About XPATH ARRAY expressions

Invoking "capescience.GlobalWeather" I have to compose 2 services in two different port Type of the same partnerLink.
First One to retrieve the local CODE of an Airport, second one to use thise code to invoke Weather Report of the Weather Station of the airport...
The GlobalWeather.WSDL is without a SCHEMA, so ican't use the wizards.
Searching StationInfo By Name of the City Airport I recieve an ArrayOfStation, so in first invocation of WS my SOAP response is just like:

Namburi,
When you said you used the Reg Exp tool, did you use it only as
preconfigured by the iMT migrate application wizard?
Because the default configuration of the regular expression tool will only
target the files in your ND project directories. If you wish to target
classes outside of the normal directory scope, you have to either modify the
"Source Directory" property OR create another instance of the regular
expression tool. See the "Tool" menu in the iMT to create additional tool
instances which can each be configured to target different sets of files
using different sets of rules.
Usually, I utilize 3 different sets of rules files on a given migration:
spider2jato.xml
these are the generic conversion rules (but includes the optimized rules for
ViewBean and Model based code, i.e. these rules do not utilize the
RequestManager since it is not needed for code running inside the ViewBean
or Model classes)
I run these rules against all files.
See the file download section of this forum for periodic updates to these
rules.
nonProjectFileRules.xml
these include rules that add the necessary
RequestManager.getRequestContext(). etc prefixes to many of the common
calls.
I run these rules against user module and any other classes that do not are
not ModuleServlet, ContainerView, or Model classes.
appXRules.xml
these rules include application specific changes that I discover while
working on the project. A common thing here is changing import statements
(since the migration tool moves ND project code into different jato
packaging structure, you sometime need to adjust imports in non-project
classes that previously imported ND project specific packages)
So you see, you are not limited to one set of rules at all. Just be careful
to keep track of your backups (the regexp tool provides several options in
its Expert Properties related to back up strategies).

Great response. By the way, the Regular Expression Tool uses thePerl5 RE
syntax as implemented by Apache OROMatcher. If you're doing lotsof these
sorts of migration changes manually, you should definitely buy theO'Reilly
book "Mastering Regular Expressions" and generate some rules toautomate the
conversion. Although they are definitely confusing at first,regular
expressions are fairly easy to understand with some documentation,and are
superbly effective at tackling this kind of migration task.

Also, (and Matt's document may mention this)
Please bear in mind that this statement is not totally correct:
Since the migration tool does not do much of conversion for
these
utilities we have to do manually.Remember, the iMT is a SUITE of tools. There is the extractiontool, and
the translation tool, and the regular expression tool, and severalother
smaller tools (like the jar and compilation tools). It is correctto state
that the extraction and translation tools only significantlyconvert the
primary ND project objects (the pages, the data objects, and theproject
classes). The extraction and translation tools do minimumtranslation of the
User Module objects (i.e. they repackage the user module classes inthe new
jato module packages). It is correct that for all other utilityclasses
which are not formally part of the ND project, the extraction and
translation tools do not perform any migration.
However, the regular expression tool can "migrate" any arbitrary
file
(utility classes etc) to the degree that the regular expressionrules
correlate to the code present in the arbitrary file. So first andforemost,
if you have alot of spider code in your non-project classes youshould
consider using the regular expression tool and if warranted adding
additional rules to reduce the amount of manual adjustments thatneed to be
made. I can stress this enough. We can even help you write theregular
expression rules if you simply identify the code pattern you wish to
convert. Just because there is not already a regular expressionrule to
match your need does not mean it can't be written. We have notnearly
exhausted the possibilities.
For example if you say, we need to convert
CSpider.getDataObject("X");
To
RequestManager.getRequestContext().getModelManager().getModel(XModel.class);
Maybe we or somebody else in the list can help write that regularexpression if it has not already been written. For instance in thelast
updated spider2jato.xml file there is already aCSpider.getCommonPage("X")
rule:
<!--getPage to getViewBean-->
<mapping-rule>
<mapping-rule-primarymatch>
<![CDATA[CSpider[.\s]*getPage[\s]*\(\"([^"]*)\"]]>
</mapping-rule-primarymatch>
<mapping-rule-replacement>
<mapping-rule-match>
<![CDATA[CSpider[.\s]*getPage[\s]*\(\"([^"]*)\"]]>
</mapping-rule-match>
<mapping-rule-substitute>
<![CDATA[getViewBean($1ViewBean.class]]>
</mapping-rule-substitute>
</mapping-rule-replacement>
</mapping-rule>
Following this example a getDataObject to getModel would look
like this:
<mapping-rule>
<mapping-rule-primarymatch>
<![CDATA[CSpider[.\s]*getDataObject[\s]*\(\"([^"]*)\"]]>
</mapping-rule-primarymatch>
<mapping-rule-replacement>
<mapping-rule-match>
<![CDATA[CSpider[.\s]*getDataObject[\s]*\(\"([^"]*)\"]]>
</mapping-rule-match>
<mapping-rule-substitute>
<![CDATA[getModel($1Model.class]]>
</mapping-rule-substitute>
</mapping-rule-replacement>
</mapping-rule>
In fact, one migration developer already wrote that rule andsubmitted it
for inclusion in the basic set. I will post another upgrade to thebasic
regular expression rule set, look for a "file uploaded" posting.Also,
please consider contributing any additional generic rules that youhave
written for inclusion in the basic set.
Please not, that in some cases (Utility classes in particular)
the rule
application may be more effective as TWO sequention rules ratherthan one
monolithic rule. Again using the example above, it will convert
CSpider.getDataObject("Foo");
To
getModel(FooModel.class);
Now that is the most effective conversion for that code if that
code is in
a page or data object class file. But if that code is in a Utilityclass you
really want:
>
RequestManager.getRequestContext().getModelManager().getModel(FooModel.class
So to go from
getModel(FooModel.class);
To
RequestManager.getRequestContext().getModelManager().getModel(FooModel.class
You would apply a second rule AND you would ONLY run this rule
against
your utility classes so that you would not otherwise affect yourViewBean
and Model classes which are completely fine with the simplegetModel call.
<mapping-rule>
<mapping-rule-primarymatch>
<![CDATA[getModel\(]]>
</mapping-rule-primarymatch>
<mapping-rule-replacement>
<mapping-rule-match>
<![CDATA[getModel\(]]>

