About IRM11g silent installation

hi Experts,
I am using irm11g, according to doc for sillent installation, I used the following command in doc prompt:
OracleIRMDesktop_x64_en.exe /v' /qn AUTHENTICATION_SUPPRESSPRIVACYPOLICYDIALOG=1 SYNCLOCKEDSERVERS="https://host1.example.com/irm_desktop/|1" SYNCINITIALSERVERS="https://host1.example.com/irm_desktop/|1"'
IRM desktop had been installed successfully, but I did not find any server in the list in IRM desktop UI->servers.
I found in windows registry table, initialized server and locked server has been added under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\IRM\Sync.
This is a new installed IRM desktop, no previous IRM desktop has been installed before.
When I synchronize rights from desktop UI, it showed me "no irm server available".
What's wrong with it?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Lan

Hello Lan,
If you are installing 11.1.41.6 on a 64-bit system (e.g. Windows7 x64) then this is a known problem in the 64-bit installer. It places the keys in the wrong place. If you are a customer, login to My Oracle Support and pick up patch 12870019 to install and fix it.
Regards,
Frank.

  • Unattended / silent installation

    Hi,
    I'm looking for a way to install Boot Camp 3.0 and the 3.1 update on Macs silently as a part of a Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit) deployment solution.
    I know the BootCamp.msi (or BootCamp64.msi) can be silently installed, but what about the drivers?
    Has anybody performed a successful, completely silent, installation?
    Best regards,
    Mikael Karlsson

    Most MSIs support quiet install flags, call the msi from a batch script or directly from the command line with...
    msiexec.exe /i "isntaller.msi" /qn
    for an install with no user input. Have a look at msiexec.exe /? for more.

  • Behavior of silent installer not completely specified

    On page 3 of the "Adobe AIR 1.5 Runtime Redistribution Instructions" under "Silent installation" states in part:
    The AIR application installer installs the correct version of Adobe AIR on the target computer, as required by the AIR application to be installed. For example, if the AIR application to be installed requires the AIR 1.1 runtime, and the end user’s computer has only AIR 1.0 installed (or no version of AIR installed), the installation process installs the AIR 1.1 runtime along with the AIR application.
    and then:
    To install or update the runtime only, use the -silent option without specifying a path or any other options.
    However, the instruction do not specify what happens in the following case:
    + The -silent option is used to update the runtime only.
    + The user already has a newer version of AIR on his/her computer than what is about to be installed.
    What happens in this case?  Does the installer:
    A) Do nothing and exit successfully?
    B) Downgrade the user's installed AIR version?
    C) Exit with an error code, message, or dialog?
    D) Something else??

    When a newer version of the runtime is already installed, the installer (running in silent mode) does nothing and exits.
    Note that to install Adobe AIR silently, you must contact Adobe and request an Adobe AIR runtime redistribution license. It sounds like you have already done this, Paul, but I just want others to know. Here are details:

  • Urgent: How to do the Silent Installation for J2RE v1.4.1

    Hi guyz,
    Can anyone tell me How to perform Silent Installation of J2RE v 1.4.1.
    I checked out with J2RE V 1.4.2 which supports Silent mode installation but not JRE 1.4.1
    thanks in advance,
    Saurabh Bhatnagar

    Hi People,
    Just found out a site which has information on Silent Installation of JRE 1.4.1 ... but its not a straight fwd one. You need to run the installer atleat once to create a response file which will ecord your actions and you can use it in later installs for a silent installation.
    The article says about Slent installation in JRE 1.3 but I just check it ... and it works perfectly with JRE 1.4.1 also.
    Here's the link

    Hope it might of help to some of you ......

  • Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release2 11.2.0 silent Installation failing with port8081 error

    Hi everyone,
    We are trying to create silent(unattended) install package to install Oracle database 11g express edition 11.2.0 silently on our machines. We modified the provided .iss file as per the requirement and tried to install with below command,
    setup.exe /verbose /s /f1"c:\DISK1\response\oracleXE-install.iss" /f2"c:\DISK1\oracle_log.txt" /v" /l*v "c:\DISK1\oracle_msi_log.txt""
    Installation is failing with below error from the log file,
    1: OracleXE-Server-Install-Message: Port 8081 is in use. Specify a different port number.
    Installshield 11:22:22: Installation aborts, ready to shut down.
    Port 8081 is being used by mcAfee in our organization. We tried passing a different port number for Http in the response file(.iss), but it is failing with same reason.  We have searched foruns and found that we need to stop the port8081 during the oracle XE installation and can start it later once the installation is completed. But As port 8081 is being used by McAfee in our organization, we could not stop it even during oracle XE installation as it creates security issues.
    I am attaching the MSI log(failure log) and modified .iss(modfied .iss file to .iss.txt to be able to attach) files. Please look into it and suggest how can we achieve silent installation in this case.

