A most frustrating experience

My son got a five euro music voucher with his ExpressMusic handset and I was the guy he turned to in order to spend the money. I must say I can't recall worse experience in downloading the software and making sense out of it. First, with no explanation the registration button didn't show up in the upper right corner of the PC screen - until I decided to try IE instead of Opera. Once the first track was downloaded, looking at the list in the PC, I tried to drag and drop the track to the phone. Unsuccessfully, of course. Finally we found some help telling that the USB connection should be opened in media/printin more as opposed to the usual PC Suite mode. Finally we got the date moving. The next problem was that the Nokia handset didn't show the tracks when we looked at them in "display all" mode. Finally I found them on the memory card after all. All in all, I doubt I will ever use this service again, life is simply too short.

BTW - this site behaves quite strangely when I use this with Opera browser. Hitting Enter to begin a new paragraph throws the cursor to the top row and trying to break long text into paragraphs by hitting Enter also moves the rest of the text to the beginning... How typical Nokia. Do their top manager actually ever try to use these products and services or is there an army of friendly nerds always sorting the problems out so that they keep wondering why there is so much bad press about Nokia?

  • Worst and most frustrating experience in twenty years of software use

    February, 2010 I purchased Photoshop Elements 8.  I registered it, got a website dedicated to my screen name, etc.  I finally got the time to accumulate all my photos into organizer and organize them.  It took me two days.  I went in today, the third day, and the software won't open because there's a popup screen from Adobe for me to upgrade to Photoshop Elements 9.   The pop-up doesn't have a close button on it.  I can't get into the software I've paid for because Adobe wants to sell me more software.  After two days of use, I have no intention of sending them more money to use software I already have.  So then I called Support and waited on hold for 25 minutes only to be told I need TECH support and am put back on hold for another five minutes.  After 1/2 hour total on hold time, they tell me that Adobe Photoshop 8 is a pay-for-support product.  YOU ARE KIDDING ME!  They want $39 from me to answer the question of why the software they sold me won't open because they are trying to sell me an upgrade and forgot to put a Close button on the pop-up? 
    The guy says there's an answer on the forum for the problem.  Well, I searched the forum.  I didn't see an answer.  Maybe it's here.  I don't know. 
    So I'm really just trying to scream here and see if anyone at Adobe listens or cares enough to be able to address their failure. 
    By the way, I was working with the purchasing department on a competition for use of imaging and document management software to satisfy regulatory compliance requirements for the global consulting firm where I work.  Probably a multi-million dollar long term deal.  Nice that they've blown that over $39 Support fee trying to get a $60 upgrade out of me after two days of using properly purchased, licensed, registered software. 
    Oh, I forgot to mention that the e-mail with which I registered doesn't show as registered, despite my having a web-site set up for me and despite them being able to find me to try and sell me upgrades, they can't find me when it's time to provide assistance.   
    This is hands down the worst product support and most frustrating experience of using software I have had in well over twenty years as a software user.  Nothing else has even come close - including situations that resulted in lawsuits!

    Off hand I don't remember the remedy for your predicament, there is one, but in the meantime go to the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe file (or similar, this is PSE9) and hopefully start the software by double clicking on it.

  • Trying to contact you people is one of the MOST frustrating experiences I've recently endured. Is there just no escape from the unending loops back to forums?? Is there not a phone number where a customer can speak to an Adobe human being in real time? Is

    .....and so here I am...back in the f'ing forums. With a two day shoot later this week my only option is to buy a different app to have tethered shooting as an option. And if that's what I have to do, I'll do it, and Adobe will never see me again (after 22 years of using their products).

    I shoot tethered using a LR "watched folder" for auto import. Why would I do that when LR5 supports tethering with all my Canon DSLR cameras?
    I use the free Canon EOS Utility, which supports live view mode and ability to change camera and flash settings on my system monitor. Lightroom currently only provides a remote shutter release and visual indication of the camera settings........and nothing else!