<mapping-rule-substitute>
<![CDATA[RequestManager.getRequestContext().getModelManager().getModel(]]>
</mapping-rule-substitute>
</mapping-rule-replacement>
</mapping-rule>
A similer rule can be applied to getSession and other CSpider APIcalls.
For instance here is the rule for converting getSession calls toleverage
the RequestManager.
<mapping-rule>
<mapping-rule-primarymatch>
<![CDATA[getSession\(\)\.]]>
</mapping-rule-primarymatch>

<mapping-rule-match>
<![CDATA[getSession\(\)\.]]>
</mapping-rule-match>
<mapping-rule-substitute>

</mapping-rule-replacement>

Namburi,
I will post a document to the group site this evening which has
the
details
on various tactics of migrating these type of utilities.
Essentially,
you
either need to convert these utilities to Models themselves or
keep the
utilities as is and simply use the
RequestManager.getRequestContext.getModelManager().getModel()
to statically access Models.
For CSpSelect.executeImmediate() I have an example of customhelper
method
as a replacement whicch uses JDBC results instead of
CSpDBResult.

Hi All,
In the present ND project we have lots of utility classes.
These
classes in diffrent directory. Not part of nd pages.
In these classes we access the dataobjects and do themanipulations.
So we access dataobjects directly like
CSpider.getDataObject("do....");
and then execute it.
Since the migration tool does not do much of conversion forthese
utilities we have to do manually.
My question is Can we access the the models in the postmigration
sameway or do we need requestContext?
We have lots of utility classes which are DataObjectintensive. Can
someone suggest a better way to migrate this kind of code.
Thanks

I will post a document to the group site this evening which has
the
details
on various tactics of migrating these type of utilities.
Essentially,
you
either need to convert these utilities to Models themselves or
keep the
utilities as is and simply use the
RequestManager.getRequestContext.getModelManager().getModel()
to statically access Models.
For CSpSelect.executeImmediate() I have an example of customhelper
method
as a replacement whicch uses JDBC results instead of
CSpDBResult.

