  • Documentation about Chart of Accounts (Group, Operative, Country-spec.)

    Hello,
I need a documentation (a graphic will be very fine) of the relationship/usage of the three platforms of chart of accounts.
    Group chart of accounts
    Operative chart of accounts
    Local (country-specific) chart of accouts
At "help.sap.com" i just could find a written one, but as i have to use it in a presentation, a picture/graphic will be much better.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Query About a Group Chart of Account

    Hello SAP Gurus,
My client has configured group Chart of Account for consolidation as well as keeping the GL code stucture uniform throughout the Global company codes. However, in OBY3 I can see that the same COA has been assigned as "Group COA". Also to inform you that all the company codes around the world use the same COA as their operating COA. They are not using different COAs.
Please let me know how this is possible? Can the same COA is assigned as Group COA to itself? I think a separate COA is created as Group COA and assigned to this operating COA.
    Please clarify my doubt.
    Thanks in advance
    Sagar

    Hi sagar
i will tell you how the group COA works.
suppose you have 2 company codes and you maintain same chart of account for both company codes. for consolidation you will have to maintain a group COA as your company is doing already.
now we maintain same account group and numbers too but for group COA and operational COA for option 1 as i said..
now there is a configuration we do
    see              fin a/c -
    > prepration for consolidation -
    > general specification   ..
thus for fetching consolidated data in the f.01 we give the global COA nd the FSV maintained for the same..
see whether your company is following this procedure if not then ask the end users how they fetch the consolidated data?
    what process they follow.

  • How to reassign new chart of accounts to company code

I created company code, assigned fiscal year K4 to 4040 co. code. Later on I created Open/Close Posting period/Assign Company code to Fiscal Year. I prepared new chart of accounts 4040 for Canadian company.
When I tried to assign 4040 chart of accounts to my company code in Fin Actg Global Settings, I notcied that automaticlly CACA (Chart of accounts Canada was already assigned. I tried to replac CACA by 4040 But error message "Reset company code data before changing the chart of accounts"
I tried to delete G/L accounts Tnasaction code OBR1 & OBR2 But nothing changed.
I wish to assignment of chart of accounts in company code in Global settings & wish to re-assign different chart of accounts. I have not created any assignment of company code to controlling area, plant, sales organization, etcu2026 While removing this it says Reset company code data before changing the chart of accounts. Screenshot is attached.
    1)       When I am trying to remove assignment of K4 fiscal year to company code it does not allow me. SO how to solve this problem.
Should I delete company code & then retry the same?
Please suggest how to reassign chart of accounts to company code as no data like customer, vendor or sales transaction is made.
    Pl advise solution THANKS

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for the answer. I have not copy any company code to my co. code 4040. Just as new entry I created 4040 company code. In Org object Check everything about table found OK. No seprate G/L A/C is created by me for co. code 4040
To see if company code is productive means Active? In "Enter Global Parameter? Tab-->Cost of Sales Accounting ACTV is 2. When I tried to make it Inactive (Blank), it is not allowing me and showing error msg as below.
You do this in Customizing as follows: Cross-Application Components -> Bank Directory -> Change Message Control.
I checked this but asking for Application Area to put & I do not know hwat area I should put.
Am I going right as suggested by you?
I had deleted G/L accounts earlier but Sales Actg is active so sould not go ahead.
As per Venkat I had decided to delete company code, But I want to solve without deletion.
I am SD guy so asking many Qs of FICO as I am learning now.
    Thanks
Reason why you are not able to delete the assignment is that, you have already created GL accounts for the COA. I hope you have not done any posting using those GL accounts.
First of all please make that you company code is not set as productive. if set prodictive you will not be able to delete any master data. So please remove the productive check(if any).
Then you try to delete the GL account that you have created for the COA. once you delete the GL account the system might ask for the deletion of the account group. After that you should be able to change the assignment.