  • A very frustrating experience with the Verizon website(s)

    My tale of woe:
    I am downloading call data in "spreadsheet" format, here: https://nbillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/accountholder/mybill/VoiceDetails.action
    I have multiple lines on my account. I start by downloading the data for one of my non-primary lines ("Line 2"). So far, so good. Then I go back and start downloading the data for my primary line ("Line 1"). But the site keeps giving me files with Line 2 data.
    Click "View All Voice Details." I see Line 1 data.
    Click "Download to Spreadsheet." I get a file with Line 2 data.
    The same thing happens for every month in the record.
    Clearly, there is a bug in the code for this page. I think, after spending time diagnosing it, I'll report it to Verizon so they can fix it.
    Click "Contact Us" (https://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/contact/index.jsp ). This resolves to a blank page titled "Back Button - JSP Page" (http://www.verizonwireless.com/backbutton.html ), with some irrelevant JavaScript commands.
    Try again. Same result. (I repeated everything in this story at least twice, to confirm the results.)
    Finally, clicking around, I somehow manage to reach the "Contact Us" page.
    I don't want any "self-service" options; I just want to submit information. "Send an Email" sounds good. I select "I receive a monthly statement," and click on the submit button.
    This takes me to the "Find Assistance" page (https://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/contact/findAssistance.jsp ). There's nothing there about sending an email.
    I click around some more. I can't find any place to send a message to Verizon!
    Fine, I'll post in the forums. I go to community.vzw.com, and register for a new account.
    I want to write my own secret question, so I select that option from the dropdown menu. There's still only one input field, which is odd, but I put something in it and submit the form.
    The page returns an error indicating that not all of the input fields are filled in. Clearly, it's expecting me to fill in both a "secret question" field and a "secret answer" field, but there's no way for me to do this, because the page isn't showing the "secret question" field to me.
    Fine, I'll use one of the preset secret questions.
    Now I'm here, preparing a message to send into the ether of "forums," never to pass under the eyes of anyone working for Verizon. If I manage to post the message without triggering some new error, I'll be shocked.

    Could you be more specific about which pages you "ran through?" I've just re-tested the problems I experienced on 2/27, and found that all but one still exist. I've summarized the three remaining problems below.
    I use the latest version of Firefox.* While the suggestion that I switch to IE might prove an effective (and certainly well-intentioned) workaround, it is not a solution. Basic functions like sending an e-mail to tech support or registering for a new account should not require the use of a specific browser--especially now, when no single browser has even a majority user share (see http://bit.ly/gfja5z).
    *(Technically, I'm running 3.6.16--I haven't yet moved to Firefox 4, which was just released on Tuesday.)
    I've been a Verizon customer for several years, and have been happy with their wireless service. However, of the dozen or so companies I do business with on the web, Verizon's website has consistently been the slowest and most frustrating to use. The sequence of consecutive bugs I ran into on 2/27 finally motivated me to write something about it.
    Here's the problem list:

    Click "Download to SpreadSheet," and save file as "File B - Line 1."
    Compare File A & File B. They are identical files, containing Line 2 data.

    Under "Send an Email," select "I receive a monthly statement" from the dropdown menu, and click the submit button.

  • Lumia 920 - most backwardish experience ever

    I shall vent my anger at Nokia. 
    Recently broke my trusted E6 and having no time for contemplation went for top of line Lumia 920. 
    Trying to use the THING have been the most confusing experience i have ever had with any device/system in my life.
    xxx experience started instantly: No support for Ovi Suite, you can not sync your contacts unless you sign in to online account when phone is initalised. Ok, i got over it, mowing on.
    Trying to make first call - this device is not a phone! There is no T9 style dial !!! No speed dial !!! 
    Ok, found Rap dialler, but it is not native and WP8 asks for additional confirmation before allowing the call, which is displayed in upper left corner - most inconvenient for single handed use. And it does not show missed calls - so i have to keep separete apps on screen for making calls and looking and missed one. 
    Tried to configure home screen .. there is no switching of them, you have to slide, which is way more inconvenient too fast/slow and icons end not where intended. 
    UI is written for/by aliens. I still have not figured out the confusing behaviour of back button - when it closes application and when goes back. 
    Mowing on - No onscreen toggles for turning wireless, BT and sound on/off.
    Constantly missing calls because ringtone is turned off and it is not visible when on screen. Yes, there is TOGGLE (another app you download) which is far cry of what Symbian Belle had.
    The last one made my blood boil: you need the app to send contact details to someone!!! 
    I pulled broken E6 from drawer and brought to service center. I can't wait to have it fixed and back in business.
    You shall be warned - if you like E6 think twice before downgrading to new phone