Subject: [iPlanet-JATO] Use Of models in utility classes
Hi All,
In the present ND project we have lots of utility classes.
These
classes in diffrent directory. Not part of nd pages.
In these classes we access the dataobjects and do themanipulations.
So we access dataobjects directly like
CSpider.getDataObject("do....");
and then execute it.
Thanks
Namburi

• What is wrong with this XPath count expression

I have an input message with a list of desired part codes.
>
<Message>
...<order_id>1234</order_id>
...<project_id>5678</project_id>
...<partCodeList>

..</partCodeList>
</Message>
>
I attempting to count the partCodes that match a particular string. I have stored the desired string in a simple variable called devicePartCode. The Xpath expression statement looks like:
>
count(bpws:getVariableData('inputVariable','payload','/client:Message/client:partCodeList')/client:partCode = bpws:getVariableData('devicePartCode')) > 0
>
The execution error I get is:
>

Message handle error.
An exception occurred while attempting to process the message "com.collaxa.cube.engine.dispatch.message.invoke.InvokeInstanceMessage"; the exception is: Invalid xpath expression.
Error while parsing xpath expression "count(bpws:getVariableData('inputVariable','payload','/client:Message/client:partCodeList')/client:partCode = bpws:getVariableData('devicePartCode')) > 0", the reason is Expected ')' instead of '='..
Please verify the xpath query "count(bpws:getVariableData('inputVariable','payload','/client:Message/client:partCodeList')/client:partCode = bpws:getVariableData('devicePartCode')) > 0" which is defined in BPEL process.
>
The BPEL process I guess never gets started because there is no recorded instance when executed. Instead, the error is only found in the domain's log.
It seems like the internal bpws:getVariableData(...) are not being evaluated before the XPath count expression is evaluated.
Any suggestions on how to rewrite the XPath search would be appreciated.

I tried that, but it doesn't compile.

For the development guideline i had followed "http://www.erpschools.com/apps/oracle-applications/articles/Fusion-Middleware/SOA/BPEL/BPEL-Database-Adapter-Part-2/index.aspx" this document. Instead of using "select" query, here I am using database procedure to get output.

• Few questions about Airport Extreme/Express

I have a few questions about Airport extreme/express:
1 Can you access hard drive trough express?
2 I have cable NOT wireless modem. What would be the best option (speed-wise) to connect to internet- connect modem to Extreme and access internet wirelessly from it? To connect modem to Extreme and imac?
3 How fast is read/ write from hard drive connected to Extreme?
4 How many hard drives can you connect to Extreme (or Express if that is possible)?
5 Can you remotely sync Ipod nano/ shuffle using Extreme?
I really hate wire clutter around my desk. What I intend to do is to connect hard drives and printer to Airport Extreme and access them remotely. That would leave empty desk:).
Thanks

1. You cannot connect a hard drive to the Airport Express USB port.
2. The speed of wireless networking is faster than the speed of most cable internet services. Therefore, you won't notice any difference in your internet connection speed between (a) a cabled connection directly between Mac and modem or (b) a wireless connection between Mac and base station and modem.
3. Apple has not published any specs on the speed of hard drive access for the Airport Extreme N Base Station. Several people have posted their own measurements (do a search in this discussion forum), and generally those results are not very good.
4. Apple has not placed a limit on the number of drives you can attach to the Airport Extreme N Base Station (with use of a hub). How many do you want to connect?
5. You cannot remotely sync an iPod using the Extreme Base Station.

• I just have questions about the AirPort Express and how it works.

My household Wi-Fi is not the strongest in my room and I found out about the AirPort Express and I read the overvie, but I still have some questions on how it works, how its setup and other questions as well.

The AirPort Express will not wirelessly extend the signal from another router unless that router is also an Apple product.
Not sure what other questions you might have, but we'll try to answer if you want to ask.

• Any reference material about XPath expressions???

• XPath array indexing

I am trying to use the XPATH expression builder to iterate thru a array of strings and concatenate them into one single string field. I have top level element called "counter" which has a array of element "approvers" which in turn contains the string approver. I need to concatenate all the approvers in to one field. I am able to get the count by using
count(bpmn:getDataObject('counter')/approvers)
I do not know how to write the looping logic to iterate thru the array and pick out the string value for each of the index. Can some one please help me or point to any tutorials.

I think you might be able to use the oraext:create-delimited-string function for this.
Refer to the docs for usage:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_appx_functs.htm#BEIGJJHD
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_xslt_mpr.htm
If that doesn't work, you could use an XSL transformation instead of XPath. There you would just use an xsl:for-each loop to iterate over the array then call concat within the loop to build your string.
Keep in mind that array indices in xpath start at 1, not 0.

