a step wise or “top down” approach to tag classifying things in a workflow.    I appreciate this can be achieved (as I do now) by using a child tag called “Unnamed butterfly” or “Unnamed Glacier” but it seems more powerful, elegant and generically applicable to be able to filter on a “not tagged with a child” basis.
I apologise if I have missed the point on some existing functionality on any of these points and welcome any suggestions.

Some Bugs and Enhancement Suggestions for Offline DB models

I really like the way that this area of JDeveloper is shaping up, but I have a couple of bugs and few suggestions for enhancements.
Bugs,
1) when adding an index to a table, you can't edit the index name. If the generated name is too long, it doesn't allow you to create the index.
2) When adding columns to an index, there is no LOV of columns so you have to manually type each one. It always defaults to the ?first column of the primary key? which seems odd.
A few enhancement suggestions:
1) on tables and columns it would be very helpful to be able to also have a logical name as well as a physical name
2) if we have a logical name, it would be then very helpful to be able to set the display properties to show the logical vs. physical table and column names
3) Tablespace objects. I would be okay if they were just the logical object (not necessarily generate DDL to create them). If I could use them as part of the table and index definitions.
4) Table partitioning.
5) Packages on a DB Diagram. Just for the documentation purpose of visually displaying all objects in an application.
6) Ability to create views based on synonyms. Currently, it only allows to pick a table or view.
Just a few items that I have encountered trying to design a full application in JDeveloper.

Liquid spills, why your MacBook chassis is a one-way valve for spills
After a substantial spill many people will turn their notebook upside down and shake it, not only does this not work, but it spreads liquid havoc throughout your machine and makes things often as bad as possible.
The keyboard itself acts like a one way valve in the case of a substantial liquid spill. While liquid pours into the bottom chassis easy, it does not come out easily at all, and in the case of any spill, most of it will not come out by turning it upside down. Disconnect all power and contact Apple for diagnostics and repair.
Do not attempt to, after a spill, ‘dry out your MacBook’ and test it
After a spill most people invariably try to “dry out” their notebook by various methods, including hair dryers and otherwise. This both does not work, and after a substantial spill of any magnitude, even if the liquid was water, residue is left behind.
There are additionally many very tight places inside your notebook where liquids will linger for a very long time, and cause corrosion or worse.
Immediately unplug your notebook and contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and parts replacement.
In the case of very minor spills people will “dry out” their notebook and feel success that their notebook is working ok, however invariably in nearly all instances after 4-14 days an error / fault pops up and is usually followed by more.
In case of a spill, damage estimates are impossible,.....anything can be fixed, without question.......the question is cost.
contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and cost estimation ....possible parts replacement.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

One does not have the computer of the original poster (OP) at hand, we can't look over his shoulder to see what he is doing, we can only read his message. We don't know his configuration, we don't know what he did earlier, we don't know if he understands what he has been doing, whether his children/pets/wife/partner/neighbour have inadvertently pressed some keys on the keyboard, he has spilled his coffee on his hard disk, or whatever else could have happened.
We just don't know! You have to tell us in an understandable way.

Do not be offended if someone asks you for more information, because ultimately he wants to help, not insult.
You have to understand all the info we have is what we read, nothing else. Not everybody uses the proper terms and phrases to be understood by everyone, not everybody is a native English speaker, not everybody is specific, precise and accurate in wording his problem, in short there are a lot of factors influencing how your message comes across and is understood by others.
This is a classic example of someone posing a question/challenge and how the listener/reader percieves it.

