A215 S7437 headphones

I had these headphones to use Vent to talk with friends. I now use to it watch anime when people are in the room I'm in not to disturb them. But now,I all hear instead of the voices are this like weird sound. If I push the sound input in harder,I can actually hear the voices clearly. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

Hi Shanuro,
You can try these simple tricks:
1. Try to uninstall and resinstall Sound card driver.
2. Try using a different headphones.
If same problem is happening with a different headphone, then there could be a problem with the headphone port. If the laptop is still under warranty, just call 1800-457-7777 and get it fixed under your warranty. If not, check for your local computer centers.

  • A215-S7437 - headphone and microphone + soundcard problems

    Hi there,
I searched in several parts of the Internet for instructions on how to make my headphone and microphone jacks work as properly as they were when I got a Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 laptop.
One day I heard an odd sound in my headphone and/or microphone outlets, and sometime (probably a day) later, my laptop completely froze (even I couldn't move the mouse) whenever I start running the microphone's driver.  Next, I found one thread in this forum saying that I must reinstall the Realtek audio driver, but when I did, and after I plug in the headphones and microphone, the speakers stay on, while the microphone doesn't function at all and the volume control on the bottom-right corner of the screen can't adjust the volume when the headphones and microphone were inserted, although the slider can still be moved.  Then I found another thread that said to set the headphones to default while making sure the microphone is unmuted.
I'm also going to ask how to record audio on-screen, like using Audacity to record what's playing in an .SWF audio player. The desktops I have at home already included that function when they were brand new, but not this laptop.
I need to know how to solve these problems.  I appreciate it.

  • Sattelite A215-S7437 startup failure

Note: My Laptop does not have a battery.
When I plug in my A215-S7437 and press the power button the hard drive makes a spinning noise for a moment and then stops. The fan spins normally and the screen stays black, doesn't even turn on the backlight. The fan puts out hot air after a while of running. Connecting it to a VGA Monitor does nothing. Anybody know what's going on?

  • Crazy Vista on Satellite A215-S7437 - How to restore it?

    Hi,
    I really need help.
I have a Satellite A215-S7437 and the windows Vista is crazy.
I want to restore the laptop with the recovery partition.
I haved read that if i want to boot with this hidden recovery partition i need to press the 0 zero key when i turn it on.
But it dosen't work in any way.
IS THERE OTHER WAY TO BOOT FROM THIS PARTITION....?
    help, help me.

Just to let you know this notebook does not have a hidden partition
In order for you to run the recovery process you need the recovery DVDs that came with this notebook
If you dont have them you will porobably need to contact Toshiba support in the US to order the recovery disks because this is US made notebook
Sorry about that inconvenice but that is the issue
here is the web site for that specific notebook

  • 1.90 BIOS Update for Satellite A215-S7437 doesnt work

I tried updating to the latest BIOS 1.90 on my Satellite A215-S7437 laptop but i found out that it froze at saying it was reading Old Bios, i let it sit still for 2 hours and then i did a hard shutdown. Then rebooted laptop, thankfully i did not bricked it had i done so my motherboard would be useless or would it?  My knowledge about BIOSes is limited but i do know something didnt go right.  Well only reason i was updating was because i saw that it added compatibility with Windows 7 and i plan to get Windows 7.  So is it worth the risk or would i be fine installing Windows 7 without the latest update which introduces 2.1 slic.
Also is there a way to check if my old bios didnt get affected, i mean i know laptop is working right now but who knows. If my Bios ever gets bricked what would i do to fix it?
BTW this is the update that i found not to work for me. Even though its for my model of laptop.

If it's working correctly your old bios wasn't affected.  Since if froze while READING the bios it hadn't had time to actually write any new information yet.  That is what saved you.  If it had frozen while WRITING the new data it would have required sending it in to Toshiba for a repair.  If you decide to update the bios again you need to read the instructions for flashing From the bootable BIOS installation CD-ROM.  That is a MUCH safer way to accomplish this.  ALso make sure you are running on AC power.  NEVER FLASH WHILE ON BATTERY POWER although you do want the battery installed.
I wouldn't update it unless you have to.  Wait to see if Windows 7 is NOT able to install or activate.  This is especially true if your system is out of warranty as you'll have to pay to get it fixed.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • RTC battery problem A215-S7437

