About System Landscape config.

I'm new to System Landscape (SLD), so I have a question as below:
Firstly I have installed Sol Man 4.0 in my server named SAPX with SLD as following:
- SLD HTTP Host: SAPX
- SLD HTTP Port: 50000
- SLD Gateway Host: SAPX
- SLD Gateway Instance Number: 00
Then now I'm installing ERP 2005 with ABAP+JAVA stack. At the SLD screen of Central SLD, do I config the same configurations as I did in Sol Man. installation or make differences as following?:
- SLD HTTP Host: SAPX
- SLD HTTP Port: 50200
- SLD Gateway Host: SAPX
- SLD Gateway Instance Number: 02
Thanks,

Hello Toan,
Its very Clear.
If u would like to maintain central SLD (ie) only one SLD for your entire landscape then knildy fill the details of the solution manager SLD whenever u install any components. For doing this whenever u do installation select the option register in existing SLD and give the appropriate details
- SLD HTTP Host: SAPX
- SLD HTTP Port: 50000
- SLD Gateway Host: SAPX
- SLD Gateway Instance Number: 00
so that complete details regarding your system landscape will be maintained in your Solution manager SLD. You can refer this in future.
If u feel having a central SLD is not necessary then u can prefer the option configure the local SLD. This option will create a sepearte SLD in the host where u r installing the appropriate component.
regards,
Anand

  • Transportmanagemt for 2 systems landscape

    Hello!
I am about to set up the client dependent TMS for  the following 2 systems landscape:
system FID: client 100 (Customizing) , client 200 (Test)
system FIP: client 100 (Productive client)
In my current solution I put the transport target group between the two systems, so I can send the transports to the several clients.
Now I would like to replace transport target group with the client dependent transport routes:
    consolidation route: ZFID --> 200
    consolidation route: SAP --> 200
(both for the transport from FID 100 to FID 200)
    delivery route: Delivery 200 --> 100
(route from FID 200 to the FIP 100)
My goal is to develop in client 100 (FID), to test in client 200 (FID), and if everything ok, to transport to the client 100 (FIP).
<b>My question: Can I apply the second solution in order to realize better my goal?</b>Which advantages/disadvantages has the second solution

    Hi Thom,
I guess the advantage is with your second solution that you have something more like a traditional three-system-landscape.  However because your development and test clients are on the same instance you're introducing some additional admin by applying transports for development objects (that are almost entirely client independent) back into 200, which really you don't need.
I feel the volume and type of transport you typically do will influence if the second solution is worthwhile.  If you make lots of development changes you're probably best staying as you are.  If your changes are mostly config, the change is worthwhile.

  • SOLMAN 4.0 SR2 connect to SAP R/3 Three System landscape (DEV QA and PRD)

    Hi,
We have successfully installed SOLMAN 4.0 SR2 (ABAP + JAVA) on
    WIN2003 SP2 EE MSSQL 2005 EE SP1.
I just want to activate the service so that SOLMAN could see my existing SAP R/3 4.6 C Three system landscape (DEV QAS PRD).
I heard settings should be done on SPRO IMG configs. Could anyone tell me the exact procedure to navigate on it. I see a lot of buttons to config and execute, Just want to make sure everything will be in order.
My SLD is directly installed locally on my SOLMAN server.
    Thanks,
    Simoun

    Hello Simoun,
Telling from your last sentence I assume that you would like to connect SolMan (transaction SMSY) to your locally installed SLD or in other words: replicate SLD system data into SOLMAN system landscape SMSY.
    Please check this document:
    http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000538663&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_OBJECT=011000358700000530282007E
Here you find information covering prerequisites, required SAP Solution Manager IMG configuration to connect SLD and SMSY and frequently ask questions (FAQ-like).
I hope this helps you to get started.