    Pl see previous discussions about this topic - seems to be a limitation of the silent install process
    OracleXE-Server-Install-Message: The 8081 port is in use.

  • Client 11g silent installation guidance

    Hello everyone,
    I am just starting my journey into the world of Oracle. Typically it has not been a smooth start hence my post here.
    I have been asked to arrange a silent install of the 11g Client (v11.1.0.6.21 specifically) onto a Windows XP machine. I diligently did some reading on the net as there is zero documentation or install media here - just the installation files. I managed to create a response file using "setup.exe -record -destinationFile newbie.rsp", modified some minor settings and tried to:
         setup.exe -silent -noconfig -nowait -responsefile "c:\newbie.rsp"
    Unfortunately I just cannot get the text-based "Oracle Universal Installer" window to hide during the install, regardless of what I put in the response file. So I am not doing very well on the "silent install" front.
    Then I found this thread:     Oracle Client 11g Release 2 silent installation.
    However the installer I have doesn't seem to have the "save the current session as a record file" option.
    So, would someone be kind enough to point me in the direction of some up to date doco I can read please? I am keen to learn all about this but I just can't seem to find a place to start.
    Any suggestions are greatly received and appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Troy

    Thanks for the swift response Ansiktet!
    +>>There is an default response file provided in the installation directory,+
    Great. The only file & folder structure I have starts from:
         \install
              \access\...
              \images\...
              \reource\....
              access_setup.bat
              addLangs.bat
              oraparam.ini
              oui.exe
              unzip.exe
         \stage
              \Actions\...
              \Components\...
              \Queries
              install1.jar
              invDetails.properties
              products.xml
              shiphomeinfo.properties
              shiphomeproperties.xml
         setup.exe
    I have had a look through and can't find a sample response file. Does this file & folder structure match what you were expecting I should have? And if so, where might I find the sample please?
    +>> you can make it easy for you and just edit this one, its quite self-explaining.+
    I found a few examples on the net and the "-record" option generated a very nice one for me to start from.
    The problem is, regardless of what I put in, the OUI command-line style window always seems to be displayed.
    I have put in lines such as:
         FROM_LOCATION="\\Software\Apps\Third party\Oracle\Client 11g\stage\products.xml"
         ACCEPT_LICENSE_AGREEMENT=true
         SHOW_SPLASH_SCREEN=false
         SHOW_WELCOME_PAGE=false
         SHOW_RELEASE_NOTES=false
         SHOW_SUMMARY_PAGE=false
         SHOW_CUSTOM_TREE_PAGE=false
         SHOW_COMPONENT_LOCATIONS_PAGE=false
         SHOW_INSTALL_PROGRESS_PAGE=false
         SHOW_REQUIRED_CONFIG_TOOL_PAGE=false
         SHOW_CONFIG_TOOL_PAGE=false
    +>> Then you run it with the same command you used before.+
    The comment in the other thread implied this method has been superceeded. Are you familiar with the newer method and where I might find some doco on it (to educate myself)?
    Thanks again,
    Troy

  • Oracle Linux Release 5 Silent installation

    How do you setup a silent installation on an Oracle Linux Release 5 ISO?

    I think the answer to that is Kickstart. Using kickstart, a system administrator can create a single file containing the answers to all the questions that would normally be asked during a typical installation. You can find information about it in the standard installation guide at https://linux.oracle.com/documentation/ chapter 31.

  • I need help on creating a silent installer/ finding out parameters

    On Adobe Reader, under preferences, I need to create an AIP/Silent installer/Parameter to make PDF/A View Mode drop-down box to read documents as "never" upon installation. I will be running an update on Adobe Reader and will need to be passing these updates through a software deployment and distribution tool known as WPKG. When the application installs and launches it must automatically have these preferences without the end-user needing to do these corrections. Anyone familiar with the command line needed? Can anyone help? I don't have much experience with the program.

    I suggest you put your project on hold for a little while,
    and get and read the appropriate chapters in
    Web Application Construction Kit by Ben Forta. You can learn
    more about it here -
    http://www.forta.com/books/0321223675/.
    Once you have the concepts down, you will have a much more focused
    idea about what to do.

  • Silent Installation / Uninstallation / Deployment

    Hello,
    How can I initiate a silent installation?
    I tried this string:
    Set-up.exe --mode=silent --deploymentFile="c:\Users\Username\Desktop\Adobe FrameMaker 12\deploy\Install_en_US.xml" --action=install
    This seems to be working (without getting any Shortcuts)....but I am not sure if this will really use the deploymentfile...
    Afterwards I tried to remove the software (also silent), but no chance:
    All Strings I tried failed eg:
    Set-up.exe --mode=silent --deployment="c:\Users\Username\Desktop\Adobe FrameMaker 12\deploy\Remove_en_US.xml" --action=uninstall
    Are there somebody who can help me with this issue ?
    Already now: Thanks for reading and thinking about this!
    KH

    Check the return codes from setup.exe, and the error logs.
    Or try using the Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition, as recommended in a note on the first of the above links:
    NOTE: Adobe recommends using the Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition for silent deployment rather than the method described below. For more information, see the Creative Suite Enterprise Deployment web page: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html. The officially supported methods can be found at the above deployment information reference, and in Manual deployment | Creative Suite 5, CS5.5 products.