• Informations about Oracle Application Express

Hello,
for my company I have to do a complete comparison of four tools which can be used for creation of GUIs:
- Oracle Application Framework
- Oracle Forms
- Oracle Application Express
- Microsoft .NET Framework
Here in this topic I search for some facts about the ApEx:
- How does it work (language, tools, ...)
- Performance vs. the other three
- Integretation into E-Business Suite
- Possitbilites of the GUI
- Screenshots, Links, etc.
thx a lot

The goal is to build a GUI where you can handle Tabledate, etc. Well you can certainly very easily do that with APEX.
As for the disadvantages/advantages, what I would suggest is -
Option 1
Use -
1) OTN (plus other Vendors websites)
2) OTN Forums/Google Groups etc
3) Google to find other sources (but with extreme care to validate/verify your sources)
To research the information on your own. Unless you have experience of the products yourself, then this area is fraught with potential problems, as you are effectively quoting information that you have not verified yourself (hence the need to be very satisified that you trust the source of the information).
Option 2
Contact a respective expert in each of the technologies asking them to cite advantages and disadvantages of the tool they use.
Again, there is a potential for 'bias' here, so you need to make sure that your 'source' is objective enough to be able to provide realistic disadvantages of the tool (at least in the context of your question)
Option 3
By far the best option in my view -
Try and find someone who has used both/some/all of the tools you're trying to compare. Once again it needs to be someone who's opinion you can trust (otherwise what is the point?).
The most difficult thing about having 2 people comparing products A and B, is that the person extolling the virtues of product A might not know that product B actually makes certain things easier and vice-versa. By having someone who has used BOTH products discuss the pros and cons then you get a much more 'real-world usability' view of the benefits and drawbacks.
Just my thoughts, hope they help.
John.

• XML XPath Array Comma Deliminated....

The following snippit of code works just fine.
However I need to take the p2 array and rebuild it to an array that separates the values by a comma.
I then can pass that into my SQL to support the Where In '1,2,3,' clause...
String [] p2 = xPath.getValues(xml, "ROOT/...");
// displays out the values of the XML file just fine
for (int i = 0; i < p2.length; i++) {
System.out.println("Provider Id:" + p2);
Need in this string comma deliminated form for the folowing SQL
Select .... Where provider_id in '11111,222222,333333'
Any ideas ?
TIA

Create a StringBuilder (Java 1.5) or StringBuffer to concatenate the values in p2.

• Concerned about losing 7 Express files when installing Logic 8

Will my Logic Express 7 files be deleted or corrupted when I install Logic 8?
From, "Before You Install Logic Studio":
WARNING: If you have installed Logic Express or Logic Pro 7 on your computer, the Logic Studio installer will delete some of the files in the Logic 7 factory content folder: Files with names identical to the default Logic 7 factory content files are deleted. Files with different names are moved to a new folder, called Previous Logic Settings. Logic Studio uses a new location for impulse response settings; Logic Pro 7 impulse response files remain unaffected. An existing installation of the Logic Express or Logic Pro 7 application will not be deleted by Logic Pro 8, allowing you to continue working with it.

Corrupted? I don't see why it would corrupt files per se. But if you want to be totally safe about things, make a backup first. Don't just install the new software and "hope for the best", cuz Murphy's Law is guaranteed to take effect. Back up first, install new software, play around with it. If something ends up sounding funky or whatever you can always access your original files from the backup.

• Question about C array initialization

I understand that the statement
char string[] = "chars";
initializes string[5] to 0 ('\000'). My question is does the statement
char *strings[] = { "string1", "string2", "string3" };
initialize strings[3] to (void *) 0, i.e. NULL? I can't find the answer to this question in the ansi standard. GCC seems to tack on a NULL pointer at the end (even with the -ansi and -pedantic-errors flags), which is really convenient for finding the boundary, but I'm not sure whether it's a GCC thing or an official C thing. I see where the standard talks about terminating char arrays initialized by a string literal with a null byte, but it doesn't talk about the analogous case with arrays of pointers.
Last edited by nbtrap (2012-06-25 03:18:20)