  • Doubts in System Landscape Directory

    Hello All,
I got some basic doubts in SLD.
Why do we need to store the information about the installed products and to be installed products in software catalog?
And, what is this techncal system?
After reading few help sites, what I understand is the following:
For example SAP is a product and  CRM etc are the software components. We create the technical system for this product like for client 100 we create a technical system and for client 200 we create another technical system. And we give some logical names, called business sytems, to these technical systems.
My second question is, why do we need to create all these information(the information in SLD)? Why cant we directly create messages types, message interfaces etc and configure them in Integration directory without using the information in SLD like business system?
In Integration Directory, we say that the sender is one Business System and receiver is another business system. These business system are created based on some technical systems. These technical systems are based on some software components and product. This product and the software component might be a installed or non installed product. Then how do we can get the connection between the sender and the business system? Can you please explain me the idea behind considering the sender and reciever as business systems.
Can anybody please clear the above doubts?
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
    <u><b>SLD:</b></u>
The System Landscape Directory of SAP NetWeaver (SLD) serves as a central information repository for your system landscape. A system landscape consists of a number of hardware and software components that depend on each other with regard to installation, software updates, and demands on interfaces.
    - so talking about the working of an SLD, here if any information is required for the integration server regarding the systems(logical or physical) and the software (installed products) it refers to the SLD.
    - to tell you about the other features it has....it captures the dimensions of the system landscape like solution dimension, transport dimension and technical dimension.
    - putting it in short XI IS A CLIENT OF SLD
Also go thru this link and understand more about SLD <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/31/f0ff69551e4f259fdad799a229363e/frameset.htm">System Landscape Directory</a>
    <u>
    <b>SOFTWARE CATALOG:</b></u>
The SLD contains a Software Catalog of all installable SAP products and software components. The Software Catalog includes information about support packages and dependencies between the products and software components. This information is the basis for the description of the system landscape.
Also go thru this link and understand more about Software Catalog <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/a2/2999ef97ea2b4790165f9ca5c05c41/content.htm">Software Catalog</a>
<u><b>TECHNICAL SYSTEM, BUSINESS SYSTEMS, SOFTWARE PRODUCTS:</b></u>
Technical system correlates the software to the physical host on which it is installed
Or in other words Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape.
    - they are actually the basis for defining the business systems.
    - we assign a technical system to a business system to help the SLD make the appropriate association.
    - the software products used by the business system are got from the technical system definition.
    - to note 1 technical system can have more than one business system assigned to it....and as told the SLD make the appropriate association between them.
Also go thru this link and understand more about each of it:

  • URGENT: Changing System Landscape in ChaRM

    Ok...here is our situation:
We use ChaRM with a 3 tier system landscape (DEV > USER  >  PROD).
Out USER system has been down for a month (maintenance) so we went live with ChaRM as follows:
    DEV > PREPROD >PROD
Our USER system is now back up and running so we have replaced the Logical Component on the project to reflect this.  This has worked ok but the task list is still showing the old system landscape.  i.e. its showing PREPROD still instead of USER.  How do I resolve this?
Do I have to complete the existing cycle and then create a new one?  This would be fine except I would lose all the jobs I have scheduled in the task list (schedule every 15min EVERY day....took me ages).
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi,
About this issue, there is a detail information about this in blog point 6  u201CChanges in the logical components of a project where Charm is already activatedu201D.
    This is the link:  http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/15116
So, you have to change the transport route accordingly and then close current maintenance cycle and generate a new one.
    Following is the steps.
1: please import all the transport requests which were associated in the current maintenance cycle task list by STMS manually import.
1: change transport route from DEV > PREPROD >PROD to DEV > USER > PROD on the domain controller system.
    2: close current maintenance cycle.
3: change the system landscape to DEV > USER > PROD in solar_project_admin.
4: generate a new maintenance cycle.
    Thanks

  • No access to system landscape at present

    Hi
I am trying to establish connectivity between ECC and PI. I am in SXMB_ADM of ECC and under Global Configuration Data, I put the role of business system as Application System. Now when I click on the Systel Landscape, I am getting an error " No access to system landscape at present". How should I solve this?
What do I enter next to corresponding Integ server ?
    Regards