  • Silent installation not so silent

    I am trying to perform a silent installation of discoverer desktop 10g. I can create a response file with the "-record" option, and i have also selected just discoverer desktop. Everything works fine.. except that at the end of the installation, the dosbox that is opened tells me: "Press enter to exit". I do not want this. I want a fully automated silent installation. I already tried to change all the options to false inside the response file but i doesn't help.
    Has anybody ever experienced this and found a solution?

    isn't there anyone who experienced this before? I know this is not a discoverer topic, but there is no other installation topic available. And since all the installers in oracle are the same...
    This has to be possible. I cannot imagine that oracle hasn't thought about this.

  • SIlent Installation (1.5) just copies files

    I tried the silent installation as described in Silent Installation. But even after rebooting the client, it still shows and uses the old version. "java -version", Java control panel all, Windows installed software, ... all show just the old version, but the files of the new version are properly installed.
    I noticed that a Java application was running on the client. So I retried by deleting the new JRE files, rebooting the client (still no sign of installation of the new version). And tried to rinstall the new version via remote silent installation. This time it canceled installation saying that it is already installed, but the client does not have anything of the new version - even not in the registry. ?

    I saw that the installation was not done on the
    client but on the server!!! When I think about it,
    stating the client via setting the client network
    path at INSTALLDIR= just copied the files on the
    client, but the rest of the installation was done on
    the server. I thougth this "silent installation" also
    works for remote installations, like sayd in the same
    doc:
    It is intended for:
    system administrators who want to deploy Java Plug-in
    and the JRE on multiple PCs in the Intranet
    environment without user interaction
    LOL. I can see how someone could misunderstand. When a "system administrators" installs applications he uses specialized tools that allows him/her to remotely run those install program on those clients. It wouldn't do him much good if 1000 or so remotely run installs all had GUI interfaces. He just wants something that just runs without a GUI, installs and then quits. That is what "silent installation" does for a "system administrator".

  • Silent installation of sapinst

    Hi,
    I want to run sapinst.exe in <b>silent mode</b> in multiple platforms.
    1. How sapinst <b>exports its API</b>?
    2. What is the significance of scripts written in <i>control.xml</i>? How sapinst call them?
    3. Where i need to put the values, to make the installation <b>automatic</b>?
    4. Is there any command-line parameters needed to make it silent?
    Thanks,
    Sooraj

    Hi Sooraj,
    We tried to do the same thing about a half a year ago at a customer and were told that SAP do not support silent installations.
    To my knowledge sapinst is incapable of running silent installations. The control.xml file is not intended for this purpose either.
    You might want to have a look at the rapid installer, which appears to be capable of handling SAP installations as well.
    Good luck,
    Steven.

  • Uninstall Labview after Silently installation

    I installed Labview 7.1 using the silently installation and I need to do an uninstall like this (Using a .BAT file), for the Silently installation I used the Spec files attached.
    In order to have a complete custom installation I also had to run separate the device drivers setup with its own spec file.
    I already tried to uninstall using this same spec files changing for each feature to = Absent (This is suppose to remove if installed) but it doesn't completely uninstall. The Data Socket and the NI Spy remain.
    Thank you in advance
    Attachments:
    LVspec.txt ‏1 KB

    Hello EJPEREZ,
    After further investigation, it appears that DataSocket is still present on the system because the LabVIEW Runtime Engine is still installed. To verify this, open the control panel, double-click on add/remove programs, select National Instruments Software, click on change and you will see a list of National Instruments Software that is installed on the computer. You can use this method to find out which NI Software product is leaving NI Spy on your computer as well.
    Uninstalling the LabVIEW Runtime Engine will remove DataSocket from your computer. The way to do this from the command line is to use msiexec and the LabVIEW Runtime Engine MSI file. The command will look something like "path:\>msiexec /quiet /uninstall lvruntimeeng.msi" depending on your preferences and file locations. MSIexec is a Microsoft Windows utility and you can get more information about it on there website (http://www.microsoft.com). If you need more information about the commmand line parameters for msiexec, just type in "msiexec" in the command line and hit the "enter" key. The LabVIEW Runtime Engine msi can be found on your installation cd in the "components\lvruntimeeng\" folder.
    Make sure you run this command AFTER you do the core uninstallation using the "setup.exe LVspect.txt /q" operation. Then you can use msiexec to uninstall the program that is leaving NI Spy on your computer.
    I hope this helps,