    Unfortunately I cannot help you with the fact that Widowsphone is totally different to Symbian and there is a huge change when you switch. I personally switched from an N8 to a Lumia 800 and then to a Lumia 920 and 820. Like you I found it very strange at first but 18 months down the line, I have adapted and now find it different but easier to use than Symbian in many ways. There are things that still annoy me but I now work around them and there are features that I now cannot live without.
    Back to your gripes, I might be able to help with a few.
    T9  or Qwerty, you do get used to it. The word prediction on the 920 is very good once you get used to it.
    Missed calls and other notification are shown as icons on the lock screen and then as numbers on the tiles once you unlock.
    The homescreen unfortunately is the way the UI is. Need to talk to Microsoft about that but again, you do get used to it.
    For toggles, download an app called connectivity shortcuts.
    To send a contact, goto People>Tap on the contact you want to share>3 dots>share contact>tick>select the sharing method you wish to use. 

  • Most frustrating phone issue I ever had!

    This is what I would like to do if possible: Have all my accounts synced through my Iphone, to Mac Mail 2.0, to the server.
    Example: I have an email on my phone.....I delete that email, and I wanted deleted from the Iphone, Mail 2.0, and also the server. And anything else I do with emails on my phone to also sync with Mail 2.0 and the server.
    Emails I have: Gmail (IMAP), AOL (IMAP), ME (IMAP), Yahoo (won't IMAP in 2.0 without upgrade, just want it on Iphone and server to sync not 2.0), and lastly Comcast (POP, but will probably import into Gmail....Not now though! haha)
    Is any of this possible? I tried every setting on the Iphone, 2.0, and server. +(store sent here, move deleted there, do this after a month, do that after a week, etc, etc, etc....it's different every place!)+ I can't get it! The most frustrating thing I have ever experienced with a phone. Thanks in advance.

    Yes, however At&T bought Cingular since then. It's not the phone. My husband has the same problem and this is my third iphone. 2nd was an uprade 3rd an early upgrade to the 3GS because I accidently stuck my phone into the washer. I always had the same problem with service and so does my husband. He is on his third phone as well. 2nd was an upgrade which got chopped by the lawnmower. All together we had 6 iphones different sim cards same bad service.
    I really want Apple to give people a choice with their service. I also own apple stocks and have done quite well with it. This will hurt them sooner or later. This is terrible service and every day I wonder how much will I take to support apple? I need a phone that can hold a conversation for a few minutes and one that doesn't tell me the number does not exist, when in fact it does (saved contact).
    Their airspace or whatever you call it is insuffient here and maybe elswhere, that's why I asked the questions: Is it just me?

  • BT most frustrating customer service experience in...