    Hi all,
I have been having problems with my Satellite A215-S7437 laptop getting a "CMOS checksum bad" error upon startup for the past couple of months. This error usually occurs the first time I start the computer up in the morning. I press F1 to load defaults and windows starts as normal. No bigs. I tried to charge the RTC battery by leaving the computer plugged in (charging) and on for 24 hours. This didn't seem to help. I also recently updated the BIOS to the latest version. This hasn't helped either.
In addition, sometimes, especially when I haven't turned the computer on for a while, it will fail to boot. No splash screen, just lights and normal HD powering up sound but nothing else. I power-cycle the machine about 10 times and eventually it will start, give me two system beeps and the checksum bad error. I hit F1 to load defaults and Windows starts normally. Today I got a new error "ERROR 0250: System battery is dead - replace and run SETUP. ERROR 02B0: Diskette drive A error. Press F1 to load defaults, F2 to setup." The machine did not respond when I pressed F1 or F2, so I power-cycled it and got my familiar CMOS checksum bad error and it started as usual.
All this to say that I am convinced that my RTC battery is well and truly the cause of my problems and should be replaced. Now, the question is whether or not it can be done without sending my ~3-year-old laptop to a ASP 3 hours away and paying an arm and a leg. I do have a kind friend who I am confident can perform laptop surgery to replace the RTC battery without killing it.
Does anyone know what kind of RTC battery this model takes? Is it soldered to the motherboard? How much would it cost to have the ASP take care of it?
    Thanks for all your help.
    Regards,
    T

    Hello
Googling around I found info that for Satellite A210 (similar to your US A215) you can use follow RTC batteries:
    RTC battery (Maxell ML1220T10) Lithium-Ion 3.0V 14 mAH
    RTC battery (Maxell ML1220HT10) Lithium-Ion 3.0V 18 mAH
    RTC battery (Sanyo ML1220T28) Lithium-Ion 3.0V 15 mAH
    RTC battery (Panasonic ML1220/B) Lithium-Ion 3.0V 17 mA
Replacement procedure is pretty complicated and the whole notebook must be disassembled. If you are not familiar with this stuff you should not do this to avoid some hardware damage.
I dont know how much you must pay for replacement by ASP. Call and ask them.
    Bye

  • A215-S7416 Headphone jack

I can't get my headphones to work when I plug them in. I have looked online, thought I found the repair to the problem. Which was stated as a vista error. Downloaded something, it fixed it. Then shut it off, and next time I booted it up, and tried my headphones they wouldn't work again. This is what happens, I plug in, my speakers stay as the sound source, and my headphones won't do anything. When I tested to make sure my jack wasn't broken, My headphones played the beep noise loud and clear. Can't figure this one out. Is it a toshiba problem, or a vista problem. And if you know the answer to that then I would hope you would know how to fix it. Its getting real irratating. Thanks.
P.S. tried searching for what I downloaded, but I can't even remember what it was. And Also my directional pad doesn't work sometimes. Usually it happens after it has had a long period of rest with out use, any suggestions, ideas, or known problem with this?

I have the same problem with the headphone jack - no idea what the problem is.
As for the touchpad that happened to me a while ago and I searched online and had to download something to do with the synaptics pointing device. Though maybe yours is just switched off. In the mouse properties menu i was missing a tab (either hardware or device settings, can't remember) if you have the device settings tab make sure your pointing device is enabled. If there isn't anything there you probably need to download it.

  • Overheating A215-S7437

Before I give up and replace my hard drive (which HDDLife software reports that it's functionwell but overheating) can anyone tell me how to keep my system cool? It's being reported to heating up as high as 49C before I shut it down. Right now it's at 46C and the warning is sounding every couple of minutes despite having a laptop fan running underneith and a desktop fan running behind it. There doesn't seem to be any way to keep this unit cool despite having two fans working on this task. A little history. Before installing this software the system recently started shutting down unexpectedly without any warning of any kind. I've been using the laptop fan when at home but the overheating started occurring while traveling last month. Does anyone know of any solution other than a hard drive replacement. BTW... the built in laptop cooling fan does work.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