  • Manual/Autometic creation of cost elements in chart of accounts field

    Dear Friends,
While creation of Chart of accounts (OB13) under  Controlling Integratiion tab
thers is two options are there.
1 manual creation of cost elements
2 autometic creation of cost elements.
While creation of cost elements if we select
(MANUAL CREATION OF COST ELEMENTS) what will happen???
(AUTOMETIC CREATION OF COST ELEMENTS) what will happen?
What is the main difference between about two fields?
    Thanks in advance,
       Mallika

    Hi,
MANUAL CREATION OF COST ELEMENTS -  Cost elements maintained manually. A push button is available for
this purpose, with which you can go directly to the related cost
    element.
AUTOMETIC CREATION OF COST ELEMENTS - Cost elements maintained automatically. When you save a new G/L
account, the related cost element is automatically created. A prerequisite is that a default value for the cost element category
has been set up for this cost element. If no default value is found, the system will not create a cost element.
You can make default settings via :
Cost Element accounting --> master data --> cost element --> automatic creation of primary and secondaru cost element --> make default settings

  • Hierarchical ID Recursion for Chart of Accounts

This must be a pretty standard report format but so far it looks as though I’m not smart enough to figure out how to get ‘er done. I’m using 2008 R2 to work with a hierarchy of about 30k GL accounts. The hierarchy is narrow at the top—only 5 subtrees (Assets,
Liabilities, etc.)—and it is only four levels deep but the bottom levels are several thousand accounts wide.
In addition to the original Account_Number and Parent_Number columns, a straight-forward T-SQL recursive CTE has produced 3 new columns which I suppose should be useful. I’ve tried to work through the SSRS help examples on How To Create a Recursive Hierarchy
Group but it’s not getting me where I want to go.
    Level     Hierarchy

I would like to a report which opens showing only the top 5 accounts but which will allow User to drill down through each of the remaining 3 levels. Using an expression to indicate level by simple indentation is not an option.
Please point me to an example or some more instructions.
    HomeCookN

    Hi There
As far as I understand you  have charts of account which have three levels and by default you would like to open first level and from there user will drill down to next level.
You could do it easily by creating three row groups and visibility of the second and third level will be hidden initially and use display can be toggle by report item as shown in the figure.
However if you don’t like to go on this track and give your user the option to select which level he would like to see after the first level then please create a parameter and give user the ability to go straight to that level.
I am putting some screenshot for your help.
If you still have a questions please let me know.

  • How to use my own chart of accounts

    Good afternoon,
I installed EBS 11i on WinXP a month ago for learning purpose
and never learned it before, so I am very new.
I got problem using my chart of account to create new journal.

    setup calendars,periods,books
    example : Set of Books = BOOK1
    Chart of Accounts = COA1
    2. using VIS data, login as user SYSDAMIN
setup new user = USER1 assign rolle : general ledger super user
Then Login as USER1, tied to create new journal,
than the windows show up automatically the account,
It was chart of account with seqment company, department, account, sub-account, product.

    Hi,
Acccording to the code of the message, it's a user-defined one. Therefore, you should check your settings. Most probably, you have activated user-exit for accounts master data (SAPMF02H enhancement).

  • Linking Multiple Group Chart of Accounts

    Hello,
    Our organizational structure is like
    ABC Holding Group
in ABC Holding Group there are several group of companies like AB Group, BF Group etc.
In AB Group, we have 2 companies PERU and JKRY
We have some confusion about the structure of COA in SAP, we are setting Operational Chart of Accounts for PERU and JKRY and will assigned Group chart of Accounts for AB Group then is it possible to assigned AB Group to ABC Holding Group by using ABC Holding group (Group chart of Account)?
ABC Holding Company (Group Chart of Accounts) Assigned AB Group COA
AB Group (Group Chart of Accounts) Assigned PERU and JKRY Operational Chart of Accounts
    Thanks,