Can't figure out whether this forum is smothered?
I raised issues in my last post here that, although infringing on another colleague's problem, haven't really been answered or discussed even. I think I suggested that CS4 did things differently to CS3. Don't mind this unless it fundamentally and positively affects workflow - which it seems to be doing albeit in a somewhat irritating way for me in some areas. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for progress - but a one step forward, one step back backwards dynamic seems to be at work here. Premiere CS4 has some limitations.
My feeling - and feel free to disagree with me here - is that Adobe has a fundemental problem with Premiere - period. After Affects is the benchmark for compositing in a windows environment. It can do almost everything VERY well, except long form editing. It is a short timeline solution.
Premiere on the other hand has the potential to do everything that After Affects does but for long form too. The result: Adobe never quite seems to give Premiere its wings because perhaps it knows that it will immediately remove the market for After Affects. Turkey's do not vote for Christmas. (Given a choice they may well vote to postpone Christmas!)
So we get software updates that never quite live up to the legacy that (for me at least) Speed Razor promised back in the nineties.
As I say, I might me wrong, but I don't think so and I've worked with all forms of software, particularly AVID, since it was introduced way back so I do know a thing or two about non-linear editing.
The link to wiki troubleshooting is great for those who are starting out or need a little reminder. But I think we all know that CS4 is not the holy grail for editing and that Adobe might need to think AVID in terms of future competition and not ULEAD.
By the way...I use FCP extensively. But it outsells Premiere, I suspect, in the Broadcast market. It's actually OK but I actually prefer Premiere and think the latter has a massive potential if given the right investment. Go on Adobe...spoil us!

AU filters, and some suggestions for use

I have just discovered the powerfull AU filters for the tracks, and would like some overall suggestions on their use. I have read on many forums and posts on what each one is, but my question is more on the line of when is enough enough, and can you degrade a file, like an image file, by too many filters?
Example one: Podcasts. Plain recording of vocal track with no efffect. After the recording, my thought is too apply the AUlowpass to take out the highend and clean up the sound. Then, maybe the AUMatrixReverb to fill it out.
Then, on the MasterTrack, apply the AUMultiband Compressor to balance the output. Is this something that would be ok?
Example two: Vocal recording project. Apply AUfilter to the backing instramental track to make it the way you want...
Record vocals again plain, vanilla, no effects. After the recording, add AUlowpass if needed, maybe AUGraphicEQ to shape the vocals, then do the MasterTrack effect as above.
I guess I would just like some more suggestions from people in the know on some use of the AU filters and how to do it best.

First, yes, you can degrade output, because a filter (by definition) changes the signal. However, if you use them carefully, they will enhance the sound. You don't have to worry about signal processing artefacts of too many filters in a row, since the design of the AU filters seems to be quite good. But in the end, your ears have to be the judge: why should you worry about degradation if you like the result?
About the low pass filter: normally, parametric EQ is used to cut specific frequency bands. E.g., if you have some trouble in the higher frequencies, it is unlikely you need to cut all of it, which is what a low pass filter does. This will make your mix sound dull. A parametric EQ can apply a much more precise and subtle edit, and at different places (most mixes also benefit from cutting the higher bass a little bit). EQ can also be used to boost. E.g., a slight increase around 12kHz can give some "air" to the mix.

I'm a Chinese designer, a Ps user, I want to give some important advance to Ps, may Cs6 or other adobe applications.
1. [EXPERIENCE]When I chose another layer and do some actions for example draw something with brush tool, then I undo this step, the layer focus will jump back to the last layer, but infact I only want to undo the first action on this very layer. The better way is when I undo a step, don't change the layer focus.
2.[BUG] I use Chinese input method, it calls out a independent grid to choose Chinese letters like the picture in attachment. In most games (if they are not bad), shortcut keys will not call out the input grid, but ps does. It's a terrible experience because I spend may hundred hours on this misoperation. The proper way is when I use Type tool, I can call out the Grid, beyond that, we want the same experience as English input.

Terrible iPhoto 6 bug, and some clues..

Hi, everybody!
I still don't have a satisfactory answer to this problem, which has essentially shut down my ability to use iPhoto. It seems that a number of people have this same problem (based on postings here).
I shoot a bunch of digital photos, and import the as a roll into iPhoto. All similar shots with the same hardware. Some random percentage of them are not editable or viewable in a slideshow. Double clicking on the thumbnails (which all look fine), results in a blank screen in the edit view, but just for a few images in each imported roll. I have checked the permissions, changed the "open with" option, etc..
Some clues, maybe this means something to someone here:
1) When I drag an unopenable image to the desktop (by dragging the thumbnail), the desktop icon is a thumbnail of the image. When I drag an image that opens fine in iPhoto to the desktop, the icon is a generic jpeg file.
2) Both of these files open fine in photoshop, and when I re-import them to iPhoto, they then open without difficulty.
Any ideas? Have now installed both updates to iPhoto (6.0.2), but the problem persists...

I know that CMYK used to give iPhoto 5 problems along with grayscale photos. IPhoto needs to have the images in RGB for all photo printing and book orders.