    Hi,
Check in SLDCHECK, from R/3 side, if everyhting is ok.
    You may want to check:
    #1143810 - Troubleshooting SLDCHECK - Releases 71X
Second point, check note below to about the components in SLD, if they are correctly registered.
#1334053 - No automatic PI 7.10 SLD Registration
And take into account the following notes mentioned in the note above:
#1117249 - Incomplete Registration of PI components in SLD
#764176 - Error in XI due to inconsistent SLD contents
Last recommendation, open the Exchange Profile and change all parameters that ends in *.name to FQDN, and don't forget to restart the system to activate the changes.
For more information about the FQHN, check the notes below:
#773830 - FQHN determination in ICM
#654982 - URL requirements due to Internet standards
Also ensure to apply the FQHN as per instructions on the note below:
#804124 - HTTP communication with XI Adapter Engine fails
And check for the parameter 'com.sap.aii.connect.integrationserver.sld.name' from note:
#1278563 - Specification of message server host in Exchange Profile

  • System Landscape directory not available error,

I am still a beginner, and I am having some slight trouble understanding, what tools would be needed, and how to install. I am using the forums.
We have the MII Discovery Server up and running.
    NWDS Server installation is done.
We have the MII track ready to be used for Development(SLD URL is available) , Userid and password available
I am working on installing the NWDS 7.3 Developer Workspace.
Would I also need to do NWDS Server install on my laptop?
    Would these steps be sufficient?
    1. Download and install JDK 1.6
    2. Copy the file nwds-extsoa-7.3-SP00-PAT0000-win32.zip from:
    <your download location>\51039309\DATA_UNITS\JAVA_IDE\distros\com.sap.netweaver.developerstudio.distribution.complete.extsoa\8.30.0.101020102100
    to a convenient folder.
    3. Extract the content and you will have a folder with name eclipse.
    4. Launch the Netweaver Developer Studio from folder eclipse, you may want to create a shortcut on the Desktop.
    5. If you haven't maintained JAVA_HOME property or if it's pointing to some other java version, eclipse will complain about it. In the dialog window locate the JDK 1.6 installation. Path to JDK 1.6  should be something like
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_25\bin
    6. Restart the NWDS after this and select a suitable workspace.
    7. Set the run time engine in NWDS, by going through the menu path:
    Window->Preferences->SAP AS JAVA
    Question:
    1. I am unable to Set the run time engine in NWDS, please could  you give me details steps with what I would need to enter for Instance Hostname and Instance Number...etc
    2. As part of Development installation do I have to Modifying the Logon Page? Do I have to go thru the Server installation in order to start developing on eclipse environment?
I do not have the war file. How do i  Copy the war file tcsecumelogonui.war from
    <Installation drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\J00\j2ee\cluster\apps\sap.com\com.sap.security.core.logon\servlet_jsp\logon_ui_resources\tcsecumelogonui.war
    3. System Landscape directory not available error,
In the Component Browser when I right click and select New u2013 Development Configuration u2013 Import From System Landscape Directory (SLD) u2013 Next (Enter UserID and Password)
    Thank you

  • Warning: Problems occurred during synchronization of the system landscape

    Hello
I have created systems in system landscape, TMS is working fine, all the configuration steps are completed successfully.
am working in Solution Manager 4, in project change -SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN - Project Administration - in 'System Landscape' tab &#61664; Change request  and when I activate change request management I am getting following messages:
    1. Warning: Problems occurred during synchronization of the system landscape
    2. The project is not released. Hence cycle can not be created.
Its bit urgent as I m in middle of this activity, please assist me on the same…
    Thanks
    Sharmishtha