  • Questions about Mapping GL Accounts to Group Accounts

    Hi,
I have some questions about mapping gl accounts to group accounts while configuring OBIEE APPS 7.9.6.3 with EBS R12 as a source:
    FIRST QUESTION.-
For file file_group_acct_codes_ora.csv, I have the following accounts from my customer:
    101101 - Caja Administrativa
    101102 - Fondo Revolvente
    101103 - Caja de Cambios
    101104 - Efectivo en cajero
This group of accounts is named CASH, now my customer said that this group begins in 101101 and ends in 101199 but in this moment only have this 4 accounts in GL, the rest of the accounts, I mean 101105-101199 are not used right now, they are gonna used in the future.
So, my question is, in file_group_acct_codes_ora.csv how I need to put this group:
    In this way:
    CHART OF ACCOUNTS ID,FROM ACCT,TO ACCT,GROUP_ACCT_NUM
    50308,101101,101104,CASH
    Or in this way:
    CHART OF ACCOUNTS ID,FROM ACCT,TO ACCT,GROUP_ACCT_NUM
    50308,101101,101199,CASH
I mean, is there any problem if I use the second way, or is necessary to do it in the first way, and why?
    SECOND QUESTION.-
For file file_group_acct_names.csv, when I update with a new group of accounts, is there any rule or size boundary for GROUP_ACCOUNT_NAME?
    THIRD QUESTION.-
For file_group_acct_names.csv, what is the value in column LANGUAGE? I mean, is EBS language?, DB language?, server language?
I hope that someone can help me, because I need to clarify this and don't do the first full load and this load ends with error because of this.
    Regards,
    Arnulfo

I'll take some broad swipes at this and let the smarter people come fill in the details.
We have a true 1:1 setup in our office and have moved to PHDs as a means of protecting against downtime. The thinking is that we will have a spare machine lying around with our base installation ready to go. If a user's machine fails we'll replace it with the spare machine, let it sync the user directory from the server, and we're back in business. It's no substitute for a real backup system, but it potentially avoids having to run a restore from your backups. It also reduces network traffic compared to plain networked homes, and still lets your users work if the server goes down, but provides the benefits of centralized management. John DeTroye wrote a nice article about this.
If you've already got data on your "client" Mac you will need to move it onto the server. PHDs will download data from the server to the client on the first sync, but will not upload a complete home directory from the client to an empty directory on the server. You'll find some posts in this forum discussing how people have gone about migrating data prior to that first sync.
WGM allows you to establish exclusions for stuff you don't want to sync.
One thing to watch out for in the scenario you describe is the so-called "rabbit effect." Assume Bob uses Mac1 as his primary machine. If one day he logs into Mac2 his home directory will be downloaded to Mac2. Once he returns to Mac1 he'll still be cluttering up Mac2 with his data. If he logs into Mac3 the next day and Tom and Sue are also periodically logging into different machines, you can see how you'll end up with a mess pretty quickly.
    Hope this helps.

  • GL A/c numbering logic for chart of accounts BAIN

    Hi,
Will any expert pl let mek now What is the GL A/c numbering logic for chart of accounts BAIN (BAIN is standard ch of A/c for India apart from CAIN)?
    Regards
    Anand

Your question is not clear about numbering logicu2026
First of all the GL Account # are always externally assigned (it can be either numeric and alphanumeric)
The length of GL account is 10 digits. But if you give it as 6 in TC OB13 then
    u2022     Numerical account numbers
The system includes zeros to the left of the number
    0000001234
    u2022     Alpha-numeric account numbers
The system includes zeros to the right of the number
    1131DB0000

In above posts you have solution to your problem but maybe you can think about changeing the design slightly.
I would suggest using parent_id to find parent account, instead of operations on strings which can be slower in larger tables.
    SQL> create table t14(id int, account_code varchar2(16), account_name varchar2(32), parent_id int)
      2  /
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into t14 values(1,'01','Assets',null);
    1 row created.
    SQL> insert into t14 values(2,'01001','Current Assets',1);
    1 row created.
    SQL> insert into t14 values(3,'01002','Current Assets',1);
    1 row created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.
    SQL> select * from t14;
            ID ACCOUNT_CODE     ACCOUNT_NAME                      PARENT_ID
             1 01               Assets
             2 01001            Current Assets                            1
             3 01002            Current Assets                            1
    SQL> select lpad(' ',2*(level-1)) || account_code as account_code, account_name
      2  from t14
3  start with parent_id is null connect by prior id = parent_id
      4  /
    ACCOUNT_CODE                   ACCOUNT_NAME
    01                             Assets
      01001                        Current Assets
      01002                        Current AssetsWith kind regards