HDDLife also has hard drive identifying features and reported my hard drive to be a Toshiba Mk2035GSS, 200 Gb, ATA/ATAPI-7 SATAI. By removing the cover for the hard drive I get the drive operating at 31C instead of the 36C with the fan blowing on it and 46C despite having a cooling pad under it.
At your suggestion I installed HD Tune and did some testing. Three different areas reported 21, 19 and 17 bad sectors where the data had been moved away from. There are no other programs running in the background and I don't get any processor overheating reports on other software monitoring my hardware so I think I'm about to install a new hard drive. In retrospect, the botom line is the hard drive will over heat even with a cooling pad below this system. It took a 12" desktop fan blowing directly on the hard drive side of the system to keep it cool and it cooled down even more with the bottom cover removed. I did get my data backed up. Halajula! At least I'm safe no matter what happens.
You've been very helpful and I appreciate your time and concerns. Thank you.

  • Error updating BIOS from Windows Vista: error -15. Satellite a215-s7437

I've tried to update the BIOS of this laptop which currently runs version 1.2, when the latest version is 2.0. When I run the BIOS update from Windows Vista, it fails with error code -15, with a message similar to "current BIOS checksum fail". The laptop was bought in Spain. Any ideas? The knowledge base was completely useless for this issue. Pedro.

Does the computer still work at this point?

  • Connect Laptop to a TV

I have Satelite A215-s7437 and I would like to know what I need to hook my laptop to my TV. Any Suggestions? Also my DVD/VCR is Toshiba.

Well I see that your laptop has an s-video out port and a VGA port, but
it also depends on what inputs are available on your TV,
your VCR/DVD probably has component (red, yellow and white) and Coax.
The cable you want should have an s-video at one end and on the other anything else
(it can be another s-video or component or even HDMI), but it depends on
your tv and whether you want to connect to the DVD/VCR.
The reason that I'm not mentioning VGA is because its
    an inferior way to connect.

  • Using the 2nd of a dual core processor

I have a dual core processor laptop and currently it isn't using the 2nd one at the moment. The first one is full and I am getting messages saying I have no memory space. How can I use the 2nd processor?

We need to know your full model number, like Satellite A215-S7437, and your Part Number, like PSAFGU-00L002.  You can find this information on the Toshiba label on the bottom of your computer. Also, we need your operating system version, like Windows 7 32bit.
In addition, give us the exact error message that you are getting. Do not paraphrase, spelling and syntax are important. A screen shot of the error message would be best.
However, I would mention that your processor(s), your available system RAM (Random Access Memory), and the available space on your HDD (Hard Disk Drive), are three completely different things.

  • My Belkin cooling pad?

For some reason,on the 2nd day I got my cooling pad,it makes a clunky disgusting sound when I turn on my computer after I wake up. Now,the sound got worse and when I move my laptop to adjust it,the fan once again makes the clunky sound. Some said that the fans were hitting the pad,but it wasn't. So I have no idea why the fan is doing this? Is it because my laptop is too hot?(Satellite A215-S7437). The cooling pad is Laptop Cooling pad model#F5L001 by Belkin.

I have been using a Belkin cooling pad since I bought the MacBook in 2008.....I run the MacBook in Clamshell mode using an external monitor......the MacBook will still heat up under heavy use, but it takes longer for it to do so and it cools down quicker....
.....using iStat Pro to monitor some temps... the bottom of the MacBook stays really cool as does the hard drive and I suspect the battery does too....it is the original battery and according to iStat it's Health remains at 100%...
....I have it plugged into a Firewire/USB hub instead of tying up one of my 2 USB ports.....

My laptop monitor will just go black from time to time, and it does it at different times, there is no specific thing that is causing this.  When I turn the comp off and then back on again the monitor will come back on and be fine.

  • A215 Satelite. Plugged in headphones. Now no sound at all

I had sound for years. Today I plugged in headphones for the first time. Seems like I heard a faint static. However, no other sound.
I unplugged the earphones, and now my internal speakers do not produce any sound, except when I reboot. I hear 2 or 3 popping sounds before my laptop even loads windows.
I have disabled/ re-enabled onboard sound, tried plugging/unplugging earhone jack repeatedly, updated to latest Realtek drivers, and updated BIOS to version 2.0. I have also taken battery and ac power out, then held power button 30+ seconds. Still no sound except for pops.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Yea. I definitely checked that. Can't find anything muted or out of the ordinary.