Ok recently I purchased some songs off of ITunes and some of them only play half way thru!!! I knw I didn't pay New Release prices for just half the song! It's driving me crazy!!! Does anyone have a solution here?

Emails I send appear in the Sent folder but don't always arrive. This is happening increasingly often and some important messages have not been received. Does anyone else have this problem?

5310 MusicPlayer. Bug and suggestions

I have the phone for some time and I am very happy with it. I had the opportunity to took an Iphone (for free) but I chose the 5310 and I don't regret (the only significant thing maybe the battery life and the bug and the suggestions)
Bug: sometimes when you press volume control, audio mutes for a fraction of a second and come back with the new level and a click....., very annoying. It happens for the first time you change volume in a while, when you change it (up/down) continuously it works ok. (not always)
Suggestions:
-More volume levels, please....please....please. Now, jumps are too big.

-Option to do not rebuild the library when you turn on the phone.
Is it necessary? I mean, can it be save to a file?
-Option to rebuild the library upon request. (for the previous reason)
-Option to return to the previous location when you are browsing and playing music. I mean, you search for an artist, open it, search for an album, open it, search for a song and open it. Then the musicPlayer plays the song but if you press "back", where do you go? To the song within the album, within the artist?......or just to the beginning again!!!
-Browse by letter. Press a letter to go to the first coincidence in the list. Just select "All songs" and search for a song in a 4Gb card full to the brim. This should be applied not only to music.
-Use the keyboard in the musicPlayer. There are 11 useful keys to use (# is mute), not only for the previous reason. Maybe 1 and 3 to fastforward and fastbackward faster than using the keypad. And 4 and 6 to jump 5 or 10 seconds.....and there are seven more....
Ahhh and one more thing....
With the last version (9.42) speaker volume it´s definitely more clear...but it is too much louder at minimum volume.
Well, that's all (for the moment), I look forward to see some of the in the next firmware upgrade.....

Yes there is. If I got this right you want to download and upload data from and to your 5310 from the net. You can connect with a Bluetooth USB dongle, if your computer does not have any other bluetooth device. I bought my Prodige Bluetooth Dongle v2.0 from Verkkokauppa.com before I even got my phone. When BT is active the phone and the camera on the phone will be visible on the folder tree on your resourcemanager, if using WIN OS. The connection quality has been no less than good all times, when I've used my gismos.
There were some connection problems, when the previous version of Nokia PC Suite had only connections available by the type Nokia phones have or used to have. The radio buttons were on n/a state when trying to connect.
The never V 6.85 has configuration setup to manage other installed devices that can connect the phone and PC. You can also connect Audio gateway from the Bluetooth objects and listen the music on the phone with your PC or laptop. I have SPDIF sent to 6.1 DigiAmp and most High-Q MP3- and AAC-files sound almost as if they were orginals on a CD for that matter.

Please give me some suggestions on the process that i am doing.
I have to send some data daily in a flat file to a third party vendor.
The data that i am extracting to a flat file comes from "differnt tables".
I have a PL/SQL proc which does all the logic and extract to a flat file.
As per third party vendor requirement we have to send one full file
(all the data in our database or tables) and after that changes only file
(records that got modified and New Records).we have Date_modified column
in every table to see whether that records got modified or not.
we need something to track what records we are sending
they dont want to depend only on that "date_modified" column.
they want to create a separate table to keep track all records that we are
sending to vendor.
Process:
First day: Insert all the records to a ---> log table(for tracking) with
           SEND_REC = 'Y' (there is a column "SEND_REC" that says whether
           to send that record or not) ----> send all the records from the
           log table that has SEND_REC is "Y"
second day: compare the existing records with log table records --->if
            there is any change update the log table
            and for new records insert into log table --->
            send the records from log table that has "SEND_REC" is
            "Y"
thrid day: same as second day..
Is there any better way to do it? Please post how do you handle this type
of scenarios ?

Audio (and some video) dropping out export

I've created an project with short video/audio clips sampled to produce "music". It plays OK in FCPX, but when I export it (H.264, 720p, Apple Devices, 44.1) as an MP4, some of the audio (and some video) drops out. That is, it does not show up in the exported (aka "Shared") movie file.
There are about 7-8 things (tracks) going on at once, maximum.
Any ideas what to do to fix this?