    Hello Jason & Prakhar
Thanks for your quick response. I am basis person, and configuring this change request management for one of the project.
    Jason:
Will you please check with your basis person about these settings and let me know the same. I have set the settings as follows
    C= Development (source system)
    T = Quality
    P = Production
    Prakhar:
I have checked with all RFC connections are working fine, authorizations are also properly given.
I didn’t get your point No correctly defined maintenance project exists, I have already created project in project administration transaction, assigned the system landscape, I have activated project IMG in IMG Project and then going in change request tab to activate the change request management, where its giving me above error.
More over, as you have mentioned I am getting following message in SLG1:
“Project CHARM_GBW not found in the project administration table”
This is asking me to do following things:
Synchronize the project in Change Manager with the Solution Manager. Call the Solution Manager with the transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, and go to the 'System Landscape' tab, and then the 'Project Cycle' tab. Select the 'Change Request Management' field, and choose 'Refresh'. Project CHARM_GBW should then be available.
Where do I have to make entry for this?  I can see the entry in /TMWFLOW/PROJMAP table too. I don’t know what more I need to do for this.
Problem is I can’t see ‘Project Cycle’ tab in ‘System Landscape’.  Prakhar, frankly I am not able to find any step wise document on this part. So will you please help me with some documents on this? I am from technical side thus there is bit difficulty to understand this scenario from functional view.
I will be grateful for your help,
    Thanks
    Sharmishtha

  • SAP Three-System Landscape

    Hi All,
I have a very basic doubt - I have read umpteen times that the SAP recommendation is to use a 3-system landscape for performance reasons. One system for the developement, one for quality assurance and one for the production environment.
However, I want more clarity on what a 'system' is. Does it mean I purchase 3 mySAP ERP licenses for my implementation and then implement DEV, QAS and PRD in each of them? But would that not multiple my costs 3 times if I decide to move from legacy system to an SAP implementation?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vidya.

    Srividya D. wrote:>
    > Yes, all clients in a single SAP software get affected if any client-independent customizing. So do you mean by having different hardware systems for the different logical systems (DEV, QAS, PRD) client-independent customizing in one client in one hardware system does not affect another client in another hardware system? But I don't quite understand this since the concept of a client is per SAP system and not hardware system.
Yes. exactly if the system are different then any config/changes will not going to affect another system until unless you move any transport. Client is a buisness unit to identify the Buisness data, It is system specific.
    > By an instance if you mean an SAP Application Server, though there are multiple application servers on multiple hardware systems, the underlying Repository (nothing but database) and client-independent data should still be common right? Or do you mean that if I implement 3 instances of the SAP ERP system over 3 hardware systems, each instance or application server then has its own client space which do not interfere with the clients in the other hardware system?
I mean to say you required 3 Hardware, for 3 Database, and 3 SAP instance, 1:1 concept. everything will be seperate and will not interfare with any other system.

  • 403 Error during communication with System Landscape Directory from RWB

    Hi,
I've got a new install of PI (XI 7.0) SPS 10 and am getting an error whenever I try to access the SLD from RWB or Integration Builder.  The SLD is running on the same server as XI.
I've been through the various config guides (strangely there doesnt seem to be one specifically for PI/XI 7.0),  to configure RFC destinations, checked users are not locked etc.
I'm thinking it's probably a VA / Authorisations issue, but could use some ideas!
Here's a few errors just for reference (and future people searching!)
    <i>

  • How to add Business Objects to system landscape smsy?

    Hi there,
at the moment I configure the system landscape (smsy) in our solution manager. We have also BO XI 3.1 installations and I like to add them to the landscape. In transaction smsy I'm going to "Landscape components" -> "Product System" -> "Create New Product System" .. But now I'm not sure about the product and the product version.
    Any idea?
Thanks and have a nice weekend,
    Max

    Hello,
You may want to review  SAP Note 1507629   Preparing a BOE system for Service Sessions in Sol. Manager
There are two PDF files EGI_SBOP_EWA_Part1.pdf and EGI_SBOP_EWA_Part2.pdf attached.
They show how to define the system in SMSY.
Additionally you will need Note  1357901 CA: Managed System Setup for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise
Because this is how the data will be collected.
And lastly once you have setup the managed system and setup  the entries in SMSY, you then can create an EWA.
    Hope this helps you out.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • Client Roles in a Three System Landscape