    I thought I would register for this site - only so I could share my experience of BT broadband customer support. It will come as no surprise to many of the customers of BT that my experience is a poor one.. but by posting I hope to clear some of the frustration that I am feeling and get on with the rest of my day. 
    The context is that I fequently have poor connection speeds or no service at all. most of the time I do not bother to call support as I know the experience is horrible. Today though I did call as I am really considering switching to another provider and thought I would give BT a chance to assist me.  Here are a list of my complaints as sent to BT today.  You might find the transcript of my conversation with the support rep of interest:
    1) Frequently have issues with intermittent service and poor connection speeds.
    2) Automated Phone system VERY frustrating when trying to contact BT customer services. Today have worked out the quickest way of getting through to support team involves TEN different options having to be chosen
    A real example from today follows:
    1 - enter your number
    2 - select 4 for fault
    3 - select 2 for broadband
    4 - Listen to advice
    5 - please hold
    6 - if you have a problem with broadband press 1
    7 - press 2 if your phone is working
    8 - listen to advice to use online help
    9 - press 2 if you don't want to use online help
    10 - if you are experiencing slow speed press 3
    11- listen to message "we randomly select people to provide feedback please press 1"
    12 - please hold to be connected.
    3) Once you DO get through to a human you are frequently told you need to be transferred to another department or get cut off - having to call through again. I had to make 7 separate calls today and still have not had my issue resolved.
    Today I was told today after 7 separate calls to the Customer Service team for Broadband problems that I would be called back by a specialist team between 12 and 2Pm today. I was not called back and then called back myself to ask what the promised update was progressing. Here are some notes from that call - I have tried to quote verbatim where possible (its not exact .. but hopefully allow you to get the gist of it):
    Me: explain that I have called in several times - the latest at 9:am this morning was when I went through a series of tests, and was advised that my problem would be referred to the Network support team who would call me back between 12 and 2pm - as it was now 2:15 and no call I was ringing to see what the update was.
    BT: whenever any cases are raised to the network faults team. It goes to anyone of them randomly. So the person to whom this fault is assigned may not be there in their shift.
    Me: Can you please check?
    BT: (after wait) He is not on the shift.
    Me: Ok so what is the update please?
    BT: So I will be running a few tests. So that I can find out how your internet works over the past few.
    Me: Yes but would you be able to look up the update that I have been waiting for please? you ran these tests several times this morning.
    BT Yes I will need some few minutes.
    Me: thats fine I have been waiting since 9am this morning and this is my seventh call to BT customer service. I have been waiting for just under 8 minutes on this call so far. Happy to wait.
    BT: are you using a laptop or desktop?
    Me: Ipad
    BT: And do you see the lights on the router changing when the service drops out.
    Me: I have already answered these exact questions this morning at 9:am
    BT: OK sire (?) - the line will go quiet now then.
    (after about 5 minutes)
    BT: Please allow me one more minute
    BT: The test shows no fault in BT network.
    Me: May I ask why I have been waiting for an update then?
    BT: The work has been done.We generally ask the customer to wait for update. Its a very good constant speed - you are getting a speed of over 8MB. There has been no issue for the last 18 days.
    ME: right ok. So - when did this come back on? - because I was told this morning at 9am that there was a known issue in this area which had been resolved but when they ran a test this morning on my line they said there were still some problems and that this would referred to the network support team.
    BT: Let me tell you what this means - whenever the level 1 team runs any test - they try to .. if there is any fault they find it and go ahead and make it very simple to test the network in your property. I have made distinction and everything is working very good in BT network. A good consistent stable broadband.
    ME: So why was I told there was a problem this morning
    BT: That is right -  something is affecting your internet internally. There has been no issue for the last 18 days.
    ME: if it internal to me.. why when I call the main number BT and type my phone number in, does it say there has been a major network issue in my area
    BT: No this is not correct.
    Me: but when I call BT I get a recorded message saying that has been a major outage in my area which has now been corrected but you are saying that there is no issue.
    BT: we must do some troubleshooting - I promise I will help in the quickest way I can.
    ME how will you do your troubleshooting? because I cannot connect my ipad via ethernet. - which is what I know from experience you will ask me to do.
    BT: (incoherent)
    ME: I am sorry but I don't understand what you are saying - would you mind repeating the exact practical steps that you want me to perform?
    BT: ONCE YOU ARRANGE ANY WIRELESS DEVICE LIKE LAPTOP. WE IMPROVE YOUR WIRELESSLY CONNECTIVITY. THEN AT THE SAME MOMENT OF TIME WE CAN CHECK THE WIRELESS CONNECTION.
    ME: PLEASE TELL ME THE ACTUAL PRACTICAL STEPS.
    BT: STEP 1: ARRANGE FROM YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS AND THEN I CAN HELP YOU. TO GET YOUR WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY IMPROVED.
    YOU NEED TO ARRANGE ANY LAPTOP SO THAT WE CAN CHECK AND GET YOUR WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY IMPROVED.
    ME: ----> BORROW A LAPTOP?.... descends into a furious rage.....dials off..
    4) I am paying £26.80 per month for slow broadband and £14.45 for line rental - despite the fact that I do not have a landline. I am fairly sure that this was not the deal I signed up to when I first started my BT service and do not understand how you can be charging me such an uncompetitive deal.
    5) I also have BT vision but am charged on a separate bill and cannot speak to a single person about my entire account as Vision is dealt with by a different team. As stated previously I would rather boil my head than have to call through the automated telephone system so rarely ring to speak to two teams.
    I am awaiting a response from BT. - Lets see.
    .... breath out ... and relax...

  • Is it just me or is using the iPhone become the most frustrating and worst experience ever

    Ever since I updated my phone to the iOS 8 and iOS 8.0.2 the phone gets blocked, sometimes I can't answer calls, sometimes it leaves applications while I'm still using them. it takes time to reacts to what I'm typing, the autocorrect is very anoying it imposes corrections u have to accept them then erase the word again and rewrite it the way you want.
    I Encouraged all my friend to update; and now wether they have the 4s or more recent devices  the yare all blaming me for what is happening to their phones

    I get better 3G signal after the last update and in some areas where I used to get 1 or 2 bars maximum, now I get 3 and it is not dropping like before.