  • Assign Chart of account to Controlling area

    Hi,
Why we assign Chart of account to Controlling area ?
    Regards,
    Pankaj

    Hi,
First of all I would like to tell you that we don't assign Chart of Accounts to a Controlling Area. It is the Company Codes that are assigned to the Controlling Area.
Now, the basic purpose of defining a Controlling area is that we want to capture cost and revenues for Internal Management Reporting. So this is where the Internal Accounting comes into play where we want to know about the internal reports pertaining to product cost, cost center reports, profit center reports, margins, contributions etc. All these helps us to analyses  the "Bottom Line"- Profit.
But the question that arises is how the expenses that are arising at the Financial accounting level be moved to the controlling area level? For this we assign company codes to a controlling area, but they should have the same chart of accounts and same fiscal year variants. Now the chart of accounts are nothing but a classification of structure and basic information about the G/L accounts. The  expenses that the company is incurring for its smooth operations are captured in the G/L accounts. The G/L accounts are defined under some specific Accounts group e.g.. Administrative Expenses, Depreciations, Secured Loans, Sundry Creditors etc. The frame work of these account groups is contained at the Chart of Accounts level.
So how should we make these values flow from FI to CO? The answer is that we will create these G/L accounts as Primary cost elements in Controlling. This ensures that expenses in Fi and the Primary Cost Elements in Co can be reconciled. So now there is a link that is been provided between FI and CO. This enables us to get both Eternal and Internal reports. Now, when we are assigning more than One company codes to one controlling area, then we should also have the same chart of accounts and G/L accounts so that we are able to draw reports easily without any discrepancies in the G/L accounts. For Company codes having different chart of acounts, we need to assign them to different controlling areas.
So in brief this is the role of Chart of Accounts in Controlling. I hope that you would be satisfied with the answer.
    Regards,
    Dhruv.

  • OB58 - Change chart of accounts

    Hi,
How can I change, in mass way,  a chart of account in a copied financial statement?
I have a new company code (J2) and a new chart of accounts (K2) as a copy company code (J1) and chart of accounts (K1).
So, there are the same accounts in two statements but different chart.
Normally, system in a new/copied statement keeps an information about an old chart of account and I have to manually change all items.
    regards
    Piotr

    Hi,
Firstly it should be doen manually only.
But in case of your GL accounts are same in both COA, then change the COA key manully in OB58 in the new /copied  FSV's properties.
    Thanks,
    Srinu

  • Edit Chart of Account

    Hi Experts,
I want to shift one GL account from assets to liabilities.
The account which I want to transfer is a control accunt & also used in GL account determination, during implementation this account was wrongly placed in liabilities however this has to be placed in asstes drawer.
when I try to relocate the account there is a message as follows
Cannot transfer reconc. account to another group  [Message 750-21]
So, need your help how to resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Waqas

    Hai!
This is the solution proposed by SAP Support...
The issue is reproducible in a India demo DB for both versions 2005B PL45 and 2007B PL11.
Currently this is the current system behaviour for both versions as the account Goods Received not invoice clearing (GRNI) has been defined under GL Account determination-stock tab and also WH account ing tab .
Nevertheless after further investigation we managed to move the account to the expenditure drawer. Find below a workaround which allow the system move the account to the expediture drawer.
1.Remove the account 208040 from GL account determination - stock tab and also from any Warehouse definition
2.Go to Edit Chart of account and select Liabilities and Expenditure drawer.
3.Set the account 208040 as Level 2 and update
4.Move the account to expediture account
Please be aware that this change will have accounting consequences (e.g P&L report...) therefore makes sure customer accountant agree about this change. Please check the attach note 812315.