nbtrap wrote:
Not necessarily. A declaration like:
char arr[3] = "str";
doesn't get null-terminated.
It doesn't get null-terminated because you don't leave enough room in the array for the null character. "char arr[3]" can only contain 3 characters, the same way that "char arr[2] = "str" will only contain 2. The second example generates a warning whereas the first does not, but only because it is very common to work with non-null-terminated strings.
nbtrap wrote:
And besides, my point is that initializing strings[3] *would* make sense for the same reason that intializing
char foo[] = "bar";
with a terminating null byte *does* make sense.
I know that arrays of pointers are not the same. My questions assumes that much. The fact of the matter is, however, GCC terminates pointer arrays of unknown size with a null pointer, and my question is simply "is this an ansi C thing or a GCC thing?".
In fact, it seems that GCC terminates all arrays of unknown size that are explicitly initialized with the appropriate number of null bytes. For example:
struct tag { int i; char c; char *str; } tags[] = {
{ 1, 'a', "string1" },
{ 2, 'b', "string2" },
{ 3, 'c', "string3" }
initializes tags[3] to sizeof (struct tag) null bytes. Try it for yourself.
I get the following:
test.c
#include <stdio.h>
int
main(int argc, char * * argv)
int i;
char *strings[] = { "string1", NULL, "string3"};
for (i=0;i<5;i++)
printf("strings[%d]: %s\n", i, strings[i]);
return 0;
output
strings[0]: string1
strings[1]: (null)
strings[2]: string3
Segmentation fault
test2.c
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
int
main(int argc, char * * argv)
int i;
struct tag {int i; char c; char *str;};
struct tag null;
memset(&null, 0, sizeof(struct tag));
struct tag tags[] =
{ 1, 'a', "string1" },
// { 2, 'b', "string2" },
null,
{ 3, 'c', "string3" }
for (i=0;i<5;i++)
printf(
"tags[%d]: (%p) %1d %c %s\n",
i, tags + i, tags[i].i, tags[i].c, tags[i].str
return 0;
output
tags[0]: (0x7fffd2df4e80) 1 a string1
tags[1]: (0x7fffd2df4e90) 0 (null)
tags[2]: (0x7fffd2df4ea0) 3 c string3
tags[3]: (0x7fffd2df4eb0) 0 (null)
Segmentation fault
The above behavior appears to conflict.
Given that string constants in C are defined as null-terminated, i.e. "str" is equivalent to "{'s', 't', 'r', '\0'}", the assignment 'arr[] = "str"' explicitly includes a null terminator. The other examples above do not include such a terminator. Even if it would be convenient sometimes, the standard should adopt a minimally invasive approach. It's easy to add a NULL at the end of an array declaration, but impossible to remove an extra element from such a declaration.
This may be informative too:
test3.c
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
int
main(int argc, char * * argv)
char str[] = "test";
char *strings[] = {"string1", NULL, "string3"};
struct tag {int i; char c; char *str;};
struct tag null;
memset(&null, 0, sizeof(struct tag));
struct tag tags[] =
{ 1, 'a', "string1" },
// { 2, 'b', "string2" },
null,
{ 3, 'c', "string3" }
printf(
"str\n size: %lu\n length: %lu\n"
"strings\n size: %lu\n length: %lu\n"
"tags\n size: %lu\n length: %lu\n",
sizeof(str), sizeof(str)/sizeof(char),
sizeof(strings), sizeof(strings)/sizeof(char *),
sizeof(tags), sizeof(tags)/sizeof(struct tag)
return 0;
output
str
size: 5
length: 5
strings
size: 24
length: 3
tags
size: 48
length: 3
The string length (actual number of chars in array) is reported as 5 ('t', 'e', 's', 't', '\0'), which is expected. The array of strings and tags are both reported as 3, even though you can access a null value after the last initialized index of the tags array. If that null value was really supposed to be there, it should be accounted for using sizeof, just as the null character is in the string.
Maybe the ultimate null element of the tags array is some artefact of memory alignment.

• Urgent query about copying array of objects to html item

I have an urgent query about how I can display an array of objects on a html form. The only suitable html item I can see for this is a drop down box. Ideally a combo box would be preferable but I cant find anything like this. Basically the display item needs to contain 3 columns of data and has to display a number of rows. Can anyone tell me how to copy the array of values into a drop down box?

Here is all the code from my jsp. It keeps returning null:
<%@ page language="java" %>
<%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-bean.tld" prefix="bean" %>

• Question about Selling Logic Express 9

I gave my macbook pro away as a gift and am now going to sell Logic Express 9.
I realize I won't get much for it, but how do I go about selling this regarding registry transfer?
thanks for any help!

You can start by checking the EULA (http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/logicexpress.pdf), but basically you just need to make sure that LE9 is deleted from the MacBook Pro and you give all the installation discs, manuals, and serial numbers to the buyer. This is the proper, legal way to do it.
Registration is optional and doesn't really play any legal role in purchasing or transferring a license. Having said that, if you have registered LE9 and the buyer tries to register it after purchasing from you, Apple will have questions. If you think the buyer will want to register LE9 then you will have to call Apple support to confirm the sale & transfer. Again, registration is optional and not required for a legal sale/transfer of a license (as long as you delete your copy).