  • Frustrating Experience with Envy 17-inch TouchSmart

    Bought the M7-J010DX (17-inch TouchSmart Envy) as a refurb from Woot 2 weeks ago. It arrived Monday and I left it plugged in overnight but the battery did not charge. 
    TLDR: battery won't charge; I would prefer they send me a new battery before I send the whole comp back to them. Also, the touchpad sucks. 
    Spent 60 minutes on a chat with Support on Thursday and they came to the conclusion that the AC adapter was bad. It was not warming up and the battery was not charging. The rep said they will ship me a new AC adapter and that I would receive a call. 
    Spent another frustrating 40 minutes on the phone with them on Friday recounting the entire chat and having to go through the same exact troubleshooting again, even though they already approved it. Had to wait for a hardware manager who finally came to the same conclusion. 
    They sent me a replacement charger (overnight) and I got it today (Monday). It did not work... 
    The battery still won't charge. So I spent another 110 minutes on chat going over it. The rep actually gave me instructions that said "charge the battery to 99 or 100%"... to which I responded "THIS IS WHY I AM CONTACTING YOU... I CAN'T CHARGE IT". They also told me to run the battery diagnostic in the BIOS... which does not exist. 
    So it seems like the problem is the battery or the circiutry in the laptop that charges the battery. They said they will take it back for diagnostics... but I don't want them to "fix" an already refurbished computer. I would prefer they just send me a battery to rule that out first. 
    Also, the trackpad/touchpad really doesn't seem right. I don't know if this is how it is supposed to be or if I got a bad one... but it just isn't as "smooth" as ANY other one I have used in the last 15 years. I can't really be precise with it because it just doesn't seem to track right. Is this normal, or yet another hardware problem with this computer?
    I love the specs and size of this and I think it was a great deal... but don't want to keep it if this is the way it's going to be.
    Any suggestions?

  • It took forever to get the Adobe Acrobat DC to download, it finally did and I am trying to convert a file from PDF to RTF and it is telling me that I am not connected to the Internet.  This is the MOST frustrating product I have ever tried to use!!  Why i

    I don't want other people to answer this question,  I want a an Adobe support person to answer the question.
    Why can't we get support??  We paid for a product that is not able to be supported????

    We are extremely sorry that you have had a bad experience with Adobe .
    As far as your issue is concerned ,Acrobat generally prompts for internet connection as it is required to activate the product before you could use it comfortably .Once the product is activated or licensed you would be able to use the software offline .
    This could be the possible reason you are experiencing this .Please check if you have done so and still facing this .And if you have not ,you need to license/activate your product by typing in your credentials ,i.e Adobe ID and password .

  • The most frustrating software i have ever used.

    I am getting an error message "The localized resource files for this application could not be loaded.  Please reinstall or repair the application and try again.  This I have been doing since 9:00 a.m. this morning.  I purchased the Student version of Illustrator 4 and photoshop 4 for my highschooler who is planning on majoring in graphic arts.  I am no IT person but I have loaded software before.  I have been trying to load (correctly) illustrator for the past two weeks.  At each step there was a problem that took me days/ to resolve.  As i said, I am no IT person.  Below is  a message I posted earlier today.  I finally found an answer posted by someone named Bret and it worked!!!!!.  Please can someone help me with the above problem.  I am so afaid of installing Photoshop extended if I can get illustrator.
    I am far from being an IT person and am very frustrated in loading this software.   I purchased the student version of Adobe photoshop  CS4 extended and Adobe Illustrator CS4.  My daughter had put a trial version on our computer for an art project. A month later I purchased both Adobe photoshop cs4 extended  and Illustrator 4.  I had trouble loading illustrator until I deleted the trial version.  After deleting cs4 extended, the illustrator worked. However something messed up my printer.  I did a system restore (opps) which messed up my Macafee virus.  I finally fixed Macafee with the help of the customer service.  However, the system restore took off the illustrator and put the cs4 extended version back on.  What a DAY.  I waited a week to try to reinstall illustrator and the CS4 extended.  Now my system will not let me uninstall the trial version nor put illustrator on correctly.  Help--you are my only hope.

    No you just squeeze under that it would seem, correct?
    But then there is the system and the other applications running like your e-mail clients and browser and they all use RAM.
    So I thin you might be running into t bottle neck.