I initially post this Question in other forum:
    Hi all,
We have a three system landscape. In the Development client, we have the Customizing Client, the Sandbox Cliet and a Training client. I have some questions about this configuration:
Acording to System and Client Settings - System Administration Assistant (BC-RRR) - SAP Library, Training client must be in Quality Assurance System, and it must be created by client copy from client QTST (it gets the transports from Custimizing). In this Training System we must create users for all our key-users to training. We must not create any user for key-users in sandbox client (this client is for the DEV team). is that ok?
What are the downsides of having out TRAINING client in the Development System?
Now, a consultant is asking me to open some modifications in the TRAINING client: He needs to load Exchange rates (OB08) in that client, but he is getting "Client is not modifiable". They are asking me to create users for key-users in the sandbox client and the training client.
I need to know if they are using the system in the right way. I dont want the system to become a mess.
I been reading this notes: SAP Note 356483. I don´t know what this means: "Now the corresponding Customizing object is no longer subject to the transport connection and is excluded from the changeability check. The change is active in all clients of the system. You can also change the Customizing object in a locked client (independent of the client role). However, now it is also no longer possible to manually transport entries of the view or table."
    Aditional notes:
SAP Note 78329,  sap kb 356483
    Thanks for your help!
    One person answere me this:
    Hi
You should create your question in the appropriate area :
    Software Logistics
The drawback of having training client in dev system is that it could be negatively impacted by ongoing changes performed in that system (custom program that are changed, not working...)
Some specific customizing changes can be set as current setting and thus can be modified without needing to open customizing but only if the client is set as productive.
There is also a way do deactivate modification recording of objects (aka deactivating the transport connection) but, if you apply this change for this activity/object, you won't be able any more to record change into transport orders
    Regards
356483 - Customizing: Current settings in the test system
    77430 - Customizing: Current settings

    Hi Andres
I do not really now the exact impact, it might prevent some business data from being mass processed or overwritten...
I did had to deactivate the transport connection on specific objects/activities for some customers.
It depends on the frequency of that activity. I don't like to open the client to modification as you can sometime forget to close it back, and sometime also it gave the opportunity to other consultants to make changes that would create inconsistency among envt in the whole landscape.
At least activating the recording of changes could help in tracking the source of modifications

    STMS => RECCLIENT=ALL

  • What is the Three System Landscape in SAP

    Hi All,
Please explain me What is the Three system Landscape in SAP.
    Thank you very much,
    Kavya.

    1.  Database Layer
The database layer consists of a central database system containing all of the data in the R/3 System. The database system has two components - the database management system (DBMS), and the databse itself. SAP does not manufacture its own database. Instead, the R/3 System supports the following database systems from other suppliers: ADABAS D, DB2/400 (on AS/400), DB2/Common Server, DB2/MVS,INFORMIX, Microsoft SQL Server, ORACLE, and
ORACLE Parallel Server. The database does not only contain the master data and transaction data from your business applications, all data for the entire R/3 System is stored there. For example, the database contains the control and Customizing data that determine how your R/3 System runs. It also contains the program code for your applications. Applications consist of program code, screen
definitions, menus, function modules, and various other components. These are stored in a special section of the database called the R/3 Repository, and are accordingly called Repository objects. You work with them in the ABAP Workbench.
    2.  Application Layer
The application layer consists of one or more application servers and a message server. Each application server contains a set of services used to run the R/3 System. Theoretically, you only need one application server to run an R/3 System. In practice, the services are distributed across more than one application server. This means that not all application servers will provide the full  range of services. The message server is responsible for communication between the application servers. It passes requests from one application server to another within the system. It also contains information about application server groups and the current load balancing within them.  It uses this information to choose an appropriate server when a user logs onto the system.
    3.  Presentation Layer
The presentation layer contains the software components that make up the SAPgui (graphical user interface). This layer is the interface between the R/3 System and its users. The R/3 System uses the SAPgui to provide an intuitive graphical user interface for entering and displaying data.  The presentation layer sends the user’s input to the application server, and receives data for display from it. While a SAPgui component is running, it remains linked to a user’s terminal
    session in the R/3 System.

  • Three-system landscape for Business Objects
